Joe ain't no hero. He just wants to die. The kids they call him "Roadkill" on account of how them Horrors sucked him up into the sky to have their way with him, then dropped him in the middle of a street full of traffic. Must've gotten run over five or six times before them cars and trucks stopped to see what they'd hit. But Joe he just stood up without a bone broke in his entire body and not a drop of blood leaking out. His back's hurt him something fierce ever since, but otherwise, he's right as rain. That's not to say life's been a bed of roses—unless all we're talking about is the thorns.Short Stories - Post-Apocalyptic Science Fiction / Horror
Milo James Fowler is the cross-genre author of more than thirty books: space adventures, post-apocalyptic survival stories, mysteries, and westerns. A native San Diegan, he now makes his home in West Michigan with his wife and all four seasons. Some readers seem to enjoy the unique brand of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and humor found in his ever-growing body of work. Soli Deo gloria.
Two stories from Fowler featuring a man who, after being experimented upon by aliens, literally and figuratively feels like roadkill. A bizarre but intriguing addition to the dystopian genre, kind of a weird west, alien apocalypse mash-up. Well done and worth a lunch time read.
A very will written fantasy Sci-Fi thriller novella with interesting characters. The story line is complicated with lots of misdirection leading to the conclusion. I would recommend this novella to anyone looking for a quick read. Enjoy reading 🔰2020 😉
Roadkill Joe surprised me with its unique protagonist. I believe that this short story could easily become a novel or even a series. This is my first encounter with Milo James Fowler’s work but, it won’t be the last. Enjoy!
Sounds like the end of the world. Aliens coming to lay eggs in peoples heads for alien babies. Roadkill Joe, was captured and taken on the alien ship. That capture, changed his DNA and he cannot die. His mission now, is to kill the aliens.
