I would recommend this book to anyone in a Digital Leadership position who is interested working to developing themselves and be the best leader they can be.

When I was in a Development Manager role, the content of this book would have been extremely useful to help me understand some practical steps I could follow to understand myself and my role more.

I know James personally and I can attest to his passion about the leadership topic, human psychology and the technology industry as a whole. This is the stuff he lives and breathes.

He’s contributed a lot of his personal knowledge and experience to this book, but what makes it extra valuable is how he interviewed so many experienced technical leaders during the authoring process and merged their knowledge and experience together to build on it. It’s not just one leaders experience, it’s a diverse set of experiences from many years of leadership mistakes and successes.

If you’re serious about developing yourself, you should give it a read. You’ll probably come across a few a-ha moments and some useful tools, but mostly you’ll build a better background on which you can guide your own long term leadership and personal development.

Great book. I found the section on managing yourself particularly useful, and I’ve gone back and applying the managing teams and stakeholders techniques now. Love the models which are very practical.

Great book about stages of leadership one can grow through. It is well structured and offers several frameworks to support one's leadership, learning and reflection. Definitely a book to keep handy.

more than once i felt like throwing this book out of the window because of the unbearable NLP and agile coaching stench it produces. but then again, i red it on a kindle, so i had to keep going.

weirdly enough, despite of the style, it's one of the most sensible books on the subject i've red so far. i couldn't stress the importance of focusing on team culture and personalities. and his delineation between managers and leaders is spot on. so i can't really complain.

good book, it just feels a bit dated at this point

A personal view on the topic with almost no background search to support some affirmations and an overall simplistic approach to almost all the chapters

Definitely a waste of time

Very good book, really like all graphics and diagrams. For sure book that you can read multiple times or use as reference. Must read for all digital leaders.
