Nareen is a runner who carries messages between sovereign cities on her world. On her way to deliver a message pleading for help against an invasion, she is injured by an animal attack. A strange but kind warrior rescues her. Jerrel has his own reasons for being in the territory, but he cannot share them with this native woman. He is searching for his missing brother, and both of them are members of an extraterrestrial exploration team. Forced to travel together, Nareen and Jerrel find their missions colliding when deception and intrigue block their progress. Desperate to guard his secret identity, Jerrel has less success guarding his heart against the lovely runner.
