Happy at work? Thrilled with your boss? Love your co-workers? If not, then this book—about the cutthroat competition for promotion at a celebrity magazine, with some murder, madness, corporate espionage and hot sex thrown in—is for you.
581 Ways to Kill Your Boss is a book I won from Goodreads Giveaway. I thought it was going to be a comedy but it just has strange short stories that may or may not relate to previous stories. I wondered why some were written, they didn't seem to make any sense to me. It could just be me.
This was a really weird book... It was interesting because of this, but at the same time I didn't like it because it was hard to follow some things. For example, when Quinn was sleeping with someone the first couple of times, I didn't really know who it was. Also, it took me about half of the book to figure out who was who in the main character lineup. Even longer for some of the others, as well as which magazine was which. I'm all for mysteries and such, but I think it's necessary to know who is who, even if a character is referred to only as "the man with hairy ears" or something weird like that. I did, however, like how the title was worked into the book, as well as the premise of the story itself. I definitely didn't expect Kaylazean to offer the job to who she did, that's for sure. But I do think that it could have been less confusing. Honestly, if I hadn't had some free time at work where I didn't have anything else to do except read half of this book, I don't think I would have finished it. Note: I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways.
A strange story based on the retirement of boss and who would be the replacement. I kept thinking that I wouldn't finish the book, but kept coming back to see if it made sense. It finally did - at the end. Power hungry, greedy people who stop at nothing to get ahead and still have to fight their own demons created a compelling tale. I recommend this book to people who enjoy psychological twists. I received this book from Goodreads for free.
I won a Kindle edition of this from Goodreads and finally got around to reading it. It was not what I expected. I did not enjoy the writing style and the attempts at being hip and/or edgy with dialog or the story laid out by the character telling the story.
