El Malo [The Bad]

Rate this book
Javier Estrada is the king of Mexico.
Evil.
Twisted.
Psychopathic.
A cruel madman with a killer smile.
And he is my boss.

My duty is to blend in, clean his home, and not make a peep.
I’ve done my job well for years. Imbedded myself so deep in his world, he’s never going to get me out. But I am this king’s worst nightmare. Bad men like him took everything away from me. I will never forget.

He will pay for the sins of many. I’ll just bide my time—watching, waiting, calculating—until the time is right. When I strike, he won’t know what hit him.

The monster who rules Mexico with an iron fist may not bow to anyone… But I’m not just anyone.
He will bow to me.

This book is a dark mafia romance. There are many triggers in this book including violence both physical and sexual. Reader discretion is advised.

So the name of the protagonist is Javier.
Really???
Because if it is Mexican, of course his name is Javier. And of course, he is a Narco.
description

Seriously, people, I'm so fed up that all the authors use that name for a Mexican character, and that they are always criminals. I probably don't read the book, just because of that.

description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
CHRIST ON A CRACKER...this book was SOOOO good. So very good. The writing was fantastic (honestly when isn't it with this author)? It was fast paced. It was told in a dual POV format. The plot was super engaging and kept me on my toes. It was sexy. It was hot. It was sweet. It was full of blood and ball torture. Lots and lots of ball torture. I don't even have balls and I was in pain (lol). It had secrets and lies. Twists and turns. Last, it was all wrapped up in a very satisfying ending.

~HERO~
JAVIER...OMG Javi, where do I even begin? First, I LOVE the name Javi, LOVE IT. Good lord was this guy f-cking hot. He danced. He smoked candy apple cigars. He was sweet. The way he called Rosa "mami"...mama mia...it had my tablet smoking. On top of that, he was bada$$, and took no sh!t. You don't f-cking touch Javier Estrada's girl...EVER. He didn't appear to be a manwhore. He was a totally swoon worthy hero.

~HEROINE~
ROSA...I adored Rosa just a smidge less than Javier. At the very beginning, she came across a bit like a doormat to me. There is one scene in particular where I wanted to shake her and say; "WTF...are you thinking??!!" But it wasn't long before she came to her senses and I ended up loving her just as much as Javi. Her character grew stronger and more feisty. She was a very good heroine.

description

~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
This book had a decent cast of secondary characters. I wouldn't mind seeing some of Javi's men get books of their own. I also liked Araceli (one of the maids) and wouldn't mind seeing her get a book as well.

~HEAT LEVEL~
High. There were plenty of smokin' hot sex scenes in this book, and this couple had amazing on page chemistry. There is also some exhibitionism in this one.

~ANGST LEVEL - SEXUAL HISTORIES~
High. This one was fairly angsty mostly because of the secrets being hidden. I spent most of the book waiting for the other shoe to drop. That said, the couple themselves were pretty solid through the entirety of the book. Neither were virgins. There was no OW drama. Javier didn't come across as a manwhore. There was some OM drama, and there were a couple scenes with Rosa having sex with an OM. There was also

~IN THE END~
I adored every second of this one. The writing and pace were both excellent. I adored the setting (I have a thing for narcos *lol*). The characters were likable, and I loved the Spanish sprinkled throughout. It was edgy. It was dark. It was twisted, but it was also sweet and romantic. It pretty much checked off every single box for me (and then some). Therefore yours truly is going to give it two very HUGE thumbs up. This will definitely be going into my reread pile.description

Mafia romance is one of my favorite subgenres to read, and K Webster is one of my favorite authors. Put them both together, and I'm in book heaven! Therefore, I wasn't surprised at all that I got swept up in this story right away.

A ruthless cartel king, Javi Estrada is one of the most feared men in Mexico and with good reason. If you cross him, he won't just kill you. He will make you wish you were dead.

 photo giphy-94_zpskaaac98t.gif

Rosa Delgado is an FBI agent seeking revenge for a personal tragedy. She went undercover as the head maid of Javi's household to do just that. Careful not to draw suspicion, Rosa keeps her head down and performs her duties to the best of her ability.

 photo 219d1718342596b1868760154df6f565_zpsusmobfkj.gif

As time goes on, Rosa's life becomes more and more confusing and complicated. To her surprise, she begins to fall for the baddest man of all. Revenge has always been her ultimate goal, so how can she let herself love the thing she hates most? Besides, loyalty is everything to Javi, and Rosa's true identity is bound to come out eventually. Will Javi show mercy or make her beg for it?

El Malo is gritty, violent, and sinfully sexy! I never once wanted to put it down. It's been some time since I've read something twisted by this author, and this really hit the spot. Mafia romance fans, this one's you!

MY RATING FOR THIS IS 3.5 STARS...

MY REVIEW can also be found on my blog:
KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

‘EL MALO:’ Is a full length, standalone dark romance novel by K. Webster. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’

THEN: In the ‘Prologue’ we’re introduced to a young Rosa, and straight away your thrown into a bloodbath of bullets when her mother is taken away from her suddenly, this set the pace for a nail biting intricate plot that had me sitting on the edge of my seat, you could feel the undercurrent of anticipation creeping off the pages.

NOW: But not is all what it seems with our heroine, there’s more to her than meets the eye, she’s head maid to one of the most notorious cartel kings in Mexico. Javier Estrada, a ruthless, cold hearted killer.

Javier is as dark as you can go, all men fear him, he can break bones just from his fists alone. He's one man you do not want to get on his bad side of, many don't survive. The devil with an angel's smile.

But what happens when the lines become blurred?

DO NOT CLICK ON THE SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS BOOK..

4 King Baddie Stars ⭐

Is it true when one says, better the devil you know? Because in this instance I'm thinking that Rosa is better off choosing the latter. Witnessing the death of her mother at the hands of the Mexican Cartel sealed her fate. Now working as a maid for past 4 years to the Mexican King himself Javier Estrada has just reached its pinnacle, and this lowly maid is out for vengeance.

"That’s what I’m doing after all. Bringing down all the Mexican monsters who prey on the innocent and destroy lives."

One should not be fooled by the elegantly dressed and suave Javier Estrada because he isn't above cutting your balls off if you dare betray him. When will all the minions learn? And a smart business man understands that sleeping with their staff is a big NO. But mentally he's already claimed his maid Rosa, she just needs to fall in line.

"It’s what we Estrada men do.

We calculate, we conquer, we own."

Giving into their desires, is it merely a game of seduction or are their hearts at stake? Can Javier and Rosa make it out alive once their secrets come to light or will one of them end up in concrete boots? El Malo was an extremely sexy and suspenseful Mafia story promising revenge that has you twitching with nerves. You never seem to know how this saga will play out while you're salivating over the villain and wondering how they can come back from all the deceit.

"Él es el malo. He is the bad guy. But with his strong arm wrapped around my waist and smelling like heaven as he behaves as a perfect gentleman, I find the line blurring for me."

** 2 I'm Mexican and I'm not a criminal STARS **

PopSugar 2018 9.

Before starting the review, I want to make a comment. I do not like stereotypes about Mexicans, we are not all criminals, vandals or narcos and I do not like that foreign authors represent us only as criminals, we are more than that and we have a very beautiful culture worthy of representing. You can take a look at Penny Reid's book, "Grin and Beard It", or "The Smallest Part", by Amy Harmon, they are books that make me feel proud of my culture.

Esos puntos a favor.

“We calculate. We conquer . We own.

El Malo is the catapult in a string of precise devious planning that was meant to suck you in to the dark side. It was dark, sexy, alluring, and at certain times, left you holding your breath.

Eighteen years ago, Rosa Delgado's entire world was changed in an instant. Vowing to get her own revenge and never feel that type if pain from another being again, Rosa made it her mission to do just that. For four years, she’s been in the background silently biding her time and waiting. But everything changes when the king himself decides to look at her more closely.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

They say that most monsters are made and Javier Estrada is no different. He’s takes pride in being the king, he gets off on the fear, and if your stupid enough to cross him? Your body will NEVER be found. Known to have a small group of people who he considers trustworthy, Javier is not an easy man to get close to. But that all changes when the head Maid of his Estate piques his interest.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this story and let me tell you, I was practically salivating at what was to come. I knew it was going to bloody and cringeworthy, but also sexy and domineering. Don’t get me wrong, I got all of those things and I really loved that but… I expected more. I wished the plot was different in a sense because of a certain character’s choices and if that had happen, then we would’ve had a different outcome.

Despite that, I still enjoyed this one and I loved that everything came together in the end. If you’re looking for a sultry dark read, this one is for you.

I’m not even mad anymore…just disappointed. Clearly, this author (and many other authors) has a very different definition of strong/badass women than I do and at this stage, it’s clear there’s just no point in expecting more or even trying any longer. I feel like a mother who keeps expecting better things from her kid, only to become so used to the constant disappointments that she’s not even mad anymore.

However, I am mad at one thing - please don’t try to make me believe through blurbs that you’re going to give me a badass heroine when in fact she is beyond pathetic and desperate.

Don’t make her live her whole life hating the cartel and its leader and building her whole life around taking them down, claiming she is a “worthy adversary” only to have her think this as she’s being fingered by the cartel leader (for the FIRST time): “I’m so focused on what he’s doing that I forget what I am…who I am…”

Don’t make her say she’s a “hard, formidable woman” (exact quote from heroines’ thoughts) only to jump on a man that she’s literally just caught cheating on her (3 used condoms clearly visible in his room), the lipstick from the prostitute still on his mouth, and after HITTING her too (not the hero):

“I sit up and look at him. Guilt shines in his gaze. He leans forward and kisses the corner of my mouth. I shouldn’t want him, not still wearing that woman’s lipstick and scent, but I do. I straddle his waist and cradle his face with my hands. We kiss slowly like teenagers and my heart sings.

“We can fix this,” I breathe against his mouth. “I forgive you.”

description

Or the next day:

“Last night I didn’t want to sleep with him because he’s had the prostitute here and my heart was broken, but today, I need to remind him why he wants me.”

Don’t make her say things like this: “My eyes prickle, but tears don’t form. I’ve spent almost twenty years learning to harden my heart and block my emotions. The last four, I’ve specifically honed that skill.”

When all of her actions demonstrate exactly the contrary. Come on man, it’s ridiculous. How can you claim she’s hardened her heart and blocked her emotions when she’d literally beg a man who hits and cheats on her for sex? Immediately after hitting her and finding out about the cheating? Or who forgets everything about herself when the man she’s dedicated most of her like to taking down first touches her?

I get that people aren’t perfect and that even the strongest of people have their weaknesses, but from what I’ve seen of Rosa, she’s not a strong woman whose weakness is an asshole (or 2, as in this books’ case), she is just a pathetic and desperate doormat with the occasional bout of badassery. I need the author to show me a lot more of a character for me to believe someone who is supposedly strong and who has this supernatural ability to control her feelings would act like this with a man who hits her and unapologetically cheats on her or clearly show that she actually has a lot of feelings that she absolutely cannot control - otherwise I’m just going to take it as it reads: a pathetic, desperate doormat who’s all talk and little action. Or a badly put together character whose actions make no sense.

In this case, both things.

Oh, and guess what makes her finally want to end things the POS who cheated on her, hit her, and treated her like an object for around 4 years? (or more like think about ending things, because he pretty much left her first)

“What am I even doing?” (as she’s having sex with the POS)

“One sick, twisted morning in Javier’s Estrada’s office and I’m suddenly questioning everything with Michael.”

A short fingering session with the man she’s worked her whole life to take down is what makes her “stronger” and makes her want to leave the POS…not hitting her, treating her like shit, horrible sex, onion breath, and unapologetically cheating on her.

description

I’m not going to deny that she had some badass moments, like when she saved a girl from being raped, or the fact that she’s been undercover for 4 years - but at the same time, she contradicted herself way too much and many of her actions screamed weakness.

And I also found it very difficult to believe that she was smart or strong enough to be this kind of CIA agent. Maybe a desk operative..but a field agent who goes undercover for years with a huge cartel? Ergh…not really. I’m not sure why I got this strong stink of stupidity from her, maybe it was all the talk about what a badass she was only to be proven differently through her actions, multiple times?

Or as Javier himself noticed, someone this nervous and awkward wouldn’t be a pro pretending to be a maid - and based on her previous thoughts, it wasn’t some amazing acting on her part so much as “omg this guy is like so hot”.

She was an exemplary maid though, the best in all the land (apparently no one could make a bed like she could) and for some reason, the author took the time to show that through actions. The maid work part of the story is the only one so far where she isn’t constantly contradicting herself from her thoughts to her actions. She is extremely professional, proud of her work, and tries to protect the girls that work with her. All great, but what about her lifelong quest? Like that’s why I’m reading a book about a supposed CIA badass - to read about her exemplary sheet folding and how she is the best maid in the house.

I just don’t find anything interesting about the stories of pathetic people - unless the story is about how they change (and not because of dick) or if it’s a really funny comedy - so yeah…dnf.

If you take a bottle of sexual tension, and a bottle of passion, mix them together and then shake them all up. Then you have El Malo.

Javier is the leader of a Mexican drug cartel, and Rosa is his maid. A maid with a grudge that she’s been just waiting to get her vengeance for. Let’s just say things don’t go quite how she envisioned.

El Male is sexy, fun, bloody, violent, and it kept me on edge until the very end, because I honestly wasn’t sure HOW it would end.

Another quick but FANTASTIC story from K Webster!

I didn’t like this book because of the h she was so annoying!
On a side note I really didn’t like the fact that H’s dad had loved his wife but after her death he ends up with another woman who was closer to H’s age. They were very sexual with each other....if he was going to end up with another woman why couldn’t she have been a mature woman? It’s just a personal gripe but I hate it when authors write storylines where H/h’s fathers who supposedly really love their first wife end up with younger women and start a new family!

Javier is a mafia king in Mexico so expect some dark material in this book. However, he was very good to the heroine and was extremely possessive of her. It's what really made this book for me. There were a few things I didn't care for but they didn't ruin the book for me.

“I’m going to have to kill you one day,” he snaps angrily... “Burned by the sun. Hurts so motherfucking much, but goddamn it’s beautiful.”

I'm having a lot of fun with this book. I think it balanced out the heavy smutty romance and the gruesome torture scenes really well; and that is all I want in a dark romance. Give me a little bit of love with a little bit gory, then I'll be all set.

Tw for rape and a whole lot of graphic physical violence.

Rosa has a mission in life that is to bring down the El Malo head Javier Estrada to avenge the death of a loved one. Pretending to be a maid she was able to get intel to report to her superior. Working at the estate she must be always on guard and be a keen observer of the things around her. If Rosa is watchful so does, the owner of the house, Javier Estrada. He knows how diligent Rosa in doing her job and admiring her beauty from afar. But things change when something happened to Rosa and Javier was there to help her. From that moment, the mutual attraction is undeniable. Expect an intense, scorching and definitely hot of the chart sexy time between this two.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This isn't my first book from this author but the storyline and the way it was written just BLEW ME AWAY! I thought this book may be too dark for me, but I here I am praising how good it is! Javier is a perfect anti-hero but I eventually like his dark, ruthless, mean persona. I like Rosa and her strong-willed character although at times she became vulnerable to the charms of Javier. But who wouldn't? Just expect the unexpected when you read this book. It was really a good read for me and if you like to meet a dark, ruthless, sexy-as-hell hero look no further El Malo is for you!

Sürekli, el Mano'nun malına-kadınına dokunana nolur deyip önüne geleni öldürüyor ama kardeşinden bacaklarını tut deyip finger-fuck yapmaktan, kadınlığı gözecek kadar ince ve minicik bikiniyle dolaşmasından, dans pistinde herkesin göreceği şekilde boşaltmaktan, güvenmediği adamının önünde soyup dokunma deyip ama odadan da çıkartmayıp izletmekten, fake lashes, heavy make-up ve dressed like a whore of mob kinge bayılmaktan geri durmuyor.

Sikerleeer.

His fingers slide to the back of my skull and he grips my hair almost to the point of pain. He clutches my throat with his other hand. “I’m greedy, manzanita. When I want something, I find a way to have it. I will have it. And as you know, I take care of my things once I get them.” He doesn’t choke me, simply holds me in an almost reverent way. “If you’re not ready for me to suck you into my world, you need to back out right the fuck now.”
I part my lips and meet his blazing gaze. “You’d let me climb out of this car and walk away if I said I didn’t want to be sucked in?”
His lips quirk up on one side. “Fuck no. You’re already here. You belong to El Malo now, so deal with it.” And with those words, he presses his soft lips to mine.

Napim yükseliyorum dkxldkflflf

“Too late to back out now.”
“I’m not backing out,” she murmurs. Her lip trembles. “I’m just scared.”
“Of me, manzanita?”
Tears well in her eyes. “Of everything.”
I press a kiss to her plump lips. “I’ll protect you from all of it.”
“Who will protect me from you?” A single tear rolls out.
My hands slide to her shoulders and I peel her dress down, baring her breasts to me. “No one will protect you. I’m going to take you and use you and own you. Mine, mami.”

IMO not Webster's best book, not even one of her better ones...! My biggest 'problem' was: Rose was 4 years under cover before El Malo even noticed her? That's unbelievable (too) long to be undercover. And this Michael dude? Rosa was a smart girl, how could she not see what an A-hole he was??
A nice read but I'd expected much more from 'a Webster'.

Boh insomma, non so neanche bene cos'altro dire.

P.S. - di JEFE ce n'è uno solo. DRACO MOLINA.

Oh God. I usually don't like to speak in the extremes but I just have to be honest today: This is the worst book I have ever read in my entire life and I don't think anything will top this.

I thought since we were told our heroine was going to be this "hard, formidable badass CIA agent' I was in for a ride but oh lord don't get me started. She's little more than gum stuck under somebody's shoe- merely calling her a doormat would be too generous cause even that has a purpose. Constantly referred to as a thing, an object to shove a dick in by the hero and likes it. Horribly pathetic, dumb as hell, needy with no spine at all, zero strength- both physically and mentally; she's literally a disgrace to women everywhere. But what is even worse is that they keep telling us she is strong, brave, likes danger like BITCH WHERE??? Don't lie to the reader and act like we are imbeciles who can't see things for what they are. The writer keeps telling me to believe that eggs can fly and I am personally offended by this.

The book itself is also ridiculous. Aside from all the torture he does to people that is supposed to make the hero a total baddie, more often than not his thought process seems that of a honry idiotic 14 year old boy.

There is no plot and the writing is mediocre at best.

After 70% and still no luck at getting something of quality, I just started fast forwarding wondering if the end will have something good but nope awful till the very last moment.

Ofcourse some will cry 'oh it was too dark for you' or 'it was an acquired taste' but nah boo I have read my fair share of dark and this book was way out of its depth. The author used crudeness, violence, raunchy sex and in your face rape scenes for the shock value and to disturb people but sorry it doesn't effect shit when the characters are underdeveloped nincompoops.

I was just angry at this. Hated the heroine, the hero and the lack of plot. Most likely going to blacklist this writer.

Doesn't even deserve one star so heed my advice, dodge the bullet and don't waste your money on this.

4.5 bloody wicked stars 🤩

Webster is at her best in this mafia dark romance dotted with blood which this time finally spills from those who deserve it.

Javier is a sexy, dark and ruthless Mafia King
Rosa is a strong, beautiful passionate woman with a plan for revenge.

Needless to say when these two meet sparks are meant to happen, hot, steamy and indulgent sex is to follow and ultimately love binds them together as one .

I think this author is really in her domain with this type of romance when twisted and killings feels just right, I know it sounds crazy but her talent is just that! To make you oversees the craziness in her stories to only focus on her strong character and you cannot but feel the hots for them both females and males 😏

Entertaining

There were a lot of gritter, darker details that made this read quite uncomfortable yet,

El Malo is sinfully delicious, smoldering hot and off the charts panty melting. I want more of Javier and Rosa!

Goodness! There's really a reason why I love K. Websters' books. I am a perv, I love filthy and sinfully explicit scenes but more than that what I love about K's words is beyond how she fed my addiction. I was sucked right into the world of El Malo. First pages in and I could not put the book down. I love the thrill and the cringe worthy scenes it gave me as I was turning the pages like a mad woman looking for her next fix. El Malo is that, call me sick and twisted but every words she's written as she weaved the tale of Javier and Rosa is felt all throughout my system. I was soaked as I dived into their world, completely drawn to what Kristi managed to deliver. And boy, how she delivers! Just Wow!

Indeed, Kristi never failed to amaze me. She still has that power to consume me with every words she's written. As I said, I was easily drawn into the story flipping the pages, eager to know what will happen next. I may have been looking forward to more blood, filth and dark scenes but I can't deny the fact that I enjoyed reading this book so much. I was in the edge reading it. I was captivated by Javier. His and Rosa's chemistry just fueled my need to keep on flipping the pages as my reader was burning so hot with their smokin' scenes.

Overall, I like this book. It's fast paced, well written as always, bloody, sinful and oh so sexy!

Great job Kristi! I can't wait for what you're in store fornus next!

h was one of the worst i read in a long time!

She was the one "cheating" and got herself cheated at. She catch her "boyfriend" with a prostitute and has sex with him right after... he still smelled like the OW. All because she got 2 finger up her and liked it.
To a CIA "agent" she was stupid has a door, IMO she let herself be raped!!! How can a trained agent just gives up fighting after being pushed to a bed!! Its humiliating to female law enforces and women in general!!!! NEVER STOP FIGHTING!!
Her mental state is also questionable.

H was typical possessive mafia mob boss, but i liked the anti-hero vibe... He was fair, loyal, respected women and was against hitting women!
He torture and killed a pedophile and it make me happy!!! That's why it got 2 stars!!!

Story was more of the same!!!

It started well...loved the scene when Rosa tried to save the maid...but then it went downhill. For Pete's sake she was meant to work for the CIA, and she crumbles at the first bit of attention of the 'baddie' even though she has been 'working' as his maid for 4 years already! She let's herself be treated terribly by her boyfriend - slapped, used etc. The 'baddie' hero flashes her privates to every Tom, Dick and Harry but apparently he is possessive of her (yeah right!). He sums it all up when he says all he has to do is whisper a few sweet nothings and she becomes pliable and would do anything. Not the strong independent woman I thought she would be. Works for the CIA my a**.
