When the Global Allegiance terminated all Cyborgs, rumors were rampant that they still existed, either hidden away with wealthy collectors or—even more scandalous—part of the Cyborg Rebellion.

Iris

I collect stuff. Some call me a hoarder. I prefer the term treasure hunter. In my wildest dreams I never thought I’d find a cyborg but maybe my dreams should have been wilder because that’s exactly what I find.
Big, blue and now mine, I take him home promising him that he is now free.
I can’t help the fact he is sexy as hell...and that blue is my favorite color.

478 Dash 942

I have been kept locked in a box, hidden away and forgotten.
Then I am pulled from my box by a strange human female who calls herself Iris.
Iris gives me a name and promises that I am no longer just a possession.
That my job is no longer only to serve.
The thought is terrifying but for the first time I feel hope.
Maybe this human is truly different.
One thing I know for sure is that Iris is fascinating and...tempting.

Kelsey Nicole Price is a midwestern girl who shares her brain with a lovable bunch of cyborgs and a stray alien or two. While other girls were dreaming of Brad Pitt she was crushing hard on a certain android from Star Trek TNG.

As an adult she longed for a cyborg of her own so she decided she'd write him. One blue cyborg turned into a whole bunch of different colored cyborgs and she couldn't be happier that she gets to tell their stories.

When she's not writing she can be found watching Unsolved Mysteries with her hubby, snuggling her two cats, indulging in any kind of dessert and secretly wishing for a pet sloth.

Cyborg rainbow!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: ☺️😊😁😉🥰

The Hero: Dash (a.k.a. 478-942) - he was a service cyborg. Bought and sold to many different masters during his time. He was often used and abused by his owners. Cyborgs were hard to damage, but some of his owners tried every way of hurting him until they were able to find ways that even left scars on his nearly indestructible skin. When the makers of cyborgs discovered that their creations had that spark of life (a soul) that made them sentient beings, the Global Allegiance recalled all of them and had them destroyed, it became illegal to own a cyborg and 478-942 was put in a box and in a warehouse that was later abandoned.

The heroine: Iris - she loves the past and everything about it. She started collecting junk from the past when she was young and now she does it for a living. She scours abandoned homes and buildings and sells some of her finds online. Some she keeps for herself. Her mother hates her job, but Iris doesn’t care, she makes enough money to eat and pay rent and lives the life she likes.

The story: One day when Iris is scavenging an abandoned warehouse, she finds a large box and manages to open it, finding a cyborg. She calls him Dash and tells him she is not his owner, that he is free to make his own decisions and she takes him home with her. He is a big, handsome blue man, and she is attracted to him from the start, but makes sure he knows that his choices are his.

Things start to get really interesting when they meet two new cyborgs from the cyborg rebellion. I liked this book, it was different than any cyborg book I have read before, most of which take place in space. Though the themes were somewhat the same as many other cyborg book (cyborgs being destroyed and made illegal), the fact that it takes place on earth is quite different and I liked the dystopian feel.

There were a bunch of supporting characters in this book and I liked them all and found myself wanting to know more about each of them. Each type of cyborg has a different skin color, like the technology ones are purple, the military are grey, the science model is green and more. I will most likely pick up more of this series. I just wish they were available in audiobook format. Though as much as I like audiobooks, lately I have felt the need to do more actual reading, so I will get them.

Uneven but interesting

Cyborg Dash and human Iris are interesting characters. They save the story with their quirks and sweetness. There is so much potential with the world the author creates, but sadly it is not fully realized. Lovers of sci-fi need to suspend their belief even more than usual, and then core issues are never explained. I wish there was less focus on sex and more on the dramatic story line and the reason and reality for the cyborgs' existence. On to book two to see if more unfolds. Plus, Reaper sounds completely intriguing.

This story could have been so good! It got my heart with quotes like this.
If I wasn’t her cyborg, then maybe she could be my human. I didn’t think I’d mind if she belonged to me.
Dash is a service cyborg. Build specifically to pleasure the humans that purchased it. But something went wrong (or right) with cyborg programming and they were banned, and mostly destroyed.
Created in 2217, technology had finally developed to the level that allowed for advanced artificial intelligence. The cyborgs had turned out to be so much more. They weren’t simply computer programming stuffed into a human-looking body like the older versions. These had a spark; that elusive bit of magic that created life. These cyborgs had souls. The scientists had no idea what caused it.
The cyborgs are rainbow colored and the h gives them nicknames like Blueberry, Kiwi, and Great White. This book was a confusing mix of lighthearted joking and traumatic dark moments. Although I liked the concept, it was disjointed and didn’t flow well.

Recommended for fans of AI/cyborg romances with a side of extra cheese.

DNF

Stopped at 60%. Just too stupid for words. Good idea, just crap writing and lack of character development. The h is a rambling idiot.

Horrible. DNF at like 4% because the protag was a 5 year old in an adults body and it hit the ground running with instalove.

I stuck it out, but I wanted to quit.

I didn’t think this book deserved a dnf, but it was hard to get to the finish line. My main complaint was the OVERREACTING that all the characters did. I mean, come on, people act according to their character and they react the same way. All of these characters acted like pubescent teenagers and it hurt to read that in characters that were allegedly 30-ish years old. It was not easy to get past all the inorganic conversation. I liked the idea of the story more than the actual execution of it. I’m not at all convinced the second book will be good because the characters clash so badly. I’m hoping the author’s writing style matured a bit with the second book. It would be nice to not feel like I’m reading a teen-fiction with as much sex as an erotica.

4.5 *I want to meet a cyborg* stars

I really loved this book. It was a fun, quick read, that gave me lots of feels.

Dash is set in the future and is about 478 DASH 942, "Dash", a service cyborg and 28 year old Iris. Dash is pretty much a sex bot, created to please his owner no matter how cruelly he is treated. Iris happened upon Dash in an old warehouse and released him from the box he was stored in, even though it was illegal to harbor cyborgs and the penalty is death.

This book was full of romance and excitement with a bit of mystery and suspense. I really enjoyed it from beginning to end.

This is the first book by this author and I am so excited to see what she comes out with next.

Dash. He's a big blue service cyborg. And the service he was created to perform... is personal *ahem**cough*.

Unfortunately, the life of a service cyborg is not an easy one. He's been used and abused by his creators as well as his previous owners.

Then, when the government decides that the Cyborgs needed to be decommissioned... Dash was boxed up and put out with the trash. That is, until his box is discovered by the trash searching collector, Iris. One woman's trash is another woman's illegal sexy service cyborg, am I right?

Dash's story has set the stage for the rest of the Cyborgs to tell their stories and further the main plot (viva la cyborg revolution!). Good world building and storytelling round out this author's first scifi novel. I feel emotionally invested to the characters and interested in reading about the other colorful cyborgs in future books for this series.

I want to taste this rainbow. 🌈

💙💙💙 3 big blue hearts for Dash /5
A good cyborg romance I would recommend.

Disappointed

I hate writing bad reviews. After all they are really just readers opinions. I just didn’t like this book. Personally I’m not a fan of first person books but that’s not what made this a one star for me.
Dash is a cyborg originally designed to be a pleasure bot with enhanced senses. My issue with him is that from the first chapter he not only has a panic attack but he feels all human emotions including pain. Ok??? Why would a pleasure bot be designed to feel pain and have panic attacks?? We all know AI have the ability to evolve into free thinking entities but the emotions that dash was given just don’t make sense. He was written as if he were human with occasional robotic tendencies. It just didn’t add up for me.
The female lead was no better. She’s found a cyborg sex model that’s been banned on the penalty of death. And what does she do? Goes and blabs to everyone. I could not get into this book and I’ll admit I didn’t finish it. I’m glad for the other readers that enjoyed it but no more for me thanks.

A nice debut book. It starts a little hard to read but quickly smooths out.

I like Iris and Dash. Two very nice people (yes, one is a cyborg but still a person) who are not the normal of society who find each other in the outskirts. Iris has some hoarding issues and I would like to see how that plays out in her future since those are usually psychologically hard to overcome.

Dash has an innocence to him that allows his hope and joy-seeking personality to shine through.

The beanie babies are a totally fun addition to the cyborg story!

The h is a hoarder, finds a cyborg and takes him home. He is so grateful at being treated like a person, she is quite a sweetie but a little ditzy. It was OK, quite steamy but not really for adults, characters were childish.

First book from this author.
I have this thing when it comes to torture heroes and the females that are strong enough to restore them, it just touches my heart every time.
Over 30 years ago the Global Alliance (GA) decided to “retired” A.K.A terminate all cyborgs under the false pretense that their programing was defective. The population was forced to return all models to the GA, it was a death sentence to harbor/protect a cyborg.
Iris is what I would call a futuristic hoarder, she goes to abandoned places looking for treasures that she sales, or keep, depending on her mood. That’s how she found Dash, a “service” cyborg that has been deeply hurt and abused by his previous owner and then left to rot in an abandoned warehouse.
I thoroughly enjoy Dash and Iris story, is funny with a fresh twist, and is hot and sweet and just all around delicious; this is the perfect book to enjoy in a rainy afternoon with a hot chocolate.
I can’t wait for the next book! 😊

I was hooked from the first chapter to the end . I really enjoyed this book. Now I'm excited about Reaper and mini-reaper cure little battles. I was hooked especially when there's kids. Can't wait for book two to arrive.

This was book #6 for Romanceopoly 2020.

Square: Outer Space (Sci Fi)
Challenge Pack: Moon
Challenge: Read a sci fi with an alien or cyborg main character.

Okay, this was a genre that I was not looking forward to - I've never been all that into sci fi (though fantasy is another story...) so I had no clue where to start. I really wasn't feeling an alien story, so I opted for a cyborg one - it's close enough to a human, right? I digress... so with no clue where to start on this one, I turned to the lovely ladies running Romanceopoly for this one. After clicking through on all their suggestions, I decided that Dash would be the winner - and as a bonus, it was available on KU.

Iris is a collector. Some might say she's a hoarder. She collects old things that people find no value in and gives them a home, occasionally reselling them to keep a roof over her head. Her prize find has been a box of Beanie Babies - well, it was until the night she found Dash. Dash is a cyborg who was packed in a crate and hidden in an abandoned warehouse and Iris stumbles upon him. The problem is that all cyborgs were to have been turned in and terminated 30 years before as the Global Alliance has deemed them defective and dangerous. Dash is a service unit - he was created solely for his owners' pleasure... or sadistic torture. It takes a lot to leave permanent marks on a cyborg and his previous owners have definitely tortured him. If Iris is found with him, she could be executed and Dash exterminated, so naturally she takes him with her and hides him. As he's a service unit, all he wants to do is obey his programming and service Iris, but Iris wants him to be free to make his own choices and to not just listen to his programming. A fight between the two of them causes Dash to shut down his unit himself and while Iris is trying to figure out how to turn him back on, she's discovered... by a couple of cyborgs from the cyborg... underground? Resistance? Anyway, after convincing them of her sincerity and love for him, they turn him back on and take them into hiding, just as the government discovers her secret and takes a friend of hers into "custody" - basically, they took her as a hostage to get Iris to give herself and Dash up.

This was a decent book that sets up the world they live in. While this was not my cup of tea, I found myself enjoying the book and wondering what will happen in the other books... so I may end up downloading those and giving them a read at some point.

A wonderful surprise. Full disclosure: I clicked on this book by accident while looking at books on my kindle. But after I read the blurb I thought it sounded good and decided to buy it and give it a shot. I am so glad that I did. I loved it.

First our hero, Dash, is this wonderful combination of innocence and jaded. He is a service bot (service, as in "I will service ALL of your needs") who has spend the last 30 years sealed in a box after a succession of sadistic owners were finished with him. During that time the government has deemed all cyborgs defective and ordered their destruction. Iris is a treasure/trash hunter who spends her days crawling through abandoned buildings in search of interesting finds from the previous decades (centuries?). When she unseals his box she feels immediately sympathetic for his plight. Even though it is a death sentence to harbor a cyborg she doesn't care. Dash needs help and she's going to help him, she doesn't care that he is a cyborg. As far as she is concerned, he should have the same rights as any other sentient being.

I love that, while the physical attraction is nearly instant the emotional entanglements take time to grow. No insta-love here! It's just a really great story. You get the Cybrog Resistance, fun, awkward grumpy cyborgs and cruel government representatives all in one story. I do with some sections of the book had been expanded a bit, like the time the two are captive and I would have loved more everyday interactions with other cyborg rebellion members but really it was a great book. Especially for a first book. Great job.

Read this book if you are looking for a sweet love story, rainbow colored sizzling hot cyborgs with a side of Beanie Babies.

Best accidental find ever!!

I was swiping through my kindle unlimited when I came upon Dash. I love cyborg romances so I decided to read the description and a few reviews. One of the reviews mentioned that they laughed out loud several times. I decided to take a chance and it's the best decision I've made in a long time. This book brought me joy. I laughed myself silly more than a few times. Two words beanie babies that's all I'm saying you have to read it. Iris is a young women who loves that past, a treasure hunter that finds beauty in things people now find obsolete. One one of her nighttime hunts she comes across Dash. Dash is a gorgeous blue cyborg that was literally built for pleasure. When iris finds him she knows she can't leave him in that box, she knows what will happen to him if the global alliance finds him. You see they were deemed dangerous and damaged because they didn't act like property. So the GA rounded them up and killed them/disassembled them and any human trying to hide or save them was tortured and killed as well. Iris and Dash have a connection from the minute he opens his eyes and the fun begins. Watching them interact and the banter between them is fabulous. You Will smile and laugh out loud. But that not all Kelsey Price has done a wonderful job world building and the character development is terrific. Your emotions will run the gambit. You'll laugh, smile, get missed and you will cry . It's worth every second. I will definitely be purchasing my own copy of the book and I'll be reading the rest of the series as well. During this stressful time a book like this was a Ray of light dispelling the gloom. I highly recommend you read this fabulous book.💖💖💖💖💖💖

I have to admit I don't like when cyborgs are used and abused and then forcibly terminated. Actually, I don't like it when that happens to anything or anyone. But cyborgs are my personal kryptonite. So, yeah. Dash and his brethren totally have reason to rise up against the GA and cause a little havoc, in my book.

Let's look at how things played out, shall we? Dash is created, abused, and boxed up before the GA can grab him. He's lived a life of pain and humiliation and he's still bound to serve whoever finds him. Which blows, man. Hard. Fortunately for him, Iris isn't vindictive or cruel. She's a little confused by finding a cyborg while treasure hunting, but she never treats him like he's less than her.

As it turns out, that's what matters to Dash and his fellow cyborgs.

When a mission to save Iris's friend goes horribly wrong, everyone realizes how much much these two mean to one another and the lengths they'll go to never leave the other's side.

I have to say, I liked Dash, but I'm even more intrigued by the other models introduced along the way. Here's to seeing how their story plays out.

I had a hard time with the immaturity of the characters. I struggled with my feelings towards Iris. She started out fairly even tempered but as the plot moved along she became sophomoric and dramatic. I admired her determination and loyalty but it was over shadowed by her hasty presumptions followed by childish tantrums. Sometimes this immature outbursts would be trailed by smutty good times. Which was jarring to say the least.
Dash was somewhat more poised but I still don't understand how an android could produce jizz but not tears? On that note is he actually a cyborg? Not really because a cyborg by definition is a person whose physiological functioning is aided by or dependent upon a mechanical or electronic device not his whole body is a mechanical device. I understand that may be semantics but...
That being said I am still willing to try other books in this series. The writing was okish and I kind of want to read about Acer and Dax.

Dash

I always like cyborg romances because they explore the way humans treat each other from a sort of ground zero. The MMC is a cyborg on some future earth (not so far ahead that beanie babies would have deteriorated) and of course their personhood is being called into question.

The author does a good job of pointing out how horribly humans treat human like creatures when they don't consider them a person. The bottomless cruelty the MMC has been treated with is historically common in the real world and this fictional one. Human (mostly women), child, and sex trafficking impacts thousands of people a year in the real world, and it's 2025 in the US and the Epstein files still haven't been released and we have been putting hundreds of people in detention camps against all human rights.

Keep shining the light into our darkest corners, author. Thank you

This Book!!!!! From this point on I will buy every book this author writes because she is amazing! I loved the characters in this book and feel like Iris and I could become besties! This book made me laugh out loud literally until people looked t me funny and yet could also make me tear up with its poignant moments. The evolution of Dash as he learns to trust and laugh and love is wonderfully written with so much heart behind the character. AND it doesn't end there. Secondary characters are also so well written that I can't wait until the next book comes out! If you love scifi, cyborgs, comedy, action, romance, and beanie babies....this book with knock your socks off! Get it...it is so worth it!

58% done and I can't go any further. I try to look past the slang language, both 'real' and made up by the author', and the silly pet names the main character gives pretty much every Cyborg she meets, but I just can't. And falling in love immediately...yeah, not real!

I know, I know...this isn't a book to seek out if I'm looking for a good base to the story line, this is a 'sex' book. But author's word choice, sentence structure and dialogue had me wanting to poke out my eyeballs!

The only reason I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 is because I liked the concept of the story and felt it could have been built up much better than it was. I like smut books as much as the next woman, but I like a well developed story too!

First in series

Blue is her color. Is what the song for this book.
I had mixed feelings about the story. On one hand I did not buy the concept and some parts, but I did like the characters. I enjoyed her fierce defense of the cyborgs. I liked the authors attempt to show the differences of opinions, and changing of them as her friend looked at things differently.
What I got stuck on was how no one spread word via media, and word of mouth. No way all of the “units” would have been owned by sick humans like Blueberries. Or there friends, family, etc would not have spilled the beans.
Know series is written but maybe if a future one show up, have a rich human group that spirited them away to another planet, place to protect them.

Benefits of being blue

In a world where cyborgs were tried, then destroyed.. Iris finds a blue one in a dusty warehouse.. and takes him home. Dash is a Service Model, built for pleasure, but never having found it. I loved the way these two both had to learn how to deal with the other, and how to love the other. I loved meeting the other cyborgs, and Iris' human friends. The author managed to find the right balance of silly, happy, serious, and even sad. The characters are a little broken, but aren't we all? Iris doesn't let anything stop her once she's determined, not even a cyborg who is stronger, faster, and just as determined. Great series starter without the drag that a lot of starters have.

Loved this book. It's in the future, where Iris looks for discarded items cause she loves the items of the past and she finds a cyborg, a blue sexy cyborg named Dash. But 30 years previously all cyborgs were destroyed because they developed self awareness and souls. That doesn't stop Iris and Dash from falling in love and trying to have a future. OF course there are those out there wanting to destroy all cyborgs and there are a lot more cyborgs who find Iris and Dash and try to protect them. I am so hoping that Reaper and all the other cyborgs will have a story from her. This is an exciting well written, funny book and I enjoyed it immensely.

Read this in a day. I love how Kelsey Nicole Price created this world. I read and fell in love with Dash and the other characters.
This is the story of Dash and Iris. It is far in the future and cyborgs are a thing of the past. They were all terminated by their creator because they found that they were not mindless machines but had a malfunction, "feelings/souls". Iris during her hunting (savaging) she found a old model and right away told him he was free and didn't have to service her and she would help answer any questions along the way.
This was a moving and heartfelt story of their journey to find Dashes independence and the connection they make.

So good

So funny, so exciting. There were a few scene jumps that I expected to read, but the author skipped writing them and jumped to the next scene having the characters just say what happened. I think she knows her strengths as a writer, maybe she wasn't ready to tackle really big action scenes, idk, but it was ok, what she did write is a great book! I had a smirk on my face and laughed out loud more than once while reading :) loved the characters and the world building. Waiting for the next books....!

Love this!

Cyborg romance isn’t a genre I typically read but this one called to me. So glad I gave it a try! Most of the ones I have tried were heavy in the pain stuff which doesn’t appeal. Monsters, fine. A little keep your hands right there, cool. Raise a hand? Best wave goodbye, not my thing. These two were SO SWEET! It was a lovely story and I can’t believe Iris didn’t have more friends because she was awesome! Give this one a try, it’s a definite HEA and feel good all-in-one!!

Love it must buy

This marvelously sweet and fun story was a wonderful read. The characters where relatable and likeable. The villains we're evil and twisted. With every new cyborg I wanted to hear their story too. Dash and Iris truly go through some hard times and trauma and their happiness is well earned and even made this reader give out a little of Yay. 😅. Now I even want to find out who else gets beanie babies 😂. I absolutely fell in love with Dax and his personality. So many likable characters and possibly stories.
