On the last day of the hunting season, hunters fill the woods in Colorado hoping to take home a trophy for the year. Out-of-state hunters become discouraged quickly when they fail to get the animal they desire the most—an elk. Failures come fast for the hunters until a teammate spots a magnificent zebra with a golden belly running through the woods. Word travels fast with aggressive hunters in the area, and the hunt is on. For Jerry, it’s a typical day on the range until he realizes he is being chased. Up the hills and through the woods, he runs until he encounters a mystifying cloud that would change his world forever. Should he enter or run back into his familiar territory? Something pushes him on. Once he enters the cloud, he meets a challenge that will alter his personality forever. Heaven awaits with golden riches, but he must complete a hike with a wise-crack guide. The story is gifted with laughter, tricks, and life-changing events for the zebra. Jerry embarks on a journey that will help you understand the power of love and how far he will go to meet his father and save his family.

This is such a cute story. I read it then reread it to my niece. We both really enjoyed it. We meet Jerry the zebra at the beginning while he is running away from hunters. Jerry is special. This story takes us on his adventure and see how his decision make him think. Great read for elementary kids.

This was a very well written story, so much so, you feel as if you are in the story yourself. I would definitely recommend this book for older elementary students and middle school aged kids. If teaches many lessons throughout the book that would benefit this specific age group.

This is a very well written book that has many life lessons children can understand and learn from. I read it for my daughter and she enjoyed it so I definitely recommend this book to parents out there. Fantastic book.

The book was enlightening to say the least. Who would of thought that someone could create a golden belly zebra and that he is a king of the heaven. Jerry heads out for a regular day thinking his life will be the same. He meets a cousin who leads him on the adventure of his life. When he gets to the other side, he impatient personality is tested beyond his limits. Right in his own backyard, he finds magic and make believe that is enchanting but a bit heart breaking. In the end, Jerry enters the other side and finds the biggest surprise of his life. I don't want to spoil the end, but I rate the book a five.

This is a fabulous read with an awesome lesson for children. It is a wonderful story that captivated this old lady and I had to read it to the end. It is worth it! I highly recommend this.

The only thing I disliked was hunters hunting down these poor animals but I love how this story took a simple hunt into something magical. Jerry the Zebra life was changed for the better and the way the writer takes you for a normal area to a place that is full of joy and peace no danger hangs in the air. Just such a well written story that is more than what I expected but I did truly enjoy reading it.
