Their chance meeting soon turns to affection, however this is 1914 and the world is rapidly spiralling towards one of the most brutal and lengthy conflicts the world has witnessed. A tale that crosses the waters from England to Southern Africa, it is a perfect combination of romance and drama underscored with detailed observations of the wartime era.
”An absorbing tale of courage and adventure, love and loss, in which the over-riding theme is the abiding strength of family bonds.”
About the author
Under the Same Moon is the memorable fiction debut of Australian writer Chris Durrant. A natural story-teller, the author weaves the true-life story of an uncle who fought the Germans in East Africa into a wide-ranging tale that encompasses a cast of characters that readers will find hard to forget. From the secure hamlets of Yorkshire to the bleak and brutal battlefields of Europe and Africa, Under the Same Moon , is a tale told with humour and humanity from the differing perspectives of its central characters.
The author has put together an intriguing tale which leads us from rural Yorkshire to World War I France and to Africa, from a sweet love story to the horrors of war, injury and death. A good read!
The historical novel “Under The Same Moon” by Chris Durrant is a thoroughly interesting, and really engrossing read! His eclectic characters intertwine to illustrate a tale of love and war in a time 100 years ago. There’s joy, bravery and sadness in equal measure, and I found it hard to put this book down. The scene progresses from family life in York to war-torn Europe and southern Africa. The book is written with economy of style and is really easy to absorb. Gripping!
