Rate this book
Approached in the woods by a rather hideous, three-foot tall man-creature, William and Anna Archer, are given a message from their mother via a crystal ball. They are to follow the messenger through a magical portal to find her.

In this modern-day fairy tale, the twelve-year-old, telepathic twins uncover a world hidden behind an enchanted mist conjured by five sorcerers to protect all magical beings from the human world. A world that is now terrorized by a dark and destructive force sweeping across the land, threatening their very existence.

The twins embark on a perilous quest to save their mother and the grandfather they never knew existed. Fantasy has turned into reality for the Archer twins, and the safety of all magical beings now rests in their hands.

This book reminded me of other fantasy books I have loved, like the Jinx Hamilton series. There are so many magical creatures in this one, each with their own special abilities. Each is described in a way that allows the reader to picture exactly what they looked like - there are even a few new creatures to fall in love with.

It's very well written and it draws the reader into the magical world of Misteria. The avid descriptions allow the reader to see the amazing landscape of this (mostly) beautiful land, along with the not-so-lovely landscape of the dangerous portion of that little world.

The story revolves around 12-year-old telepathic twins Anna and Will, who must venture into a world they never knew existed to save their beloved mother. Despite being stone-cold scared to death, they soldier on, despite everything the dark side of Misteria throws at them along the way. Making friends with some unusual beings who save their lives more than once, Anna and Will will stop at nothing to find their mom.

This is a great read for all ages and the author did a fantastic job of bringing the world of Misteria to life.

This wonderful story may technically be classified as a “middle grade”, but it will certainly appeal to all ages. Fans of the Land of Stories series will definitely love this one, as that one focused on fairytale characters, this story focuses on a beautiful land full of all of the fairytale creatures we have come to love – from elves to fairies to giants…the list goes on, but I don’t want to spoil it, as the excitement of meeting them as they come up is all part of the fun.

Cameo Renae has always been a builder of beautiful worlds, and this is certainly no exception. As we travel through Misteria, getting to know it through the eyes of the twins, Will and Anna, she shows us that even through danger and destruction, true beauty and strength never dies. A perfect combination of the land and those who inhabit it create a land we all dream exists somewhere, named Misteria.

Will, Anna and their friend Henry were fun, yet tough (most of the time) kids that we watched be forced to grow up quickly as the story went on, but Renae did a wonderful job at showing that although they were facing adult problems, they were still kids at heart.

I really loved this story and all of the characters we met along the way, and I hope there are more stories to follow, since there are a lot of characters there that I’m sure have very interesting lives, and could occasionally use the help of some very special twins.

A super interesting ya read. I loved that the author made the fantastical world exist within ours and the trio of heroes start out as regular everyday teenagers.

Playing up the twin phenomena as actually telepathy between the pair thanks to their Sorceress/Elvin blood was very clever. Henry was both an aggravating and occasionally cowardly seeming but also loyal to his friends, brave enough to stay at their sides regardless of his fear, and he proved quite the helpful member of their troupe.

Through their journey to save the magical world their grandfather created they teamed up with or got help from elves, a unicorn, Satyr, Pixie, Sprites, mermaids, water nymph, a dragon shifter, and a myriad of other paranormal fairytale creatures. I loved how uniquely but clearly each of them are portrayed.

The book is a bit gory and dark for some ya readers, I'd really suggest it for those in high school versus some ya readers that are in fifth to eighth grade. There's battles, eviscerated villains, explosions of creatures and more, but not so graphic as to remove the ya grouping. It's more never ending story vs walking dead.

I wish this book had been around when I was younger as I'd have been all over it back then, fantasy and magical worlds with wonderful creatures has always been something I loved. So I really fell in love with Misteria, getting to know the different being and going on such a wonderful journey. The twins Will and Anna are lovely, I liked how they both got their chance to shine though and had moments apart so it wasn't all focused on their joint strength. It was interesting to see them develop apart alongside their telepathy and all of the characters were so much fun.

I loved Henry and Ashlyn especially as they were super adorable, he made me smile throughout and Ashlyn was just awesome. There are so many amazing characters it would be difficult to mention them all, but I enjoyed every single one. Even the villains were interesting, even though I did see the twist from the start I was still really happy with how it ends.

Overall I really enjoyed this book, It just didn't grab me fully as I'm not into Ya or middle grade as much these days. So completely out of what I'd usually pick, yet it made me think of my childhood and I had a lot of fun going an adventure to Misteria for a while so was rather refreshing.

Typos, repetitions, and contradictions. An important amulet virtually ignored for potential. Two kids who individually alternate between cowardly and brave or protective and sniveling self-pity. It could have been so good a book....

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

Misteria was such a blast to read. It’s everything you could want in a fantasy. It had dragons, unicorns, fairies and more. It was beautifully written, with such descriptions that I could envision what each creature looked like – even the unfamiliar ones.

I really enjoyed the story overall. It was fast paced, and didn’t waste any time getting to the action. I found myself wishing I could read faster, to see what happened next, and then at the end, wishing there was more to read.

Anna and Will were great main characters. At 12, they were so brave, yet they acted their age as well. I think that’s really important if you’re going to write a book about young main characters. If they start acting too old, it takes away from the story. I never felt like this was an issue – the kids all spoke and acted like kids.

Cameo Renae is a fantastic author who has created such a beautiful world called Misteria. While the book is aimed at the young, adults can thoroughly enjoy this one as well.

Straight to it. From beginning to end the story keeps you wanting to know. The characters embrace each other within the story so lovingly and when they need to be firm they are. You feel every emotion from happy to sad to scared. The story keeps your attention and you follow every word. I like it and the ending had a little twist.

Anna and Will are the main characters who never knew they were royalty or that they had powers. When they find out they thrust into a new world and must learn to use and control their powers in order to save this new world and their family. They meet a unicorn, a Centaurian, and others along the way that help them to be more positive and confident with themselves.

Do they do it? Do they defeat the evil and save their new world and family?

This had the happiest ending that I've ever read!! I loved this book. It totally gave me all the feels and made my heart super happy. It very quickly grabs you and before you know it, you are smack dab in the middle of one amazing adventure! The twins are so very likable and even though they are afraid, they soldier on for the good of Misteria. We meet so many beloved creatures and a lot of frightening ones as well. There really are some gross creatures! I loved that family and friendship played such a pivotal role in this story. This really is the perfect book to introduce to readers of all ages. I can't imagine any little one to not be on the edge of their seat. This is filled with things that go bump in the night and the heroes that vanquish them. This is not only perfect for those that are young, it's a beautiful tale for those young at heart. Ms. Renae is such a vivid storyteller!! Her creativity is so very genius and unique! I absolutely adore her 💖💖💖💖

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from Lady Amber's PR*

I liked this. I thought it was very appropriate for the target audience (MG/YA) and I liked that it was clean and consistently quick but continued to be entertaining. The fast pace, with multiple POV and a narrator's tone, made for a nice fantasy read full of fairytales and nightmares. The twins learned a lot about themselves, made relations and found more confidence in their abilities through the different magical races, which I thought was cool. I personally would enjoy this more if everyone got to be delved in a little more, as some people had a lot of great complex pasts, but otherwise I thought this book hit the mark on its target readers. The ending was really good, it's a classic retelling of good vs evil and working together, and overall it's a recommend if you want a clean and quick fantasy.

I received a copy of Misteria as part of Lady Ambers PR tour.

While I do not typically read MG/ YA novels, I was very much drawn to the cover of Misteria, which is stunning in itself and the storyline was a bonus.

Miss Renae wrote a story that is magical and incanting. She vividly takes you along on the journey of Anna and Will making you feel like anything in your imagination can be possible.

It was written perfectly for its target age group and if you or your children are a fan of fantasy’s and fairy-tales than Misteria is a must read. Where was this author when I was younger???

Overall I give Misteria 4 magical stars.

What an incredible world this was!

The characters were amazing and we felt a connection with the main characters Anna, Will and Henry.

The storyline was magnificent! It was full of a magical world full of many magical creatures. It was full of suspense with a bit of humor thrown in.

The narrators made this book so enjoyable to listen to and there was 23 narrators in total! With each narrator we were able to see the characters in our minds clearly. We highly recommend this audiobook!!

Words can’t express how well this was written, details superbly done. And the characters, from fairies, pixies to horrible hellhounds. Just amazing!
Cameo never ceases to amaze me on her ability to come up with such story lines. Once I start reading I never want it to end. I really hope there will be a sequel to Misteria.
