I was so excited to read this as I am such a fan of the books and I was not disappointed.
It was something new and fresh, exploring curses and demonic possession in different ways. It kept me intrigued and really rooting for everyone in the group .
It was really fun reading more about Austin's role within the group, the new dynamic and how he just takes it in his stride :)
The alternate ending was really interesting but I'm now really confused....
It was full of suspense and you are literally on the edge of your seat , I hated that real life got in the way and I had to work , eat and sleep as I didn't want go put it down !!!

Amazing read #spritchaserfan4life

Really hope this is going to be a series and not a trilogy :)

This is literally the only paranormal romance series I have ever liked. I even created a shelf on Goodreads just for it. That being said I was a little scared to open it. In my experience the third book in a series can go either way. I was so happy that it more than exceeded my expectations.

I've been a fan of the Spirit Chaser series and it was great to be back with the crew in Cursed. I was amazingly excited to see Prudence back as well. She's a fun little ghost with a lot of character. It's also very rare that in such a large and diverse group of people there isn't a character that I dislike. That's not to say they're all perfect little cardboard people. It's just that I could easily see myself hanging out with them. In fact, I'd love to. There is a part early on that I thought was really sweet. I don't want to spoil it for you but it made me angry at first but then made me go "Awww, that's so sweet!" And I don't do that usually. At least, not out loud, eliciting some very strange looks from the waiting room people.

The pacing is near perfect and for a romance, Cursed doesn't pin all of its selling ability on the Lust & Thrust methodology that a lot of other romances do. Casey and Austin seem like genuine lovers. Not just in the bed but out of it. The dialogue is snappy and witty but not over the top constant banter. It's also impressive that when there are multiple people speaking in one chapter it's never hard to tell who is speaking at what time. That can be no easy feat, particularly when most of them are narrated in first person. But the voices are distinct enough so there is rarely any confusion.

There were a few different plot lines as described above in the synopsis. This leads to a bit of jumping around or sudden springing of lines at times.. Which is what keeps me from giving it the full five stars that I'd like. For instance, the ring plot. It starts out well and gets going well, especially in the final three-quarters. Even though it is a major deal it seems to be forgotten about for a while until suddenly Casey's under its spell. It just seemed very abrupt. Thai and Anna's plot progressed very smoothly. The only part I think Cursed could have done completely without was Cal's point of view. I don't think it added much to the story because it really didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. I did love his endgame goal. They were minor quibbles and didn't diminish my reading experience too much.

I love the different 'curses' that are going on and the different trials involved. They fit well as did the character's responses to them. You could feel Austin and Thai's frustration as they felt so helpless watching their loved ones be tormented. It would be nice to see The Spirit Chasers continue and maybe have a few things go right for them for once. At least a little bit. It hurts me to watch some of my favorite people suffer so much.

And the ending? Holy crap, Casey is a serious badass and I love it even more that Mayor does not feel the need to constantly ram that fact down our throats. It comes through naturally. I loved it. Too many series of late leave way too many plots unresolved to hook you into the next book. Not so with the Spirit Chaser series. She wraps up the main lines and still leaves you with one helluva cliffhanger ending. I'm eagerly awaiting her next book.

I can't wait to see what happens next.

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely LOVED this book. Cursed is the best in the series yet. It literally had me on the edge of my seat and my stomach in knots.
The cover is stunning with an eerie vibe all at once. I don’t want to give anything away. I will say that the ring on the cover is gorgeous, but it definitely has a sinister vibe. All will be revealed by the end of the novel.
Cursed is told from 1st person with multiple POV’s. I think that style works well for this book. You get to know the characters on a more personal level.
The plot for Cursed is awesomeness. There’s plenty of action and mystery—never a dull moment. I enjoyed the different investigations that the Spirit Chasers did. The first was the Fun Frontier, which was an amusement park. Several people lost their lives there a few years back when the roller coaster flew off the rails. The park was haunted with dead ghosts as well as evil entities. The team went to scope out the scene, and let’s just say that the investigation went way south.
Casey almost lost her life when the same roller coaster from the past went rouge. I was on tenter-hooks reading that part, praying that she didn’t get hurt. The ride hadn’t been maintained in years, not to mention that the last time it was used it flew off the tracks.
One thriller scene led into another. Other team members had a fiasco at the mirror house where evil lurked within the reflection of the mirrors just waiting to suck them in like quicksand.
This book had so many interesting concepts from the Funtronics at the amusement park to the portal house on Cold Mountain. That shack had a special brand of darkness. You didn’t even have to die there to get stuck in that house. The house could just portal your soul from any part of the world to be held there as it’s hostage. Creepy to say the least.
It’s clear that the author did her research for the book and it shows. The haunted amusement park and wicked portal house was just the tip of the iceberg—leading to the underlying plot—Cursed. There’s two main curse concepts in this novel. I loved how they were different, but both worked with the story to give a variation of aspects of how one could be cursed.
I won’t spoil the climax of the curses, but lets just say one deals with hopping vampires, and the other, a sick religious cult. That brings me to the villain, Cal. That lunatic is Kilgrave’s twin. Mind manipulation is his specialty. His main goal was to have the ultimate worldwide power of control. Kat Mayor writes villains well. It was difficult being in his head. The bastard was sick. Hell, I don’t think that he cared about anyone, but himself.
The second part to the thriller ending of this novel had my heart pounding. It gave me flashbacks of the famous movie, Ghost and the ice lake in, Mountain Between Us. The ending reminded me of the movie, If I Stay. But I’m not really sure if Casey has a choice in the matter.
The author has outdone herself with this story and I normally don’t read this genre. I could go on and on about how great the plot was, but go and grab a copy for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend this book for people who love the paranormal, supernatural, and bat-shit crazy villains with a twist of romance.
I can’t wait to see what happens next. Hurry up with Demented Souls, Kat.

Good story.

There are two main plot lines in this book. The first one is Cal who is added to the team. The second one involves a curse. I like the main characters. I like how they have both good traits and flaws. All the main plots are completed. Cal's part in the story has a satisfying ending. The ending is a cliffhanger. I hope there is another book , and this is not a trilogy.
