Ten years. That’s how long Ashton Andrews spent wondering if she would ever have the family she craved, with a man who was apparently not the one.
Six weeks. Time spent patiently waiting, silently hoping and endlessly wondering if the decision she’d made to go it alone was the right one.
Nine months. Morning sickness, cravings and that constant need to pee are what Ashton has to look forward to, knowing that numbered are her days of being just one.
Fifteen years, eight days. An eternity ago were those unforgettable moments spent crushing on her brother’s best friend, yet her mind constantly turns to him—the one who got away.
The one who might yet be her one.
It’s probably about time she found out . . .
About Time is a contemporary romance featuring 30-something characters who know that life is short and know what they want.
B. Cranford is a proud Australian living in the USA, a lover of books, breadsticks and bed, and the mother of two children who are far too similar to their father for her liking. A lifelong reader, she dove into the romance genre on the recommendation of her best friend and hasn’t looked back since. Her debut novel, The Brightest Star, a second chance romance with (she hopes) heart and humor was released on July 13, 2017, which just so happened to be her birthday. Because if you release a book on your birthday, you get twice as much cake, and that can only be a good thing.
About Time is book one in The Avenue series by B. Cranford. Wow! I have to say that I didn’t expect to fall so in love with these characters. I didn’t want to stop reading this. I loved both the hero and the heroine but I have to say that Dunk, the hero, stole my heart right from the beginning. I would say this is a second chance romance.
Ashton Andrews and her two brothers, one older and one younger, were close, their bond tight. So when their parents disowned her older brother, there was no hesitation that she would stand by his side and support him. Which is how she first met her brother’s roommate and best friend, for the first time.
There was no denying the chemistry. They both felt it. But the timing wasn’t right. Now it’s fifteen years later. Ashton recently got out of a ten year long relationship with her cheater ex. She’s thirty four years old and life is passing her by. So it’s time to make her own future, fulfill her own dreams. Only as soon as she starts to realize that dream, the man she never forgot, the man she always wondered if he could have been the one, is back in her life. She’s not going to take a chance this time. She’s not going to let him go again.
Andrew Duncan never forgot Ashton. They had eight days together. But he felt more for her in those eight days than he ever had for anyone else. His life in New York is empty. He doesn’t enjoy his job, or anything about his life. He heard that Ashton was single again. Maybe it is finally their time. Maybe he could make a life in Madison where she and her brothers live. Maybe he could make a life with her.
“Life could be a strange thing. When timing was off, it could fight you on what you wanted, what you needed. But when the timing was right, life could be perfect.”
Andrew and Ashton find that connection that they both always yearned for with each other. But life still has a way of throwing in a few curve balls to keep you on your toes. Both of them have to adjust to life with the other, and with the decisions they have made.
“This kiss that felt like it was erasing all the others that came before it and tainting all the ones that would come after it.”
One thing I’ve quickly learned in the two books I’ve read by B. Cranford is that she writes the best sexy times. She has such a way of making them unique and so, so hot! There was nothing I didn’t love about these two. They were flawed and real and also perfect for each other. At the same time, I was also falling in love with Ashton’s brothers. The next book in this series is her younger brother Austin’s story in Because Forever. I am most definitely going to read this one. I have found myself a new author to fangirl over. I can’t wait to explore even more of her work.
Timing. Life is all about it. Good, bad and just random – it can make a day, break a week, or set your life on a new course. When Ashton decides to set a schedule of her own, little did she know she was tempting fate to bring Duncan back into her life. Cue the alarm for worst timing ever but oh did I love the fallout…
“And as the timer for number seven went off, she knew that she would forever associate that sound with the feeling of pure happiness.”
The spin this author took with this storyline was pure perfection. Snarky, sharp humour, wry wit and the feels that go on for miles. And how could it not be full of emotion? I mean, an unrequited love, a second chance and a baby in the mix? Ashton’s pure joy at becoming a mom, her uncertainty yet strength when forging ahead, trying to build something with Duncan. And Duncan? Oh, there aren’t enough words to talk about how fit so easily in the role of attentive beau. They laughed, they cried, they fought – real life that translated to sexy, steamy romance goodness!
And I can’t not mention the secondary characters that support them both all the way through. Old friends and new ones means (I hope) there will be more to come from these characters that feel like good friends… ~Diane, 5 stars
When an unrequited love and your deepest wish enter your life at the same time, what’s a girl to do? Ash Andrews is done waiting. She knows what she wants, and she gets it. She has her life together and is fine on her own. Until Dunk walks back into her life. The one man she has never been able to forget. Finding their path together is filled with humor, love, some tense moments, and a bunch of learning curves. Touching, sweet, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Sometimes, when the real world has you down, you find yourself lagging. In work, in love, hell, in life all around. Emotions are on overdrive, and everything just seems harder to take. That's when stopping the world, if only for a little while, is one of the most important steps in restarting it in the direction you wanted to go. This book was that.
Oh, it had it's drama, and passion. It had the clever snark that I've grown so accustomed to with this author. I would have expected nothing less. There just seemed to be a little something extra though. Something that made this story pack an extra punch to my aching soul.
It could have been the fact that it encompassed several of my favorite tropes without ever feeling overcrowded.
Standalone that's part of a bigger series, with cameos from old favorites? Check. If you haven't read the others in this series you will barely notice, but they're there, and delightfully satisfying.
Sexy man with fatherly instincts and a love for a child not his? Check again. Oh but I fell in love with Duncan, and I fell hard.
Strong heroine, who knows when to push away and when to say she's sorry? Boom. Done.
Pregnancy and it's trials.
Second chances well earned.
Adults actually adulting? Talking through problems, working together to work things out? Delivered, right on time. Oh, I know that the conflict helps to bring about a resolution. But love is hard enough. I hate when it's made even harder by adults acting like teens.
B. Cranford understands that fine balance between engaging conflict and over played drama and angst. It can be a fine line, but she walks it with a balance that leaves me gasping and never wanting the show to end.
Heart. This book had it in every page. From the way Ashton held her hand over her growing belly to the thoughts going through her mind when morning sickness reared it's ugly head. Through the tears -and oh how I sympathize with hormonal crying - the cravings, and the intense passion between Ashton and Duncan. Just so much heart.
Reading this left me with all the feels, in all the best ways. A soothing mental balm, a well earned escape from reality, and an absolute tease about what might be coming next, who's story I'll get to be a part of.
In true Cranford fashion, this book was everything I needed, whether I knew it or not.
Well I’ve went and done it again..picked up something with more angst than alpha. Someone ban me from kindle unlimited please because it’s giving me more trash than treasure right now. You know when authors decide to call their main characters very similar names? That happened. Especially when Ashton is both a male and female name. Things start to get confusing and the plot gets a little lost because I’m back reading. So yeah, don’t do this aspiring authors.
So we’ve got Ashton (yep that’s definitely the woman) who decides after a dramatic breakup she wants artificial insemination to get pregnant. She is successful in her attempts and the majority of the book is just her navigating her newly pregnant life with the help of her brothers (Austin and Aaron...) and reminiscing about failed past relationships.
I can’t say I particularly engaged with it, despite likeable characters. I did enjoy Ashton and Andrews rekindling and the banter between them. But it was a very slow burner, one which I ended up skim reading from the halfway point. I’m glad I did skip most of it as nothing much had changed, only exactly what I expected.
This is a 2.5 🌟 read for me. Though I’m going to give it a two rather than a three..I think I’m just not a fan of contemporary. After accidentally reading a few recently and disliking them I think I’m gonna have to have a tbr clearout. But that’s not the reason I’ve given that rating because that wouldn’t be right. It was the slow pace and reading of normal day to day life that pushed the rating down for me.
I'm grinning so big right now. I'm so lucky that I managed to beg for an early copy and I can't tell you how good this was. You're going to fall for everyone in this story. The relationship between the siblings. Dunk. Ash. All the heart eyes for these guys.
I had the fantastic privilege of beta reading this book and - y'all are in for a TREAT with the Andrews family. I seriously just want to carry them all around in my pocket for laughs and warm fuzzy feels...forever, really. And honestly, that family dynamic would probably have been enough to make my heart happy. But then, on top of that, there's this whole unorthodox yet sexy, sweet, and wonderfully swoony romance that just makes this whole thing a wonderfully layered and emotionally satisfying read. I swear to you B. Cranford just keeps getting better and better and this is one you do not want to miss!
Good god, y'all know I'm a sucker for second-chance. Add in one of my favorite #1click authors, and I'm there.
What can I say about Ashton's story? She everything I want and imagine in strong female lead. She knows what she wants and doesn't allow social norms to dictate her journey. But then a delicious 'blast from the past' walks into her bar... and that friends -- all bets are off.
B. Cranford once again gives us relatable characters that you cheer from your seats for a HEA. You understand Ashton's struggles, but not mired in unnecessary drama. Plus enter in main character, Mr X. Oh yeah, baby he is everything in an overprotective, alpha male you want. Or need. Or both - want and need. Okay, in short, you want to read this third full length novel from B. Cranford. She's reached her stride in storytelling, and I can't wait for more.
So - full disclosure - once you've read, and you SHOULD because this story is EVERYTHING in second-chance romance. I have a small, yet growing contingency of readers who want - no wait -demand we get an A&S story. Who is A&S ? HA! Like I'd be a spoiler and tell you! So pick up this book, devour it, and join the club. 5 out of 5 meet you at the Avenue stars.
I've been putting off writing this for a while now because I can not seem to think of the right words to accurately describe my love for this story and this author. But I at least wanted to add my review to the slew of positive reviews rolling in for this book and this family.
I adore Ashton and her combo of anxiety and braveness. I love that Dunk can be vulnerable, and also incredibly supportive, even if he errs on the side of overprotectiveness. I admire the dynamic between the Andrews siblings and the way they lean on one another in times of trouble, and lift each other up in times of joy.
Once again Ms. Cranford tackles difficult subjects- homosexuality, IVF, single parenting, loss of a sibling, familial estrangement, and more but does so with respect, and compassion. Her characters are real. They have flaws and they make mistakes. But they love deeply.
About Time: The Avenue Series Book One by B. Cranford is absolutely amazing! I love the Andrews family and Dunk makes it all come together!
Ashton Andrews is a strong women who has faced adversity head on and is surrounded by two brothers that she knows always has her back. So when she makes a major life decision, she knows she’ll be met with acceptance and love. Something these siblings haven’t always had.
Duncan aka Dunk, is ready for a second chance. The only question is Ashton ready to try after all she’s been through.
I loved the comradery between this whole crew. And a second chance romance always steals my heart. Especially when B. Cranford delivers it with wit, humor, sass, and love!
“Life could be a strange thing. When timing was off, it could fight you on what you wanted, what you needed, where you were going and who you were going there with.”
Oh my goodness! Cranford as done it again. Not only has she drawn me in with a fantastic book, she has left me longing for more. Her talent for creating real, flawed characters that draw you in and refuse to let go comes through in spades in this opening book to her new Avenue series. With cameos from characters from her Bright and Crazy series as well as a fantastic new group of family and friends, this is bound to be a success for new and old fans alike.
These characters. I don’t even know how to properly describe how much I love these characters. This book focuses on Ashton and Dunc, but we are introduced to a whole group of fantastic family and friends. I fell hard for each and every one of them! Ashton’s brothers, Aaron and Austin are perfection. They are loving and protective. They are funny and dramatic. They are REAL. And Simon. The voice of reason, the responsible, lovable, loyal friend to all. We also meet the mysterious Odie who has me guessing on what’s to come. Cranford gave me just enough to like her while making me so curious about her feelings and motivations! And then we have Ashton and Dunc. Talk about all the feels. Each and every one of them is so real and complex. They all had me laughing, swooning, and tearing up over and over again.
Ashton and Dunc are such fantastic characters. Timing never seems to be on their side. Their chance meeting years ago was interrupted, and their current situation doesn’t seem to be much better, but maybe it’s about time they make it work. Both Ash and Dunc are at a turning point in their lives. Ashton is finally taking the reins and going for what she wants, but the last thing she expects is for Dunc to return to her life. Dunc is finally putting his life back together after years of dedicating his life to caring for someone else. The last thing he expects is to take on the new responsibilities a relationship with Ashton would bring. However, with undeniable attraction, the only question is really whether or not they will make room for one another.
There are a couple reasons this book shouldn’t work for me (but it totally does). There is a definite insta-love between Ashton and Dunc both times they meet, but their relationship does build from this instant attraction, and while it progresses quickly (or REALLY slowly if we are going from their first meeting to the end), it didn’t bother me at all. Perhaps it was due to the fact that they were at turning points in their lives both times they met, the fact that they spent so much time apart, or maybe it was the fact that they were connected through their mutual love for Aaron, but for whatever reason, it worked. I also generally hate the nickname Kitten, but Cranford made it work by incorporating it into the story in a meaningful way.
Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. I fell for these characters, and I can’t wait to see what Cranford has in store for us next. Austin and Odie can’t come soon enough!
There is so very much to love about B. Cranford’s newest release, About Time. It is a second chance love story (one of my fave tropes) years in the making. But it is also about the strongest of bonds between siblings, who would sacrifice anything for each other. This is book unlike anything I have read and it struck my heart in all the best ways possible.
Ashton was introduced in B. Cranford’s Bright and Crazy series as the owner of Brighton and Jade’s favorite GNO spot. About Time gives us the full measure of this amazing woman who is so very fierce in how she lives and loves. Ashton is truly a life force who easily holds her own with her two dear brothers and anyone who walks into her bar.
Andrew Duncan is the Elsa to Ashton’s Rick (see: Casablanca) in this equation and his appearance will set your heart aflutter. This man is goodness personified and at nearly every turn, he proves that our faith in him is justified.
Together these two are magic. I loved their chemistry, which makes for some fabulous banter. But also, just how wonderfully they match – quite like puzzle pieces. While their timing may have been a little bit off (okay, a lot), once they connected nothing mattered but being together.
But even more, it is the relationship between the Andrews siblings that was everything to me. That fierce love of Ashton’s? It feels strongest for her brothers and vice versa. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for them, which is the very heart of this story.
About Time is also a great building block for this new series, I really want to see what’s next for these characters. In a short amount of time, they have found a place in my heart. Let them find their way into yours!! Happy reading.
I love a new to me author and a good start to a story that pulls me in and holds my interest and I’ve found it with B. Cranford’s About Time. The first book in The Avenue Series, it focuses on “Dunk” Duncan and Ashton Andrews. As a reader and reviewer I usually like to give out full names of the characters (a quirk of mine) but in this case I won’t give Dunk’s name because that’s part of the fun in the beginning of their story. I love the past and present telling of their journey, getting to know them and where they have been. Both mature adults, not without insecurities that any adult would have, they know what they want and go for it. Their banter is both sweet and sexy. There's no time wasted on silly drama but there is a little angst thrown in which fits perfectly. The secondary characters are charming and I can't wait for their stories. About Time is a sweet, second chance, solid love story to sink into and thoroughly enjoy.
"Ashton had thrown him a lifeline. He was going to grip it with both hands and see if it kept him afloat."
I loved the hell out of this book. Beth Cranford has a flawless prose and razor-sharp wit that keeps you glued to every word. Ashton and Duncan had a palpable connection from the beginning, but it was never the right time. I adored Ashton for her fierce independence and love for her brothers (who BOTH need stories of their own) and Duncan was delicious from the first moment we meet him, but the man he became was even more irresistible.
Amazing book that I'm sad is over. 5 kitten stars!
I was drawn right into the story from this very first line...
“Ashton Andrews stared at the two pink lines, laid out in front of her six times over. Pregnant.”
Ashton is a strong heroine who has pulled herself out of a bad situation to get her life going in a better direction. She knows what she wants and is taking action to steer her life where she wants it to go. ...But in walks her brother’s friend “Dunk”. Duncan is ready to move on with his life after spending the last years focusing only on working hard and caring for his sister. He has his sights set on Ash but has returned to find she might be more than he had bargained for.
“...the night desk staff will think I’m an idiot.” “You’re not an idiot.” “I am. I’m an idiot in love with a girl who speaks in run-on sentences and who sings songs to her belly when she thinks no one is watching.”
About Time is a second chance romance with some amazing banter (especially the texting!) It has a quirky, feisty heroine, a swoony, alpha hero, lovely storytelling and writing that kept me turning pages and wanting more.
“Life could be a strange thing. When timing was off, it could fight you on what you wanted, what you needed, where you were going and who you were going there with.”
This was my first book by this author. I completely enjoyed it and will definitely be reading more. -4.5 Stars!-
Ashton has two brothers, Aaron & Austin. And after some family drama, she decides she’s going with Aaron to college to getaway from it for a bit. It’s at this time she meets Duncan, her brother’s roommate.
The chemistry between them at 19 & 21 years of age is intense, but nothing more than flirtation happens and one steamy kiss before she has to return home.
Many years pass before they are reunited, both having wondered more than once over the years...what if.
Now that they’ve come together again, and realized the feelings are still there, what will they do about it?
What I liked most about this story, was the fact that there wasn’t any sordid drama between the two that broke them up all those years ago. It just simply never went far because of timing and what not. And Ash’s brothers, they’re just fantastic secondary characters!
About Time is my first read of B. Cranford’s. I thoroughly enjoyed this storyline. My only complaint is that it’s written in third person :| Yes. I know.
Sometimes we fantasize about what we want our lives to be, we make plans and we put them into motion, but when one day those fantasies and plans may come crashing down and when that happens what's a girl to do? In the case of Ashton Andrews, she re-evaluated those plans and went for what she wanted the most...a baby. But life has a funny way to throw curve balls into our paths and after fifteen years of not seeing her brother's best friend and college crush he comes back into her life perhaps looking for a little bit more than friendship.
If I could use a word to describe this book I'd say this book has heart. It's a beautiful well written story of finding love again when we least expected it, of making our dreams come true because it's what we wanted more than anything, of learning to live with the pain of losing someone we love, of accepting people for who they are.
The storyline has no unnecessary drama, it's a story real as real can be. And if I love Ashton's strong will and independence and Dunk's swoony disposition, my love for the secondary characters is out of this world. I just loved every single one of them, their sense of humor, their display of what real friendship is, and show us what unconditional love is really like, making this a book that will stay with you for years to come.
I can't wait to see what's in storage for Odie and Austin and hopefully we'll see little snippets of Ashton and Andrew somewhere in there. Easily one of the best books I've read this year.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Having characters that enter a relationship knowing exactly what they want is so refreshing. Ashton has moved on from a wasted relationship and has set herself up for the future with what she most wants. She knows she can do things on her own but that her 2 brothers will always be around for any support she needs.
Dunc is the man from the past, they only shared a few days of flirting and one scorching kiss, but neither of them have forgotten and they are willing to take a chance on each other.
This book had me laughing out loud, Ashton's relationship with her brothers felt really honest and relatable. Aaron's little comments and innuendo always made me snort, and I cant wait to see what may develop with Austin and Odie in the future.
A fast paced read, with lots of light and romance.
A beautiful and sweet love story, life doesn’t always go as planned and timing is just about everything!
Ashton is an independent strong woman who is set out to fulfil her plans alone, that meaning she will have a baby on her own! Adament she doesn’t need a man in her life but want a man in her life is very different when all she can think about is Duncan, her brothers best friend who she spent only 8 days with 15 years ago with an undeniable chemistry and flying sparks between them! Now he’s back and it seems neither of them have forgotten about each other or stopped thinking about each other and it seems that chemistry hasn’t faded either! But once again is timing all wrong? She’s already set out alone on this path she’s taking.
3.5 stars just because I’m not keen on third person stories having said that I would like to think Aussie is going to get his story as I have a feeling that could be a good friends to lovers romance!?
4.5 stArs I’ve never been more impressed with one book being able to hold so many tropes and not being overdone. I had to appreciate this, because I never once thought it was overdone-which is definitely something because this book really does have it all! My absolute favorite part of this book was the main characters interaction. Ashton and Dunk have this very real insta-love story happening, but at the same time it’s not over done, and is completely authentic to how I would see something happening in today’s world. With so many circumstances fighting against them being together, It’s evident that they are fighting against time. Their wild ride was so entertaining, and I have to say extremely swoon worthy, sweet, and a side of steamy. You do see many cameos from other characters that this author has written about, and it’s totally refreshing. I do reccomend reading her other books first, because those too are amazing! - By Victoria
"I have read a few books by B Cranford, and I have to wonder why I go so long between reading her stories as each book I have read is simply brilliant. I don't know if I would call this book a second chance at love novel, as Andrew and Ashton almost had a thing fifteen years ago until Ashton had to return back home. Then life happened. Ashton found herself in a long term relationship with a tool, and Andrew was put into the role of looking after his sister. It also didn't help that they didn't live in the same city. But lets just say when they finally reconnect - fireworks!!! These two just make sense, and I think it was probably for the best that they didn't have a relationship all those years ago, as what they have now with their added maturity is a beautiful thing to read. Maybe Austin will be the next book??? Hoping so... I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book "
This is my first B. Cranford story and found it to be an original. Right off the bat, you start out with the heroine doing what she wants to start a family. But since this is a second chance story the lost love must enter. I am not a big fan of second chance stories, but this one is wonderful.
I will be reading more of B. Cranford and am excited to add her to my TBR list. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for my honest review.
About Time is a second chance romance that hits all the feels. I was immediately sucked into this story. Ashton and Dunk have an undeniable connection, and they are surrounded by a great group of family and friends. One of my favorite things about B. Cranford novels is that she always writes relatable and real characters. She hits real issues and About Time is no exception to that.
This is a wonderfully written novel, the character are people who get under your skin and you just want to know more about. The storyline is unique and well paced. Ashton is a strong and determined heroine, she's just as easy to fall in love with as Dunk is. I loved seeing them develop, their witty banter, and found myself rooting for them easily. Their story is intriguing and one I did not want to end. About Time is the start of a new series, and I'm excited to see what comes next.
Well the title is everything- ABOUT TIME and it really is about time I read a B. Cranford story and I am so glad it was this one! Ashton Andrews is smart, sexy and ready to be mom. She just hasn’t found the right man to help her with getting her to motherhood, so she takes this task on her own. That is what I love about Ash; she is so strong and very independent, yet she sees Duncan and becomes a pile of mush. I love the chemistry and the way they handle Ash’s life. Most men could walk away and Duncan stays. This couple will keep you laughing and swooning.
This book!!!!! About time......is just that, About Time!
Ashton.....such a strong, determined, independent woman who knows exactly what she wants and has set herself on the path to achieve that goal. Andrew was her crush......and her brother's friend.......I always wanted an older brother.....well.....because of his friends! I "lived" through Ashton!
I loved this story, I loved how Ashton was there for brother, Aaron, she stood by him when their family didn't.
I can't wait to continue this series and to read more from the author.
When life deals you a hand that you didn’t expect, you make it work. And that’s exactly what Ashton is doing. Since life didn’t take her down the path she expected, Ashton is making it her goal to do what she needs to...and that is to have a baby. On her own.
Andrew is at a place he least expected. For years, he’s been on his own taking care of every single one of his sister’s needs as she was deathly ill. Now Andrew is at a turning point in his life...and he’s about to go get the girl who has always had his heart.
Ashton and Andrew are absolutely perfect for each other, and always have been. I love that the story goes from now to back when they first met as Andrew is her brother’s best friend. You can just feel the sexual tension between the two and know that this is a relationship that could last forever. However, life happens and timing just isn’t on their side.
I truly loved every moment of this book. Ashton, Andrew, along with Aaron and Austin, are all absolutely perfect. I love how the author made it all such a fun and loving family dynamic! This book had me laughing, crying and swooning throughout the entire story!
I don’t even know how to begin to tell you that I enjoyed this book. B. Cranford has hit it out of the park with About Time! I was completely drawn into this book from the first chapter and loved the journey this book took me on. I cannot wait for more of the series!
“Touching, sweet and thoroughly enjoyable.”—New York Times Best Selling Author, Melanie Moreland • “B. Cranford has flawless prose and razor-sharp wit that keeps you glued to every word. I loved the hell out of this book.”—Stephanie Rose, Author of Rewrite and the Second Chances Series • “A charming second chance romance with witty banter and the perfect amount of steam. I adored Ashton and Duncan’s relationship. I couldn’t stop rooting for them. B. Cranford nailed it.”—New York Times Best Selling Author, J. Daniels
I liked the characters and the storyline. The two main characters met when young and felt sparks but neither spent the years pining for the other. YES! Finally! Ash was fairly strong for the most part and knew what she wanted. Andrew was compassionate and caring which was a nice change. Editing was decent with only a few mistakes. The 3 siblings all had names beginning with A and so did the boyfriend but if you pay attention as each character comes into the story it’s not that difficult to keep them straight. So many “good guy” characters was a refreshing change too.
My main issues was the back and forth between past and present. I would have liked more of the back story told in a couple of spots and then stayed in the present for most of the book.
Since this says book 1, hopefully the next book will also continue to follow the story between these two as well as the next set’s story. I did not feel that this one was as finished as I would have liked. I will definitely read the next book.
Spectacular! This is the first book I've had the pleasure of reading by B. Cranford and I adore it. The book is hilarious and kept me laughing. I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic between characters and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Ashton and Duncan met when they were in college and Duncan was her brother, Aaron’s roommate. While they never got into a relationship you saw the bond as did Aaron, but they never acted on this. While Aaron and Duncan remained friends over the years the time was never right for Ashton and Duncan to try a chance at a go. Ashton spent ten years of her wasted life with a loser but thank god for that. There’s a reason her family was delayed. She decides to go outside of the box you can say and take this head on, but while this occurs Duncan resurfaces. Is the timing wrong once again or could the timing be right? Duncan loved that for fifteen years she didn’t know his first name only what he was called Dunk or his last name of Duncan and that her brother never gave it up either. Too funny cause it was ironically as close as it can get. I’ll let it at that so as to not spill a spoiler. Duncan you will fall in love with after your heart breaks for his story that’s been told to us. He hasn’t felt at home for a long time and Britney Spears bring it out of him once again you can say. You will only understand if your read the book. Just as Simon is the glue to the siblings, Duncan is the wood that nails this clan together and all I can say is it’s About Time! This book covered a few topics that could be conflicting to many and resolved this the way it should occur in our world. It touches on parent’s non-acceptance of a child being gay and deciding to have a baby on our own as a single mother. This clan of siblings that you fall in love with are strong and brave. Your heart breaks for them and you want to hug them, but then your heart smiles for them as well with their many actions. Simon you’re the heart of this bunch and the perfect match for Aaron and this chosen family. Loved the banter from these siblings of Big, Little and Tiny. It was nice to read a reverse family as opposed to the normal family reads we typically see. Ashton’s rambling is hilarious and you want to pet her like a kitten at times, Duncan is a keeper and love his playfulness but serious side of him, Aaron/Simon we better get your story even though we know now where you are, but you also had 15 years of setbacks together and your love is strong if not stronger still and Aussie we need your story with Odie cause let’s face it again it’s a reverse situation from what we usually see in books. Love that these stories are like this! This family is like the A-Team and you will see why once you finish this sweet at times sad story that connects this to real life experiences. It can happen cause while matters that occurred didn’t happen to me I saw a connection or two that I was able to relate to in certain matters. The Avenue series start is drink worthy and I cannot wait to see who is next to get a story.
