By day Daniel is a middle manager in a boring job that he hates, but every night he logs into the Mirrorverse- an immersive computer simulation where anything is possible- and lives out his fantasies as breakdancing librarian Lemonade Julius. When a mysterious patron visits his virtual reference desk with an unusual question, however, both his real and digital lives are thrown into chaos. Can Daniel disentangle what is real from what is imaginary before it is too late? A 23,000 word novella in the style of Ready Player One, Reference is the fifth installment in "L is for Librarian," a science fiction anthology featuring libraries and librarians.
Tom Bruno was born in New Jersey (Exit 3 of the Jersey Turnpike, to be precise!). An early reader, he planned his childhood activities around the weekly arrival of the county bookmobile and frequented every book store within half a day's ride of his three-speed bike.
Tom's bibliomania inevitably brought him to the Athens of America, where after a misguided attempt to become an astronaut at MIT he decided to complete his Bachelor's degree in Ancient Greek and Latin at Boston University and then his Master's degree in Library Science at Simmons College.
When he's not writing, Tom is a librarian, helping other people get their much-needed book fix!
