An internet troll who wanted attention, the reader criticized his favorite web novel, saying: “The protagonist is dumb and the author is stupid.”
Author: “… Got it.”
Unfortunately for him, the author actually listened to his (troll) feedback. The formerly lighthearted tale of a cute harem master suddenly became super dark and edgy. The reader could only helplessly look on as the the protagonist was abused and betrayed, finally embarking on the road to becoming completely evil. Everything was a mess!
After that the reader transmigrated into a strange world. How come the person in front of him looks like the protagonist (evil undead version)? Just what is going on?!
Note: Du Zhe (读者 meaning Reader) and Du Ze (杜泽 the character’s name) sound almost the same
I liked the world building that all comes together at the end, the fact that the main character doesn't miraculously become OP and there were enjoyable side characters.
Overall, glad to have read this entire thing in English (rare to find a fully translated good novel).
A writer created a fictitious world. In that world the protagonist's life move smoothly that a reader, even though liking it, decided to comment on the non-existence conflict. And so, the writer decided why not give the protagonist a harsh life. A story that should have been all sugar and spice suddenly took a 180 degree turn. The reader, feeling guilty, somehow got suck into that world. And so, his task was to assist the protagonist on his journey to immortality.
When two worlds collided, it gave this weird vibe that something was off. I don't want to tag the protagonist as tsundere but, that's how I saw it. I mean if you like adventure fantasy with romance in it, this is your story. Just beware that there is bestiality because the protagonist can change into eight different form.
At first it was extremely boring for like almost half of the danmei. I was about to stop reading it because it was so boring but I forced myself to continue and I'm glad I did because the last half was actually really interesting. This danmei has incredible world building but is more slow paced compared to other novels.
To anyone struggling to get past the intro chapters, let me tell you: it's worth it! I did the same thing but I'm so glad I took the time to finally get into the story.
This story is really unique. I feel like there aren't many fantasy BLs that take the time to fully illustrate and build the world. The author skillfully includes this along with the main story, which in itself is quite good. I loved the MC and the ML, and their relationship (while, albeit, unhealthy) was aptly built up to.
I would say that this story is a bit long. To be perfectly honest, I didn't really hate that because it made sense with the progression and the ML getting each race's abilities, but I feel like a lot of these arcs could have been shortened. Otherwise, I really didn't have any problems with this story.
The ending made sense to me. I was so happy the two of them reunited. The reader and the protagonist definitely have to be in true love, and true love conquers all. Both the ML and MC were able to accept each other fully and trust the other with unwavering loyalty. Even when everyone around the ML doubted him and his cruelty, the MC was always on his side. And though I don't agree with some of the things the ML did, I do think that sticking together with him despite that really proved the MC truly loved him.
All in all, great story! I would rate it five stars, but it did drag a bit. I also did skim/skip parts that bored me. It's not perfect, but it's damn good.

1.5 stars- Guy trolls the comments section of his favorite webnovel for attention except the author takes his “suggestions” to heart and turns the book dark. Then the reader transmigrates into the book and teams up with the now evil protagonist. This is written in a chaotic, Wattpad type style and often felt like the author was making things up on the fly. It’s got progression fantasy elements that became super monotonous and the main characters lacked depth. Idk why I finished it to be honest, it had some funny moments but the longer it dragged on the less enjoyable it became.
My feelings on this one are somewhat complicated. I thought how the overall plot and character development was handled quite nicely. And also I’m glad that the blatant racism was proved to be purposeful to be like “see this isn’t how we should behave, people!”
I still feel like I have a lot of questions and honestly I wish there were more chapters/extras, but everything already was explained... it just didn’t really feel satisfying.
This book was both satisfying and unsatisfying at the same time. Unsatisfying with the occasional very satisfying moments.
I could also tell that the plot was well written and pieces together. No plot holes that I could see, which I can appreciate. I love when things in a world was created for a reason rather than just to be just because.
However, I still can’t say that this was perfect world building either because I feel like a lot more could’ve happened.
I think my overall feeling is that this novel reached its quota, but it could’ve been godlike and somehow didn’t reach it.
Sad that the fandom is so small. Maybe if I search hard enough I’ll find some fanfic and fan art. Hope the manhua is completed.
I have mixed feelings about this book... the story is kinda cute but there was one scene that I absolutely hated and had me feeling really bad for the protagonist. All I have to say is, I'm really glad his body resets everyday back to its original condition.
**Warning: Spoilers Ahead**
I particularly enjoyed that the author juxtaposed the current world with Du Ze's presence with the original novel chapters, so you can see exactly how different things are now that Xiu is ever so slightly obsessed with Du Ze XD Plus Du Ze's initial attempts to help Xiu gather members of his harem were hilarious, since he didn't realize Xiu's thoughts had already been bent in his direction. He just keeps on attributing each unsuccessful attempt to misunderstandings and doesn't realize that's not the case.
I liked the first half of the story more, when Xiu and Du Ze are just traveling around and awakening various parts of Xiu's eight bloodlines. The last bit, with the God Tower, went in a bit of a weird direction for me. It was cool that he met the God of Creation and made him realize that he's nothing more than the antagonist in a story with Xiu as the main character. It felt very meta.
The ending was unexpected but good. I can't believe Xiu actually "broke through" the story to find him and made the novel's actual author hand over control of the story to him. So OP XD
Here are some of my favorite quotes from the story:
Du Ze was in a trance as he heard the sound of his three views being broken. His soul almost left his body but he redoubled his efforts: “That is just a misapprehension. I have been staying with you all this time so it seems as though we have become close but that is only an illusion.” Du Ze started diligently listing the sisters: “Violet, Alice, Heidi, and Ariel, they are very good and you will also meet more people in the future.”
So how can you, the cute Lord, give up the whole garden for a bit of dog’s tail grass? There is no future for gay lovers!
Du Ze felt Xiu’s hand on the back of his neck leave. Moe Lord, you are listening to my words, right?
“They are not you.” Xiu stared at his fingertips; he could still feel some of Du Ze’s warmth. “No matter how many people I meet in the future, they are not you.”
Not the man he met when he was abandoned.
Not the man who kissed the undead.
Not the man who said he was a miracle.
Not the man who protected him in his arms in the elemental storm.
Not the man who thinks all the good things in the world belong to him.
Not the man who saved him.
Not his Du Ze.
“If you reject me, too,” Xiu whispered, “the world is nothing to me.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“There was a black powder reader who liked a novel. In order to get the author’s attention, he posted a comment saying: I hope the protagonist dies.” Du Ze’s flat voice softly echoed inside the white space, as if he was narrating an ordinary story. “The villains inside the novel sensed the comment and, in order to kill the protagonist, the villain dragged the reader into the novel.”
The God of Creation’s eyes widened. He stared at the black-haired youth’s lips opening and closing. The sound seemed to come after a few centuries.
“I am a reader.”
Nothing stopped Du Ze from speaking since the only two people present more or less understood the truth of this world already.
“This world is a novel.”
—— The “world” is a novel. “It” is the author. “The rules” is the plot. The “protagonist” is Xiu. The “villain” is the God of Creation.
In his role as a reader, Du Ze stood opposite the Creator God and spoke the truth of the world in a matter-of-fact way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once there was a reader who got transported into the world of his favorite novel. He met the protagonist and finally they can be together forever because …
Du Ze leaned his head against Xiu’s chest and listened to the familiar heartbeat. The corners of his mouth turned up slightly. “The Reader and Protagonist Definitely Have to Be in True Love.”
Good points: - Worldbuilding - Original concept - Good length; although it began stretching near the middle - Creative character work with a few of the protagonist's (the protagonist of this novel, not the protagonist of the novel in this novel) features - Lots of chinese internet slang in the original language; learning experience :)
Less-good points: - Cliche troupes; you saved me while everyone else attacked me 'therefore' I love you now - Slightly confusing plotline - Dissatisfying ending; there is no explanation for which means that it feels less earned; would have been better if some pre-established mechanism was used to explain it - Power imbalance in the main cp; the 'reader' was gradually reduced to a tag-along love interest - Tries to expand setting of the novel into a 'this entire universe is so buff and powerful', but it resulted in a 'this means that all your previous actions have no significance' and takes away from the character growth and the significance of the novel's previous plotline
Unlikely to do a more thorough review; recommend for those who want to see how fantasy can be incorporated into a plotline, and also for those who are looking for how chinese fantasy is different to western fantasy and any relevant terminology - specifically fantastical races (e.g. elves, ghouls).
Otherwise, this book can help those looking to compile a dictionary of chinese internet slang, because it uses so many of them. For me, the dissatisfaction of the ending heavily impacts the enjoyability of the entire book, but it is good as a learning resource.
“How can you be sure … that you’re not in a novel?”
Gosh... this definitely one of my favorite line from this story. I love how the writer decided to close this story with this particular line. It's just so fitting.
Reading this definitely started due to my curiosity and how I kept seeing the title of this webnovel mentioned in some fanfictions I read. And the rest is history as one would say. For a webnovel, this one definitely isn't too long compared to the others which I also read and haven't finished yet. And although it's not too long, it wasn't too short either. I think the amount of chapters are quite fitting for this kind of story. This webnovel definitely gives me the RPG vibes from it. That is if you mix RPG with isekai theme. And like most isekai theme, you could practically expect the usual tropes in this story. Like how the reader is trying to change the ending of the story and all. It's a bit predictable but that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable in itself. Or perhaps, I just need to read something light after all the angst. We could definitely see the character growth of the protagonist and reader in their own way albeit how subtle it is. Overall, I quite enjoyed reading this one.
I feel like this is a novel that fits perfectly into the range of either you likeit or you don't.
Personally I liked it quite a bit, though maybe not enough to rate the novel 5 stars, mostly due to some dragging sections of the novel.
The opening sequence is wildly amusing, with our MC being a raging angry anti-fan online, but in reallife being completely in love with the book he's raging on. As such, he of course manages to get dragged into the book he's been with for so long and saves the protagonist who will now bw forever in love with him.
The novel overall is so cute and quirky with all 8 races having weirdly intersting backstories (for how generic they seem), as they affect the ML in so many different ways (and in turn our MC). While the being was rather fast paced and amusing I feel like there were some parts that I only managed to get through after being carried by the coatails of how much I loved the main characters.
Besides that, the ending was ultimately the most satisfying thing for me with how action packed, cute, and funny it was.

Man did I struggle to finish this book. It wasn’t bad per se but I kept wandering off to find something more interesting to read and the last, like, 10 chapters took me over a week to finally commit to reading and that was just so I could get it off my back log.
Content warning for the NSFW chapters as there’s sex pollen driven noncon, sexual assault, and tentacle porn. I’m probably missing other things too since the author used Xiu’s different forms to introduce a new particular kink for each one, all of them got at least one sex scene, and some of them got pretty sketch. They’re all on separate sites though and pretty easy to skip.
Not a strong read, but has a lot of new concepts to me, and is at least an interesting read. MC (Du Ze) had a predictable backstory (it was also extremely short), and yet the English fan translation actually came through remarkably well, and was one of the high points of the story for me. 0-point restore was a fun concept.
Pros: Du Ze backstory, 0-point restore, struggle of the gods, world-building, conflict of the races, overarching mystery of the Creator God, Old John (loyal bastard)
3.25 stars. i'm just going to copy over my notes from nu:
-it took a hot minute for the plot to actually get good (50-60 chapters in)
-characters got pretty okay development (du ze got smarter lmao)
-i genuinely appreciate all the dnd references
-started off at 2.5 stars, then around ch 60 went up to 3, then at ch 91 went to 3.5. by the end + the extras, i'm hovering somewhere between 3-3.5 stars (/5)
-ch 91 was also so hella good omg... it really made the whole book for me
Mixed emotions; do I want to give it two stars or four stars?
Let's lay the facts nice and simple: The plot is exactly my cup of tea. The sequence of events is -mwah, chef's kiss.
Bu-u-u-ut, the character growth falls short and that's the stories most fatal flaw.
Honestly these bl writers (romance writers in general to be more accurate) need to take courses on healthy non-toxic relationships, maybe get a minor in consent, and some good old elementary lessons about blatant racist depictions, but if you turn the other cheek (and pretend that Violet and Alice's story line never existed, or create a completely different background about them and convince yourself that that's cannon) then everything's fine.
I don't know what it is, but something is missing, and I don't know how to explain it. Like I'm so convinced that minor tweaks to the story are enough to raise it up to 5 stars. -Rewrite all the 18+ scenes to be consensual -Make Du Ze more talkative to create a semblance of chemistry between the two main characters and make us believe they have a reason to fall in love. -Give Xiu a redemption arc? Maybe change a bit of his defining characteristic traits? Show us a real change in the paranoid insecure child we met at the beginning of the story? Make us want to root for him and not feel that Du Ze is an idiot for always supporting him?
I don't know these are a few suggestions off the top of my head. This isn't saying I didn't enjoy the story, because I did. I just wish the editor or author or someone realized that some very obvious things like (alice and violet being sisters) or the elves "blackening" or the dragon cave scene should be plainly omitted.
i liked it enough to be entertained. i liked the plot and how the mc is deaf!! its really rare to see disabilities written about so it was a nice thing! sometimes though i did feel like the ml was a little flat? like very cliche but it was still enjoyable nonetheless, i read around 62/91 chapters, i probably would’ve finished it but cause i got so busy in between i didnt have any motivation to finish it. also there weren’t any HUGE misunderstandings between the the couple and it was super cute BUT. i like my miscommunication tbh 🤭 LIKE YES give me jealousy give me unrequited love give me longing. i reccomend reading it if u like the transmigration trope!
ALSO BRO?? TELL ME WHY IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS THESE TWO TWIN SISTERS WHO WERE FUCKIN??? like it was so weird and uncomfortable and it was justified as being similar to two men being in love.. like no? incest isnt the same as homosexuality. thankfully though they left pretty quickly and weren’t important. and not to mention and they were a part of the ml’s harem anf were “turned straight” just a really old and nasty rhetoric people still have.
Around chapter 50-60ish there was this one smut scene and it seemed really non-con to me.. like the ml wasnt in his right state of mind and he was fed some weird fruit but like its still not okay and it was just uncomfortable to read about. like yeah he apologized too but the guy was bleeding and crying. i didnt like it at all and just icked me out honestly. so TW

I love it! its probably an afteraffect of being an ORV fan though.
The overarching story and lore of how the world works is dang good. The ORV fanboy in me has been thoroughly sated. Xiu (the ML) is an amalgimation / mixed race guy made of all 8 races in the world. Du Ze (MC) is so cute. as the writer states he is definitely a stupid, cute person. He's also partly deaf without his hearing aid, which is very conveniently used by the writer in times of need in the plot.
Spoilers for the world building in the original book
the story actually has plot and it’s more of a bl than yaoi story which i prefer, the whole romance is pretty cute but VERY yandere in terms of the ML, so if you don’t like the ‘i’d kill everyone including myself just so you don’t get hurt’ then this book is def not for you. even though the MC is very much aware of the fact that the ML is like evil he clearly does not mind so it’s a pretty light read since he doesn’t dwell on the ML’s actions and if he does it’s like surface level stuff. I wouldn’t say the mc is a male mary sue but he is the type that just goes along and accepts whatever the ML does so if you don’t like it then you do you boo
i’d say the best part of this story is the fact that even though the mc is hearing impaired the ML doesn’t dwell on it and just accepts him and that’s really nice cuz i feel like most stories with impaired mc they usually always make it seem like it’s disgusting or a major flaw of the character when in actuality it’s not. as a hearing impaired person myself i like how they acknowledge that he is hard of hearing but don’t make a big deal out of it, it’s really refreshing to read
Novel Updates esta fumadisimo. Nonono.
No panas.
No grax. I have standards.
I love this trope so I really enjoyed this novel but not going to lie it kind of dragged in the second part when they
Summary: DuZe is a fan of the webnovel Mixed Blood but becomes an online troll in an effort to get the author's attention. He suddenly gets transported to the novel and meets the protagonist, Xiu. DuZe feels guilty because his trolling caused the author to abuse Xiu and turn him evil so DuZe tries to guide his favorite character into not destroying the world. Possessiveness, love and a journey to become a god ensues.
I read this novel for the fluff and humourous and smutty elements but in the end this novel gave me existential crisis.
WHAT IF IM JUST A MOB CHARACTER IN A NOVEL JUST TO FILL THE BACKGROUND FOR SOME PROTAGONIST? IS GOD JUST A AUTHOR? IS MY REALITY THE TRUTH OR IT'S ALL A STIMULATION. WHAT IF IM JUST A BRAIN FLOATING IN JUICE. oh no I'm just a brain in a meat suit swimming in electrolytes.
Anyways, I'll rate this ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really did enjoy this specially when the reader didn't have his novel spoiler advantage anymore, it also broke the 4th wall in the novel which was fun and things got super interesting afterward.
