There is much that is helpful in this book for those who struggle with weight. Combining some of the best cognitive behavioral therapy with mindfulness meditation, this book provides some excellent exercises to help shift mindset from 'yelling yourself down the scale' to 'loving yourself down the scale'. I do believe that our thinking and emotions impact our behaviours when it comes to losing weight, and so this is a great tool in that regard. Personally, I have such complicated medical issues that the book must sit alongside other medical specialist interventions and investigations, and I just can't be on board with the idea that I have all the power within me to lose weight as there really is a lot beyond my control. But I do still highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in weight loss.

Has some great ideas for self-help and liking yourself just the way you are. Book also offers downloadable hypnosis guides to help you along the way. But in the end, the diet part is simply you choosing the number of calories that you can reduce and live without per week. It also asks you how many calories you’ll be ready to burn.

I have a degree in psychology. The author did a great job of giving people positive affirmations about their self esteem and forgiving themselves for fighting an obesity battle with their on metabolism.

But, I was saddened to see that this was going to be a watch what you eat diet.

This is a fantastic book with ongoing support from the author via daily emails and hypnosis and meditation sessions. It's like having a daily coach to guide you every step of the way. The way Rita explains how the brain works when it comes to habits and weight struggles is very informative and easy to relate to.

From Fat to Thin Thinking: Unlock Your Mind for Permanent Weight Loss by Rita Black is one of the better books I've read about weight loss--primarily due to its focus on CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) as a necessary tool in not only losing weight but also in maintaining it. As Rita acknowledges in the book, most chronic dieters are extremely knowledgeable about how to lose weight, but struggle to "stay on the wagon" due to things such as trigger foods, emotional eating, and a flawed way of thinking that essentially amounts to self-sabotage. This book walks you through Black's weight loss program, which is designed to change your entire way of thinking about weight loss, through journaling exercises, hypnosis sessions, and developing your own support system. She also touches on some of the more physical aspects of weight loss with which every "weight struggler"is very familiar; such as nutrition, calorie deficits, food logging, exercise, etc. Overall I felt that it contained a lot of great advice and is something I could personally greatly benefit from if I go back through and put in the work.

Incredible!

I have tried EVERY diet plan known to man and have had short term success with most. Over my many years of diet struggle I have managed to lose 80 lbs. The last 30 lbs I've struggled with forever until finding Rita. If you put in the mental work this plan is effortless. The book title is so appropriate because it literally changes your thinking and entire approach to weight release!

Book: Rita Black 's Fat to Thin Thinking...


This book was extremely helpful for me. It allows me to leave behind the negative world of weight struggling and employ instead the techniques of weight mastery. It is a far more positive way to proceed!

This is a fabulous book !! If you have trouble losing weight...shift!

I love this book. If you lose something, you try to find it. That's why you need to SHIFT your weight so it will never come back. I would recommend this book to anyone who struggles with weight.
