Loved it. I rarely read murder mystery or thriller kind of novels as it needs much detailing from the side of writer. If writer doesn’t full fill those detailed study then book becomes less interesting but this one is indeed great one. Nice story. Loved the cover. Nice writing style and it holds your attention from begging to end. Just loved this one and must read
The Last Attractor of Chaos is a spy thriller by debut author Abhinav Singh.
The book begins when Ashwin Rathore is killed in a murder that was meant for his pregnant wife Shruti. The book continues as Shruti’s past is revealed and even in death, Ashwin tries to protect her.
The book starts with a very thrilling scene and the good thing is that it keeps the same level of excitement throughout.
The story is very gripping. The mystery regarding Shruti and what she was hiding was enough to keep the reader hooked. There is a supernatural element in the book and while I was skeptical about it at first, it was done very well.
The writing of the book is excellent. It is captivating and along with the exciting plot, it keeps the reader hooked.
Shruti was a really interesting character whom I was trying to figure out throughout the book. Her bravery and boldness even while she was six-months pregnant was amazing. I loved the way the author unfolded her past.
Ashwin dies and meets a being called Tantunam Anuhaanuha who is there to guide him in his afterlife. Together, they try to save Shruti’s life. We see Ashwin’s shock at finding things about his wife he wouldn’t have dreamed of.
This was an extremely fun book to read. It also includes different perspectives on death and afterlife.
I highly enjoyed reading this book. It was full of surprises and ended very interestingly. There was not a single dull moment. I loved the way the author included a supernatural element in a spy thriller novel.
Book’s name: The last attractor of chaos Author’s name: Abhinav Singh Publisher: Notion press My rating: 4/5
The last attractor of chaos by Abhinav Singh is a Spy – thriller novel. It has suspense, drama, thrill, supernatural element and danger. The main protagonist of the novel is a six – month old pregnant lady Shruti. I am really in awe of her character because even though she was pregnant she showed brilliant courage and strength. She is so bold and fearless that I adored her character.
Talking about the story, the protagonist Shruti loses her husband Arun in a car accident which was intentionally planned for getting her killed. Arjun even after dying meets Tantunam Anuhaanuha in the afterlife who is supposed to guide him through his new life. Arjun decides to save his wife from the person who tried to kill her and will try same in future. But one thing he doesn’t understand is why people after his wife’s life. What is about her past which has been kept in dark from him? The book unfolds one mystery after another and Shruti who is a very talented officer and has worked in past with RAW is blamed for betraying her nation and she is accused of stealing a weapon KALI which can be highly dangerous if falls in wrong hands. Shruti makes it her life’s mission to find out who is behind this theft.
This book is really interesting and I couldn’t put it down before reading it completely. The narration is good and intriguing and the writing style of the author is amazing. I really loved the book. I will recommend this book to all the thriller lovers.
If you get a chance to read a Spy novel written by an Indian writer you to read it. It is a like once in a blue moon material that gets out in the market.
The plot starts with a married couple. Ashwin Rathore is killed in a well-planned murder that gets wrong. The murderer was after his wife Shruti Rathore who is a retired R&AW agent. This is just a start of this thrilling storyline as the wife gets arrested by the Intelligence Bureau on the charge of stealing a strategic weapon and killing her associate. Unaware of her wife's past, and after his death Ashwin meets a strange consciousness appearing in the form of a guide in his afterlife. Both of them try to save Shruti's life as Ashwin himself tries to fight a dilemma of protecting his wife or choosing what is right to do.
The plot covers an interesting theme and there is a lot from a philosophical point of view on the death and afterlife. I was surprised by this as I expected it to be a traditional spy novel. However, the inclusion of this law of nature as the primary theme of the novel did make things interesting. With glimpses of mysterious nature of characters, this novel has a good pace, and the setting of the novel which includes an Intelligence Agency of India is something altogether new out there for the reader to pick this up.
The characterization is bold but more significant within the plot. They are like a molecule in the shell of the storyline and without it, they won't exist. The use of sob plot was not much of an intriguing point from me but I think it copes well in the end. The writing style is crisp and lucid. It does help to turn the page at a faster rate. There are many twists and turns that made not to put down this book. A glimpse of realism is there which is what Indian readers are after these days.
Overall, this book is recommended for the sole reason that there aren't many Spy novels written in India or by Indian writers. Another point that I can add is that this book is highly entertaining due to the way it reaches the climax of the story.
I like this one with lots of characters and action. With the suspense and fast-paced writing style, it's worth reading.
The plot somehow lacks explanations especially towards the end. It's a bit opposing as well as confusing to the plot that was presented in the whole book.
The characters start losing their personalities and the end seems a bit rushed up while it was a bit dragged in between the chapters. I am not happy with how this one ended. It seemed so unimportant and needed no attention whatsoever.
However, I am giving all the stars I can give for the fun time it gave me while reading it.
Either you would totally hate this book to the core or you will.find the writing style of the author endearing. There is just no in between! If you are a feminist to the core, please don't pick up this book.
This means I have some grave issues with this book even though I enjoyed the writing style. Well, as opposed to this book I would like to say that no matter how charming or perfect a guy is, not every woman would fall for the same guy like dying drugged mosquitoes falling straight to the floor.
Because this is the most unrealistic thing I found in this one. Because FYI, the each of the woman mentioned was either a tourist or just a normal woman. And it is just not possible to meet women in a row who were looking for flings or one night stands. Well, that was the unbearable part.
Other than that the writing is ok, easy to follow. The main character is a bit egoistic for no real reason to boast about. Yes, except for the fact that he travels and lot and knows lots of dishes unique to different places. I liked this part the best. Overall, it is a one time read for me.
"She is the attractor and you are her balance." -Abhinav Singh, The Last Attractor of Chaos
In our country, we have seen a lot of fantasy novels, a lot of mystery/thriller plots, a lot of supernatural plots and a lot of supernatural novels. Many of these novels focused mainly on the supernatural elements, many on mainly the technical elements and many on the protagonists and their lives. Rarely are there any books though that maintain a balance within everything and create a beautiful story/novel out of it.
The book opens with the death of Ashwin Rathore. That is where the supernatural element first enters and Ashwin meets Tantunam Anuha. A whole new discovery follows and the story moves forward with Ashwin trying to protect his wife and unborn child's life. But that is also where the darkness sets in. Slowly Ashwin realizes how there are certain things in his spouse's life and in her past that he was well unaware of.
The story follows that incident and well sums up Shruti's life before her marriage with Ashwin and after that. That is how Ashwin discovers things about her past, and about the people he trusted.
What I adored the most about the book was how the story of the protagonists was told. Breaks were assigned wherever needed. The tone was changed whenever required. Interruptions formed before or after every major point. All in all, the mystery was maintained in a rather smart way throughout the book. So much that I ended up reading this 300+ pages artwork within a single day.
Like I already said before, the story of the protagonists was discussed in full detail and the depth of the characters, thus, was also lucid and descriptive. The incidents in their past well described how they ended up the way they did and in what situation. These incidents also led to an explanation of their respective behaviors and abilities.
What really irked me though was the one thing that has always irked me in LITERALLY EVERY NOVEL POSSIBLE and that was the concept of love at first sight. The only good thing about this issue in this particular book was that no matter how far fetched the idea really was, this one time it actually suited. I mean, Ashwin and Shurti could have fallen in love with each other given their circumstances.
It hurts me a bit to think that despite their love story, Shruti never disclosed the truth about herself to Ashwin, but then I guess that's just what anybody would have done had they been in her place.
In a nutshell though, this was one of the best mystery thrillers I read in a while and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who follows the genre.
So this has been a pretty long pending book review. A few months back, Abhinav (the author of the book) asked me to review his piece of work and he promised me that it won't be disappointing. He had shared the manuscripts as well as sent me the final copy of the book. Though I had finished the book quite a long time back, I kept procrastinating the review but I had finally decided to do it. Did the author stick on his promise of a book that won't disappoint? Read it further to know.
Blurb :
Trying to protect his pregnant wife, scientist Ashwin Rathore gets killed – unexpectedly and unwantedly. A deadly force lurks in the murk that wants her too, but why? Is it because she works for and with the military and Intelligence teams in the country, or is it because she knows something that no one else does?
My Take on the Book :
Being disappointed with a lot of Indian author books these days, this book comes as a breathe of fresh air. The author takes on a pretty simple plot but his writing and the command over the plot is pretty good and hence one would surely keep asking for more. The story though based on the present day situation, has a subtle hint of supernatural elements which is further tackled with elements of physics and this is the reason the book scores pretty high in a lot of aspect.
I, unfortunately have just one complaint with this book but this is purely on the personal level and not with regards to how the story goes. I just wished that the author had used a bit more frequent jumps between the past and the future rather than handling just one at a time in a stretch, but as I said earlier, it was purely on a personal basis.
So, would I recommend this book. Ofcourse, yes. It took me two sleepless nights to complete the book as I kept turning over pages just to know what would happen next. A brilliant work by a debutant author that should not go unnoticed and I would recommend it to every person reading this review to get your hands on it. Also, the cliffhanger at the end is making me wait for the next book in line. I hope it comes out soon.
My Ratings : 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 out of 5 (A Perfect 5 as it is a brilliant attempt by a debut author)
A book you wish not to end and to know the end of at the same time. A book which comprises of everything from the emotions of love, affection and everything you can think of. A story based on Army, secret Services which includes R&AW, IB. This blends with the strong essence of concept ual physics and the realms whiCh makes it a definite read altogether. I can't wait for the neXt part to come and it's one of the best reads I have ever had. A science fiction avid and physics guys should include this as a must read.
I received a free copy of this book from Outset in exchange for an honest review.

“I got the book as a part of the review program in Outset“
GENIUS!!
Writing about a book so detailed and nuanced is difficult. I can go on rattling about it but to enjoy its essence you will have to read it. The review and even its blurb does not justify the vastness and genuineness of this book. It has been purposefully written to reveal less, the plot has twists beyond your wildest imagination. Expect to see physics in a new light, your fear for the subject will melt into thin air. It was law of attraction at work when i stumbled upon this book and decided to sign up for it.
The protagonist Shruti Rathore and her husband Ashwin Rathore are happily married for 5 years. Both are high level officers where shruti a former spy, is now working as a Senior Intelligence Bureau officer for RAW and Ashwin is a reputed Particle Physics scientist who had previously worked in a classified project for BARC.
In a sudden twist of events Ashwin is killed in a car mishap which was actually a trap laid for six month pregnant shruti.
With repeated attempts on her life and no time to grieve. Shruti with her unborn child proves her mettle as a badass spy again when she decides to find out the people who ruined her life. The series of events that follows leaves her spellbound. As she starts digging up there are more shocking revelations . The Security of the country and its citizens life is at stake. Whether she is able to save herself and the country is the story and there is a supernatural power in the plot too.
The way this story is narrated is different. Different because it is told in the language of physics. Schrodinger’s cat theory, butterfly effect, string theory, chaos are few of the theories included in the narration. I am in awe of the conceptual clarity of the author. Once you read it, his imagination will enthrall you.
Wonderful plot, wonderful characterisation, wonderfully told. Shruti’s character makes my soul happy as she is portrayed as a strong, bold, fearless and a courageous spy best in her profession who can give a run for money to any man in her field. Even with a baby in her tummy she does not give up. Ashwin is a husband every girl would want, a man who loves his wife more than his own life and he proves it after his death too.
Thrilling to the T, goosebumps are guaranteed and what more, the story does not end it is to be continued..
Weaving a thriller spy story around schrodinger’s cat theory, string theory, chaos theory, energy, vibrations… is geniusness.
Go for it if you want to see physics portrayed differently. It may change your perception of physics and your outlook towards it.
Scientist Ashwin 's wife Shruti is 6 month's pregnant . She is in intelligence section and works for millitary department in the Country . Ashwin gets killed while he tries to protect her .The plot revolves around developing a nuclear weapon kali.x, it's missing case and the afterlife of Ashwin where he meets a person who helps him get more information about his wife's troublesome past. Why she was planned to be murdered ? Is it because she in Intelligence team or because she has some information that nobody knows ? There is a twist that is very fascinating in the end.Developing science fictions is something that needs a lot of effort z research and knowledge for making those events sound sensical to readers.Author did that beautifully.
The situations were clearly described that made it easier to imagine the present scenario in the story.
It is a non dragging and engaging thriller which is also a scientific fiction that has elements of supernatural addition.
The writing style of the author is very smooth, breezy and language is kept quite simple for all kinds of readers to find it enjoyable.
I do not read a lot of thrillers but the twists and pace of this fiction made this book a breath of fresh air amidst all drama and other genre books that I usually read. Characters were developed very intricately. Shruti's personality where she was portrayed as a very intelligent , brave and a beautiful lady impressed me.
If you are a thriller lover and you are also looking for science fiction touch to it you may check this book which I hope you all will like.
The Last Attractor of Chaos is a sci-fi thriller, very different from what I have usually read and definitely a first in this genre by an Indian author, and I must congratulate the author for doing a good job of it.
In short - The prestigious and supremely powerful Kali.x has gone missing and the prime suspect is Shruti Rathore, an officer with a dark past, who is on a run from the Government agencies for a 'crime' she did not commit. Guiding her on a different dimension is her dead husband, Ashwin Rathore, who was killed in an attempt actually targeted at Shruti. Through a series of twists and turns, the mystery unfolds.
Language: The language of the book is fluid. One can easily read it in one go, if time permits. The scientific theories have been explained in detail and (should be) easily understood by a person with no background in science. (I cannot be completely sure as I have a decent background in physics). Apart from the first chapter, the entire book is from the POV of the deceased husband. However, there were some glaring grammatical mistakes that, hopefully, would be done away with when the next edition is out.
The characters: The characters have been etched out decently, although I do think a little more background into Ashwin's character was required. Factually, it is all there. Personality wise, a little more detailing would have been good. Shruti's character has a streak of darkness that contributes in creating an aura of mystery to the entire narrative. The supporting characters have been given adequate space to develop and showcase themselves.
The story: The story is unique. The combination of particle physics, thriller and an undercover operation make it a viable option for adaptation and I am hoping to see this book as a movie someday.
The ending/climax: I was a little disappointed with the ending. The climax seems to be a little rushed and the author could've spared a couple of more chapters to satisfactorily tie all the loose ends. The ending seemed abrupt and that took away the charm of the climax.
One glaring problem I had with the book (which also is the reason why I finished the book in two sittings, instead of one) was the portrayal of romance between the two main characters. Not only did it seem ill-founded, whatever little bit of detailing that was given to their relationship only made matters worse. (Vague here to avoid spoiler.) The description of the approach of the male protagonist towards the female protagonist seems too bollywood-ish (and I do not say that in a good way).
Also, there is a part where the author has described the female protagonist having a 'masculine confidence'. This description actually threw me off. Physical traits defined by gender, I can understand. But to deal with a non-physical intangible trait in terms of gender stinks of misogyny at some level, whether conscious or not. A big no-no!
Final thoughts: Recommended read. If one takes the above two points with a pinch of salt, the book is engaging. The USP is that the premise is new and refreshing.
If u are looking for an author or a book which gives thrilling up to the page then just read this book once. I assure you will be gobsmacked.
This is a perfect thriller I read in recent days.
The female protagonist is the centre of the book and the way things played around her makes the exciting stuff.
Do you know what exciting about this book and how it stand different from the other books? It is the mix of philosophy and thriller!! That’s a new type of mix.
Maybe its is quantum mechanics/physics or hindu philosophy or inspired by puranas or I don’t know what it is but salute to the author who has mixed RAW-BETRAYAL-TECHNOLOGY-GHOSTS(!).
The new concept about soul is really awesome.
The last attractor of chaos is like a perfect Hollywood thriller movie keeping entertaining till last page.
The writing style of the author is exactly how a thriller author should write. Once you start reading the book, you will keep on wanting to turn the page and read what happens next and will not stop until the whole story is not completed.
Looking forward for conclusion in next book. "I got the book as a part of the review program in Outset" Review programme by Rakhi Jayashankar
The first and foremost thing I would say is that the author did a commendable job in writing this political thriller. It's intelligent and well-researched. The best thing being, it's a page turner. The thrill of reading this book is that I couldn't just stop myself from reading it. The book also mentions a lot of different government organisations and how they work against each other, adding spice to this thriller.
The author uses these political settings as his plot and the mingles them to bring out the most thrilling setting. Though this book is mainly a thriller, the story also focuses on philosophy and science fiction. So the plot goes to and fro different genres.
It is a bit confusing so keep up with the book's pace as the author inputs some of the characters' back story in between chapters or in the chapters itself. Another thing that confused me a lot during the entire first part of the book is the characters. There's a lot of characters from different organisations and every chapter has some new character. So it took me some time to get used to the characters or where they belonged to or what was their agenda and so on.
This is another fantasy thriller and a pleasant start to my July reads. Abhinav has written a masterpiece and mastered the art of storytelling. The author calls himself a debut writer, but I call him a pro. From the soul of the book to its outer beauty- this book is not just amazing but seemingly interesting. How can you like everything in a book?
Characterization has its own flavor in a book amidst the interesting plot and I rejoiced Ashwin’s and Sruthi’s characters. The book feels like you are watching an Indian cinema and I could relate some areas to the recent Indian movie ‘Paramanu’. I did find some typos- but blame it to the editing because the book, in a nutshell, is pure bliss blended with friendship, love, and patriotism.
The Last Attractor Of Chaos can be read as an analogy to our complex political present and the patriotism chaos. This high-adrenaline escapist fare cinematic page-turner is a must-pack for your weekend.
The book starts off with Ashwin Rathore, a scientist, who gets murdered in a road accident, which was actually planned for his pregnant wife, Shruti. In his afterlife, he meets Tantanum Anuha, who is supposed to assist him through his new life. But, instead of going through the transition, he decides to stay back, and save his wife and his unborn child, from the unknown killer. With very little time and crushing realities around every turn, he uncovers a secret of his wife, he never knew existed, even after spending five years with her. What is this secret? Would he be able to save his pregnant wife? To know these answers, you have to read the book.
The story is a complete package of mystery, thriller and suspense, with bit of supernatural element, making it more interesting. Each chapter unfolds a new mystery, and that really kept me glued to the book. Overall, this is a compelling read full of twists and turns. The suspense is undeniable and the ending is so unpredictable that it left me slack jawed.
Thank you @scribblerabhinav for the #review copy . I loved the the story . And since my favourite genre is #crime and #murder related stories , that's why also I loved the book so much . Coming to writing , the book has got enough detailed description of the facts and characters. I loved the way of writing the book . . Now coming to the main story , Ashwin Rathore , is killed in a well planned murder , that hgets wrong . Although the murderer were after his wife Shruti Rathore ,who is a retired RAW agent. And the story continues . . I don't want to be a spoiler , so I am not revealing the whole story . . But I can tell you one thing , that is the most important thing :- afterlife concept is also involved in the story . You would love to read the book . No doubt the narration of the after life is perfectly done . The plot seemed to be a normal one , but after life concept made it " #unique " in itself . . . If you are a crime lover , #thriller lover , then you shouldn't miss the book . It is perfect for you . .
With the current norm of throwing spotlight on the women, the authors, too, are centring their plots on dauntless and rebellious female protagonists. ‘The Last Attractor of Chaos’ is a fast-paced twisty thriller that can leave your forehead punctuated with sweat. Predictable yet mind-boggling at the same time, this novella narrates the story of Shruti, who is audacious enough to look at a challenge dead in the eye and give a wink! After her husband passes away, she transforms herself into someone who would not give up on life so easily. It is this spirit in her soul that irks many. Written with the creamy flow and concrete characterization, the story doesn’t fail to impress the readers. However, the grammatical errors and the baffling blurb put the story on the line. Even the blurb is grammatically incorrect! There are certain chapters that have a gratuitous narrative.
Finally, I have run out of books from Game of Thrones series and till I am not able to get the last three books from my large hearted friend (wink wink) I am on a forced break of sorts (call it situational) and as I was shuffling my huge pile of unread books, this one jumped at me and said "My Writer sent this to you remember?" and Bingo!! Can life get any better for a self confessed bookworm when he or she gets a book to read straight from the Author? It just can't get any better, I say and what an amazing book and story this one turns out to be. Abhinav Singh, wherever you are man, take a bow, you have got a huge fan in me now, who will be waiting very eagerly for your next book. But let me tell you this one thing right at the very start, I loved your book and I hate you big time for that ending :), I wish I could find you in real life and grill you in person for that giving me that ending, hurry up man! Please don't do this to your fans. For those who have read it already, a big huge Hi5 and for those who haven't but now plan to read it, let me tell you that its a very engaging book, amazing suspense and a shock in the end. After being a huge huge fan of Agatha Christie, I will say I have never got cold feet reaching a books ending when I realized that there was something wrong either with the book or with me or with story but the way he ends it, Bravo. Another thing that got me thinking while reading his book is that, his one book is way way better than all Chetan Bhagat books put together, I wish CB was writing books like the way Abhinav has written. Kudos to him for this one and eagerly waiting for the next in the series.
A book is a success with me if it makes me smile while I read it and it is a grand success when it gives me sleepless night(s) in between the days I wrap it up. Fantastic story of our own Jason Borne not only made me happy but its pace was so frenetic that I had to finish it in flat two days as I just couldn't live with the suspense. The only change Abhinav offers us is that his protagonist is a Girl and on top of that she is a "Sharma" originally :) now, how kool is that ;). A pregnant woman, working for R&AW, Ex Army Intelligence loses her husband in a freak accident or was it really an accident? A nuclear warhead is gone missing in the meantime parallely. Army intelligence, R&AW as well as local cops too are a part of the cat and mouse chase between the bad men and good ones. But there is a history too to it all and why it is happening with her. Is it a terrorist activity or their own internal agents have gone rogue. I loved the way suspense builds up, the way story keeps going back n forth between the present and the past. It kept me not only glued to the narrative but it made me guess big time too (to no avail of-course). On top of that the spiritual part that he has added to the story is simply outstanding. I wish there was a way I could offer a standing ovation in a review :) he deserves that. Especially the convincing way the entire episode is handled, the dead husband trying to help his pregnant wife, How he worries about the yet to be born kid, the way his wife escapes death, how he does that and who helps him (is the best part) but the big question still remains unanswered almost till the very end, whether he will be able to actually succeed or not? You have to read this to know the answers and trust me when I say this, I am quite a lazy man hence I had to stretch it but anyone who loves reading will be able to finish this book in one sitting. It is indeed such a breeze.
Just like the story and its beautiful characters, even the book cover is amazing. I totally love the way it is designed with a pregnant woman holding a machine gun in her left hand partially hidden behind beautiful leaves. I so much wish that someone signs him up for a movie adaptation :) as it will make up for quite a thrilling woman oriented movie.
One thing that I would like to mention here which for sure doesn't take anything away neither from the story nor from the Author is the mistakes made in the book, grammatical (quite a few) and spelling (quite a handful) but since this is a self-published book (Notionpress) I will give him all the benefit of doubt I can and expect a better published book in future.Although I am no expert but mistakes are an eye sore and at times a big turn off especially for a reader like me, who reads a lot but here fortunately the story and characters are so good that I had no time minding that all.
An astonishing scientific saga with a disguise of an edgy spy thriller
Thanks to the author for the review copy.
REVIEW: So basically the book is a spy thriller with a touch of some scientific theories. We can divide the whole novel into two parts, one is the spy story, the body of the novel and other one is the afterlife phenomenon and scientific theories, the soul of it. In one word, the later part was just mind-blowing and amazing. The story deals up with some interesting physics theories as particle physics, quantum enigma, theory of chaos or Entropy and off course the butterfly effect. The description of afterlife, the mysterious dimension were enough to give you goosebumps. Reading these parts was like reading a magnificent science journal. Thanks to the author's profession. The overall concept is highly influenced but the author showed his own perceptions. There is hardly any reference of those interesting concepts in popular Indian literature or films(Except a film named Nannaku Prematho I watched last year). The base was really logical and you will never find it weird or impossible. So it will be a very fresh but wonderful concept you will face.
The best part is that this is not over. The main story - the stylist and thrilling spy story is also brilliant. It has every quality to be a popular spy thriller though some part were predictable. But the progression, character building was brilliant. The author masterfully built ups the tension and holds the mystery. The mood, motive and detailing of the characters were perfect. The storytelling was fine and you will never be bored. Hats off to the author for creating such a brave and brilliant female protagonist Shruti. Actually all the characters and plots were supremely charming. The writing style was apt. With those brilliant science theories, it is wonderful to find the main part equally brilliant. A really promising saga.
But I find two major issues that can't be overlooked. Firstly after the really complicated read, the author left his reader in a irritating 'badly want sequel' position which will be not satisfying for 40% readers. The second part is that despite of the author's fine description, the hard core physics part will not be able to connect with some readers, specially those who find science hard to digest. So it is not everyone's cup of coffee.
There is great science books and greater spy thrillers but there is hardly any book like this which masterfully mixed the two different genres. Being a science student and a physics lover I have been wanting to read something entertaining with the touch of science and this was perfect. It was a grand risk the author took by debuting with this type of subject, but I had to say he managed it brilliantly. Grab your copy and read this, you haven't read anything like this before.
‘The Last Attractor of Chaos’ is a very well-written thriller that holds on to the thrilling effect till the last page. The two main characters in the book are Shruti Rathore and her husband Ashwin Rathore. There are many thrillers and murder mysteries written by Indian authors these days but spy thrillers are limited in number. If I come to think about it, I have only read one such before Abhinav Singh’s ‘The Last Attractor of Chaos’ and I wasn’t really happy about that book.
The story starts off by Ashwin getting murdered (yeah there’s a murder right after you enter the book) but he was just a victim of the situation because the killing was planned for his wife. The plot then shifts off to Ashwin waking up in an unknown place and what seems to be a place not on earth. This is where the afterlife phase comes in. No, the story doesn’t move towards spiritual awakening or something like that, instead there’s a fantasy element to the book. In his afterlife, Ashwin comes across Tantunam Anuha (I first read it as Hakuna Matata :p). Tantunam helps him to keep an eye on his pregnant wife Shruti, to see how she is doing all alone out there. But, Ashwin is surprised when he comes across many facts that shows Shruti was hiding many secrets from her past life which he wasn’t aware of while he was married to her.
I really liked the writing style of the author. The plot isn’t that weaved and complicated but the writing style gave that edge to the plot which would have been otherwise pretty bland and unexciting. The story does shift from past to present but Abhinav Singh has dealt with the timelines well. It didn’t get distracting nor were the shifts too frequent.
If I talk about the narration, I would say that overall it was good but at some places it lacked the flow that the author had initially set. So, sometimes it was slow and other times it was fast. I noticed that when Shruti’s past came into the plot, the flow in the narration was wavering. But other than that, the narration worked well for me.
The ending of the book was great. I have seen that in cases of thrillers and mysteries, everything would be fine with the book then when it’s time for the climax, woof! It’s gone in a minute. But Singh made sure that the ending wasn’t rushed. Thumbs up for that!
What I think could have been better is the overall look and presentation of the book and by that I mean the cover and the blurb. The cover doesn’t do justice to the content of the book because I didn’t find it relatable to the characters to the plot in any way. So, maybe a cover which actually reflects part of the story would be good. For the blurb, I would say that it needs some more information to it. It just feels incomplete. Another thing which I think could have been better were the dialogues (not all but some specific ones). There were some dialogues which didn’t really go well with the scene and the characters. It’s like you won’t expect them to say something like that in certain situations. That’s something which I felt was almost overlooked.
‘The Last Attractor of Chaos’ is a thriller which is bound to keep the readers hooked till the end of the book.
If you are someone who enjoys thrillers, this book should be on your tbr!

The story of "The Last Attractor of Chaos" is a perfect combo of mystery and thrill. The sci-fi or supernatural elements makes the book interesting. The storyline makes the audience hooked till the end.The best book for anyone who loves to read books related to mystery and thrill.
I am a huge fan of war and spy fiction books, because the kind of thrill and adventure these books offer till the last sentence totally sends you in shock or in a state of bliss. I have read many books on spy espionage by Daniel Silva, Colin Dexter, Ken Follet and Maclean, but this book is my first encounter with the Indian spy fiction - it literally delves deep into the mechanism of RAW, IB and Military. The best part of this book is that it shows how political motives affect the working of these institutions.
I loved this book from start to end for two reasons. First it was action packed all the time, and secondly the protagonist Shruti reminded me of Hollywood actresses who do every possible thing to break through from their adverse circumstances. Well, it is a story where a powerful nuke weapon of India goes missing in a sort of military training. It is evident that the work is not done by external people, but by those who are part of some system.
Like it happens in big scams and scandals and thefts, there has to be someone who should take the blame. This time Shruti has been targeted. She is six months pregnant. Her husband Ashwin Rathore (physics particle scientist who helped to build the stolen nuke weapon) gets killed by some hired goons. She is alone but strong. She is arrested and taken in the center stage by her own own department because her sad and dull past indicates that she could be one of the persons who can steal the weapon for revenge.
But in reality, she is the person who can bring back the weapon. But there is nobody who can trust or believe her. It is saddening that the IB and RAW agencies are so merciless that they do not consider her pregnancy - it was something unhuman.
There is a lot to know about this character and what actually happens in the story. You need to read from the very beginning to understand it. Also, there is one more element to the book, it is that her husband is shown following her after death. There are some logic of physics in this book because of the author's background. Despite all it is a good book and people must give it a try.
Indian writing has seen several fantasy novels. While many of them concentrated purely on the technical know how and core science, some concentrated on the protagonists and their life. Very rarely have we come across books that balance both. 'The Last Attractor of Chaos' is one of that sort.
The plot opens with the murder Ashwin Rathore, a particle physicist who is a part of construction of a strategically important weapon. Ashwin succumbs to the bullets in an attempt to save his wife Sruthi, who has a plethora of secrets around her life that Ashwin himself is unaware of. Further we see that Sruthi is being hunted down on charges of treason and we see the 6 months pregnant lady on the run to secure an important information that, if not secured, will make the wrong people privy to the national secrets. Sruthi calls whatever happening in her life, providence, and the readers themselves witness the same.
The cascade of events that happen after Ashwin’s demise makes a perfect cliffhanger. The major part of the book is in first person narration by Ashwin. Author has crafted the tale in such a way that readers would be able to have a 3D view of each scenario. The introduction of sruthi in the beginning, when the lovers met for the first time as well as the past proves the finesse of the author.
Sruthy's past is a deviation from the mood of the whole book and did affect the pace. Nonetheless, considering the level of interest generated by the rest of the book, it is negligible. Quite often Sci fi books and movies consider the readers/viewers as imbeciles and stuff silly terms unnecessarily but Abhinav Singh has maintained a balance of the same.
On a personal note, I loved this book. It was in Jan 2016 that I rated a five star for a book called Kashmir House. After that there was 'An autobiography of a Yogi' but it was a classic and hence I would not count it. So after two and a half years here is another book which grabbed 5 stars from me. I wonder why the author had to self-publish the book. I can vouch for the fact that here was have yet another bestselling author in the making.
First of all thank you very much for sending a copy of the book for review.
The book is divided in to two parts… one is spy story and the other part is afterlife scientific theories. This book has written with full of fresh ideas and the writing is very simple. In short the whole concept is new and wonderful. The story is having some interesting physics theories, afterlife etc. This part is well narrated and written nicely. Unlike much science fiction, the characters are very well realized and developed, as are their relationships with each other. As I've implied, the characters are what make this book great, and that applies to all of them, human or otherwise.
Thru female protagonist Shruti, the author has nicely built up the story. A young scientist Ashwin Rathore is gets killed while carrying some important secret documents and the same force is behind his pregnant wife Shruti. Is Shruti part of an Agency or she a Spy? The wonderful book will give you answers to your queries. I am not going deep in to the story I read this story quite a while back with no special expectations. Like most books I read it just happened to be lying around the house.
I read it, was hugely entertained, and went on to read three or four of the sequels. This is sci-fi, not hard sci-fi, not soft sci-fi... let's say 'chewy'
To me the book is Subversive, mysterious, incredible, mind-boggling, a gripping, fantastic, scientific, spy thriller. The complexity and depth of the creation is staggering and I am continually astounded at the discipline with which Abhinav Singh must have focused his imagination..
I can say simply …This has to be, hands down, one of the best science fiction books written. And finally then there's the twist. I'll say no more on that except that I was too engaged with the story to see it coming, and when it hit me ... well, I'd give the book 5* just for that moment. It doesn't work for everyone but it did for me!
I think lately I am attracting below 3-star books so much that I don’t know what do about them! Okay, so let us start from the beginning. Let us start with the pros and cons.
Talking about the pros: the storyline is interesting, loved the way it has been written in one of that ‘bad-guy-good-guy’ manner, in this book’s case, ‘bad-girl-good-girl’ manner. The title, ‘The Last Attractor of Chaos’ seems to be apt for the plot and actually if given a thought, it can be turned into a good thriller movie. The writing style is good in terms of a debut book and the flow is there making it intense and gripping. A lot like Dan Brown book’s (not comparing) concept. The added touch of physics and afterlife kinda made it a lot like Sci-fi genre. Oh and there are so many facts about both physics and military, I loved those.
Talking about the cons: There were many! Starting with the book cover, it was way too subtle and doesn’t communicate much about the book. The book description says it all about the book which makes it a little predictable. Once you start reading the book, the first three chapters were really amazing and the part where Ashwin Rathore dies, the way it has been depicted, I had goosebumps, but after that, I just did not appreciate it. All of a sudden the ‘afterlife’ part pops up and that I felt was a little too much. Plus there were so many grammatical errors. The entire storyline became very predictable and I lost the interest in reading the book halfway through. After a certain period of time, I just wanted to finish the book cause I had to.
But one thing about the book, I should appreciate the author for it, a lot about ‘afterlife’ has been explained mixing the concept of ‘God’ and ‘Physics’ together and the last few pages really made me like the author’s ideas and concepts about death and existence. It is a good book, a one time read. Attractor Of Chaos is a book for those who enjoy reading thrillers but not for those who ‘love’ reading thrillers or mystery books, they might pinpoint many flaws. So yea, I will still recommend this book!!
Book Name: The last attractor of Chaos Author: Abhinav Singh Genre: Spy thriller, Mystery Publisher: Notion Press
Plot: Trying to protect his pregnant wife, scientist Ashwin Rathore gets killed – unexpectedly and unwantedly. A deadly force lurks in the murk that wants her too, but why? Is it because she works for and with the military and Intelligence teams in the country, or is it because she knows something that no one else does?
My opinion: I am thriller lover, but unfortunately I never pick thriller books by Indian authors because very few fulfil my expectations! When I picked this up, I definitely thought it was like any other usual thriller by an Indian author, I was shocked when I started to read it! I was like, "Oh God Dammn"!! What is more surprising- It is Abhinav's debut novel! I definitely loved each & every bit of the book! I loved the relationship showed between husband & wife it seemed usual but kinda special, the author has blended many flavours other than mystery & thrill- they are like a bit short romance, respect & honesty towards job & profession, self- belief, etc. But my favourite were- the after death life (when Abhinav is guided by Anuha after he is died) & obviously physics factors & elements! Cover is also good, hoping more better next time. Highly recommend to everyone.
Pros: The book was more than 300 pages but I never felt bored or stuck while reading it. The plot & story line is adorable, loved all the ups & downs in the book. Language was super easy but if you are not a science student then you would need google's help to understand some physics terms. The book was fast paced, I loved the protagonist- Arjun (shown as an impactful & strong human). I am waiting to read more such books from the author!
Thrillers have always been my favourite genre and after reading every single one of them I find myself looking for something different, something more in the next one I can pick. And this book has been just the one I was looking for right now.
While trying to balance all various concepts about life and universe this thriller following a rare female protagonist, that too a spy, we get a surprises packed book. And adding to the seemingly interesting plot, the author has written with visible efforts keeping up with the realistic touch in this piece of fiction. What made me adore it, even more, was how the author, who is a teacher of physics, saved the book from breaking almost all the laws of physics even with the action-packed plot, giving me something which can look good on a screen.
Talking about the plot itself, we get the widow of a scientist turned spy who while protecting herself and her country also goes on to unfold the mysteries behind the forces trying to kill her after killing her husband. Talking about the story too much gives it away in the case of thrillers, so I'll resist myself and just point out how while reading this book we will open up the pages of the lives of agents of secret agencies who work harder than anyone else but without any recognition even after all their sacrifices along with the training and hardships that they have to confront on their road of this thrilling journey.
Ignoring the most of missed errors which I found in it this book has been an interesting read for me and just as I expected, the ending was just a long enough web connecting almost all the loops written in this package of a thriller.
A fast paced thriller that would keep you hooked from the beginning till the end. The story, I would say would not only come under Thriller but it also has a pinch of Sci-Fi attached to it making it a great read for those who loves these two genres.
When I was reading the story, I was feeling that I was seeing Dr Strange and Underworld Evolution together(in a different concept). No where you would feel bored when you were reading the story which is the success element for this novel.
When Scientist Ashwin Rathore gets killed instead of his wife Shruti, he hardly knew that she had greater secrets hidden with her. She belonged to the task force which was assigned to protect a weapon which would bring massive destruction, if it had fallen in the wrong hands.
However she herself gets vindicated despite her best attempts to prove her innocence to Col Raguvaran. On the other hand, her boss - Director of IB Raman Vasudevan and Atul Sinha beieved that she was innocent to be pressed with charges of treason despite her association with Junaid Hassan, a person who is known for his contacts with underworld and on top of that, Mahesh Mehta who was under the lens of IB for a while tries calling up Shruti before he gets killed.
Who is behind all these chaos?
What is their motive?
Did Shruti prove her innocence?
Did she do it all alone by herself or did someone help her?
Read this novel which would open up various avenues making you feel real surprised with the twists and turns, it has to offer....
