John Lewis Hart, also known as Johnny Hart, was an American cartoonist noted as the creator of the comic strip B.C. and co-creator (with Brant Parker) of the strip The Wizard of Id. Hart was recognized with several awards, including five from the National Cartoonists Society, and the Swedish Adamson Award. In his later years, he sparked controversy by incorporating overtly Christian themes and messages into the strips.

A great annual from the Stone Age, including some fascinating political debate where the outcome of both candidates losing is that the voters win, and a poem by the most interesting of all Stone Age poets, Wiley:

The uses for penpoints, so some people think,
Are restricted to scrolling and dabbing,
Though perfectly useless without ink,
They are quite well adapted for stabbing.

Always such a delicate imagery in Wiley’s poems.

Coming out in 1978 with strips from July of 72 through January of 73. Hart is in good form as usual. The Olympic games serve as a basis for a number of strips here and among other developments BC grows a mustache which he doesn't keep very long.

Another collection of "oldies but goodies" comic strips; I've enjoyed B.C. for years, reading it in the newspaper as a kid. Finding these collections of strips from before I was born is always great.
