Bridget has never fully been free to be herself in a relationship, feeling the need to edit herself to suit expectation...until she meets David, whose expectations of her are for her to fully be herself.
The two leads are sweet and a bit quirky which I really liked. I enjoyed how honest they were with one another and if they did have any doubts it was brought up immediately and discussed. I appreciate that this didn't go the typical big misunderstanding subplot that gets used in this genre often. I felt there was an intimacy between these two that wasn't necessarily sexual that is lovely. Another aspect I appreciated was how often they asked each other if something was okay or if they had changed their mind and reiterating it was okay to do so. I think blatant consent is sexy so I really liked that.
I did find myself craving some sort of conflict or angst but I will admit that's more of a personal preference. It was also a little too dialogue-heavy for me.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was humorous, sweet, and left me with a smile on my face.
This is an adorable love story! Jenlyn Thawsley writes romance the way you want it to happen in real life: it's realistic and you get to see characters have a relationship where they are respected, cherished, supported, and listened to! These are very real people with real insecurities and pasts. But, what I really love is that Thawsley doesn't lean on conflict or misunderstanding to drive the story. And the story is still very much driven!
