This is another story featuring Martha as the lead. She wrestles with her legalist way of living and seeing a different life that Eli lives. In some ways I questioned how she could really be a believer of God as she struggled to love (even like) people who were different to her. She is perhaps too dramatic an example of an individual living under the law but I'm sure there are people like her in the world.

But what was so significant about the story was Martha;'s struggle with her faith and her heart being opened to another way ... the way of love, the way of Jesus. I hope we get to read another episode featuring Martha to see whether she grabs a hold of the truth and surrenders to her Lord.

Eli plays an important role in this episode. His tenderness and care for Martha are a lovely example of Jesus.

The Eli Diaries are a spiritual speculative where Jesus comes to earth in an alternative universe in the equivalent 21st-century. There, he attends a local California high school. In this novella episode, Krista McGee takes the character, Martha, to a new level, exploring her heart and issues of faith, love and true significance. This novella is another stimulating read in this series.
