Uninhibited #2

Fading to Black

We’re flawed. Both full of scars and tormented by the shadows of our past. But in each other’s arms we find solace, we find perfection.

Adam Black. Gorgeous, demanding, a sinful dream that once was my reality.

I was his… until I walked away.

For months I’ve managed to curb my Adam addiction. I’ve focused my energy on my painting career. I’ve found success. Still there is a dangerous urge within me I can’t resist, one that tempts me to be reckless. My life isn’t complete.

Something is missing… he’s missing.

I left him, but fate again has made us collide. And this time I won’t turn away—I won’t be the only one revealing the scars of my past.

I was his… am his… and this time he’ll be completely mine.

V.H. Luis is the author of the Uninhibited Series, an erotic romance trilogy that follows the love affair of Evelyn Snowe and Adam Black. Her debut book WAKING to Black, was released May 2, 2018, and the subsequent sequels FADING to Black, and SURRENDERING to Black, will follow shortly thereafter.

I’m a born and bred Miami Girl—and proud of it! I would wear shorts and flip-flops everyday of the week if I could. Growing up in Miami, surrounded by my parent’s heritage has made me proud of my Cuban ancestry. Cafecito and a guava pastry for breakfast? Yes, please! Salsa music while I tidy the house? Of course.

The stories I enjoy writing are heart-felt and full of emotion. The journey my characters take is important and I want to see them develop through dialogue and interaction. My writing has been described by others as full of angst, gritty and honest.

If I’m not busy scribbling notes about the story pounding out of my head, I’m painting, listening to music, or spending time with the love of my life—my son. If I decide to travel, I bring the whole family (in-laws included), or at least I try to, because life is too short not to spend it with family; one of the many lessons my father taught me.

The wait is finally over! Adam and Eve are back and V.H. Luis delivered another roller coaster ride in this turbulent couple’s story. The story picks up five months after the events in book one and to say this was a tense and bumpy journey for Adam and Eve would be an understatement. The characters still had the capacity to pull at my heartstrings and the raw realism that was evident in Waking to Black hasn’t faded. Told solely through Eve’s POV, the story takes you through Eve’s ups and downs and highs and lows while she tries to get her life back on track. She tries to understand her unpredictable emotions while trying to navigate the consequences of her actions, all the while juggling her overwhelming feelings for Adam.

Not knowing whether you expectations of a book/series will be met is always a gamble since you can’t guess how an author will choose to develop the characters. All you can do is keep your finger’s crossed and hope for the best. I’m happy to say the author was able to give me that softer, more approachable Adam that I was hoping for and that Eve is growing and slowly but surely getting stronger.

I loved the more expressive and supportive Adam in this part, the way he played the role of protector and going all warrior mode for Eve was swoonworthy *sigh* It was everything that I wanted from him and pretty much made him my favorite character right now. It was a tricky balancing act since the more protective he became the more stifling Eve felt. The story isn’t finished just yet but I’m fully invested in this couple now and will be anxiously awaiting the final part. The ending to this was almost too perfect to mess with but I totally get that there are still some loose ends that need to be tied up and that Eve still needs to work through some things before they can ride off into the sunset.

Also I am all kinds of excited for Sarah and Jax as a couple! I am shipping them so hard! It doesn't hurt that I have a thing for hot authority figures and Jax pretty much fills all the check boxes, Lol!

Memorable Moments:
Call me a sucker but I LOVED Adam playing John Legend’s “All of Me” on the piano. Not only was it a cute romantic gesture but this was a really emotionally charged moment for both MCs.

Adam glanced from the keys, his eyes instantly settling on me, as if even in a crowd of hundreds, an all-consuming energy tethers us together. His teeth flash white, and his gorgeous smile makes my heart race. His stare is unyielding. It speaks of desire, passion, irrefutable hunger and a tenacity I know is the reason I will never be able to turn away from him; it’s the look of pure love.

* * * Thank you to the author for gifting me an ARC * * *
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This has been an interesting series. I do like these characters and I enjoy their story. They are not perfect people, by far. They have faults and weaknesses and are pretty broken by things in their life. It makes for an interesting read. The romance between them is odd and the families definitely have issues. I have enjoyed reading these. The first book I think I enjoyed more, but this one wasn't bad either. It was very different from the first.

It definitely left many things open ended and several of those were things I was hoping to have some sort of answers to or closure for, but that didn't happen. Overall, I did enjoy the read.

I received an ARC of this book. I loved it! There is something so compelling about Adam and Evie's story. The way the author writes them makes me cheer for their success as a couple; even though they can be frustrating, irrational, and annoying, I appreciate the way they unite (not always immediately, but they get there eventually) when presented with obstacles. I can't say much more without spoilers, but the fact that Evie struggled after leaving Adam in book one actually felt like the most real outcome of that decision and I'm glad that the author took that approach.

The supporting characters run the gamut from endearing to abhorrent and are the glue that makes everything come together into a riveting whole. The sex scenes are hot as hell, too. Those aren't easy to write without making them seem ridiculous sometimes, but she does them well. My biggest complaint is that I really dislike cliffhangers and this one left two big ones. I need the third book, like, right now.

Fading to Black is the second installment in the Uninhibited series by V.H. Luis. Holy. Crap. Adam and Eve are back and on fire!! I was so flabbergasted by it that I was literally biting my nails.

In the beginning, you get to see what exactly is going through Eve’s mind and just how bad she is taking the break up. I understand why she did it but come on, Eve is not Eve without Adam. There is something about their relationship that keeps the other on track because they have so much love between them. The separation gave them room to grow in some ways and when they come back, they are fire.

V.H. really outdone herself with this second installment. I look every day to see if the third installment has come out because I need it in my life like today. If you have not jumped into this series yet, I suggest you jump in eyes first!! You will not regret it at all. V.H. is literally amazing and the way she writes is wonderful.

I enjoyed the first book, and this was definitely a case of book two surpassing book one. The characters were better developed, and man, some of them were vile! Adam's family is the worst. He and Evie still struggle in this book to trust each other and open up. There is so much more happening in this story, a bit of intrigue and suspense with an overall tense feel. It is a bit like an up and down rollercoaster. Their chemistry is, as always, amazing and explosive. They were absolutely made for each other even though it seems everything comes against them. Like book one, it is a cliffhanger, but not a bad one. That's not to say that I won't be jonesing for book three, because I truly will.

Net Galley provided an ARC.

Fading to Black by V.H. Luis is book Two in the Uninhibited Series. This continues the story of Evelyn 'Evie' and Adam. I strongly feel you should read the first book 'Waking to Black' before starting this one. This book picks up a few months after the first one but it still is a emotional roller coaster ride that keeps you turning pages. I couldn't wait to read the book and it did not let me down, enjoyed it. Looking forward toward the next book by Ms. Luis.

First I must say a big THANK YOU to V.H for providing me with the PDF, I really love your story. A few words to describe this story.

Amazing, emotional, heart wrenching and warming at the same time.

I love love love this story so much! Really, I mean seriously the way V.H writes about Evie being so stubborn ( I love and hate how Evie thinks so little of herself but I totally understand there is no fairytale in reality.) And Adam, my god, by the end of the #1, I did somehow feel that Adam is an arrogant ahole who doesn’t deserve Evie. Well, Evie has her own problems/demons to deal with and Adam should have understood the reasons behind. But this time, #2 is so much deeper. I am now looking at how different Adam has changed for Evie, from start till the end!

Just WOAH, I never thought V.H will put Adam and Evie with so many hurdles in #2.
description

Another part which surprises me more is the kidnapped scene, although that scene is a bit messy and hard to understand the actions BUT I love how Adam finds his way to help Evie. He really is in love with her and finally can say “I love you” to Evie. People always say you will know who you love the most after you lost them, I guess this can apply to our Mr Black.

What a brilliant ending though...I think the ending is missing a little excitement. I mean if comparing the ending of #1 & #2, #1 is a bigger cliffhanger. Maybe V.H should add a few pages like a glimpse of # 3? Maybe a few page POV  from the enemy?
description

And last, I do think this book deserves a 5 star for sure, I’m in love with Adam and Evie. The story is beautiful enough. Despite there were several minor parts I do not get but the story itself is still beautiful. [Oh and the cover too, love the cover of the series!] I am a fan of Evie and Adam, I really hope they can get happy ever after ending. Both of them suffered too much, they deserve to be happy.

After reading the first book in the uninhibited series, Waking to Black, I was keen to read more and find out what would happen with Evelyn and Adam. While the first book followed the beginning of their relationship, this second book focuses on from when they have separated and follows them as they find one another again.

In the last book, I was interested to see how Evelyn would deal with a very controlling man, which is what Adam is. As a rule, I don't like these domineering characters, but Evelyn, despite her many problems, does seem to be able to match him and I think that there's a real chance that they could become equals. In this book, that relationship develops further, with both Evelyn and Adam trusting one another more and more and giving more away.

Both Adam and Evelyn have pretty hideous families. We saw a little of this in the previous book, but Adams family, in particular, seems to get even worse this time. It seems that everything is against them.

I really liked seeing the relationship between Adam and Evelyn grow. They still have a little way to go I think, which is probably a good thing, seeing as there's another book to go as yet. Although this book doesn't leave on a cliff hanger as such, there are still plenty of questions that need to be answered, not only for our main characters but Adam's sister and Evelyn's best friend also seem to have storylines that need a little more explanation.

This is a good read. I would suggest reading book one first so that you can follow the story from the beginning. I'm certainly looking forward to book three, I hope that I don't have to wait too long for it.

I received a copy of this book from BookSends ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I signed up for this book, I have to admit that the title gave me some trepidation. The title was reminiscent of 50 Shades, and I am not a fan of that book at all. As I read, those fears started to fade quickly.

It is obvious to me - and not just from the fact that the subtitle is Unhibited 2- that this is a part of a series. That being said, it is easily read as a standalone, with the author giving enough information for the reader to understand the backstory, without pushing the envelope or irritating the reader who did read the first story.

The main characters are flawed, and sometimes in an annoying way. It is completely necessary and as you read, understandable. It makes them real and approachable, and overall, more likeable the further you read.

Having lived in South Florida for 16 years, and spending a great amount of time in the theatre and arts scene there, it was a treat for me that the author incorporated many of the best parts of Miami arts in the story. Loved it!

It’s 5 months later and Evelyn and Adam are still apart. She is showing signs of independence. She is moving forward with her art career. However, Evie is living wild and out of control. He friend and family are worried. She is doing things to make her feel. Dangerous things that caused painful injuries. But other parts of her life are growing. Adam comes crashing in again. He is still stubborn, alpha and take charge. They once again have to fight through insecurities, jealousy and other people trying to steal their joy. Stalkers, family and others are everywhere trying to pull them apart and at some point threaten their lives. Just when things look up, again we are left with more unanswered questions. Looking forward to more Adam and Evie!

Another addicting book in the series. :)

Evie walks away from Adam and in the months since then she painted and took up dangerous hobbies, trying to forget all about him. It's not long until they are thrown back together. The spark between them is strong as ever, but the path to happily ever after is not straightforward. They both have to come to terms with their past in order to move together into the future.

There is something about this series, that is so addicting. I couldn't stop reading and binged both books in the series. :) Both Evie and Adam are very likable, they are very different, intriguing in their own way and can be very frustrating at times.

Such a fun, quick, bingeable read. :)

It feels like I was waiting for this sequel for a year instead of a few months 😅 I love Adam and Evelyn and all there many flaws. This book was a crazy roller coaster. I love how imperfect of characters they are, they both can can be wrong about situations when they are fighting. Can’t wait for the next book to know why Tina was upset with her, and who her mystery guy was that night.

“The worst day with you is still a thousand times better thank any day without you” this line 😭😭😭😭

Excellent second book in this series but now I can't wait for the next one to see what happens!! Just as intriguing as the first book -- Eve and Adam put you through a range of emotions that won't let you put this book down until you've finished reading it. Can't wait for Book #3! I enjoyed the first book and this one was even better. The couple had to overcome a lot of roadblocks with achy-breaky moments. The author took the difficult road on some of the characters decisions that I'm sure some readers may not agree with but it made for great reading.

This was a continuation of book one. It was well written and the characters were even more developed and more intriguing. His family was unbelievable in a horrific sense. She was still trying to come to terms with their relationship and I felt every emotion as it was written in the book. I can't wait for book three. Recommend.

Fading to Black (Uninhibited #2) by V.H. Luis Fading to Black

Updated on 01/06/19

I did not get a chance to read the first book, BUT I do intend to go back and read the first book so that I am able to understand Adam and Eve’s situation a little bit better. This is the second book in in the Uninhibited Series. I do recommend that you read them in order, which I wish I had done before I dove in headfirst.

I did enjoy this book even though I did not get the chance to read the first book. When I first started to read, I felt that the book was throwing me a little bit of ‘Fifty Shades’ vibes. I know all of you that grand slammed it with “the best book yet” comments are angry with me about now. However, to each there own I suppose.

Okay moving on, I did feel the same way allot of us that reviewed this book, that Evelyn was a whinny-spoiled brat. I know that this how V.H. wanted to portray this character, but she annoyed the heck out of me. In addition, Adam, it was almost as if he stepped into Eve’s life as a father figure role.

I am going to go back and read Waking to Black Waking to Black (Uninhibited #1) by V.H. Luis the first book in the Uninhibited Series. Because I believe, everything will fall into place for me much better by doing so. However as it stands right now I give this book 4 ½ stars.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

I proud to announce I will be hosting the book tour (01/28/19-02/02/19) for Fading to Black sponsored by Xpresso Book Tours. My post for this tour will be on my I'm All About Books blog.

If you love someone, set them free, and if they come back then it was meant to be... or something along those lines. That’s what comes to mind with this story.

Evelyn Snowe needed to find herself, she needed to become stronger and she felt she could only do that away from Adam Black. The man who seemed to reach into her soul even if she didn’t want him to. The man who made breathing easier when it was hard. The man who brought all her secrets out demanding her honesty... and for five months she submerged herself in doing anything to get her adrenaline pumping.

Just when she feels she’s stronger in her skin she sees Adam at a function with another woman, but she fails to see it’s a ruse, something to get her to react to him, and in one night she’s back in his bed, moving in with him the next day.

Even though Evelyn is with him, his demons are still there, and while he demands all of her, she feels like she’s not getting all of him. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions... But they’re better together than they are apart. She’s stronger with him, and he’s a better man, they make each other happy and sated.

When his life is threatened it looms over their relationship bringing out demons in both of them. He knows she’s under threat and does everything to try and protect her, but her emotions cause him heartache and Adam nearly loses the woman he loves without ever having uttered those three words to her... When he does get her back he’s ready to open up to her and to have her by his side forever. Caring for Evelyn, protecting her, helping her to find herself.

And that’s where the story ends.... BUT I DON’T WANT IT TO END HERE!!!!

There’s more to this story... There HAS TO BE!!!! It can’t just end like this.... I want... No, I NEED the next chapter in their tale. I want their happily ever after! I hope I don’t need to wait long.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It had twists and turns at every chapter, as I got closer to the end I didn’t want it to be over, I prolonged it... But still managed to finish it quicker than I wanted to. Good stories tend to do that, they pull you in and you’re immersed in their world for a while and when it’s over you stare at the book hoping more will magically appear. I can’t wait for the next instalment!

I enjoyed how real Evelyn seemed when she wasn’t with Adam, mostly towards the beginning of the book. She was going through a tough time and we saw how she coped with it. Luis brought to life how her character dealt with the tough times and I’m sure many could relate to why she was the way she was throughout the book.

Parts of the book didn’t hold my attention as I had hoped it would due to the fact that Luis wrote the same action happening over and over again. How many times did we really need to read that Evelyn and Adam hooked up? Seemed like in every chapter the two of them were off having sex, leading not much more to their characters other than the fact that they couldn’t get enough of each other. I would have liked to have seen a little more plot for the two other than them just getting it on every single second.

Because of what I mentioned above, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Then again, that’s just me. Someone else might like that type of plot, but it’s not my cup of tea.

I didn’t like how Adam’s mind was so one set. He always wanted sex with Evelyn as soon as he saw her. Once or twice, sure that’s fine. But every single time, it got old pretty fast. And Evelyn, who I thought was a strong character at first, especially after what she overcome, was ruined when she would drop everything because Adam said so. She lost her voice whenever he was around, making her weak. I don’t like when women are portrayed as being weak because of a man.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t one character I couldn’t pick as a favorite. Even with their flaws, I couldn’t find anything redeeming in them.

I would recommend this book for anyone who is into a book that has these types of characters because I know even though it wasn’t much to my liking, others would enjoy the book.
