The war for Haven is over. Another adventure is about to begin…
Join Brie and Kira as the events of the Enhanced series, and Warrior Race series, are brought back together in epic fashion.
Together, the young hybrids will discover new powers and encounter new evil. They’ll be forced to use their unique gifts to work together and keep each other alive. And they’ll find that the world they know is even more dangerous than they realised…
In the depths of the north, something is awakening. And it may be darker and more terrifying than anything they’ve faced before…
This was a Great ending of the series! Everything was tied up nicely except, who is Merk going to have relations with Lady Orlando or Brenda. Hopefully in the next series it will be revealed.
I really enjoyed this book as Kira and.Brie are my favourite characters. Their world keeps expanding and they fight for the people who are persecuted for being different or not worthy in a strangers eyes. I cannot wait to see where this story goes as it keeps getting better and the worldbuilding is amazing. There is never a dull minute as adventure is just around the corner.
This book is like an epilogue, combining The Enhanced series and The Warrior Race series. I love that it explains what happens afterwards with Brie and Kira! There wasn't a chance in the original Enhanced series for Brie and Kira to bond, so it's nice that they finally get to now. I highly recommend reading those 2 series first before reading this stand-alone book.
The only reason I couldn't give this book a 5 stars is because there was nothing going on in the first 40% or so of the book. It was a lot of monologue thoughts running through both Brie and Kira's heads, which in my opinion was excess and unnecessary. The recap ran for too long, as things only started getting exciting in the second half of the book. But the second half was definitely well done!
For those who enjoyed the Enhanced series or the Warrior Race trilogy, this book offers as much excitement as those two stories put together. I am not sure how to start writing this review since there is a lot to say so I might as well just start.
In this story there is sadness, adventure, anger, happiness, love, and a whole bunch of other emotions. I really loved this book because it brought back my favorite characters: Brie and Kira. These girls are amazing in their own ways, and this time, they get to work together for a good cause. Unlike in the Enhanced series, Brie had very little time to spend with Kira before Kira was kidnapped and taken to Neorome. This time though, it is all about the new friendship that has developed between Kira and Brie...or better said between Red and Scout. (you'll have to read the book to understand!)
The book is written in third person( which I'll admit I don't like so much) but once you start reading you cannot stop. There is a new enemy to fight, The Herald of the Cult of the Awakening, and Brie and Kira are up to the challenge. They will fight together to the end: Brie displaying a "new" strenght while Kira will show how gifted she is and how she came to be the fearless spy-assassin of the Nameless.
This book also brought back the feeling of the very first books in the Enhanced series. Brie returned to be a young girl with a troubled life but cheerful thoughts, while Kira stuck to her soldier training.
Speaking of Brie, I liked how her character developed after her unfortunate situation in book 10 of the Enhanced series. It was kind of expected that Brie would become depressed and uninterested of life, but I never thought she would become 'that' depressed. Brie changed. She lost sight of who she was and why she was living, and her friends could do little to help. At some point, I stopped liking her because of her lack of enthusiasm. However, it all changed again when Kira returned from Neorome to New Haven, and Brie decided to join her on her trip to take Gwyn back to her home. (yes, New Haven, read the book to find out why c:). Brie discovered something new within her, and that opened a lot of questions for readers: Is she going crazy? Is it her imagination? Or the Herald was right and Brie has a special gift? Anyway, Brie found herself back thanks to the adventure she lived with Kira.
And well, Kira...she is just amazing. She proved she was worthy of being called "The Red Warrior." In this book, there is new information of Kira which fills the blanks of how she turned out to be a skilled member of the Nameless. Kira helps everyone who is in danger, and this book confirms it. To anyone who likes her character, this book is so worth reading! There is a lot of Kira to discover, which will make you like her even more! As for her romatic relationship that she left back in Neorome with Dom, *sighs* They are adorable! I adore them together! And if you do too, read the book to know about a lovely encounter of the couple.
And finally, I will say what I did not like so much. I don't like when it is written in a third point of view because the story gets a little boring. There is little dialogue and interaction between the characters because it is the narrator who mainly is "talking". This is just an opinion, though.
I hope there is more to this story because there's a lot to tell. For the moment, however, I recommend this book to anyone who has read the Enhanced/Warrior Race books. And to those who haven't read them, well give it a try! You won't regret it.
TLDR: A bloody fantastic read that gives you just one more fix of The Enhanced series - let's face it, after 10 books, you're always gunna want more - especially when the books are this good! Great storyline told with a side helping of every emotion going. A classic example of young adult futuristic dystopia done right. If stories about the underdog's fight for survival in a world that's gone to shit is your bag - you need this book (well, this series actually) in your life.
This is a follow-on story, picking up where we left off in The Enhanced series.
The book tells the story of life after The Enhanced for Brie and Kira. The games are over and Brie is heading home in the hope that her friends are still there waiting for her, amid the war that had taken too many already. The war is won and society is building itself back up. Along with Kira, the girls head out to make sure Gwen makes it back to her mother, after surviving a fight to the death in the gladiator games, but this isn't the simple stroll they hoped for. The girls end up facing an evil that they could never imagine existed.
The Enhanced is a fantastic series. In the world of futuristic dystopia Young Adult stories, this series is up there with the best - and trust me, I've read enough of them to know. Its a great suggestion of what the future could be - I think that's why I'm drawn to this genre so much - my curiosity of what our future could look like, and what possibilities writers can come up with.
I digress.
This book has a great storyline which had me hooked from the start, wanting to know more about our female lead and her powers as she gets to grips with her gift and develops them as she faces the evils in the world.
I'm not giving anything away, so I'll simply say - this is a classic young adult dystopia. Our female protagonist faces the powers that be in a world that's gone to hell to try to make a brighter future for what's left of society.
The plot is sound, told well. Instantly, you are cheering on our main characters - willing them to win. The characters are well-developed - you love and hate them simultaneously, and the story is told so well that I have a perfect visual of the world in which they travel in my head, complete with sounds, smells, tastes, sights and all of the feels. total fiction made totally real, which to me, is the end-game for any writer worth their salt.
The only negative I have for this book/series is that after investing so much of my life on this series (i think, in total, its 12 books), you are left with one hell of a book hangover! It's worth it.
Thoroughly enjoyed this follow on adventure! The characters well established from their first series. Not too much repeating of their back stories & history which can annoyingly take up space in follow on adventures. Best book so far, in my opinion. Characters had more meat to them & unpredictable outcomes in the storylines. Looking forward to continuing the story! Could have done with a thorough proof read but much better than previous books in TC Edges' other series. Obvious spelling & grammatical errors can be so irritating & detract from one being immersed into an adventure! Also, how are their vehicles powered? How do they not run out of fuel! Did I miss something? Small point but....!? Great read all in all!
Let me just start by saying that if you have read and enjoyed any of this authors books previously then you will LOVE this one! It most certainly does not disappoint!
This book contains characters from The Enhanced series as well as from The Warrior Race and sends Kira and Brie on the adventure of a lifetime! The twists and turns in this book kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end!! I have read both the Enhanced series as well as The Warrior Race and this book is by far my favorite. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this storyline.
This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review, however, I am a huge fan of T.C. Edge and would’ve purchased it regardless.
The development of characters in this 13 book series was amazing. There was a lot of death and destruction, something I’m not usually drawn to. I just couldn’t put the books down. The author did an extraordinary job of giving you characters who were brave by necessity while seeing their fear and doubt in themselves as most of us do on a daily basis. How they overcame those fears and doubts and allowed them to defeat evil, build lasting bonds, and learn to love. The whole Enhanced series has become one of my favorites. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys getting lost in an adventure.
This was an entertaining read. The two main characters were women with powers who go on a journey together. They encounter situations that required them to use their powers. The only thing that did not jive was that Brie was always sneaking into people's heads to read their minds because she couldn't help herself except for the one time when she refused. That was the one time when it would have benefited her to do so. This was not developed well in the book. I did like this book better than some of the earlier books because there was not so much war and fighting.
Another great adventure in the Enhanced Universe, where two strong female warriors battle against evil.
It introduces the Prime, the spin-off series which I have read (except the last in the series that I am saving until I have finished those in this one).
It is fast-paced, a good writing style, despite the typos, with a wonderful sense of place.
The characters are intriguing - I do like powerful female leads - and believable.
Both girls seek adventure, but find an evil greater than they've previously faced !
Spoiler alert ! They set out to take Gwyn home, but find out there's a new and frightening evil group of enhanced people called the Olympians, who all have powers, and seek to eliminate normal humans completely !!! Brie and Kira go through a very dangerous ordeal in the north, and fear that war may soon come again to New Haven. Fast and action packed read !! A really good spinoff to the
This book was pretty good. Lots of action, and definitely keeps your attention. The character development is well done, as usual. I liked Brie and Kira together. Still a bit heavy on the introspection. Some things in this book eased my heart a bit from Nemesis. Wouldn’t mind more from this story line. I may, eventually, read the spin-offs. This one was a good read.
I found the first books in the series fairly entertaining. This one, I gave up about 1/3 of the way through. It was just boring and slow moving. Too little story and too much of Brie’s inner, repetitive, who-cares thoughts. And the typos and grammatical errors were just distracting at times. I got to the point I just didn’t care what happened.
This was actually a very interesting beginning to a universe meld. It is not a stand alone and should be read in order. My biggest complaint is the use of "a feeling of overwhelm." It pulled me out of the story and made me cringe. It is a verb or adjective, not a noun. I know it is a silly comment, but it really jumped out at me.
I was so happy to read this story about my two favorite Enhanced characters, Brie and Kira. The adventures these two went on were amazing. I loved the ending. One of the main things I really wanted to happen for Kira, happened in this book. I’m looking forward to see were the next book takes us.
I love the combination of the two related series! It’s great to be able to follow the characters you become so invested in , even after the conclusion of their own series. These are two great characters that I look forward to reading more about.
This series has been amazing to read. It's pretty long. 20 books in total. I've read all but the second to Kira and bries adventures and the chosen (prime) series. I'm excited to continue these but I may need a break lol
I was sosoo excited about this book and it was awesome!! I definitely want more Brie and Kira and Dom.. Please start a new series with all of them PLEASE 🤗
Excellent!!!! I can't emphasize enough the skill this author has is writing believable dramatic acenes... deaths, battles, escapes. Each detail woven perfectly!
All of the Enhanced series I've read so far have been can't put down stories, I look forward to the other stories in the series, the two main charicters now Brie and Kiri are brilliant.
Wow! This was occasionally bleak, very interesting and intriguing too. Both Brie and Kira are amazing kick-ass characters. I loved how Dim was waiting at the end, awesome!
