Terrifying and Shocking! 4.5★'s

Diane was curled into a ball beside her father’s desk in the downstairs office.
Her teeth chattered as she reached up to the desk and snatched the handset off the stand. With trembling fingers, she dialled 999. She’d never been so petrified in her life.
“Emergency. Which service?”
“Help me, please,” she whispered into the handset. A sound on the landing above her head made her whimper involuntarily, and she clamped her free hand over her mouth.
“Which service do you require, miss?”
“I don’t know. Somebody has hurt my parents, and he’s coming for me—please help.”
“Help is on its way. Can you confirm your address for me, please?”
The stairs creaked one at a time, and her heart hammered in her chest.
“Are you there, miss?”
“Yes, yes. I’m still here, but he’s coming. Please hurry.” Diane ended the call and scrambled further under the desk, hardly breathing.
The door handle rattled before the door burst inwards with a wood-splitting crack.
She closed her eyes tight, not wanting to see the monster who had so savagely attacked her parents. She tried not to breathe, but she could hear her own rasping breath and knew he would too.
Another ear-splitting sound assaulted her ears, accompanied by the wail of approaching sirens.

My Sister's Daughter by Netta Newbound is a terrifying thriller with a shockingly twisted conclusion that I absolutely didn't see coming!
I really liked the characters in this book and I grew fond of them quickly. I was sad to come to the end of the story. This is my second novel by this author and I'm wondering to myself why I don't have more of her books on my shelves already. I'll be fixing that up in a jiffy!

MY SISTER’S DAUGHTER is an emotional psychological thriller by author Netta Newbound. This book kept me hooked from start to finish and will appeal to a wide range of readers.

Susanna Carmichael, a recent widow, trying to put her life back together, returns from Spain to England to find that her sister and brother in law have been brutally murdered. They leave behind the sole survivor-their 15- year old daughter Diane, a witness who had managed to escape from the killer. Susanna takes on the responsibility of looking after her niece, after she is released from the hospital… but it soon becomes apparent that the murderer won’t leave them alone. Is someone targeting her sister’s daughter?

The police deem the incident to be a botched burglary…but Susanna thinks otherwise.

So now sit back and study the list of suspects and follow the clues…and see if you can figure it out!.

Susanna must discover who murdered her family…and not an easy job to do!

My Sister’s Daughter is a fast paced, emotional, nail-biting, psychological thriller, with an ending I didn’t see coming. Brilliant writing that kept me guessing until the end!

Susanna Carmichael, while recovering from her husband's death, receives notice that her sister and brother-in-law have been viciously murdered, leaving their teenage daughter as a survivor and witness.

While Susanna had not been close to her sister for several years, she takes on the responsibility of raising her niece, Diane. Diane seems a little cold at first but quickly attaches herself to Susanne,

The police think that someone broke in to rob her parents, but thinks turned deadly. But Susanna thinks there is much more involved ... someone is targeting her niece.

There are several suspects who might have wanted Diane's parents dead. Her uncle who was in business with her father ... who had a huge fight just days before the crime. Diane's boyfriend, who no one liked .... even Susanna herself is a suspect until she can prove where she was the night of the murder .... Susanna's new found boyfriend who may have his own agenda. Plenty to pick from as you follow the clues.

There are plenty of twists and turns along the way. As more bodies fall, it is apparent that robbery was never the reason for the brutal murders.

Many thanks to the author who provided a digital copy of the gripping, intense thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

WOW!!! Let me catch my breath...What an entertaining ride with more twists and turns than a rollercoaster! A deep psychological thriller that seems so lovely at first, a woman's niece is left alone when her Mom and Dad are murdered. Susanna has just arrived back from her villa in Spain, following the unexpected death of her husband. When she is made aware of her sister's death she heads to their home, worrying about Diane, her niece , who is a teenager by now.
There are several suspects, as Susanna becomes closer to Diane she tries to figure out what happened. She meets her brother-in-laws brother , who seems just as annoying as he was! As more bodies appear, Susanna takes Diane to Spain to recharge.
We follow the clues and think we know the killer, but I was shocked when all is revealed!
A great story for any lover of thrillers, with great characters and interesting events throughout the book. I received an ARC from the author, who I thank for a marvelous adventure and I am able to give my honest thought in this review.

My sister's daughter by Netta Newbound.
An absolutely fantastic read.
Susanne Carmichael is in Spain after a personal Tragedy. She has been there for three months. She realises the date and rushes back to Manchester. When she gets there there is a knock at her door. Two Police officers are there.  Her sister and brother in law has been murdered. Her niece is the only Survivor. Who done it and why?
I loved the story and the characters apart from the killer.  I loved Susie and Diane.  I wasn't sure about Robert the way he kept blowing hot and cold. I was at a loss as to who the killer was. Omg what a thriller of a read.  A twister of a story. I never saw that coming at all. This is a must read and I would highly recommend this book.  5*. Would give more if I could. Highly recommended.

OMW, I could not put this book down. I had read so many excellent reviews about My Sister’s daughter and now I know why.
A fantastic thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish.
While still grieving the death of her own husband at her villa in Spain, Susanna Carmichael receives the devastating news of her sister and brother-in-law’s murder and rushes back to England to be with her 15 year old niece Diane whom she has not seen for several years.
While there were several suspects and I kept changing my mind as to who the killer was, I could never have imagined the ending with its whopper of a twister.
My Sister’s Daughter had all that keeps me turning the pages without wanting to put it down. Fantastic characters and storyline and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Also known as a "niece." A Kindle Unlimited freebie, and hardly a bargain even at that price, but it was, in its way, educational: I now know that not all British novelists can write great psychological thrillers; and if anyone wonders what would happen if a travel writer tried to pen a murder mystery, well, now we know.

~ MY REVIEW~

WOW , just WOW !
Expect the unexpected in this heart-pounding amazing very well written story. I loved it so much that i honestly never wanted it to end. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. The plot is suspenseful and thrilling at all times with one twist and turn after another. It really is a roller coaster of a ride. All of the characters were very well developed, and done in such a way you really care about most of them. The ending totally blew my mind . It starts with a tragedy ,then there is another tragedy , then another sad and shocking tragedy.

This is my first time reading a book by this author. I liked the author’s writing style. The story is well written and easy to follow. I was able to easily picture the events as they happened. I found the story gripping, even as it took an unexpected turn.

If you are looking for a fast paced, nail-biting, psychological thriller, with an ending you won't see coming then this book is for you. I highly recommend this page turning Thriller!

As always if you like the book you read please take the time to leave a review for the author in places like goodreads & Amazon. It does not have to be long. Just a few sentences saying you liked the book will do. Authors really appreciate every review they get !

"You think this is cruel and heartless? You ain't seen nothing yet."

Wow! What an amazing thriller!! So many times during this book I kept thinking I knew who the killer was, then I was thrown in to doubting myself, time and time again!! Brilliant writing kept me guessing until the end!! Little indicators would lead me toward one character, then another, then yet another. Loved it!!

Susanna Carmichael has been through hell. Recently widowed and left confused as to what lead to her husband's death, she takes refuge in their villa in Spain. But, she can't stay forever. She needs to go home, only when she does, she is faced with even more tragedy - the murder of her sister and brother-in-law. The only surviving member of her family now is her niece, Diane. The police think it was a bungled robbery. But, the odd behavior of Diane's Uncle Robert, shady business dealings uncovered, and Diane adamant that the killer has his sights set on coming back for her, make Susanna think there's more to this than they first believed.

Is Diane the target after all? Can Susanna keep her safe when they don't know who lurks in the shadows? Will Detective Conrad Jenkins be able to piece this all together in time to save them all?

I love a great thriller! Love the twist and turns, the subtle clues that lead you in one direction, only to have the author lead you in another, then another, until the ending absolutely floors you! This book is all of that and more!! I would highly recommend it !!

Wow, brilliant

What a twist and turn book and another knock out one from Netta Newbold. I had a pretty good idea who it was very early on, how and the why fors was not clear this was after chapter 4 then I changed tact it started to become more obvious who it was, up to 80/% of the book I felt pretty sure it was my second suspect, until something happened that clearly proved it was not that person, know I genuinely didn’t have a clue, it’s absolutely fantastic style of writing that can lead you one way to another and such a gripping book. You just can not put the book down. Netta Newbold certainly writes books that keep twisting and turning taking you on a journey of one you totally get lost in. It’s a absolutely fantastic book one not to be missed at all definitely recommend you read this book and if you have never read any of her books before I guarantee you will be hooked and want to read them all, a must read

We start this story with Susanna Carmichael, who is at her home in Spain. She receives some bad news, about her sister and brother-in-law, being found murdered. She’s on the first flight home to UK.

When she arrives home, she meets with the officer leading the case. He informs Susanna, that her niece is in hospital.

Susanna rushes to see her niece and realises, she doesn’t really know the teenager, Diane. It’s now time to start being a mother figure to this poor girl, who has had a terrible shock. She is the only witness to this murder.

There are several potential suspects along the way, and it’s not long before we start wondering if it was him, or if it was her, who did this crime.

Loved this story, from start to finish. I was absolutely shocked with the dramatic ending!

Fantastic book by Netta Newbound. I am now following this author. Yes I recommend!

Wow this was another thrilling book by Netta Newbound. I like this author’s style of writing and find it flows well and keeps me interested from start to finish.

Susan Carmichael, recently widowed, returns from Spain to the shocking news that her sister and brother-in-law have been murdered leaving their 15-year-old daughter, Diane, an orphan. Reeling from the shock she puts her own feelings aside to take care of her niece whom she hasn’t seen for several years as the family had grown apart.

There are some heartwarming moments between Susan and Diane as they reconnect. The nice moments are interspersed with many dark issues as the killer is hunted. It is a page-turner and I struggled to work out from the many suspects who was the murderer. You must read this - A massive 5*.

I read My Sister's daughter in two days, which always deserves 4 stars as it was really gripping. About half way through I though I kind of knew the twist, but I was only half correct :-) So still an element of surprise up until the end.
However I did struggle a little with the description of the emotions of both, the daughter and the aunt. They were either completely devastate which was to be expected, or they went to the movies and treated themselves to a pampering. That I found a little unrelatable and unbelievable and it kept irritating me. But other than that I would totally recommend it!!

"My Sister's Daughter" is the second book I've read by Netta Newbound. She has excelled herself again by writing a gripping and exciting psychological thriller. I had my thoughts on who the bad guy was, changed my mind a few times and then was shocked when I finally realised who was causing all the grief and havoc all along!
Netta writes with an easy flow of words, there's no confusion over characters and their contribution to the story.
This book comes highly recommended by me, I really enjoyed the short snappy chapters which urged me to keep going until the exciting climax.

I think I am still in shock with this book. I never saw the end coming. It starts with a tragedy. Diane and Susanne try to find a way to move onward and forward, but more events occur that cause them to take off to Spain. I wish I could say that was the end and they live happily ever after, but that is not the case. I have to say I never figured out who was behind all the tragedy. I was completely enthralled with this story and would recommend to any Thriller - Mystery reader. Fabulous book.

Wow, Netta Newbound does it again. A fast paced, unputdownable book - hence I read it in a day to the exclusion of nearly everything else!

Susanna is living in Spain after the death of her husband. She is traveling back to the UK when she hears that her sister and brother in law have been brutally murdered, and her niece is now orphaned and in a state of shock. The Police are looking for the murderer without much to go on. Her sister’s request in her will, is that she look after her niece. Can she do that and keep her safe?

Netta did it again! She grabbed me from the very beginning of this wonderful mastered tale of a family scared by death and different lives. Netta tells just enough that one thinks they know who the killer is, just to drown your theory and make you suspect someone else. As with all her other books, I could not put this book down. How many people need to die before they find the real killer? Netta is a mater at the who done it stories woven together with a great background of the characters, leaving one on the edge of their seats.

Waiting for your next book Netta, get busy!

Recently widowed Susanna is living in Spain when she receives the awful news that her sister and brother-in-law have been murdered in their home in Carlisle.Susanna dashes back to England where her 15 year old niece, Diane,is alone and traumatised in hospital.
Who is the murderer and what was their motive? And why are they still interested in Diane? Will a return to Spain for Susanna and Diane finally shake off the killer? These questions keep the reader guessing until the final shocking twist.
This was a heart-stopping, chilling read and I almost fathomed out the identity of the killer

Very sad to give this only 2/5 as I am an avid fan of Netta's. Very disappointing book. Very little happened between the initial event and the ending. Some chapters in italics to denote the responsible persons thoughts, but the description of that persons particular differences didn't even fit with the person who turned out to be the one responsible. An empty story with a "Behind the Eyes" type ending.

I love Netta Newbound's books. I am always gripped from the outset and read them over a couple of days. I really enjoyed this one, due to the usual excellent writing and plot. However, I did figure out the killer early on in the book. Nevertheless, this didn't spoil my enjoyment of the book as a whole as there are twists and turns aplenty! A very good book, recommended to all lovers of psychological thrillers.

This is the first book by Netta Newbound I have read but it won’t be the last.
I really enjoyed this psychological thriller, that kept me on my toes with all the twists and turns in the plot, I found the characters quite likeable and true to life, though Diane’s situation was so sad and the book was fast paced and compelling, with a solid storyline.
Will definitely read more by this author.

My sisters daughter

Wow what a book kept me gripped from page one as have all the books I have read by this author,
Susanne’s sister has been murdered leaving her niece a orphan stepping up to be the parent she needs puts all of them in danger so fleeing to Spain to live in the villa feels like the best thing to do but it has devastating consequences for them all.
