In a big house on the edge of town live Mrs. Brown and all of her cats. All day long they lie around and nap while Mrs. Brown does her chores. But as soon as Mrs. Brown pets each cat on the head and goes upstairs to bed...it's party time!

That's just too many cats; too many colourful cats and this seems like a....mess of too many cats ☺️ no, I cannot live like that. But yes, she sure is a lovely lady with all the cats!
Another birthday present for Katie. The pictures are really pretty watercolors and really pretty funny too. Actually they're super funny pictures the more you look at them. It defines a real cat lady from just a lady with cats since she doesn't get mad when they make a huge mess.
I'm giving this two stars with a caution. This is a happy, happy poem-story about a cat hoarder. I don't care how big your house is -- you have 60 cats and you're not a shelter, you're a hoarder. There is no way one old lady can successfully care for herself, her house and even her willow tree when she has 60 cats.
But this is a fantasy book. Well, it's meant to be. These cats knit and cook, so this is a damn fantasy. They're also all in perfect condition and often seen flying through the air for some reason ("I fling her"), so again -- must be a fantasy.
The art, which looks like it was all done in watercolors, is very detailed and utterly charming. For example, one cat pokes his or her head under Mrs. Brown's skirts. The artist, Erika Oller, is allergic to cats ... which may be why she thinks cats fly.
So, in conclusion -- a happy book with interesting art, but please don't try to live with 60 cats in one house.
A fun book with nice watercolor illustrations, it tells the story of Mrs. Brown who is most assuredly a stereotypical "cat lady!" Even when her cats are super naughty, she just loves them. Rhyming text make this a decent choice for story time, but it's small size makes it a little hard. I'll use it if I can't find anything I like better.
Putting the FUN back into cat hoarding! Fun rhymes, cute lady, cute cats... but 60 cats in one house is an animal welfare nightmare. These are solitary apex predators, not pack animals... anyhoo, if you don't take it so seriously, kind of cute for a cat-obsessed kid. Free to borrow from OpenLibrary. :)
My dream self would be Mrs. Brown, but I can’t imagine having 120 litter boxes in my home nor suffering the repercussions of allowing my cats to eat seven-tier cakes and drink chocolate milkshakes. Lol
This is a humorous, rhyming tale about a lady who owns a lot of cats. As I began logging it here on Goodreads, I discovered that Lesléa Newman had also written Dogs, Dogs, Dogs! and Pigs, Pigs, Pigs!, so I thought we'd borrow them from the library as well.
The story is entertaining and fun to read aloud and we loved the antics of the cats. The cat lady is funny, but unfortunately we know a few people who ended up with far too many pets than they can handle, which makes this story a bit sad to me. The illustrations are colorful and cartoonish and we enjoyed reading this book together.
This picture book offers rhymes that flow to virtual perfection, and a fun story about a woman and her "family" of cats that should be fun for many readers. The most humorous scene, in my view, is when the woman sweeps up all the cats with her dustpan.
A cute little story about an old woman name Mrs. Brown, who has a house full of cats, and how she copes with a houseful of them. Pretty cute book for kids. love the illustration the best
My 3-year old really liked this one. Not only does the old lady have lots and lots of cats, but she cherishes them them all and is amused by thier crazy night-life.
A crazy cat woman is glorified in this pretty rhyming book. The water color illustrations are very nice. Humour and warmth make this a nice choice for the very young.
