Ruby is my new fave 🖤 and Hokuto is such a great character - am sure you will be able to predict where things are going with him pretty much straight away 😛 the only part of the series for me that is getting abit tedious is how every female character is obsessed with Tsukune. It makes sense for Moka to be because she a literally drinks his blood and he can take off her Rosario to help her transform into her vampire form. I hope there is some actual reason explained as to why every damn monster girl seems to be under a Tsukune love spell, but am doubtful lol
I’m still going to carry on with this series and possibly season 2 aswell because I do enjoy the different monsters!

It honestly blows my mind that this series hasn't gotten more hype! This series is super fun and full of action that it seems wild to me that people aren't engaged and loving it. So many more people need to pick up this goofy romp! I adore it.

This isn't my favourite of all of the volumes so far but it's still action packed and fast paced. More characters are getting involved and making this series way more interesting. I'm glad Ruby is back and I'm glad everyone gets to get into the action now.

Sure, some of the comments are immature but that's what makes it fun. This is a great pre-teen/YA manga romp!

Three out of five stars.

This is a short-ish review for the last 3 volumes in the first season of this series (volume 8-10).

These 3 volumes are mostly about one thing, the festival. Volume 8, and half of Volume 9 are about the pre-festival stuff, but also some revelations about mongrels, about one of the most important players in the pre-festival stuff, Hokuto. Plus some more information about Kiriya. And of course lots of exciting battles!
The second half of volume 9 is about the festival, in which we meet a few parents of our characters, but also a childhood friend of Tsukune (I so didn't like her, and wasn't looking forward to seeing her). Then of course poop hits the fan, and that sets the mood for the 10th volume. But the 10th volume also brought a visit home, chaos as the girls also visit Tsukune (poor mom), and the start of a new year at the academy!

As you can see there is a lot that is going on in these 3 last volumes, I definitely wasn't bored once. Every time you thought you could breathe something would happen and you would either gasp in shock or laugh so hard that you can't breathe. Poor Tsukune though, thinking he would be having a nice calm festival time, but instead is getting roped in by both Kurumu and Mizore. :P Not to mention that his childhood friend also pops by.

I am not sure which part in these volumes I found the best. I loved that the action and the comedy did a real tag-team effort. It was all a pretty smooth transition between the two genres. Of course one wonders if there is ever a calm day for our group, since it seems that they can never really rest.

I am getting a bit tired of so many people targeting Moka, and even going so far as to (almost) assault her..... It is just getting a bit disturbing that this behaviour is apparently normal under the monster males. Oh, we want x girl, just grab her when she is alone, and pull off her clothes. No, just no.

Hokuto and what he was? Of course I already knew, not my first time reading it, but it was still a good revelation, though I did feel so sad for Tsukune. If only this was another time, if only he had met Hokuto before x happened. :(

I still love the theme of monsters and humans living in peace, and how hard Tsukune wishes this would become reality and not just a dream.

I also would like to see Tsukune man up and just tell the other girls that Moka is the only one for him. After such a long time they do deserve an answer.

All in all, this was a terrific first season, and I enjoyed it a lot, I am so glad that I decided to re-read it. I would highly recommend this manga. It has some fanservice (underwear shots, boob grabs), but it never really interferes with the story at hand. I also love how the art has been changing, and how it will keep on changing as the series progresses in season two.

This manga is doing a good job of keeping me reading so I think it's pretty good. I'm hoping it doesn't drag on forever because it seems that it might, but otherwise it's a cute story.

So I took volume 8 as casually and as lightly as I could because I was really wary of dedicating an intense amount of time to a series I felt was quickly slipping into madness. I really hated the last volume so I wanted to keep as chill an experience as I could muster for this one, and be less eager, in hopes for less disapointment.

I enjoyed this much better than the last volume however I still had major issues. For a start, it was so obvious who the ''moles'' in the committee were. This was most likely due to really poor character development, so the suspects were incredibly transparent and it was easy to suss out their motives from the get go.

Secondly, a lot of the action pages felt like badly acted movie scenes. I think the anime can pull of the cringe better, from what I remember, so after I eventually finish this series, I think I'll remind myself of happier times by going back and starting the anime again... Let's hope I don't suffer the same disappointment the manga has quickly been getting from me.

Thirdly, I was completely baffled by the fact that everyone was given the time for their dramatic side conversation in the middle of a bloody fight! It's so stupid when books do this, and just makes me think if this was real (which I know, I know, it's just a work of fiction, yada, yada) they'd be dead in a heartbeat. This is a custom that happens many a time in this series, but it is only now really grating on my sanity.

Even though this is an incredibly predictable story line, (one of which is getting very boring now) one of the scenes was shocking, but I think it's because it was so sudden and extreme and really uncalled for.

The only character I'm really liking these days is Ruby and that's probably because she's not in it enough to constantly gush over Tsukune and act stupid all of the time. Everyone else seems to be an air head that gets captured and cries way too often, yet always manages to save the day, in some incomprehensible way.

So why did this not get any lower than a 3 stars, you're probably wondering? Well, honestly, the story picked up right at the end, so that's why it gets a slightly higher rating. And I generally did enjoy this one a fair bit more than the last volume, which may not sound like it from the negatives I've already discussed. But hey ho, here we have it.

Pick it up, give it a go and enjoy! ^^

Review of the first manga series 1-10:

This manga is not terrible, let’s just say that. But it has a lot of problems.

The art is beautiful and I think the art itself is where the author’s talent lies most heavily, not plotting. The plots of each volume…pretty laughable to even try to identify them with the idea of ‘plot.’ The situations are so see through you know well before anything goes down just how it all will end.

Fan service is always appalling when it happens upon a page, though expected, but some of the scenes are too ridiculous and insulting to bear.

One of the biggest things that turns me off when reading is how unfoundedly every female creature flocks at the main character. It’s stupid, unrealistic and makes the volumes hard to get through. Tsukune has his modesty, his kindness and his loyalty going for him, but the ladies don’t recognize those attributes and use them as a basis for their undying love for him. The love is just thrown in there to make him look like a big shot, a young boy acting as a damsel in distress, needing savior from the girls around him.

I think what keeps me reading these books (despite having bought them all for really cheap and used) is the incorporation of different monsters and what possible ridiculous motives they might have. That, along with the arc of the Rosario and the tensions and connections it creates between Moka and Tsukune.
In the end, I’m still going to read into the “second season” to see if it will get any better.

Ruby!!! I love her outfit!! It was awesome seeing it in color on the cover!!

The manga-ka wrote this in the beginning of the volume: I started these "Tales of the Monstrels" as a sort of venture into the dark side. Writing them was a lot of fun. What's that...? N-not enough hotness...? There'll definitely be some in the next volume! (laugh)

Um... not enough hotness...how about the FIRST (and only) hotness with Hokuto Kaneshiro showing up! Um...yeah!

Look at him!!

Hokuto photo hokuto_zps5d7ec388.jpg

This was my favorite shot of him from the whole volume. Sexy!!

Force to attend the school festival council by the principal,Tuskune finally works with someone who is all that creepy,Hokuto Kaneshiro. But when word gets out about a monstrel attending as a student in the council Tsukune becomes more endangered to be threaten by one of the student. And what about Hokuto, who wants to rid the school of a monsterl group called the anti-schooler. Is he someone that Tsukune counts on as a friend and a leader or something darker than that. Looks can be deceiving in this 8th vol..

We finally discover the sinister reason Tuksune was assigned to be a part of the student council...... and it is just as nasty as I thought it would be. Hell Lords???!!?? Who thought it was a good idea to let such a power student as the Student Council President into the school in the first place? Let alone give him the power of "President"? But Maya really stepped-up and I cannot wait to read about her showdown with the President!

Ok, loving how much Tsukune and Moka are growing as characters and the fight is so far pretty good as it allows all of the main characters to grow. And it does what a final battle should do and that is give everyone in the battle a moment of glory to show how much they are growing. Also is it just me or does Hokuto look like Aizen from bleach before he removed is glasses. Also in helping with this comparison is that both of them deceived others by acting like a heroic figure.

Another dark installment - Tsukune thinks he's found someone to respect and admire in student president Hokuto but his true colours turn out to be something quite different. Loving this darker turn to the series - Maintaining great artwork and characters that got me hooked, but now developping some real substance.

Why are all the bad guys rapists. I mean...ALL of them. It's kind of a crappy school. Monsters are kind of jerks. Out of all the students at the school, only Yukune & his friends are somewhat decent. So weird.

On the very first page of the volume, Akihisa Ikeda says:

Back when I was a kid, I loved to read detective novels: Holmes, Lupin, Kindaichi, Nijyumenso and the like... I'd devour those books, losing all track of time. As I wrote this volume with bad guys running all over the place, it reminded me of how I felt back then.

Fair enough! It's a fun volume. As far as losing track of time and having bad guys run around, I understand why the author felt that way. But those books he mentions have longer setups so the payoff's higher, while Rosario+Vampire tends to have add new enemies now and throw them into battle against our heroes five minutes later. It feels rushed.

Holy s***!

Tsukune gets asked to to the student council to find out who is the spy for the Anti-Schoolers.

It becomes obvious who it is. I will admit it is really clever how they planned it all out. Even wanting to be in the same room as the Headmaster to steal his barrier key. With it, they can break the barrier surrounding the school in which they will be mass chaos.

Moka is kidnapped and is able to see what is going on. Tsukune keeps getting back up. She tries to break the Rosario herself so that she can help. The volume ends with Inner Moka walking away after defeating Kiria, who wanted to see the vampiric powers for himself.
