He argues that most people assume the world is worse off today than it was in the past, and that this is patently false. Using decades, and sometimes centuries, of data, he systematically counters many common notions held today--that the world is more violent, that more people live in poverty, and that population growth is not truly exponential--to name a few. Two of my friends recommended Factfulness to me. What a fresh and fascinating perspective on the current state of our world and the people it. I certainly became aware of how warped some of my assumptions are and why they are that way. The carefully selected questions posed at the beginning of the book clearly reveal some of the false and negative assumptions we make. Now I want to read the book.
I read the entire book. And now the summary. The summary is good but doesn’t convince. The book convinces. Read the book and skim it. That way you’ll get more examples.
