A second-chance romance as scorching hot as a baseball diamond in August.
Slater "Savage" Harlow
Winning the MVP award for the Birmingham Bandits last year was the highlight of my baseball career. It was the culmination of childhood dreams, calculated adult decisions, sacrifice, and a hell of a lot of focus. Tearing my ACL in spring training? Not what I expected at all.
Now I'm home, in small town Georgia, rehabbing in the comfort of my own home, with people I know. I'm connecting with friends I haven't had time to talk to in years, spending days at home with my parents, and getting to watch my little brother play minor league baseball.
What I don't expect is to see Malone Fulcher walking into Del's Diner one morning while having my coffee and egg whites.
She's the old flame, the one who got away, and the woman I compare all others to.
Malone Fulcher
Spending the summer in my hometown wasn't what I had planned, but it's what I need. Recovering from a hard year, both personally and professionally, I need to reconnect with who I am. When my mom encouraged me to come home and do some soul searching, I can't say no.
Memories are all over this small town, from the Baptist Church to the east field on my parents farm, to the diner. On my second day in town, I decide to go in, memories be damned.
I lost my breath as soon as I saw "Savage" Harlow sitting alone at a booth. Our eyes lock, my heart flutters, and my hands shake - all the same way they did back in high school. But back then we couldn't make it work. Going our separate ways to differing colleges, we decided we weren't meant to be.
A decade later, as soon as our eyes meet, I'm wondering if we were right, because those green eyes of his do nothing but take me to a past that I can see being my future.
Author's Note: This does end in somewhat of a cliffhanger!
I’m always eager to dive into a Laramie Briscoe book – almost every release from the author has left me curious – and On the DL was no different. It had me curious about the MVP duet, and I was happy to dive in.
I’m going to be honest and say I wasn’t crazy about this one. It was an easy read that had me devouring it in no time at all, but I did not experience the intense emotions I have felt when reading other Laramie Briscoe reads. In fact, it took a while before I was invested in this one.
On the DL is certainly an interesting story, one that has you curious to see how the romance plays out, but it never hooked me in the way I had hoped. I wanted to be sucked deep into the story, instead I feel the story gave lots of moments instead of being pulling me in so deep I forgot about the world around me.
I’m certainly curious as to how the MVP duet ends, but I’m not as crazy about this one as I have been about other Laramie Briscoe books.
On the DL is the start to a new duet by Laramie Briscoe with all the feels! A second chance romance that was sweet and charming. Two people who were always meant to be together, but life got in their way. Now they are both back home and wondering if this is their second chance?
Another great read by Laramie Briscoe that does end in a bit of a cliffy, but the second book is not too far off!
Laramie Briscoe has got a way with her words when it comes to a contemporary romance novel. She slays every single time with her journeys and makes my heart flutter with her swoony characters. I'll be honest, the Moonshine Taskforce series is what really won me over with her. (highly recommend y'all!!) but this new duet? Absolutely brilliant and I just can't get enough of Malone and Slater.
On the DL is the first of two books in the MVP duet, dropping two characters you won't soon forget- thank goodness there's two books (cliffy warning!!) with one love story you won't want to end.
He's home rehabbing an injury. She's home trying to find herself after a tough year. You know the one that got away? The one you had dreams with in high school only to have it all ripped away? Well that was them. And yet the moment they see each other again, they know it's going to be life changing. And as they reconnect... old and new feelings emerge. But life's complicated now... but maybe, just maybe this time it's worth giving their everything?
All of the feels and a ton heart and heart and splashes of angst, I loved every moment these two gave me.. and gosh I can't wait to dive in to the next book to see how everything works out between them.
Grab this now if you don't like cliffys and wait for the next.. because Malone and Slater have wayyyy more story to tell and a whole lot more heat to throw our way.
On the DL is the start to a new duet by Laramie Briscoe with complete and total FEELS!!!! Slater "Savage" Harlow: Winning the MVP award from the Birmingham Bandits last year was the highlight of his baseball career It was the fruition of his childhood dreams, calculated adult decisions, sacrifice, and his masterful focus. But tearing his ACL in spring training? Not what Slater expected at all. Now he is home in his small tow Georgia, rehabbing in the comfort of his own home with people he is familiar with and very soon after arriving home, he locks eyes with Harlow—his First love, college sweetheart. Things didn’t go so great for them 10 years before when Harlow chose her own dreams over Slater’s and they broke up and went their own separate ways. Now they are back in town at the same time. Malone is home because she lost her job and does not know what she wants her future to be. They are not the same people they were in college for they have grown from when they were teenagers. Now the spark and chemistry is still there . Slade and Malone love each other so much and they want to be together. Can they move past the past ? Will Malone speak up so there's no repeating the past? OMG This is a beautiful 2nd chance at love romance read and how these two have that 2nd chance that most do not get. The book has many twists and turns and ends on a cliffhanger. I enjoyed this new series and cannot wait to read book 2.
My Rating: 4.7 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
Title: On the DL Author: Laramie Briscoe Genre: Contemporary Romance Series or Standalone: Series (MVP Duet #1) Rating: ★★★★★
We meet Slater Harlow (Savage) toward the end of the Moonshine Task Force series, and right away, given his interaction with his college roommates sister, I knew I wanted to read more about him. Needed to know more about him.
What I’ve come to love about this author is that she thinks like a reader when she’s writing, so what I wanted, what I’m sure a lot of people reading the prior series wanted, she delivered on.
Welcome to the love me some Savage and need more of him STAT brigade.
Given that this is also a second chance romance, stories that I usually love but that can easily be hit or miss for me given how the relationship is handled, I wasn’t sure this would live up to the hype I myself gave it when I ended the previous series.
It did.
For Slater, anyway.
Now, before people lynch me, I think the entire point of the beginning stages of this first book was to be pissed at her and come out believing that Slater smelled like roses. Yes, they were young and honestly given what they both acknowledge when they come back into each other’s lives years later, it most likely wouldn’t have worked, but man, I would have loved to see it work. I’m secretly a sucker for high school sweethearts too lol And Slater is tops for me.
Needless to say, Malone had a lot to overcome with me, right up until the end, but she did it. I also think the way at which their second coming was handled, slow and with care, also played a huge part in that. Did both of them mess up along the way at some point, sure. Old habits die hard apparently, but it all seemed very natural.
I’m looking forward to seeing where this couple goes, especially with the ending of this story, but I’ve got no doubt that the author will deliver it masterfully. Looking forward to more equally swoon worthy moments, along with some steam, and also some growth and emotional pull out of these characters to come. It wouldn’t be a book by this author without those things.
I've said it before so Ill say it again. I am the biggest sucker when it comes to second chance romances stories, they are my weakness, with that being said I absolutely loved this one. I love Slater and Malone both as individual's and together as a couple. It is obvious they belong together and everyone believes that as well. The two are destined to be together and you can't help but root for them from the get go. I don't want to give to much away but in the beginning of this book Slade and Malone are headed off to college, and newly engaged when Malone gets news that changes everything. Does she follow her dreams or Slades? She chooses to follow her dreams and the pair go their separate ways, hearts are broken. I love how relatable this story is I think a lot of people have been put in similar situations before and can relate to the whole 'what if' scenario. This is one of the reasons why I love this book and others by Laramie, her characters are relatable. They feel like real people, like you know them and want to root for them in real life. One of the other things I really enjoyed was how engrossed in the characters I was and the decisions they made. There were moments in the story where I cringed and wanted to yell at the couple and slap them upside the head. I wanted to yell out "What are you doing? What are you saying? WHY!?" It are those type of moments that make me really enjoy books, when I can get into them and feel what the characters are feeling. That's what makes a book enjoyable for me, and this book did that for me. I am now so invested in these twos lives that it's killing me to have to wait for book two to come out. I'm ready for this couple to finally have their long over due happy ending. Laramie really hit a home run with this one and now I'm desperate for book two to come out. I cant wait. Loved, Loved, Loved this book.
I am such a sucker for a second-chance love. Add in a sexy baseball player and you have me hooked. Briscoe never fails to capture my heart and keep me enthralled to the very last page, and this one is no exception. I fell in love with Slater and Malone from the beginning. I loved watching them learn who the other has become after all those years. I couldn't get enough of them! Of course, being a duet, it ended in a bit of a cliffhanger, but don't worry the second isn't far away (I checked). Can't wait to get my hands on the next part of this amazing story!
We all have had that love that we think is forever , that is what Savage and Malone have , at least they thought they did , then she broke it off wanting to love a little and broke his heart in return. Now they are both back in their hometown he is recovering from and injury and she lost her job. The chemistry is still there and it might take a lot for the trust to get there again.
On the DL is the first book in Laramie Briscoe's new duet, The MVP Duet. It releases today and ends on a cliffhanger, but fortunately the second book, MVP, releases in just two weeks. I haven't seen a release done like this before, and I really like it. So often I read a book and then have to wait a year or longer to find out what happens next. When that happens I always forget some of the important details from the last book, and it takes a while before I get back in the rhythm of the book. I'm so grateful that I won't have that problem with this one.
High school sweethearts? Second chance romance? Professional sports romance? This book checks off so many of my favorite plots in romances that I think it was almost impossible for me not to swoon while reading it. And Slater was just so gosh darn sweet. I can't wait to see what happens next for Malone and Slater.
I received an advance reader copy of this book that I have chosen to review.
I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
On the DL is the first book in the MVP Duet from Laramie Briscoe. Since it is a duet that might give you a hint at what kind of ending you can expect from this book. However the second book is not far away so that make so that makes it much more bearable.

On the DL is a second chance romance. Back in high school Slater and Malone were a couple and he even asked her to be his wife and she said Yes!! His dream was to make it to the big league and give her the life she deserved. However Malone had a dream of her own and she hadn't told anyone about it. So, when a letter from the University of Georgia comes she accepts right away. However when she tells Slater about it he goes off the deep end. Rips the ring right off her finger and leave for Alabama without a backwards glance. Now ten years later these two are back in their hometown and the sparks are going to fly. I loved these two characters and I wanted them together so bad I couldn't stand it. This book is absolutely amazing and will have you not wanting to put it down at all. Then your gonna want the second book. I hope you give this book a chance. Second chance romances are some of my favorites, and On the DL is now one of my favorites.
Okay, where do I even start with this gorgeous story? Firstly, I have to say that Laramie really has outdone herself with Slade and Malone's story. I loved these two characters so much. They were relatable and more than loveable...even when they made me want to shake them up and make them realise where they were going wrong.
The first thing I have to say about this story is that it is sweet and touching. It is a story that most people will be able to empathise with, with its coming of age feel and angst. These are two young adults that are starting off in the big world and they have to make some tough decisions that at one point or another we've all had to make. I don't want to give too much away because the best way to go into this baby is blind and without expectations. I'd be lying if I said that this was a happy go lucky read, it is not. In true Laramie fashion it digs deep and sinks its claws into you until you feel like you are one with the story and he characters. A lot has to do with the plot, but it also is down to the brilliant writing. Really, Ms. Briscoe never disappoints.
I'd say that this is a bit of a coming of age/ college/ sports romance. And honestly, Laramie has done such a great job of encapsulating these characters that not only fit into those sub-genres, but they also have a way of fitting into your own personal experiences. I really loved Slade and Malone. I thought they were both pretty grounded characters, they both had their issues and I felt that taking their age and their point in life they were dealt with accordingly. I mean no college aged person is going to make adult decisions without tripping up. Saying that, it is a little infuriating at times...but that's all part of the charm of this read. It's also where the delicious angst comes from.
All in all, I loved On The DL. I have to say that I'm not a massive fan of cliffhangers, and the cliffy we were left with did sorta make me want to fall on my knees and beg Laramie to just put me out of my misery. BUT, it was done very well, and I just know that it is going to be SUPER worth it! Also, the wait isn't going to be too long, so....
We have been waiting for Savage’s story since we met him in Caleb's book and now we have the man behind the baseball uniform. The story introduces Savage and Malone when they are seniors in high school with their future planned out. What happens though when one of them doesn't want the future they been planning all along. When Malone sees another future she takes and chance and breaks Savage's heart in the process. Fast forward 10 years later, Malone and Savage are both back in their hometown trying to figure out what's next with their lives. Savage is rehabbing his injury and Malone was fired from her job, when they see one another for the first time it's a little awkward. Then they see that they have both grown up and decide to get to know one another as friends. Sometimes old feelings and sparks fly where it's hard to fight. They decide to give their relationship another try but can Malone and Savage make it work with his high powered career. Can they make it work this time or will old emotions and fears gey in the way.
I love the story line and it's a quick read. Malone was insecure, stubborn and she drowned herself in doubt the whole book. She didn't know what she wanted at all. I'm like make a decision already and stop hanging on to fear. Savage was all man, sweet, and knew what he wanted. He just didn’t give Malone a chance to figure out what she wanted. The man had no patience but he didn’t let fear hold him back so much. Malone and Savage are intense with one another and they have great chemistry. I just didn’t like their personalities because to me they didn’t see as if they grew up enough. This book does end on a cliffhanger but I do recommend this as a good romance of the second chance nature.
On The DL is a bit different than what we are used to from Laramie Briscoe but I loved it! This is the first book in the duet but have no fears book two releases soon so there isn’t a huge wait. I like the way that Ms. Briscoe has broken the book up, I think it works well with the bit of a cliffhanger we get because it adds to the emotions you are left with. I haven’t started book two yet, but I am anxious to do so.
Slate and Malone have history, they were high school sweethearts and had planned on getting married. Sometimes though, sometimes the timing is wrong, or fears become apparent that tears a relationship apart. Words that are said, emotions that become out of control, wounded pride and broken hearts can shape us for years to come. Not everyone gets a second chance, not everyone has the chance of being with the one who still holds a piece of your heart and soul. The question is, will Slate and Malone learn from their past mistakes or will history repeat itself?
The chemistry between Slate and Malone was undeniable and time hasn’t changed that. Both are stubborn at times and I wanted to shake them both more than once but at the same time I could see where their stubbornness was coming from.
Yes, On The DL ends in a cliffhanger, and no that does not bother me one bit. I think, for me at least it has made me even more excited to read MVP. I know some people will complain about that, and to each is their own but there is a reason why it is written that way, and no one should question why an author does what they do. I highly recommend On The DL, and if you want to wait for MVP to release before starting it then so be it but I hope you won’t wait because this is one I really enjoyed.
Wow Laramie Briscoe has hit it out of the park with this one. I absolutely loved this second chance romance. Slade and Malone were high school sweethearts. Malone was going to follow Slade to college and be there with him to support his dream of become a major league baseball player. Malone had dreams of her own. In the end she choose her dreams over Slade's and they went there separate ways. Now ten years later they are both back in their home town again. Slade because he was injured in training camp and he came home for PT. Malone is home because she lost her job and does not know what she wants her future to be. They have both grown as adults but one thing has not changed and that is the feelings they have for each other. I just loved Slade he was so sweet and sexy. He had this vulnerable side to him that just made him more lovable. Malone was just as sweet but she still held on to all of those insecurities she felt when she was a teenager. Slade and Malone love each other so much and they want to be together. For this to happen they have to work on past hurts and be willing to share everything. As push comes to shove and life starts happening again and they are forced out of the bubble they are in things such crashing down around them. What is going to happen now? Will they be able to get around all those past hurts? Will their love be strong enough to survive? Unfortunately for us all those questions just might have to wait until book two to be answered. I cannot express to you how much I loved this book. It was truly amazing and I cannot wait until book two. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Oh boy... I think there are a lot of people out there who can relate to Slade and Malone. First loves, college, finding yourself... Having doubts and reservations. Being afraid to talk! Why are we always afraid to talk!?
Ten years have come and gone since Malone and Slade set eyes on each other. They're both in different places now, almost feels like they're both starting over.
Can they move past the past. Will Slade be able to hear and listen to what Malone is asking of him? Will Malone speak up so there's no repeating the past?
I loved and hated this book. I loved how honest it was about following your dreams even as you walk away from part of that dream. Love isn't easy. It should be. It should be full of growth and hard times and good times and it all adds up to make you stronger - together.
I hated this because Malone killed me! She needed to speak up. Girl get a voice! And Slade!!! Ugh man... Not all women want to be "taken care of" we have dreams and wants of our own, honey. Young... In love... Having the world almost at your finger tips. Comprises and making sure that the person you love the most has what they need to feel fulfilled as well... That's exactly what the book is about. Malone and Slade are navigating all of that all over again except they have the world, including the "team wives" watching and that's adding some pressure this time around.
Will they break? Or stand strong, United?
Yes this ends on a cliff. But it's worth it. So don't let that effect your decision.
It's Laramie Briscoe, you know you want to read it.
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions. The full review can be read on Dog-Eared Daydreams.
Being on the disabled list and getting fired prove to be the impetus that have Slater's and Malone's paths crossing again, and I must admit that their breakup a decade prior was really rather heartrending. Yes they were eighteen-year-olds but heartbreak is heartbreak at any age, especially given that these two were engaged, very much in love, and had plans to be together. A whole truckload of lack of communication and ten years later, and they were back in the same place with nowhere else to be. I liked that there wasn't this mad rush for them to kiss and make up. There was a hint of wariness and remaining anger, but the bitterness that I've come to expect from this particular trope wasn't as prevalent, and thank goodness for that. I enjoyed seeing these two reminisce while also getting acquainted with the people they are now as adults. Of course, this happens to be the first in a duet, so it does end in a cliffhanger, but it's only a two-week wait between books, so it isn't frustratingly and overly long a wait. Overall, On the DL was a 4.5-starred start to this new duet and has me looking forward to the release of MVP. ♥
My first thoughts after finishing this are “AHHHHHHH! OMG! WHHHHHHYYYYYYYY!?” followed quickly by double checking when the next book comes out. In true duet fashion On The DL has left me dying for the next book because Savage and Malone’s story is so insanely good and I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! Laramie Briscoe is one of my favorite authors with her incredible ability to always write a story that has romance that makes you swoon no matter what or who it’s about and that shines brightly in this book. I loved how easy these two were together, while at the same time they didn’t sugar coat or hide from their past. The reconnection between them was real and at times raw, but the sweetness of the love they had is always present. That made me become so hooked to their story. Both having gone their separate ways in the most heartbreaking of manners years before, and now Malone and Savage are both right back where it started with both of their lives turned upside down. This first half of their duet is as much about them finding themselves again as it is finding the new version of them. There’s a lot of growth, a lot of emotion, and a lot of sweet steamy goodness that grabs you the entire time you’re reading.
This is the first of a duet by Laramie Briscoe. Holy cow! I didn't know what I didnt know. Love when authors give us little easter eggs in their other works. Bam! I am so happy that Caleb " Cruise" Harrison from the MTF series had a college roommate that got this author's creative juices flowing. We see just a mention of him in Caleb's book. But believe me, you are going to want to know all about Slade.
Slade and Malone were high school sweethearts. Malone decides she needs to find herself and takes off. I enjoyed Slade much more in the story. I felt like he had been wronged without any explanation. Jump ahead 10 years and we start on journey for trust building and friendship. The underlying current of attraction still ebbs and flows between these two.
Great bit of sports romance. Wonderful start at a second chance. The story doesn't end with this book. It's a minor cliffy but it really is just the end of a chapter. Book two picks up right after and continues the story.
Fans of the Moonshine Task Force will love seeing Caleb and his family again. Fans of the author will love this one. And new readers will love this second chance romance!
*Complimentary copy provided for an honest review.
This was definitely something a little different from Briscoe. A sweet, second-chance romance to get wrapped up in. While aspects of this story were emotional and there was some drama, overall, it was a light and engaging story.
Years after breaking one another’s hearts, Malone and Savage, are brought back together when both are dealing with personal struggles. Surprisingly, they are able to form a new type of camaraderie. As time went on and they grew closer, I was interested in how their relationship evolved. How they were able to lean on each other for strength. I like how, while we can see the direction they are moving in, we aren’t fully confident that all will be well. Briscoe has created strong and independent characters and even though it is evident that together they shine, their independence and differences could be too much to overcome. All of this created a feeling of tension that added to the excitement of the story.
On the DL is the first installment of the MVP Duet so keep that in mind when you get to the end. As soon as I realized I’d reached the finale and picked my jaw up off the floor, I was desperate for more!! I can’t wait to see how this story will play out.
This is a story about 2 young people with the world at their feet but one conversation tears them apart for years. Now the 2 characters in this book are extremely complex and at times frustrating! Malone has grown into a confident self-assured woman and when she has to temporarily move home she comes to a huge realization about herself and her life so far. Slater is in some ways still a kid but in a man's body. He knows what he wants but he is very self-absorbed and needs a bit of a reality check. He knows all the right words, but the question is whether he can carry through with his promises.
This is book one and naturally, there are some unanswered questions. I am really hoping book 2 can answer those questions and that Slater & Malone do get their happy ending. I think they deserve a second chance, it just comes down to whether they will both put their own selfishness aside and be able to form a strong foundation to base their new adult relationship on.
This couple is very much a push and pull kind but deep down I think they really do love each other. They just need to decide if love is really enough. I can’t wait for book 2 to see what happens next!
Wow! What an amazing start to the story. I say start because it ends in a cliffhanger so we have to wait to see... Don't let that deter you from reading this story, but if you're like me and don't like cliffhangers, maybe wait until the second part comes out.
This story is filled with a lot of love and compassion between two people struggling to get it right. Malone and Savage, high school sweethearts, plan to get married until different dreams take them in different directions. Ten years later they meet and find the old spark is still there.
Malone and Savage are passionate, compassionate, beautiful, stubborn people. Too bad Doc Jones isn't around to help them with their communication issues lol. This book does not have the typical back and forth misunderstandings that usually take place but when it comes to the big stuff, the couple has a hard time separating their emotions from the situation to talk out their fears. They impulsively react. This book has a real life feel that Ms. Briscoe has captured well.
Right now I have love/hate for you Ms Briscoe! I love your stuff but the cliffhanger makes me want to thrown a toddler tantrum! Can't wait for the next one.
I love second chance romances - they really are my crack.
In this one we start of with high school sweethearts engaged and about to embark on the next step of the journey...only one of them makes a decision that breaks both their hearts and changes their futures. Ten years later their both back in their hometown. Is it their time now? Can they make better decisions as adults than they did years ago?
I found this such a refreshing change as how it is handled when they encounter each other for the first time. I loved both of these characters. Slade deals with some understandable insecurities while Malone is trying to find what works for her. With time has come clarity and they are both able to look at the past and learn from it. But right now they're in a bubble, what happens when real life starts to intrude? Will Malone be able to be the woman Slade needs her to be? or will the same concerns pull our couple apart again?
Ahhh, high school sweethearts. An athlete and his #1 cheerleader, supporter. A boy who has his life figured out as much as an 18 yr old can. A girl, while she adore her bf, is wanting more for herself and not knowing how to voice out her feelings. What could go wrong, right? Of course, said girl will follow her athlete boyfriend/fiance, forgoing all her dreams and wants in the name of love. Not. Girl found her backbone and decided to forge a life of her own, paying a heavy price of losing her first love.
Fast forward a handful of years later, Slade (abovementioned athelete) and Mal (the ex-fiancée) find themselves back in their hometown for the first time after that horrible break up. This book highlights how a love so strong can be stifling. A love so strong can also be damaging. How often in relationships, someone is always paying a price of varying degrees of sacrifice. Yet, it also shows how a love so strong can help one grow and learn to forgive.
This book has all the angst of a teenage breakup, the going back and forth of the blame-game, the journey of learning something new about someone from the past.
Will Slade and Mel have their happily-ever-after? Not quite. At least not in book #1. But is their journey worth going along? Yes. Would you feel like taking these 2 characters, lock them in a padded room so they can work out all their issues? DEFINITELY.. and it will also make you wait, oh so impatiently for the continuation of their journey.
I loved this book!!! I am a huge fan of second chance romance and this book was perfect for me. This is the story of Malone and Slater. They were in love all through high school and they had plans but life happened and things didn't work out. Ten years later Slater is back home and he runs into Malone. The spark is still there....chemistry hasn't disappeared for either of them. The more time they spend together....the more they realize that the feelings are still there for them both. I will admit that their journey ends on a cliffy and while I don't like cliffys at all....I know that the wait will be worth it and I need to be patient. I loved this book so much and was hooked from beginning to end...I can't wait for the next book in their journey and would definitely recommend this book to everyone. Its a well written story full of romance, humor, sweet swoony moments, and hot steamy moments. This author is a must read for me and never disappoints on delivering a fantastic book and that is what she has done here. Well done!!!
On the DL is wildly entertaining and one of Laramie’s best works yet. Laramie continues to impress with her down-to-earth characters and her ability to pen these engaging stories. The relationships that she showcases are always enticing and gripping with a heavy dose of reality. Her dialogue is fluid and captivating.
The explosive chemistry between Slater “Savage” Harlow and Malone Fulcher never truly faded away after Malone breaks Savage’s heart as teens. Years later, they both end up back in the small town that saw their love flash & burn. What happens when the residual sparks are fanned to an all-consuming second chance at love? Will this time around end in a happily-ever after that is long overdue? Or will they suffer the same fate as the first time around?
The only way to find out is to pickup with amazing story and see what happens with Savage & Malone. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this.
"On the DL" is one of the best second chance romances that I have read in a while!! Slater and Malone have that once in a lifetime love that everyone wants. They will both have you ready to hit them upside the head because they are so hardheaded and stuck in their ways. I love that Laramie did not add in a bunch of unneeded drama that some authors put in second chance romances.
"On the DL" has you on the edge waiting on them to workout all of their problem but we will not have answers until the next book. Laramie I just have to say that the ending KILLED me and I need the next book YESTERDAY lol!! Laramie always has a way of pulling you into the story and making you feel like they are your best friends that you can't help but cheer for.
"On the DL" is a wonderful four star second chance romance that you will NOT regret buying!
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, second-chances, and heartbreak.
This is Malone and Slater’s story. Slater was on top of his game until he got injured. Now he is home and rehabbing that injury. He is spending time with his family and reconnecting with old friends. What he never expected was to see Malone again. She is his one that got away. Malone is back in town which she never thought she would do. She is trying to find herself after a truly terrible year. When she sees Slater, she is stunned. The feelings are still there but she came to find herself not get involved. Wil she be able to resist the pull? Or was Slater what she really needed all along?
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
So I don't normally read second chance romance novels. I hate them most of the time, well all the time. However this is one of my favorite authors so I thought I would give it a try. It's completely and utterly worth it. It doesn't so much feel like a second shot at but a whole new beginning. It doesn't try to throw the past back and forth. Malone broke Slater's heart but he destroyed hers too. Being back home after ten years is like stumbling your way down an old path. Slater is home from an baseball injury while Malone lost her job. The relationship build up between these two characters is slow and oh so intense. I'm not sure what I expected when they finally got together, it doesn't play out like you want it to. The ending is hard to process. You want something so bad but when you get it, it doesn't always give you what you need.
