I first want to thank Melissa Robles (who’s with Kate Tilton’s Author services!) for sending me a e-copy of this book!

This book I was left in awe of; it’s the exact kind of message I would’ve gained so much from in the beginning of my mental health journey. There’s many bits from this book I’ve highlighted in hopes their reminder will help me better my standings with my mental health and trying not to let it be the one that comes out on top. I appreciate Mike Veny so much for sharing his life’s story amongst the pieces of advice he’s gained over the years.

Mike Veny is recognised as one of the 100 most influential people in the healthcare industry; and after reading through his book then I can see why.
Like many people around the world, I struggle at times with my mental health and I find it difficult to speak to other people about it. There is a stigma around mental health and it is often covered up as people find it uncomfortable to talk about.
Cancer they can understand; AIDS they can understand, but mental health is almost hidden. This book opened up to me in a way that no other did. I found myself reading along with wide eyed wonder; and I asked myself, What superhero would I be?
It was very insightful to read more about Mike Veny and his own battle with his mental health. The flow that this is book is written in makes it such an easy read; I didn’t feel like I was bogged down with too much information; instead I felt like I wasn’t getting enough. It was thought-provoking, enthralling and surprisingly enriching.
I would recommend people giving this book a go! It really is a fantastic read!

I received this e-book from a Goodreads giveaway from the author. I am so glad I took the opportunity to read this important book. Veny shares his own story and offers a strong message and action plan for advocating for your own mental health as well as ways to aid in the fight for better understanding of mental health challenges. His message is clear and his writing is concise and clean. I wish this book was available in print so that I could buy a copy for my local library.

Inspiring

I happened upon Mike's work while researching books on mental health and stigma in preparation for starting an online mental health resource and business at www.stigmanomore.com

Mike's story resonated with me on several different levels: I also became symptomatic as a teen, hiding my symptoms of psychosis and mental health challenges, knowing there was something different about the way I processed information and interacted with people and society as a whole...yet unable to share this part of my life for fear of being labeled as weird or crazy.

With an eventual diagnosis of Schizoaffective Disorder/Bipolar Type I finally had a source for my symptoms, something I could wrap my head around and begin educating myself about.

I hope to offer on my website a place of shared community where those with mental health challenges, their families, and anyone interested in joining the fight against stigma can work together toward shared responsibility of advocacy.
