The Sixth Grade Wedding Planners

Rate this book
Anuja's cousin sister and Dan's uncle have fallen in love and are soon to be married. The approaching wedding between a Indian American girl and her Caucasian fiancé seem like an all-adult affair. But that's only until Anuja and Dan are called on to take up wedding planner responsibilities. Over the course of a hectic few months in the run up to D-Day, Dan discovers a lot about what being Indian American means. And he rather likes what he's discovered... yummy new snacks, a non-tux wedding suit, a whole new kind of wedding with lots for kids to do and a great new buddy, in Anuja. While Anuja finds that rather than dreading her favorite cousin sister 'getting married and going away', this wedding has actually meant becoming close to a whole new family. This book on acceptance, diversity and being open to new experiences is based on Mena Amin and Steve Sarver's actual, real-life romance and childhood. Besides, over the years, the Amin family have been closely associated with the non-profit Pratham USA that works on improving literacy amongst poor communities in India. All proceeds from the sale of this book go to Pratham USA.
