Starlight Gods #7

Forgotten Fairytale

Rate this book
What if your life was like a forgotten fairytale? Would you cry in despair at losing the memories of a story you held so dearly? Or move on to start a new chapter, deciding to accept your fate?

That's exactly how I feel about my current dilemma as I face this new world. My name is Mako, code name: Bloody Butterfly. Adjusting to my new environment is a struggle during the day, while dreams that feel like memories haunt me at night. Regardless of my inability to accept this place as my new home, I have little to no time to consider my predicament.

My mission? To hunt rogues that are kidnapping children and shifters with high potential and throwing them in the hidden facilities across the realms.

My duty? To rid the world of them, one by one, with my new best friend Ann and my mysterious partner who sends tingles of pleasure through me with just a smile or a glance from his gorgeous ruby eyes.

Time is of the essence and my instincts tell me there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. The only problem is that in order to finally connect the dots and discover the meaning of the mark on the back of my hand, I will have to do the one thing I'm fighting so hard to achieve: to remember the fairytale I have little hope of regaining.

All I can do now is pray to the Starlight gods. Maybe then, my lost memories will find their way home to me.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

All right it's official poor Mako cannot catch a break no matter she does. After all that work she did in the last book this time she gets her memories taken from her as well. All she has is "Nighty" as she embarks on this new phase of life with no clue what happened before. At the same time her Knights are searching all the realms to find her at times with disastrous consequences. Can they all find each other before it is too late? The ending is a cliff hanger that really leaves you needing the next book because things should really get good now. If you have been following Mako all this time then you know you have to read this book though I will not blame you if you choose to wait for part 2 before you do. I really enjoyed it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Review copy kindly provided by the author in exchange for a honest review
After been introduced to these guys earlier this year . I knew that we were in for a treat. The Starlight Gods have a high reputation to love up to and Wilson loves to torture us with them. She gets what we want but she takes her sweet time revealing things and honestly I love it.
If you love this series like I do then you will loveeee this book. Mako is back and you won’t be disappointed with this one . Willson has really gone to town with this book and you will love every second of that book. Don’t be disappointed this is short. It packs quite a punch and will definitely be left satisfied .

The story is really coming together, after getting kidnapped and living in realm 8 Makoto is living her new life with her new friends, she is doing her best to rid the world of the rogues whilst trying to work out what the strange dreams mean, in the meantime her knights are scouring the realms looking for their lost princess

Full of action excitement drama and romance this book in the fabulous starlight series had me glued to the page. With twists and turns I just did not see coming the series is getting so very exciting, I absolutely loved this story and cannot wait for book 8

PEOPLE! This book. My gosh. I’m so... I don’t even know! I read “to be continued” and my jaw dropped and all I could say, out loud, was oh fucking shit!

This book starts off where Poisonous Dream ended. It’s a little later than exactly where it ended. But you didn’t miss anything. Mako still doesn’t have her memories but she’s facilitated herself into her new reality. Even though Mako doesn’t know who she is she learned so much about herself during the timeline of this book. She also becomes even more badass, if you can believe it.

You meet so many new characters that you can’t help but love. They all treat Mako so well. They respect her and they’re all in the same boat that she’s in. They don’t know who they are. So they make their own family.

Most of this book is Mako away from the guys. So if you’re hoping for a quick reunion, strap on your seatbelt because you’re in for one hell of a ride to get there.

This series is so damn good. I don’t understand how it’s not more popular! Everyone and their mothers should read this series!

I have to be honest. I didn’t think I was going to like this part of the storyline because it’s so frustrating when Mako loses her memory, but I really loved it! Yumoyori does such a great job of tying every little detail of what happens into her world and character building that even though I hate when Mako can’t remember important things, I can’t see the story going any other way. I loved getting to see the happy side of Mako, but I hate knowing that a Mako with her memories would be so sad about everything that has happened! I need more! I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here!

I have to admit that I was disappointed that Yumoyori decided to make Forgotten Fairytale into 2 parts and release this as a short book of approx. 40-45k words. The timeframes for releasing her books are quite unrealistic and seem to be resulting in lower quality books.

I found this book to have several good moments, however there were more moments that just fell short for me.

If you're like me and have followed this series from the beginning, you've fallen in love with the characters and Book 5 left you reeling. I distinctly remember shaking my phone at the sky, cursing the literary gods for making me wait so long for the next one. Book 6 tied me over for a bit but I had fifty million questions buzzing around in my head, all waiting for answers.

While this next installment answers as many questions as it creates, it is so damn satisfying! I threw my phone down on the bed, threw my hands up and yelled "yes!! Omg, I knew it!!!" toward the end, where we start seeing the author prepare us for what I expect will be (the continuation of) some big revelations in the next book.

I honestly can't even verbalize how happy this series makes me. The author carefully creates this vivid landscape that is at once lush and whimsical with beautifully flawed, multi-dimensional characters whose idiosyncrasies make you love them even more. I mean, how many series have you read where it's gone past book 3 or 4 and you can honestly say you're still into it? Not that many I'd guess. This series makes it into the top few for me. Yumoyori Wilson is a master at her craft and lucky for us she's prolific so I can busy myself with one of her other series while I wait for Forgotten Fairytale 2!

Mako is a Starlight reaper, code name: Bloody Butterfly. She's part of a team tasked with hunting rogues that are kidnapping children and shifters. Her team members are her commander Anna and her boyfriend Nikolai. They are all strong warriors who have no memories of their past. Mako is haunted by her lack of memories. Their loss leaves a permanent sadness in her soul. And when she begins dreaming of emerald eyes and the word firefly she fears that she left someone at home waiting for her. As happy as Nik makes her, she understands that a part of her heart is missing along with her memories. Nik promises to do everything in his power to make her happiness whole. During this time Mako's Star Knights have not given up and have been searching the universe for her. Their reunion is inevitable but without her memories how will their unicorn loving, milk drinking princess respond to her knights?

Forgotten Fairytale is a quick read, a very clever way to tie several storylines and missing characters into the main plotline. I was impressed with how it all seamlessly came together. This book is almost lighthearted. Mako is happy, falling in love, has found close friends, and adores the children in the village. Yet, at the same time, it hurts your heart. Memory loss stories are always painful! As a reader, you know Mako's lost memories. You know the pain her Star Knights and family are in. And knowing Mako, you know the pain she would be in if she was aware of this separation. Jeffrey has robbed her of her life in order to move her more quickly along the path he wants her on. It's effective but so wrong.

I enjoy all of Ms. Wilson's books but The Starlight Gods is my personal favorite. I love all of Mako's men, including her brothers and the newest boyfriend. I ADORE MAKO! Her character remains one of my all-time favorites. I can't get enough of this princess and I very much look forward to the second part of this book in September. I want reunions even if they are uncomfortable or stressful. I look forward to the pieces all fitting together and have complete faith that it will work out all because of Mako. Her beauty, grace, strength, and the love she has for her men, her family, and her friends will bring everyone together.

I think this is the best book in the SGS series so far. I am so happy Yumo broke it into 2 books because she needed the time to give this series and this pinnacle of the series justice. It worked out superbly, I am anxious about the ending because I NEED MORE ALREADY but I only have to wait another month and it will be in my hands haha. And Yumo has 2 books coming out between now and then so I should be good 😊.

In Part 1 of Forgotten Fairytale, we get to see where Mako ended up and what she had been doing since she was kidnapped by Jeffrey. We also get some glimpses of her star knights searching the various realms for her. We finally get to meet the last star knight (the red/black connection the guys and Mako have alluded to the entire series). I knew going into this book she would fall for him in this other organization (love how it was all done and how Jeffrey planned this whole thing. Not sure if he or the Queen of Wintalyn devised the big plan or not). I already knew who Anna was going to be since breadcrumbs had been left since Tainted Rose. Now the reveal was a total shocked for me!! Absolutely loved it and I cant wait to see more of the whole groups reunion. I had to tell everyone around me to leave me alone because I could not stop ready once everyone was in the picture at the end.

Btw, loooove Nick and his spirits. Can’t wait to see more of him and how he fits in with the others. Also, my heart hurt with EliasAnne and Kai after her encounter with Midnight. I usually don’t get very emotional but Yumo’s 2 recent releases have definitely hit me right in the feels (in a good way). I seriously cannot wait for the next saga in this series and how epic it will be for the group to be reunited. I know there will be tough times to get them there, it definitely wont be easy with Xavier and Mako, but we know they have to come together with the other Princesses to fight at some point haha. A+ Yumo, thank you for continuing this series. Totally loved the Starlight Reapers and Dark Ranger 😆

Yet again proving how awesome Makito is!!!this book begins yet again with her memories erased. Thanks the the jerk jeffrey ....yes I KNOW he supposedly has a plan, but we don't know it yet...and i am fairly sure his BFF Wintalyn will smack him when she finds out what he did...thinking shes a part of an elite team tracking down rogues, our little Firefly becomes a part of yet another team....and shocker, the team leader is none other than Anya the missing sister of her beloved Ryder (that she currently doesnt remember). All kinds of craziness happens in this BRILLIANT book including finding her final knight. Of course firefly doesn't know she has others out there....and sister dearest isn't even the only familial shocker. Looks like J has been purposefully shifting chess pieces around the board...only they are PEOPLE he's playing with. Even though her memories are wiped she keeps getting these deja vu moments that don't make sense. Little does she know it's the love she has for her guys and Nightmare trying to awaken her memories. Watch her fiercely try to claim her life as her men fight to find her....and see how even though her memoirs are gone she remains the same person they all know and love. Family sums up what this book is about. The book ends with a cliffhanger....so once more i can't wait to see what happens after the massive shocker at the end....how will things resolve...and boy oh boy I cant wait to see what happens when the.players all realize.exactly what's happened.

Forgotten Fairytale picks up with Mako in Wintalyn chasing rogues after Jeffrey wiped her memories. She doesn't remember anything, not the guys, her family or who Nighty is other than her familiar. She's living in a camp with the other fighters and makes friends with Nikolai, a red eyed shifter and Ann, a beautiful young woman. Both of them have no memories of their life before the camp as well, although both Mako and Nick come across certain things that seem to trigger deja vus.
At the same time her star knights are searching every realm for their beloved princess. But what happens when they find her, not knowing she has no memories and doesn't remember them? Especially when she and Nick got close? Throw in Ann as well as a healer with gold orbs and you have a very unique reunion!

This book had me near tears the whole time because it was such a sad but beautiful storyline especially with Nick, Ann and mako not knowing their pasts and the guys searching for her. I'm so happy we finally got to meet Nick and I can't wait for the next part!

Spoiler free, as always! In comparison to the rest of the books in this series so far, this book is not nearly as dark in tone – in some ways. It is, in other ways, a heartbreaking idea that truly brings to life the thought of what if you had forgotten everything about yourself. Would you build yourself back up? Trust again? What if you started to remember? Would you WANT to remember? Even if it might not be good? This book brings together the entire Starlight Gods series – the main series, as well as the in-between novels detailing the lives of the Star Knights – and it begins to bring together the universe as we know it…And then it starts to tear it apart at its seams. Be prepared to second guess everything you thought you knew, gasp aloud, as this book sends your heart racing into your throat. I cannot WAIT for the second part of this novel, to finally have the answers I need to know!

Initially I was hesitant to read this book as I am a little bit over Mako and her knights never catching a break, however, this was a good book and it kept my attention, especially in the second half. It is a pretty quick read as this story has been broken into two parts but I do not mind that because I can read it in an afternoon and then be excited for part 2!! I did enjoy meeting Nick in this book and am intrigued to see how it will fit in with the knights. The ending was interesting and kept me needing to find out what happens and if Mako get her memory back soon. I can’t wait for part two, however, if you do not enjoy books broken up like this wait for the next part to come out and then read. I hope that this series starts to come to an end so that we can read about Mako and her knights living together and starting to finally being happy and accepting their past and moving onto their future. Ms Wilson always writes a captivating and exciting book and this is not different.

Awesomeness!!!!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. And it was so worth it. I so love this series of books and I can't believe how well it is written. I'm so far engrossed in this author. She is awesome. The ending left you asking you OMG did that really just happen. It's all coming together so nicely that when you read the last word ur going wait where's the rest? I'm so excited for the next book in this series and I'm thinking about " I'm so glad I don't have to wait for a very long time for the next book." For all of you fans out there it's so worth it and for all of you who are just starting to get to become fans your going to LOVE this series. Plus don't forget to read the rest of the books that are synced with this series of books. Cause Scarlet and her men in the other series are going to knock ur socks off too.

Could not put the book down!

Mako was taken to Wintalyn by the hands of Jeffrey in the previous book. I'm still unsure of what his goal is in kidnapping Mako and erasing her memories but she is turned into a rogue killer. She adjusts to life ob Wintalyn and forms friendships with several other people also part of this organization. Love blossoms between Mako and Nikolai but she has echoes of memories wisp through her brain which causes her to have headaches. Meanwhile, the guys are searching for her throughout the different planets until Elias finally gets lucky. But many surprises await after a chance meeting with Mako. Was this meeting a coincidence? Or did Jeffrey orchestrate it? And for what purpose? I loved how the author was able to suck me in with her incredible writing and vivid imagination!

Emotional rollercoaster this one. There is so much in depth character and emotional descriptions throughout this book its amazing. So many twists and some questions answered from the previous books. Mako is sassy, but also the same loving, selfless, quirky woman we wlove. Midnight and the other spirits are the same yet also very subdued. I can't wait until they remember, if they do. the ups and downs of Part 1 are awesome, you might want some tissues for parts of this one. I can't summarize as there are quite a few surprises and AH HA moments that if I did it would have too many spoilers but I will say this we meet the Red Knight FINALLY and he is awesome!! Fabulous cliffhanger, now I'm patiently or not so patiently waiting for part 2!

What can I say when one of your favorite authors surprises you yet again? Just when I was thinking that the starlight God series was getting less exciting, the savage unicorn comes and bam... I got all my love for the books again. This is the series that started it all and Mako is a great FMC and she has been in some awful situations but choose to always look to the bright side and she overcame so much. In this book Mako is yet again in a bad situation with no memories but she makes new friends and finally meets the last starlight knight (although she doesn’t know at the time). I am thankful that Miss Yumoyori choose to turn this story in 2 parts because we get all the emotions and nothing will be left out. September seams so far away right know!

What can I say about this book without giving away any spoilers?
Well I can say this and that is I absolutely loved this book!
The constant building and releasing all throughout this story was perfect but that cliffhanger was pretty brutal because I didn’t want this book to end. So now I have to wait until September to find out what happens to Makoto and her men.
Yumoyori Wilson is one talented story weaving genius, each book that I read of hers just gets better and better which is probably why she’s become one of my favorite authors out of so many.
So if you haven’t figured it out yet that is a big Heck Yeah I most definitely recommend this book because I think it’s amazing!

This book offered a new perspective to Mako and her story. It was interesting seeing what she could possibly be like, were she not so impacted by her tragic history.
And we finally get to meet the red knight. I feel like I have been waiting forever to meet him. I was definitely not disappointed. But I am curious to see how he is going to interact with the rest of her knights.
Definitely had some scenes that tugged at my heartstrings. I really felt for Eli in this book.
Overall, this offered an excellent edition, with some major bombshells dropped. I'm curious to see how things play out from this point, considering all the possibly life-shattering information that was revealed.

Cliff hanger! Will leave you wanting more.

First off this book ends in a cliff hanger. So if that’s not your thing you’ve been warned. With Makos memories gone she is in another realm with new friends and weird dreams. Trying to figure out what is going on keeps her on her toes while she is trying to get rid of the rogues. Meanwhile her knights are searching for her desperately. The ending let me wanting to read the next book immediately. Great detail and emotional depth in this book. Loved it

Finally we get to meet the 6th knight. However, he is elusive and we don't get his backstory. We have another memory lose. The memory lose is getting a bit redundant to the point this is starting to become a soap opera. In addition, it also makes me a bit angry when the lost princess is found again only to be tossed aside because "she looks happy". This seems like a selfless move, but it is totally selfish because they don't want to deal with the pain that is going to come from the truth. I look forward to the next book clearing up some of this drama.

This book continues right after Poisonous Dreams and it was absolutely amazing! We are introduced to some new characters who are SUPER important and by the end of the book, a lot of the missing puzzle pieces have come together! I used to believe that Ryder was my favorite character, but now with Nick in the picture, it's a tie! I really love how this part of the story answered a lot of unanswered questions and it left on a bit of a cliffhanger so I can't wait to see what happens next! Much love for this series!

To recap, Mako has been kidnapped...yet again! To make matters worse, her memory has been wiped and she no longer remembers her Star knights. That all happened at the end of the last book.

Anyway, on to Forgotten Fairytale. First of all, it ended too soon! I was completely enthralled in this book and found the events crazy fascinating. I don’t know how she does it, but the author is aces at creating an insanely complex storyline that somehow isn’t overbearing. It was so good! The story went in a direction I really wasn’t expecting. And that ending...caught me completely off guard!

There is one issue with the consistency of the storyline. At one point earlyish in the book, Nick mentions his spirits are named Bleu and Blaze. But then later, he mentions Blazes name and Mako acts like it’s the first time she’s heard the name.

Hold on for a great ride.

I will warn you this book does have a cliffhanger. Knowing that I would read it again and probably again after that.
This first part is amazing.. so well written loved Nico, Bleu, and Blaze.
You meet so many new characters that feel like you have known them for years. Won’t say much more I don’t want to spoil the fun and beauty of this book..

Mako has had her memories taken away, but is making the best of her new life and finding love. Her knights are searching for her, but when they find her will she still be their Mako? This is a shorter story compared to the rest of the series, but it packs a lot of punch. I liked seeing Mako with the kids in town. This story brings a lot of the threads and missing connections together. I’m looking forward to part 2!

Another hit

This is my favorite series by this author and she did not disappoint with this latest book. This is shorter than most of her books but none less amazing.
This book starts off where the last one left off with Mako being kidnapped and having her mind erased. The author gives us POV from both Mako and her star knights as well as some surprise characters. It’s heartbreaking, kick-butt, and is full of surprises. It is definitely worth the read.

This is the Starlight God's series and the story is really picking up! I really loved this addition to the series! The writing is above and beyond, as always!! Yumoyori Wilson is a superb storyteller and has literally constructed an imaginary world that takes readers by surprise!

In this novel we find out what Mako has been up to since being kidnapped by Jeffery. It is not an easy answer!! Follow Mako into her world and learn even more about the guys and Mako herself. I cannot wait until the next installment is due to come out!

Make is just such an adorable character and I think we get to see a totally different side of her in this book. The memory wipe was really bad, but it enabled her to find something that was lost. When she is found by her knight it’s hard on everyone. How do you face the love of your life if she doesn’t remember you?
This was only part 1 of the book so it’s shorter then we’re used to but it makes me anticipate the second part even more.
