Easy to follow and filled with practical advice on a navigate LinkedIn as a powerful sales tool. The book contains terrific resources and offered insights I hadn't read anywhere else. I'm super excited to put these strategies into action.
Melonie has written a great guide for those that want to use LinkedIn for Social Selling. Some people seem to think that social selling is writing content and sitting back and hoping. While it isn't that and Melonie proves that by proving her own prospecting method "The Link Method". This allows you to be visible (and nurture) buyers so you can use social selling pro-actively. "Obviously" LinkedIN does not = Social Selling, in fact LinkedIn is only 30% of your social graph so you will have to master other social networks, but as a starter for Linkedin this is a good place to start. BTW There is also a quote from me (I didn't know until I read the book) but not until the end of the book.
I will recommend the book to people who have to do the entire revenue generation process themselves and feel they need to get more value from LinkedIn.
For people working in larger organizations there’s little help on how to orchestrate the effort.
If you have been in sales and marketing for a while you will find some of the material in this book repetitive to what you have already learned (target audiences, value propositions, building relationships, messaging and so on). Claiming that social selling is a new discipline is also a little beyond me.
LinkedIn 101 designed for people who have never used LinkedIn or invested a few minutes to complete their profile. But if you’ve invested any time on LinkedIn, this book will feel a bit too basic
"LinkedIn Unlocked" by Melanie Dodaro is a standout guide for any business professional looking to harness the full potential of LinkedIn for social selling and networking. As a comprehensive manual tailored for B2B service providers, business owners, and ambitious entrepreneurs, this book explores the strategies that can transform your LinkedIn experience from mundane to extraordinary. I read Melanie’s first edition of the book a few years ago and was able to implement this in my own sales system. I must admit that I had forgotten several of the strategies in the book, which was a terrific reminder to reread this addition. Melanie Dodaro approaches LinkedIn with a refreshing narrative that brings the platform's possibilities to life. Unlike the more common dry, textbook-like tutorials, Dodaro's book engages readers with a lively and accessible style. What truly sets this guide apart is its robust use of current technologies like generative AI to streamline and enhance content creation, making it easier for users to stand out and capture the attention of their ideal clients. The LINK Method™, introduced in this book, is a game-changer for anyone serious about converting connections into clients. This structured outreach system is designed to maximize the effectiveness of your interactions on LinkedIn, ensuring you're networking and building profitable relationships. Another standout feature is the book's focus on emotional storytelling. Dodaro emphasizes the power of narrative in making genuine connections, a strategy that not only attracts but also retains potential clients' attention. Including actionable strategies, such as step-by-step instructions for optimizing your profile and engaging with leads, ensures that readers can immediately apply what they learn. The interactive tools included—worksheets, checklists, and calculators—are invaluable. These resources are designed to help readers implement the strategies discussed seamlessly, providing a hands-on approach to mastering LinkedIn. The book’s focus on personal branding and emotional storytelling allows readers to reach and resonate with their audience, ensuring meaningful interactions that lead to actual business results. However, what truly elevates this book is its adaptability and recognition of LinkedIn's evolving nature. Dodaro provides strategies that are effective now and designed to adapt to future changes, making this book a lasting resource in a rapidly changing digital landscape. In summary, "LinkedIn Unlocked" is more than just a guide; it's a comprehensive blueprint for anyone looking to enhance their LinkedIn strategy and presence seriously. With Melanie Dodaro's expert advice, readers can confidently navigate the complexities of LinkedIn, making it an essential tool for anyone looking to boost their online sales and presence. Whether you're just starting or looking to refine your existing strategies, this book will provide valuable insights that can lead to significant professional growth.
I've skimmed through "LinkedIn Unlocked, 2nd Edition," and it's packed with useful tips for succeeding on LinkedIn. Written by Melonie Dodaro, it's perfect for business owners and entrepreneurs who want to stand out on the platform.
When I have more time, I plan to return to this book and complete all the work Dodaro suggests.
Dodaro's book gives clear steps for improving your LinkedIn profile, building relationships, and turning connections into clients. What's cool is how it talks about using technology, like AI, to do this even better. Plus, it introduces a method called the LINK Method™ for reaching out to people effectively.
One thing I really like is how it talks about setting goals that match your values. That's important for staying motivated and feeling fulfilled.
Even though I haven't done the exercise she suggests, I can tell it's full of great advice. And with endorsements from experts, it's worth checking out if you want to boost your LinkedIn game.
This book can help both the LinkedIn newbie and those with a bit more experience.
Two things I really appreciated was the timing that Melonie includes in her social selling strategy. I had been noticing that I didn't do as well as when I said thanks for connected requests on the same day or sent a value-adding message within a week. The book showed me that that timing was rushing things a bit. The timing it suggested jibed with my experience as well (sometimes I got too busy to be prompt but that seemed to work).
The other thing I appreciated was Melonie's exercise on understanding one's ideal client. While people usually stop at identifying the client's pain point, she emphasized thinking about how the client would feel. I appreciate that because it can lead to a much more powerful profile (and sales copy)!
This isn't a bad book. Indeed, parts of it are fairly good. It's just that I discovered I didn't need it. I had already been doing most of what it recommends on my own without any help, and I had been getting great results for months in the process. I guess I thought this book might provide some extra clues to really put me over the top, but apparently not -- I was doing really well on my own. But for those of you wishing to grow the quantity and quality of your LI network, and to put it to use, and who just aren't sure how to go about it, I'd go ahead and recommend this book. I do think, like me, many people can figure this stuff out for themselves, but many can't, as I've discovered, so books like this can be helpful. Recommended for people starting out on LinkedIn.
This is an excellent book for those of you who wish to use LinkedIn to build a professional profile and learn how to leverage it practically by interacting with the right people. The key is to build a relationship with buyers and eventually take the conversation offline to secure business. This is a great book for Salespeople, Sales Managers and Business owners who want to use LinkedIn at a time when social distancing is crucial. I have followed Melonie Dodaro's tips and found very good success with her strategies.
MUST read for anyone who struggles with starting conversation
Actionable read! Many lawyers are on Linkedin but don’t know how to use it properly. I now have a tool to share with them in the form of Melodie’s thoughtful book. Along with easy to do tactics, Melodie shares important strategy such as when Sales Navigator will be a better spend than Business Plus. And she shares the important KPIs to track. Data rules! Get the book & grow your biz. I plan to!
There is a good reason for having a great LinkedIn profile. It is a great professional branding tool and may replace conventional resumes someday!
Melonie does a great job of taking a LinkedIn newbie step by step to create a great profile, generate leads, follow leads, find customers and stay in touch with them.
Ideal for solopreneurs, early stage startups (with small marketing budgets). While most of the ideas are related to LinkedIn, you also get a good dose of marketing techniques.
This book is for beginners at Linkedin. If you spent some time here like me the book may feel a bit basic. Why still four stars? Well I think Melonie did a good job explaining social selling and how to do it in Linkedin. Furthermore despite I am an experienced user I got a great takeaways from this book. Especially the social selling index was an eye opener for me.
Definitely recommended for people that want to start selling through this social media platform.
Everything you need to know about LinkedIn and then some!
If you were looking for an easy to read, understand and leverage book on LinkedIn, this is it. It walks you through step-by-step every thing you need to set up and how, how to post effectively (as opposed to sending out a bunch of spam posts or messages - a pet peeve of mine) and how to build professional relationships and a network. If you’re in business, you (and/or a member of your team) need this book.
I get that some contacts that includes marketing and sales principles and foundations necessary however there was a lot of focus on the basics of marketing versus the tactical piece of LinkedIn. I would have rather see more content focus on the ladder and if you don't know anything about marking your sales, read another book.
This book is well written. It contains all kinds of ideas to implement and explain features of LinkedIn that most people don’t know about. It also explains different levels of paid subscription so you know if you really need it. Great resource for anyone that is serious about this platform.
Enjoyed reading the book. Several interesting tips and tricks that can be implemented quickly and fairly easily. Got results instantly. Strongly recommend.
It's a great book if you want to start or you already have a presence on LinkedIn. It specializes in B2B LinkedIn "selling".
It's a very detailed book with step-by-step instructions and action plans. Even if you don't understand anything related to marketing, the book makes it easy to execute.
It's true, there are many people that are not taking advantage of the platform, Melonie provides guidance and research to help anyone become a Linkedin Ninja. It's a good read.
I loved how this book completely went off route of my initial expectations. I was expecting a book driven by how the Linkedin Algorithm works and ways to work around the software to maximize success. In contrast, it was focused toward how to drive deeper interpersonal connections through this platform. With the dopamine rush of likes, comments and views, users of social media tend to forget about the purpose of these platforms. Act as fertilizer for opportunities to engage with people in real life. I really needed this reminder, and I believe this book really grounds an individual on what to truly pursue on the linkedin platform. Thanks Melonie
Trying to study up on the latest #linkedin tactics for some projects my clients are wanting me to lead them through. So I picked up a couple of books I'll be speed reading this weekend related to it.
This one seems to be a meta self promotion tool promoting self promotion online.
It does a good job explaining basic social media approaches like how to engage with people, what trigger points are (moments when you should engage), and some okay scripts you can evolve for your own sales efforts.
It's worth a read if you're wanting to get a good intro to the platform and how you can utilize it for your business needs as a sales person, recruiter, HR person, etc.
A brilliant guide to to essentials of making LinkedIn work for you! I recommend this book to friends and clients. I frequently refer to it myself too when looking to update my profile or just boost my activity on LinkedIn.
