We all have a bit of creativity inside us, waiting to burn brighter. Sometimes all we need is encouragement. At other times, we need skills or know-how. And still at other times, what we need most is the chance to explore our interests, make mistakes, and have fun. This fill-in-the-blank, do-it-yourself guidebook will give you all these things and more as you discover what it means to be creative.
I'm a writer, editor, and habitual daydreamer. Before I became a full-time author, I spent nearly a decade as an editor at American Girl where I specialized in creating imaginative nonfiction content. Today I write books for children and adults. I believe that a good book can change a life—and the world.
I truly believe this book has something to teach creative souls of all ages. I resonated deeply with its themes of creativity, curiosity, and resilience. I will be gifting and recommending this book for years to come!
I've been a fan of the American Girl books since I was a kid myself, so I wasn't a bit surprised by how much I loved Spark. What an encouraging message for girls (and people of all ages!) that creativity isn't a rare gift bestowed upon the lucky few, but a trait that lives in all of us if we choose to explore it. The author expertly guides readers through the entire creative process with American Girl's classic interactive workbook pages and quizzes to lead the way. My favorite part is the lesson that most people don't get things exactly on their first try, even the experts who seem like they always know what they're doing. A great reminder for adults, too!
I'm glad to have this one on my shelf and will for sure be sharing it with my kids when they're a bit older!
I received this book as a giveaway and enjoyed it quite well! This is a fun little book on creativity, and I love the steps they talked about to spark your own personal creativity. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking into different creative projects :)
This book shows kids that creativity comes in many forms and that everyone has the ability to create. The book walks through the creative process from start to finish and includes helpful activities along the way. There are also mini-biographies of professionals who use creativity every day
This is more book than journal, but there's plenty of pages and prompts to fill out. It's an interesting concept for a book - it's open-ended with some examples of creative projects. I like the process outlined.
