This 90-day devotional is the third continuation to our bestselling, farmhouse-inspired daily devotional, Grits to Grace and Sweet Tea for the Soul titles. Sweet servings of inspiration, these downhome devotions are chock-full of Scripture, Godly wisdom, and common-sense country wit. Each devotion begins with a thoughtful or witty title, a Scripture, an inspirational story or thought, a faith-check take-away, and ends with a humorous or thought-provoking tag. Like a hand-stitched and heartfelt gift, these faith-crafted pages will bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye.
I loved this book. What made it more special is that it was a birthday gift from my mom. 😊 I loved the short devotionals and the quotes that accompanied each one. Some were so wise and others so funny! So good that I really want to pass it along and gift it to someone else who will enjoy it as much as I did. ♥️
I received this book as a thank you gift. Since I like to start each morning with scripture and a mini-homily, this was a perfect way to shower me with gratitude. I enjoyed the meditations, one each morning. It helped me remain focused on God, the promises given to us, and life eternal through the word of God applied to life.
These short little devotionals offer many practical reminders about faith but also good manners (speak kindly to people, don't gossip, etc.). I have put a little marker in the ones that I thought were the most comforting and hopeful.
I haven't tried the recipes that are in the book, but just on first glance, they actually do seem like legitimate recipes!
Halfway through Biscuits, Butter & Blessings and I truly feel blessed. Linda Kozar makes reading the Word of God fun. Her humorous reflections related to each scripture passage is like a breath of fresh air for the soul. Each devotional ends with a "faith check" that brings the biblical truth a little closer to home. She also includes a humorous adage or thought or a quote by someone famous to add to her point. And best of all, she's included recipes from her own kitchen. I highly recommend this devotional!
These devotionals were uplifting with insight into the scriptures shared followed by a Faith Check at the end. Each devotional included a quote that ranged from thoughtful to humorous. An added bonus were recipes for various butters for biscuits plus other recipes that rural American families still use. This was a gift from an Amish friend and I’ve tasted her delicious butters. A keepsake devotional to read again, plus purchase for others.
This devotional fell flat for me. I found many of the lead-ins to be a stretch; the message often did not tie in well with the anecdotes shared. I had theological questions/concerns about some of the content.
