Conned. Betrayed. Damaged. Jett's plan to clear his head with a midnight ride turns into a mission to chase a female con artist away from the Brikken Motorcycle Club and ends with murder. To protect his freedom, Jett's only option is to bring Sydney back to the clubhouse and make sure she doesn't squeal. It isn't until Jett orders Sydney to wipe the make-up off her face and stop the act that he learns he put an innocent sixteen-year-old in his bed. Loyalty within the club is necessary for Brikken's survival. Any woman in Jett's life will need to be untouched by betrayal and open to trusting him. He glimpses that faithfulness in Sydney when she reaches her breaking point and despite all the danger and her age, leans toward him. Raised with Rollo's values, Chief's examples, and surrounded by the club, Jett's life-long commitment to someday step into his father's position within Brikken is put in jeopardy as he hits rock bottom while sitting in prison for the second time in his life. His path of punishment hardens his heart. But, it's his weakness for Sydney that he wears like a patch on his vest that could destroy his future. Sydney Hawkins never depends on anyone. Her mom, her dad, her grandma were only temporary caregivers in her young life. Shuttled from one foster family to another taught Sydney every personality, every con, every manipulation, she uses to survive. And, she uses each skill to hide her secret. Until she meets Jett. He's the only man who has stepped into the role of taking care of her—not as a social worker, not as a guardian, and definitely not as a foster father. He's also the one person she can't manipulate. Jett's dominating personality makes it hard to keep the secret in her life hidden. And, as the pieces she desperately clings to start to fall, she finds herself at a dead end, locked up, where the only thing she can rely on is her heart. Through the hardships of her childhood to paying the price for her choices, she stumbles into adulthood depending on the most unlikely man who'll change the course of her life.

Jett is book 2 in the Brikken Motorcycle Club Saga. Jett is the oldest son of Chief and the future president of Brikken. Sydney is a young girl caught by Jett conning members of the club while pretending to be older and not the 16-year-old girl that she is. I really enjoyed this book; Jett has changed so much since book 1 and seems to carry the world on his shoulders. His connection to Sydney is immediate and his need to protect her is what makes her a permanent part of his life. Sydney is very similar to Jett although she is so much younger. Her need to make sure her sister is protected and cared for meant more to her than her own life. Neither girl has ever had any love but the love they have for each other. My heart broke when Jett and Sydney were separated, and the anger Jett felt towards her would have been over quicker if he would have listened to her. While I don't usually enjoy separations, I'm glad that the author went that route because she definitely skates on that weird line of creepy old men at times and had they not been separated Jett would have crossed a line I would not have been happy with. Although, this author seems to have a way of making me ok with what her characters do. Overall, I really enjoyed this one and I'm off to read book 3.

second book in the Brikken MC series. Jett is Chief's 1st born son, and guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree because there's a whooping 21 year age gap between the H and h. i loved that this h was mature- her life experiences forced her to grow and mature faster than i suppose her peers.

i preferred the first book. with this one, there was a lot of push and pull between the H and h. There was a lot of unnecessary "assuming", and we all know assumption can get you killed.. at times i just felt like Jett needed a good ass-whooping because he was constantly pushing Syd away.. i didn't love that.. ACT YOUR DAMN AGE JETT!

anyways, looking forward to the next one.. the series is yummy so far:)

5 Clouds Above You Stars

Sydney gave up everything to keep her sister safe. At sixteen she was on her own living in a run down trailer without heat conning people out of money to survive.
Jett found what looked like a woman in her mid 20's conning his men out of money outside his Clubhouse. He followed her home to get his men's money back only to have the night end in murder. He felt protective of the tiny thing. He scooped her up and brought her back to the Clubhouse and to his bed. He couldn't explain what it was about her but she made him feel calm. With her in his arms he could for the first time since his stint in prison sleep a full night.
Their love wasn't easy... she was 16 he was 37. He kept her safe until circumstances out of his control forced them apart. He knew someone was a Rat. High fences and bars separated both of them.
Could you forgive the one you love for being the one who betrayed you?
Could you see through your hate to see the truth?
Could you survive alone behind bars where every corner could hide someone ready to kill you?

Debra Kayn... what can I say. She doesn't disappoint. As always I felt every emotion. I love hated the hero and our leading Lady multiple times through this book. It was worth it all to get to the end. Debra wraps up a book like none other. You feel a sense of relief and all the drama and pain and turmoil the characters went through to get to that point was worth it.

Yes there is a huge age gap. Just like book #1. Before anyone goes crazy nothing sexual happened until over 18. Though I would like to point out age of consent in Washington is 16. So while it may be taboo it isn't illegal if something had happened.

4.5 stars!!

Do you know of those times when you are 99% sure that an author is going to be your favorite of all times while reading your first book written by them? But then, you read another book from the same author just so that you make certain of that 1%. This book has me hitting that 100%faith in Debra Kayn.

She's officially my all-time favorite author.

I don't do companion novel series! I just don't. I try, but it doesn't happen because I am way too possessive of the main characters of the first book, and it is laborious to make space for another couple from the same world, in my heart. But this series is, clearly, an exception. The first exception in my world. Hopefully, more will come.

Jett by Debra Kayn is #2 in the Brikken Motorcycle Saga. As the title aptly suggests, this book follows Jett's journey of finding love amidst chaos. LITERALLY. Jett (37) is the eldest son of the MC President-Chief, whom the first book is based on- thus making him the heir to the throne. The title comes with a set of responsibilities and threats that Jett takes very seriously. Protecting his family and the club always comes first, especially after serving 18 months in prison, and has no place for a person who he cannot trust blindly. But when one night he finds this pretty young con artist -who he thinks is in her twenties- conning some members of a few grands, he decides to get rid of the trouble that she caused and bittersweet trouble she was! Who would have known that the night ending with murder would force them together, forever?

Insert, Sydney, a 16-year-old. A con artist in the true sense. Escaped the clutches of abusive foster homes at fifteen, she only has one goal- to keep her younger sister, who is in the foster system as well, safe. When Jett enters her life, all she wants is to get rid of the much older man who doesn't let her out of his eyesight, because he doesn't trust her one bit. Jett isn't aware of Sydney's secrets and the stubborn duo's constant back and forth kept me thoroughly glued to the book.

Despite the ' Black-and-White' world of main characters, their story is anything but dull. The path Jett and Sydney's relationship took has flavors of insecurity, mistrust, secrecy, complications (obviously), angst, chemistry, intense love, pain, and sacrifice. Oh, so many sacrifices! I was so very apprehensive of reading this book because I could sense the sacrifice and pain coming from about 10 miles away. I had to put this book on a halt because I was not ready for the obstacles that were coming. I can't tell you what happens because that will be a spoiler and will definitely spoil your mood.

I did not see certain events coming. I did not. The ones I did see coming were already so painful that I this added unknown event made it even more somber. Their struggle to stay together was intense, I must say. The things Sydney underwent as child, followed by the consequences of trying to keep her sister safe really put their relationship to test. Add in that horrible sequence with Jett, ugh! I wanted to slap people left and right! As if that wasn't enough...Jett really does suffere a major blow to keep Sydney safe and that seriously made his life so much more harder than it already was.

Emotions were clogged in my throat for the most part of this book. It pinched my heart to watch their individual character and relationship development. They really did come a long way to make their HAPPILY-EVER-AFTER (HEA) possible. In a world of sweat and blood, endurance and trust are greater than love. To get a peek into Jett's otherwise caged heart left me awestruck. He never stopped loving her. He sought the comfort that she brought to his soul. Likewise with Sydney. She really loved the man with everything in her. Even after all the time they spent apart, she never stopped loving him with the vigor and shyness of a young adult.

If you are freaking out looking at the age difference with the added taboos of an adult-child relationship, and probably looking at me with the "Moon-your-mind-is-fucked-up" face, let me come in and calm you down. I freaked out too, okay! You are not the only one. It's not like I read the blurb and picked it up right away. It took me well over a month to finally pick up the book because I know that authors-no matter how fucked in the head they are- understand the fine line between unconventional and wrong. So to encourage you to read a book this taboo, I'll spoil one tiny detail for you: They don't get into a sexual relationship until Sydney's of age/legally an adult. Jett never takes advantage of her vulnerability, age and what left innocence she had left. he protected her in every sense. His goodness fought a constant battle with lust and need for Sydney.

Nothing can change the fact that they did, indeed, fall for each other under undetectable circumstances but you cannot decide what's wrong or right by just looking at their ages. Their genuine feelings for each other I witnessed as a reader made me try my best not to judge them for their choices. One must also keep in mind that a Motorcycle Club lifestyle is very different from that of ours- which most consider normal- so it's very obvious that what's easier for them may not be for us and vice versa. The taboo-ness of Jett and Sydney's love is what attracted me to this book. I am a 'mushy-gooey puddle' of a sucker when it comes to a taboo age gap and like his father Chief, Jett too ended up with a really taboo love story. So there was absolutely no way Jett's parents could "disapprove" of their taboo, but honest relationship. (In case you are wondering who Jett's dad- Chief-is, I have written a review on his story, which is #1 in the series, as well. You can check it out on my feed!)

This book became a part of my heart when I saw how hard Jett was struggling in his already vulnerable position to push Sydney away from his heart, but kept her under direct watch because he knew that he couldn't live without her and believed that Sydney had betrayed him. He wanted keep her under his watch because he believed it would be torturous for Sydney. He though she wanted out of their so-called "relationship". Another thing that I absolutely loved about this book was the lack of " villains". I like books where situations prove to be the challenge and not some stupid, twisted rival. though, I will admit that the pain these two endured was a few milimeters away getting to them. Chief and Jo's story certainly had a smoother path.

Why I didn't give this book a straight 5:
1) Chief and Johanna's story will always be closer to my heart than Jett and Sydney's. Basically the " I- don't-do-companion-novels" factor. So a 4.5 is A LOT for this extension into Chief's world.
2) I would have given this book a solid 4 had there not been Chief and Johanna's references and appearances. Their- Chief and Johanna's-kids were also shown in this book! OH MY HEART. I WAS SQUEALING AND AWW-ING!! *watery-eyes-emoji* So that made me increase the rating.
3) Some major incidences were not as "logically" justified as I would want them to be. So it made it really hard for it to touch 5 stars. I don't just read books to pass time. I try to understand them as much as I can. So yea, I am a Lil strict ;)).
P.S Please don't take my strict rating in the wrong way. I have nothing against the author. Hell, I don't think I would be able to write even half as great as all the authors do. I read books on the basis of what I like incorporating into my life and rate them accordingly.

I hope you liked this review!!

Don't miss me too much, okay!
Cheerio!

ok so before i start my moaning i just want to say notwithstanding i absolutely still loved this book. BUT COME ON ANOTHER 16 yr old child with a 37 year old man!!!!!!!

this is getting old fast, i mean seriously you got away with it in Chief cos of the whole back story of jo and her mother but come on, sorry but i dont know any 37 year old man who would be interested in a 16 yr old child other than a perv. talk about how to ruin a fabulous series.

nothwithstanding this - cos i put out of my mind that jett was a 37 yr old man lusting after a 16 yr old child - i loved the overall story and eventual love story. i loved the impact of prison which we don't often see.

but please if you want to save this series you HAVE to quit walking a very fine line of pervyness with these older guys. yes in the UK 16 is legal age of consent but come on any person who saw a man this age with a 16 yr old would call him a perv and a pedo. and i really didnt want jett to be a pedo. but you are cutting it very close.

got to say that i am relieved to see Olin at least has a woman in a comparable and reasonable age. wow a mature man who actually wants a woman who is comparable to him. not an easily led little girl who can be controlled by him. who has worked ffs!!!

gotta say if i see another book that has a 16 yr old and a mc man of late 30s i wont be reading it. why would i want to read about a little girl and an older man? whats romantic about that? nothing, zero and infact its creepy and unbelievable. i mean how many people do you know where the guy is in his late 30s in a relationship with a 16 yr old? know why? A FULL FAT ZERO. cos he would be ostracised in real life. yeah i know its a biker book and we have to suspend of disbelief somewhat.

such a shame cos i love jett as a character. loved sydney's character too just wish you'd made her older.

you know there's nothing wrong with writing a romance about women over 25 yrs of age?? you know women who are educated, have jobs, have a life, have an opnion, not easily controlled or manipulated.

such great writing spoilt - i'm so goddamn frustrated with this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 JETT & SYD stars!!

So story time.. i had added Jett's book first with the intention to read his and his only, but then I decided maybe I should actually try and read the first book in this series (ha.)

I think it's safe to say I enjoyed this book A LOT more than I liked chiefs book! Another huge age gap book happening here however it was done a bit more tastefully? Lol I mean it was still crazy big, but idk it worked!!

I enjoyed Jett and Syd's dynamic so much. At times Jett was a dick and didn't do nearly enough groveling but eh it's expected MC and all.

I'm not 100% sure if I'll be reading anymore from this series! Just because I'm a weirdo with series, maybe I'll come back and revisit this! But for now I'll leave it at these two!

7/10 would recommend!

I loved Jett and Sydney's story! Jett is the son of the Brikken MC president and has dedicated all his life to his club and his family. Sydney has learned from an early age to trust no one and she only depends on herself. When they first meet as she's trying to con the mc members, neither of them realise what will follow. Their first night ends in murder and when Jett takes her back to the club because she is a witness, their love story begins. Even though life and the law will try to separate them, their connection can never break, they are made for each other! An amazing book by one of my favorite authors! Can't wait for Olin's story!

Surprisingly good considering the initial storyline is a bit icky. These dudes really have no issue with some serious cradle robbing! But once the heroine was of age, I really did like the chemistry and emotion between Jett and Sydney. The epilogue is sweet and wraps things up nicely. I do want to read about Olin and Ashley so I'm wondering why there's been such a long delay on that book coming out....I hope Kayn finishes out this series!

What a roller coaster ride Sydney and Jett were on, they needed to learn how to trust each other and with the age difference Sydney never had another love her before so they learned together, what a beautiful love story and they went thru so many things together and made their love even stronger. love this series, can't wait for Olin's story!

Loved Jett and Sydney!

I didn't think I'd love these stories as much as I have, especially with the age differences between the main characters. But Debra just makes it work. It wasn't all hearts and flowers which helped with the reality of the story without making it too bloody. I can't wait for Olin's story.

Good read

Jett is struggling since he came out of prison. The only thing that calms him is a young 16 year old girl. Sydney is in hiding but is also a con artist. She dons a couple of the guys and Jett spots her. Curious he followed ends up bringing her home and that leads to him becoming attached but she is hiding something.

Jett needed to prove himself with Syd. They still didn't trust eachother, but their loyalty, feelings and love made it through. Love Brikken! Need more.

Amazing

Omg this book was absolutely amazing! I love Jett & Sydney's story. When the heart choose who to love and doesn't mean a thing. Like his father Jett fell for Sydney & even though there were circumstances that could have tore them apart love won out in the end!
