Be sure to have a fan nearby because this book is sizzling! Besides the steamy bits, there's a deep, beautiful story here--you won't be disappointed.

Hailee and Finn bring you laughter and tears. Their relationship blooms before your eyes. From the first page, ahem, actually the first line, I was hooked. You're rooting for this couple from the start.

You easily connect with Hailee whether you've been in her shoes or not, and Finn has a background story that makes you realize that not everything is sugar and spice in life or in the kitchen.

Alyne delivers on the heat and produces a recipe for love, but what she also cooks up is a story to sink your teeth into.

You do not have to read the first book in this series before delving into Hailee and Finn's, however, be sure to read it either way because Finn's brother Dean is equally just as yummy, but oh so very different.

This is another win for Alyne! It melted my heart and my butter, ha ha ;)

My other suggestion is to have snacks on-hand because while you're reading, you're alternating between grabbing a tissue, a fan, and snacks--she sure gets your appetite going for...food.

A must read! <3 Can't wait for it to release because I enjoyed my ARC.

What a wonderful book. The author has given us a wonderful storyline that will keep you laughing, smiling and hoping for a happy ever after. The characters in the book are well developed and very down to earth. They have real life problems, lifestyles and dreams with situations readers can relate to. As you follow along, it becomes a joy to hang out with all the characters (the main, supporting and even the flamboyant ones) as they tell their story.

Hailee has had a good life being raised by her grandmother, but as she got older, her choices in men have been less than desired. Now she just wants to get a job, earn enough money to move away from her small town life and start over where no one knows her and her mistakes. A place where people won’t take pity on her. So she lies on her application and gets a job at a posh restaurant as the hostess. Her problem: she doesn’t know anything about the fancy gourmet foods they serve and their world class sexy chef, Finn King, sees right through her. His problem: Finn takes one look and becomes infatuated with everything Hailee.

From here the fun, the laughs and yes the heartaches begin. Both Finn and Hailee have dreams of their own problems of their. Things that most definitely would become even more complicated if they were to let there attraction loose. The author and this wonderful storyline will take you on a wild ride of friendship, self awareness and relationships that you don’t want to miss out on. The story is sexy, flirty, exciting and enlightening. I highly recommend reading How We Fall. I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful 5 star read.

I started reading this thinking to myself that I'd just read a couple of chapters before bed......12.30am I was still reading and forced myself to put it down as my eyes were closing!!

Thoroughly enjoyed this, so much so that I think I will re-read it again straight away just to see if I missed anything. The story reeled me in right at the start and held and captivated me the whole way through. Hailee is just adorable, a tad fiesty and says what she thinks......unless its about love! OMG Finn.......serve that fine man up on a plate to me please! A man that oozes sex appeal AND can cook! I loved the restaurant/kitchen and all the details about the food and taste testing. The way Alyne wrote about the ingredients and the tastes had me feeling like I was right there in the kitchen cooking and tasting. Then there was the sizzles outside of the kitchen and I feel the sex was balanced so right against all the other details of the story.

I'm glad we got to see Mama Rose again, and of course once again a few tears were shed.....but what a beautiful woman! Loved Hailee's new best friends Georgia and Enzo and hope we get to hear more of their stories at some point. It's also great that we got to have a bit of Dean and Emma in there as well and catch a bit more of a glimpse into their life. TO finish it off.....a wonderful epilogue.

What a wonderful story

How We Fall is a sensual read that excites every part of your body, it will have you drooling and curling your toes! Omg I've been hungry and horny throughout this whole book, TMI I know. It was frustrating, learning all these amazing dishes this Chef can make and then have his and Hailee's sexual chemistry steam off the pages. Woo. It was tantalizingly epic. I feel like I watched a cooking show that turned pornographic. I love it.

When two people who have felt the same hurts and pain that life can give come together and turn that hurt and pain into love, it's just simply beautiful.

Hailee was real. She's apprehensive on starting anything with her boss Finn. She has good reason to be. Her emotions are real. Her hesitations are real. But Finn. O em gee, Finn. He may be a master chef but he's also a master at destroying the walls Hailee insists on putting up. He's seriously dreamy. He has such a positive outlook on life, when his start wasn't so great. I'll admit, Hailee is going to frustrate you. She's so far in the pain it takes a lot to get her out. Luckily Finn is up for the job!

I am beyond in love with this book. The writing was flawless. The emotions real and gripping. The characters flawed but so lovable. Everything about How We Fall screams five stars.

Wow, another 5-star read by Alyne Hart!

This time it's Dean's brother Finn's time to fall in love. And the woman he falls for? Sweet but damaged Hailee Ferris. Hailee comes crashing into Finn's life when she's shoved a shopping list by one of the chefs at her new job and told to go to Whole Foods and buy everything quickly and only buy the best because "the king needed them." Poor Hailee's so out of her depth, something made quite clear as she's roaming the aisles at Whole Foods trying to figure out what a dragon fruit is. Thank God for the sinfully sexy man who helps her, right? Or wrong, as the man she vomited out the fact that she lied during her interview to turns out to be her new boss...

But in Hailee Finn sees something special and the relationship they embark on is no flash in the pan, not just destined for some heat in the kitchen. Hailee is seriously damaged, though, and hiding behind walls stronger than Fort Knox. Finn will have to be a superhero to get past them if he wants to keep her in his life.

Oh Finn, sweet, sexy Finn. He's the real star of How We Fall. He wasn't the playboy chef we've probably all read a million times. He had much more depth and layers than that. Truly a good guy who just fell in love with a damaged woman. Hailee was really frustrating to me, though; at times I wanted to reach through my Kindle and smack that woman! I could empathize with her for what she had gone through; but what she put Finn through was nothing short of ridiculous. Thank God Finn had the patience of a saint and really, truly loved Hailee, otherwise he would have given up on her ridiculous butt when she put the halt on their relationship.

I'm really liking this Men of Evansdale series, can't wait for Vin and Von next!

Hailee and Finn are about to take you on such a real and breathtaking scenic route to a love that one has to experience, because words don't do justice....this one you have to feel.

Alyne has such a way with humor and with moments that your jaw drops and the rapid heartbeats take over.

I love the first interaction between Hailee and Finn. She is just a one of a kind character who you would want to be besties with but be prepared to wear your favorite running shoes because you'll have to chase her down and help her talk away her fear.

Finn will make your mouth water and not just because he can cook. And between the two of them there is something hot and special cooking in that kitchen.

I am such a fan of Alyne and I am so impressed with how descriptive she is and how she can make you feel as though these characters are going to jump off the pages. Plus her words have make me crave spaghetti too.

Today I had the joy/ heart crushing pleasure of finishing How We Fall. Joy in this is one of the best books I have ever read and heart crushing because it's over now. Man that cooks? Hell yes! Hot, sexy, make my mouth drool lean man, Hell f*cking yes! God I cannot say enough good things about this book. Food! Yes please. Sex! Yes pleas! Finn King... He is mine and I am claiming him and no one can have him. He is my go to book boyfriend now.

Alyne has a way with words. I have said it before and I will say it again. Hot Damn, she is what authors should aspire too. She pulls you into a story and you are sucked in. I have one of the worst book hangovers I have ever had.

Do you like food, chemistry, and tears of pure happiness and joy? Then read this book, and NOW!

In “How We Fall” Alyne Hart cooks up a hero that’ll leaves you craving a second helping.

Bullied as an overweight child, Chef Finn King has an amazing sense of self. He knows what he wants and goes after it with skilled hands and a heart of gold. Hailee’s disastrous love life has nothing to do with her open-mouth-insert-foot tendencies. It takes more than Finn’s persistence, culinary expertise, and rock hard abs featured on his cooking channel to put herself on the line.

This story includes characters in the Space Between Us, making me ready to dine with the rest of the Men of Evansdale County. Bon Appetit!

Ahhhh Fiiiin!!! Swoon! After reading Dean's story, where Finn 'dropped in', I was sooo looking forward to Finn's story...and I was not disappointed. Lots of steam, but so glad that Finn wasn't a sexy, jerk, manwh*re!
On her first day as a hostess at a fine dining restaurant, Hailee's first task is to go the market with a list of items that she's never heard of before. Luckily, she runs into a hottie who helps her gather everything. She explains that it's her first day, she has no experience working at a restaurant...and that she heard that the chef is a hard@$$. I'm sure you can imagine that probably was not a good idea...to share with a total stranger. To Hailee's surprise, when she arrives back at the restaurant, the chef is non other than the hottie who helped her in the market. Instead of firing her for lying on her application, the chef, Finn King, insists that she work for a few weeks in the kitchen tasting every dish on the menu, helping prep, clean, etc. before she can assume her hostess position. The chemistry between the pair is off the charts haawwwt but will they do anything about it? Since Finn is her boss and all. Meanwhile, Finn, who already has a YouTube series, is working with a TV network to gain his own TV show. What surprises Finn and Hailee the most, is Hailee's natural talent to discern all of the flavors in a dish and give an intelligent critique. Finn offers Hailee a side job of helping him to try out dishes for his TV pilot...enough money that would help Hailee fulfill her dream of leaving her small hometown. This arrangement gives them the opportunity to get to know each other and they begin to secretly date. Can this relationship withstand their individual insecurities? I love that we get a cameo of Dean and Grandma Rosie...also love Hailee's grandma. Overall a beautiful story...love those King brothers...mwah!

We meet Hailee as she is trying to make heads or tails of a shopping list that her boss needs at the high end restaurant she was just hired at. She comes across as a bit spunky and able to take care of herself. Our first intro to Finn is of him having sexual fantasies of Hailee, not sure how to take a man when his first thought is how the female lead might look with her lips wrapped around his member. Throughout the book the author would have these moments that come up with either a character suddenly using an unnecessary expletive or some other vulgar sexual fantasy scenario.

This book dragged on and on, I totally get the food descriptions to set the mood since he is a chef but some of the other mundane descriptions could have been left out or edited down. For me they didn’t add anything except to fill pages.

For me Hailee came across as very juvenile, she’s in a situation that could have gone horribly wrong and maybe cost her future jobs in town if she doesn’t learn to control her mouth. Using the she’s a “red head” is so trite it was an eye roll. Most of the time what came out of her mouth made no sense. Not sure why Finn was mooning so much over her when she was wishy washy most of the times.

When he wasn’t having sexual fantasies about what Hailee could do with her mouth he did seem to have a drive and a desire to be something other than be just a circuit chef.

Others may like this story but for me it was a miss, I couldn’t connect with the characters they were a bit flat and seemed to almost be caricatures of what the author thinks those in the food industry are like.

This was a fun, sexy romance with all the right ingredients. It has a hot, sexy chef, a sassy employee that gets past all his defenses, witty banter, and lots of heat, in and out of the kitchen! Finn and Hailee have a funny and awkward meet cute. But once they connect over the intricacies of food, the sparks really fly. They have more than food in common, both having a rough beginning and then raised by their grandmothers. They really connect on so many levels. I like how they worked through many of their issues despite having plans that would take them in different directions. The food references were interesting and made me hunger for more. I loved all the secondary characters making this romance even more fun and heartwarming. I enjoyed Alan Taylor's deep, seductive voice that easily lured me into this story, bringing it to life.

I want a sexy chef!

Seriously! Where can I get one? I need to find one just like Finn King!

Ok, back to the book. I went into this book with a really weird question... What in the world is a foodie novel? I had no idea going in but after reading this, I feel the need to find more in this category. Hot men making hot food? Sign me up!!! This is a great addition to the series. I really enjoyed how this story overlapped with the first book. I cannot wait for the rest to come to audio!

The narration was amazing!

How We Fall (Men of Evansdale County #2) by Alyne Hart was another great read in this series. Hailee doesn't expect to run into her boss when she's sent to the grocery store. I loved reading Hailee and Finn's story although there were many times that I wanted to yell at them both. I can't wait to read more by Alyne Hart.

Another great love story I this series. Although it is the second in the series it can be read as a stand-alone. That being said, you really don’t want to miss out on the first either. Watching these two struggle with their own self worth as well as sad history was heartbreaking. I am very pleased to see their happy ever after and the second epilogue was fantastic!

Well if one woman in a book could make me want to lose my religion, it was Hailee. Not all the time, just at one particular time in the book I could have strangled her. The storyline was wonderfully written and quite entertaining. Not only the lead characters, but the wonderful supporting characters. These were people that you would either know someone like them or would want to know. They were wonderfully entertaining and supportive of the leads. A Chef, handsome and wonderfully talented who runs into the new employee of the restaurant that he runs, in a grocery store trying to figure out the items that she was sent to get for the very man who is helping her, only she doesn't know who he is. All she knows is that this man is beyond gorgeous. Sex on a stick is what he is. She hurries back to the restaurant and runs right into Chef. Yep, Chef Finn, sex on a stick himself is standing in the kitchen of the restaurant that she just started working at. After everything she said in the store, she is sure that her job is now over. But it isn't and from this point on, the pots aren't the only thing steaming up the kitchen.

The characters are well written and well defined. Finn and Hailee have some things in common, and not just food. Their pasts are similar, who raised them is the same only the circumstances are different. And then there is the attraction that they both feel for each other. Hailee is very, very leary of having anything other than a professional relationship with Finn, but she is having a hard time convincing her body of that fact. She has a problem with having a relationship with the boss, but she is also afraid of the hurt that will happen to her if she let's this thing with them go too far. And when it does, she gets scared and begins to push Finn away. When she finally realizes what she has, will it be too late for her to get the only man that will be her happily ever after?

A great read that will have you turning page after page to see just how their story will end. I highly recommend this book.

How We Fall
A Foodie Romance (The Men of Evansdale County, Book 2)
By: Alyne Hart
Narrated by: Alan Taylor

I am loving the men of Evandale County, the women are pretty awesome too! Alyne Hart is a gifted author with a great writing style, she creates stories and characters that are realistic and easy to relate to. “How We Fall” is second book of the series but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. This is Finn King and Hailee Ferris’s story. Finn is a chef and the king of the kitchen, he runs it like a well oiled machine. He has a special relationship with food and has a great reputation to uphold. Hailee Ferris wants out of her small town, she lied about her experience to get her hostess job at Acquiesce one of the top restaurants. Her first day on the job she gets sent to the store to pick up ingredients, some she never heard of. Luckily there was someone able to help her, a hot looking someone. She hurries back to the restaurant only to find out that someone is her new boss, Chef King. I loved how everything plays out in this book, Finn and Hailee getting to know each other, the fun in the kitchen, the drama, the angst, the heartfelt moments and start of a hot romance. There are some great secondary characters too, I adored her Grandma and Finn’s sous chef. It was great to see Dean from the 1st book again too. I highly recommend this book, it is an enjoyable listen and it captivated me from start to end. Alyne Hart, thank you for another great story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

I listened to the Audible edition, Alan Taylor is a terrific narrator and voice artist. He brings the characters to life, gives them their voice and personality as well as heart and attitude. He does a great job portraying the characters and projecting their emotions and passion into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen 🎧

Audiobook

A culinary experience between the head chef and the hostess. Food is a language of love and it’s one of the main elements in this book that brings these two characters together.

Performance: Alan Taylor is not a voice I’m familiar with in the audio world. He is the sole performer in this book. I actually prefer a dual or duet performance. In this case having two separate narrators would improve the the quality of this book. I couldn’t get over my disappointment at listening to Alan perform the female characters.
I love to experience new narrators, however I need the voice of the narrator to sell me on the performance. Just as it’s the authors job is to sell me on the writing. Alan’s voice was not a suitable match to portray the female characters in this story.
I easily lost track of which character I was listening to having one narrator performing both. Too many unnecessary details in the conversation dialogue.
Solo performance is not ideal for this type of story. When sex scenes become hot and steamy this solo performance is awkward.

Story: Finn is Hailee’s boss, yet he can’t stop thinking about her in a sexual way.
An insta-love romance between the head chef and palette taster. Personally there was too much information about food and cooking. I know this is a book about a chef, yet I didn’t need a lesson on flavors. I appreciate creating an original story, yet it still had that push n pull trope.
This was an instructional story in regards to food, recipes, and dining.
This is a story how they fall in love together despite the obstacles between business and pleasure.

Overall: This story made me aware that I’m not a fan of characters who run away with fear about falling in love. Hailee is the type of character who exudes every characteristic that annoys me in books.

Narrator did a good job. He did a good job for both main characters; a little slow at times, but overall, a good clear listening experience.

Sweet connection between Finn and Hailee in this one. This book takes place at the same time as the first book, but can be read as a stand-alone. Hailee has had poor taste in men and is tired of her hometown, so she fibs some to get a hostess job at a fancy restaurant to make some money to get out of town. Finn is the chef at the restaurant. The two have a bit of a meet cute, but try to deny their feelings because he’s her boss. Hailee knows very little about her job and food, so Finn helps her out and they grow closer. Unfortunately, Hailee is a scaredy cat about relationships, so she acts like a brat a lot. That got annoying at times; Finn was always putting himself out there and she would just be rude. She creates the problems for herself; I get she had some heartbreak in the past, but it’s so obvious Finn is legit. I liked her okay, but not a huge fan. Finn is awesome and so respectful, so I was all on board for him to find his happiness. They do have some good chemistry and passion, so I was rooting for them. Overall, an entertaining story. I also loved getting a bit more story for Emma and Dean from the first book. I’m not a huge fan of the premise for the next book or the characters, but I’d still like to check it out. So far, this series has been great!

Hailee is going to fake it until she makes it at her new job. Being a hostess at a fancy restaurant is just a means to an end. Make enough money to leave this small town behind along with all the baggage that goes with it. What she didn't count on was the hotness of her new boss Finn King. Before she knew he was her boss, she though he was just a gorgeous, albeit out of her league, guy that helped her at the farmers market. Finn has only had one serious girlfriend his whole life despite how he might appear. Hailee attracts him like no other girl in the world ever could. But Hailee stopped believing in fairy tales a long time ago. Will she be able to let go of all her pain and fear to fall for Finn?

This is my first novel by Alyne Hart and it is not going to be the last. Ms Hart knows how to craft characters that you can lose yourself in. This story was effortless, you couldn't help but love Finn and Hailee and pray for their happy ever after. Grandma, Georgia and of course, Enzo are just as lovable. Finn is straight up the fantasy for just about any woman with a pulse! He is sweet, sexy, vulnerable, and strong. Hailee is a girl that I think we all have been. Wanting to step out of our lives, escape our past and start somewhere new. I am so thrilled to have discovered Alyne Hart. If you love romances, you have to try How We Fall.

Alyne Hart is fast becoming an author that I will one click! In book two of this series, we get an intimate look at the inner workings of a chef. Finn is first and foremost a chef, not looking for love, but when he runs into his new hire, Hailee, all bets are off. There is a no fraternization policy, but the chemistry between these two is sizzling and keeping their hands to themselves is difficult. Hailee has been hurt badly and is not interested in anything long term, but will she be able to hold her feelings back? This chance at happiness for each of them is clear and present. Hart writes the story so you can easily relate to each character and spend the entire time rooting for their happily ever after. This recipe for love has feelings of passion, frustration, anger and love all come out leaving your hunger completely satisfied. Not to mention the wonderful visuals of the food these two prepare and taste! With a cameo from Finn's brother Dean and his wonderful grandmother, Hart has another winner.

Alan Taylor is wonderful as a narrator. I love his rich tone and ability to switch between characters with ease. He provides female voices that do not have that forced sound and makes this story a delicious listen!

Finn is straight up the fantasy for just about any woman with a pulse! He is sweet, sexy, vulnerable, and strong. Hailee is a girl that I think we all have been. Wanting to step out of our lives, escape our past and start somewhere new.

Finn King. Chef extraordinaire believes his life is perfect. Hailee Ferris believes that her life is meaningless in her small town and that she won't really be living until she can make her escape. Hailee lands a job as a hostess in Finn's restaurant and their two worlds collide. He's a perfectionist, she's casual. She challenges him. He scares her. They have both been burned before and Hailee may not be brave enough to take a chance.

This is a cute foodie read. I loved Finn, loved his fake-french talking sous chef, and the frank-speaking bartender down the road. I loved the Grandmothers. I had a more mixed reaction to Hailee. It was almost like the author couldn't decide who her character was at times. She would be sassy, full of fun one moment and scared of life the next. Maybe this makes her more realistic but it also left me conflicted. I don't like cowardly characters. Finn was much more patient and understanding than I would have been. Still, there was no denying their fate and it was an entertaining read.

Although a standalone I loved the little glimpses of Emma and Dean from book one The Space Between Us and their HEA In this book. How We Fall was sweet and funny. I liked getting to know Finn and Hailee and watching them fall for each other. The characters in this series are great-smart, sassy and funny. Finn has a big heart and the love for cooking and food shone through this story.

Finn is focused on his career as a chef. Hailey wants nothing to do with romance after being hurt. But when Finn runs into the new hire, all bets are off. The chemistry between Finn and Hailey are instant. Sparks fly and light ever burner in the kitchen as these two find each other. I loved the interaction between them. The obstacles, such as no interoffice romance, were perfect to give them something to strive for. Every romance that needs work, is always worth it. I found myself always routing for their happily ever after.

Alan Taylor was a great choice for the narration. He brought Finn to life. Alan had a great voice for Hailey. It was easy to follow his narration and get lost in the story. I enjoyed listening to Alan Taylor and hope to hear more from him.
