A pretty little thief caught red-handed. A shifter alien prince, acting as both judge and jury. Curvy space courier Corby lives hand to mouth in the Galactic Empire. Rules don't mean much to her. Survival is all that matters, and she's been lucky. But her luck just ran out. When she’s hauled onto the Imperial Order Starship, Corby comes face to face with Prince Jalton – the handsome lion shifter who will decide her future. Since she stole information that incriminates the Imperial Order royal family, Corby’s certain he’ll sign her death warrant. Or even kill her himself. If she gets out of this alive, it’ll be a miracle. Prince Jalton isn’t used to working amongst the grubby criminal class. He only came to the Imperial Starship Prison because he lost a bet with his brother. Now he has to spend the day with cutthroats, thugs and ruffians. The last thing he expects to see is…her. The girl makes his lion stir and snarl. Her bluster pleases him. And the lush curves under her tunic do more than please him. He’d like to steal her away from the rough prisoners. He wants to keep her and shelter her from danger. He can't wait to wrap her wild auburn hair around his fist, tilt her head back, and kiss the sass from her berry lips. And slowly and leisurely, he’ll show that fiery girl that she's his. A SHIFT IN THE SKY is part of the In The Stars Romance line.

Corby is running on fumes, literally...It's not easy being a human in space these days especially when you are trying to smuggle proof of the corruption inside the Royal family through space. As luck would have it the only ones who can sniff out what she is doing are the very same that take her captive, only this guard is nothing like what she expected, he makes things in space worth exploring.
Royal Prince Jalton never imagined that losing another game of cards to his brother would land him in a job so below his position, but above it too. This is no ordinary criminal he has captured for she has managed to captured the attention of his lion and his Royal heart. He will travel all of space to make her his.
Allow me to say that I loathe first person present with the fire of a thousand suns.
So much time spent on character interaction that world building was an afterthought. It was in space i guess but no idea what the ship(s) looked like, inside or out. Not much description of the characters either for that matter - she was red headed and curvy. He was tall and shifted into a lion. That's pretty much it.
Also, there was a section where it's the H's POV then mid-stream-of-conscious, it's the h's POV, then back again. No break, almost like the author stopped to do something else, forgot *who* she was writing, and just went from there, only to do it again half a page later. Did no-one proofread this? How was that missed?
Will I read anything else by the author? Based on this, not likely.
What an amazing story! The characters were wonderful and the way they connected was out of this world. No really, they were in the middle of space. There were unexpected surprises, an epic adventure, espionage, and intrigue, you know all the hallmarks of a good, exciting story. The author kept driving the intensity up and up and up, until it kind of fizzled at the end. But we still got a fantastic HEA, and even got to see the bad guy get his just desserts a little bit anyway. I was a little bummed at the ending because I really wanted the excitement of our heroes winning the day, but they won each other so can we really ask for more. I absolutely loved this book and I’m looking forward to reading more by the author.
Oh my gods what a book! I mean really hot. This book is extremely well-written and thought out. Just like all of Suki's other books. This is a short novella so the review will be to as not to ruin it for you. This is Corby and Jalton's story. He is a prince of the governing body of rule in space. She is a wildcat which is what they call a freelancer. She lives by hauling cargo but just barely. After losing abet he is sent to do prisoner intake. And that is where they meet. And thank fate he was there as someone wants her dead and now it is upto Jalton to save her and set things right. Man wait till you see who the bad guy is. Jalton is a lion but the bad guy is something else. I so want to read more about them sure hope his brothers get their own books too. Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
This is Jalton and Corby's story . First up gotta say I love the standoff that this story starts with !! And from here the story takes off !! Jalton comes across at first as one lazy weak royal . He loses a bet with his brother and has to work shifted for a day . Corby first meets with the lion in space ( gotta love the wording here !! ) when she is captured . Her reaction to the lion is a heck of a lot calmer than mine would have been !!! Once Jalton gets orders over what to do with her things start happening quickly ! Family at times can be worse then any nightmare !! I love the way that this author was able to take this lazy man and have him seem to just grow right before our eyes as we read ! This is well written and strongly recommended to everyone !! Thanks for you hard work that you put into such a great story !
Corby is a human female who smuggled things for money. She is also part of resistance against the corruption in the Imperial Order. The Imperial Order are the policing agency that works for the Royal family. Jalton is a prince who lost a card game to his brother. The bet was that he had to work in the lowest position for a shifter in the Imperial Order. That just happens to be the person who does the intake on new prisoners. When Corby is pulled into an Imperial Order ship she finds out that that she has 41 false violations against her. She is nervous though because she has a chip on her persons with evidence of the corruption. When Jalton receives a missive telling him to kill her, he realizes that something is wrong. Together they discover betrayals and love. I recommend this very interesting book.
Corby has stolen something that brings her the wrong kind of attention. Prince Jalton is stuck with the job of taking in the new criminals for processing. He is a shifter and his lion really wants her and that attraction leads them on quite a journey.
I enjoyed the story of the thief and the prince. It is told from both of their points of view which is my preference as it lets me feel closer to the characters. Jalton has been very spoiled and this interaction with Corby really enlightens him. She has had to do what she can to survive and she wants better for the world. They make a very good couple. There are quite a few surprises and a nice happy ending.
Corby was on a mission to bring a chip to the resistance that would shake up The Imperial Order at it's core. She was blind sided and arrested, only she expected an officer but what she got was a Prince instead, a hot handsome one at that. Jalton had lost a bet to his bother and was now in the prison section of the ship looking after prisoners. Some how thing were not what they seemed with the female prisoner so he that's it upon himself to work out why. Loved the story line and the twists that bring the two main people together in a space Cinderella read.
Good fun and interesting read with two likeable main characters. Jalton was a bit prissy at first but seemed to man up. Corby was a very interesting character and will be turning the palace upside down. Pity the brothers never made any other appearances. Just a pity it wraps up too quickly with very little explanation of the outcome of the chip’s contents. Wonder if we will get the two brothers stories an more information. This is my honest review of this book.
Wow this book had everything you need for a enjoyable and entertaining read. Plenty of intrigue, suspense, family drama, hot alpha male, and of course steamy romance. This book will definitely take you on a adventure and since I'm not one to give spoilers you'll just have to check it out for yourself to see what I'm talking about. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Although I found the first chapter slow to get into, the rest of the book blew my mind. It is a love story between Corby ( human) and Jolten(prince) set amongst the backdrop of intrigue , corruption and murder. There is nonstop action, corrupt family members and shifters. The characters are well written they almost jump off the pages. Although I did receive this from the author, I am leaving this review to tempt others to read this book. I am going on to purchase the rest of her books.
This book had everything -- intergalactic intrigue, hot alpha male shifters, family obligation, lust, devotion and love. Corby and Jalton make a fantastic couple even if it takes a bit of work to get them there. If you enjoy sci-fi romance, shifters or just a good story, you definitely need to add this one to your TBR list. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy and enjoyed every moment.
A fun and romantic space chase. She’s a thief and he’s a prince. If it wasn’t for fate they never would of met and instead she would of met her end. But fate likes to have some fun. One gorgeous alien lion shifter prince and she just can’t help herself. But she’s a smart and very thrifty human female that normally can handle it on her own.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
Sexy, Imperial Order, shapeshifting alien. ✔ Gorgeous, sassy, Resistance courier, human. ✔ Fated mates. ✔ Evil, rotten villain. ✔ Space battle cruisers fighting. ✔ What more could a reader want? How about hot romance? ✔ And, an HEA that makes you smile. ✔ Loved this book! It's pure entertainment. Happy reading!
A Prince and a prisoner. Prince Jalton and Corby could not be more different or come from very different lives. An intergalactic chase and the real criminals surprise Jalton. Corby is sassy. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Trying to cram an epic sci-fi adventure into a short romance book makes things a little ridiculous, but Jalton was hot and Corby was spunky and this was a good time. I do wish Corby had more agency in moving the story along though.
This book started off with action and ended with a lot more of action. The two main characters were awesome together. There was so must raw sexual tension between them and chemistry. Even their chemistry was hilarious. Excellent reading.
Great job of storytelling with lots of action and adventure. Jump into this one, hands down one amazing read with plenty of intrigue to keep it interesting.
