A New Threat Emerges, an Old Rival Returns

For seventy-eight years, the Republic of Texas has been a dead, isolated nation, cut off from its motherland to the north by a militarized, impenetrable border. That ends today.

Six months after overthrowing the Dallasite regime and taking control of Texas, Ernesto "El Flaco" Guzmn is suddenly forced to cope with a new, unexpected adversary: The United States of America. As he faces down the Americans, the resurgent forces of his longtime enemy, the Reverend Zachariah Wright, threaten to undermine everything Guzmn has spent his lifetime fighting for.

With his enemies closing in, Guzmn needs the help of his trusted reader and secret weapon, Soledad Paz, now more than ever. But can he still rely on her, or is Soledad's loyalty--like his own tenuous hold on power--a thing of the past?

**This novel is expected to be released May 1, 2018**

Ernesto “El Flaco” Guzman is bored six months after taking Dallas and effective control of the Republic of Texas. That all ends when representatives from the United States of America show up at his front door with no challenges. They bring unexpected news of the Reverend Zachariah Wright having taken over the western part of the Republic.

Young’s third novel in the Dark Republic series, El Flaco continues the story of the fight for control of the desolated Republic of Texas after over seventy-eight years of secession. All the characters from the first two books in the series are brought together in what could be the final life or death struggle for the Republic.

The question becomes will the Americans help Don Flaco to rid the world of the Reverend once and for all? And, how did the Reverend get all the supplies he needed to conquer west Texas? Can positive relations be established between whomever rules the Republic and the USA?

In another nail-biting, Mad Max-like, post-apocalyptic adventure Young has created an explosive finale to this series.

I enjoyed this book and thought it was a good end to the trilogy with a few surprises along the way (including I think a new skill in Soledad? The trouble with reading a series with too long a period in between, is I don't remember all the details). The first book of the trilogy, Soledad, was my favourite but it was certainly worth reading all three and being immersed in a very interesting world. The writing is also good. Looking forward to reading some more D.L.Young.

A great conclusion of a mesmerizing trilogy

The final book of the Dark Republic trilogy didn’t disappoint as it presented a satisfying conclusion. Good work, David!

Looking forward to read more stories from the Dark Republic universe!

Well written and interesting

A different approach to post apocalyptic fiction, even the last as good as the first. Written clearly with interesting characters

I am so in love with this book series! And this book is such a wonderful conclusion to the series (although more in this universe would be awesome, too!) that it's hard to know where to start with singing it's praises. My absolute favorite part would be a massive spoiler, so I'm not giving that away, but you'll probably know it when you reach it. While there is still plenty of well-written and well-described violent scenes, there's nothing like the horrific cannibalistic scene from Indigo, thankfully! (That scene was so well done, though, that I was literally holding my reader at arm's length and trying not to drop it in disgust! The mark of a good book is the reactions it elicits from it's readers!!)

NOTE: I received this book as an ARC, but I've also pre-ordered it and my review is uninfluenced by how I received it. I really just love these books! <3
