Getting to Etna Station is all that matters, with the world rapidly collapsing around them, Mike and company make a desperate trek to reach what they believe to be a safe haven. Can they out run the demons that chase them? Will they succumb to Knox and his tyrannical army or Payne, a revenge-bent vampire? New friends will be made along the way while some old ones will fall. If they make it, will it be all they hoped or just another nightmare?
Etna Station (Zombie Fallout, #11) Review originally submitted on audible: June 22, 2018
I cannot get enough of this series - The nonstop, explicative graphic Zombie action is nothing less than electric.
After listening to every book in this series to date, I feel like I know each character personally, and am in awe of Tufo's ability to so masterfully develop numerous strong characters in a way which makes it effortless for the listener to become emotionally invested in each one. . . friends and foes alike. It goes without saying that Henry and his posse are revered.
The nonstop humor, (often during horrific situations) is mesmerizing! Sometimes I am terrified during a life and death situation which is happening, and then Talbot, Mrs. Deneaux, or BT will do or say something so hysterical, and off-the-cuff, I am falling out of my chair, laughing so hard it hurts. (Sending extra props to Henry, who always steals the show with his riotous antics.:)
Talbot uses humor as a coping mechanism to help keep him going during some absolutely unimaginable and terrifying situations. I SO get it! Sometimes, if you don't laugh, you'll cry. If humor helps keep them all going, (with all their losses and hardships) .I say bring on the yuks.
Psyched to find out what happens with the Talbot clan, and their handful of vengeful haters in book #12.
Narrator Sean Runnette brings this series to life for me in a way reading alone never could. Thank you.
Much appreciation for yet another reality busting ride, Mr. Tufo.
I think this is the 1st time I give one of Mark's book such a low rating. The best way to describe this book is just like the Negan storyline on Walking Dead.
80% of the book is about Mike fighting with Knox. I get they the world would turn bad and people would do what Mark writes about. But this is a Zombie book with so much more Supernatural stories to explore. He left me hanging again with the zombie baby. We are still fighting with Payne as well. The conclusion of Knox just took to dam long. This was a total chore to read. Advice, if you are thinking of reading the Lycan books while you wait for the rest of books, don't. Although good reads, it does take away from Zombie Fallout story since you will find out about the future.
I have been a long time fan of this series. But it has started to decline. The biggest problem is the lack of internal consistency. Mike is a half vampire and Tommy is a full vampire. Sometimes they behave as such and use the powers they are imbued with. At other times they act human and the story makes less sense. Either have the characters act consistently or not. Plus, there seem convenient times where things happen for unexplained reasons. One scene in particular where all of sudden Mike gets these seeming superpowers and it is never explained. We get these foreshadowing that Mike is somehow this scion in the wait. Yet most of the times the story treats him as he was a typical human in book one. Also, characters pop up with unexplained powers (e.g., pied piper). I want to continue to love this series because I have a huge investment in the story and I like the author. But I am afraid the last two books have driven me into inactive fan status.
I felt like this book took too long to lead up to the end and then WHAM! it was over and there was no real ending. The plot is thickening though - with the coloration between Mike and the Zombies. I will be interested in seeing where that goes in the next book.
Yet another gripping book in the ZF series. Mike and Co are on the way to a safe haven called Etna station. They are being followed by a vampire with death on her mind, will they make it or will Mike lose it all? A nice lead into ZF12
Good book, I'm a huge fan of the series. Unfortunately this story feels a little too much like a segue, ready for the next brilliant story. There's too much, yet not enough, that happens in this book. Hopefully this is a blip.
One of My Favorites Finished this one and have to say, love it! One of my favorites to date. As always I love the writing, the characters. Deneaux surprised me again. I love the dynamic that ancient hag gives the series. One of my favorite disliked characters lol.
Etna Station, Zombie Fallout 11, Appears to be the last book in the series. Hopefully it is. And even though I have enjoyed reading it all, I think it is time to put the work to bed.
Yes, I have enjoyed reading the work, but after all the issues in writing I want to move on to something with better editing. And that is the main complaint about the whole series, the editing. Don't get me wrong, the story and writing is good, it can be a lot better. I'll do a recap on the whole series in my next post. Etna Station is the final destination for Mike, BT, and the group. They have battled the dead, other groups, war lords, and vampires to get to a safe home. Now, with most of the battles behind them, they have made it.
The biggest issue is the repetitiveness of the work. A good editor would point out that a writer used the same key word seven times in a paragraph. Not in dialogue, mind you, where someone could get away with it, but in the narrative. There are other issues that came up in earlier work though the information was fixed later on.
I do miss the closure of one major plot issue. Two protagonists disappeared making it open for another book.
One big question is why two epilogues? Could the whole thing not be tied up in one? It appeared one could have flowed between them and came up with something to close it off. But then again, sometimes it is better to leave things dangling.
If you enjoy action based books with a tongue in cheek type writing style you'll enjoy Etna Station, but make sure you pick up and read the prior works beforehand.
Talbot's back! Can never get enough of the whole gang, even Mrs. Deneux (in a creepy, old, chain-smoking grim reaper kinda way.) The group is headed out west, leaving the family stronghold in Maine for good this time. Naturally, all hell and hot messes follow suit. The surviving member of the beatifull/deadly/pschotic vampire trio is biding her time as she waits for her golden opportunity to exact her revenge on Mike, like everyone else in the universe. But, before she can get hers, Knox, a dumbass with designs on ruling the land catches up to Mike for his own obsessive payback. Add to all this, the humor, blood, violence, tension, love and, of course THE ZOMBIES (who are getting smarter).
Even as this one lasted decently long, I still feel like it flew by, and here I am again waiting on the next one. Tufo could be on book 52 in the series and I'd still be mad at him for not writing faster.
Just finished this book and I was struck (more a slap to the back of my head) with the crossover with The Nightlord series which I finished book 6 Mobius 2 months ago that introduced me to this world of Mike’s which I thought was just another reality the Eric (the main character in the Nighlord series) my brain never connected the two until Mike an company meet Eric at the end of Edna station (hence the slap to the back of my head, LOL) so if you love zombie fallout then I highly recommend the Nightlord series by Garon Whited to find out who Eric is if not just for the joy of reading another great series! I apologize for the rant but if you can’t rant about books you love then what can you! Thanks guy’s for the great work that you do!
From a very grateful fan

I love zombie fallout. Mike Talbot is my hero. This story has been with me for years and hopefully will continue for many more . Thanks Mark Tufo for keeping the story going;
Michael Talbot and his family has thus far survived zombie and vampire attacks in this new reality. They have lost many loves ones along the way, and they decide to seek safety at Etna Station. From Eliza's fellow vampires (excluding Tommy) to the different types of zombies to the prickhead known as Knox, which threat could possibly keep Mike, BT, and the rest from possible safety? It has been about a year since I visited the Talbot Clan, but as always before, I tore through the book like a zombie through flesh, always hungry for more. Tufo has a real gift for the gore of horror! °°°°°°°°°°°°° ★★★★★ °°°°°°°°°°°°° "'I'd rather be eating a Pop-Tart,' he replied. 'I've seen some of the flavors you dig up; this is safer.' 'If you say so, but that eggplant filled, hollandaise-sauce glazed one was out of this world.'" -Mark Tufo, "Zombie Fallout 11: Etna Station" °°°°°°°°°°°°° #bookstagram #instabook #bookphotagraphy #librarian #igbooks #ilovereading #bookhoarder #bookaddiction #bookstoread #whattoread #fortheloveofbooks #bookblogging #bookpics #bookrecs #bookreviews #booknerd #bookpictures #audiobook #justread #bibliophile #marktufo #zombiefallout #zombiefallout11 #etnastation #horror #zombie #postapocalyptic #gore
Mark Tufo has done it again! Mike and his family (blood related, extended, furry friends and Deneaux) set out in hopes of finding potential sanctuary/sense of normalcy in their ever changing world. The group and reader are met with former foes as well as the increasingly adapting zombies. If not for the lighthearted banter between the Talbot’s, BT and new friends-I would’ve had permanent goosebumps or worry lines from the situations they found themselves in. I listened to this story through Audible, as I have the previous books in the series, thankful for the talented Sean Runnette for bringing Tufo’s characters to life. If you find yourself stuck in a rut-particularly regarding zombies/monsters-this is the series for you. You can’t go wrong with lovable characters, realistic apocalyptic obstacles, worthy adversaries, entertaining dialogue and tons of zombie action.
Oh, how I have missed Michael Talbot! Somehow I didn't realize book #11 had been released until I got the notice about #12, so it's been an especially long time since I've read any Zombie Fallout. (Can't figure that out either since I supposedly get emails AND FB notices from Tufo. I guess you miss things if you don't check your social media often enough.) If I ever have to go through a zombie apocalypse, I want to do it with Michael Talbot and his whole zany crew. I'd probably laugh myself to death before I'd get eaten by a zombie! Mark Tufo, I just love the way your brain works. Just keep churning out your wonderful, crazy stories. Now, on to book #12 for me! Ta ta!
This book managed to pack so much in its pages as the Talbot crew continues on their roadtrip to Etna Station. Standing off to zombies, vampires, rats and generally awful people (I'm looking at you, Knox), the journey could not feasibly be much harder than it turns out to be. It's evident again something cosmic is going on as it is ominously foretold that because of a decision people that should not die are killed and those that should die live.
I laughed at arguably the most funny part of the series and cried at some intensely sad points. This is one of the best books in the series so far hands down.
Author: Mark Tufo 360 pages: Audiobook - 10hrs 32mins
A race across a zombie-infested wasteland, where no one, not even fan-favorite characters, is safe. This installment hit me hard. It left me feeling empty and frustrated… but in that perfectly Mark Tufo way. I knew the crew was heading into the spin cycle, but come on, Mark, give poor Mike’s mental health a break! The tension is non-stop, and the sense of loss in this book is massive.
Still, I loved every minute of it.
The emotional toll, the nonstop action, the dark humor, and the bond between characters make this entry unforgettable. I’m only about halfway through the series as it stands now, but I’m fully invested and rooting for Mike, BT, Tracy, Lindsey, and their ragtag crew of survivors. This world may be crawling with the dead, but the heart of the story is alive and kicking.
Mark Tufo gets it! There’s zombies, vampires , super zombies , psychopaths and other monsters that go bump in the night! Throw in some hilarious humor and camaraderie, & you have an amazing zom series!! I’ve read series 1 through 7 twice. First time reading these last books but no disappointment here. Tufo just keeps me laughing while at the same time, sitting on the edge my seat wondering what’s going to happen next. High five Mark Tufo!!
I normally read Mark's books in one sitting, but this time I've read it whilst moving house, (the horror of no internet for a week😥) and the disaster of dropping my tablet and smashing it (the curse of Arthritis) Anyway, Mark is a great author, so read his books if you like sarcasm, brilliant friendships, and zombies!!!!!!
I have an condition: when I start a series, and I get invested in the characters, I must MUST follow through to conclusion. Not all books in a series are 3 stars or more and I sometimes wonder if authors count on loyalty and coast in the middle of the series. Anywho, series complete? I’m thinking not so now we wait
What can I say other than Mr. Tufo does it again. The dynamics between each of the characters is absolutely flawless and even though you want to hate her, again saves those who you want to live. Thank you Mark for writing such a enthralling series that captivated me from the day that I heard the words "Some A$$hole is licking my peephole" uttered from Sean Runnette.
I have really enjoyed the Zombie Fallout series. Always on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what the Talbot family will do next. I wish they were longer that's my only complaint and really only because I can read these books in a day and I don't want them to end!!! I recommend these to everybody! Cannot wait for the next one!
So glad Mark decided to write book 11. As Alan I enjoyed the ongoing adventures of the Talbot Klan, even Denaux. Fallout 11 leaves the path open for continuation of the Fallout series. I've read the Lycan series, so if Mark continues the series he'll have to tie them together. Enjoyed the ride. Thanks Mark.
This one is a real joy ride through hell. The tension in this episode is really ratcheted up. Mike and his group go through so much danger and endure so much tragedy that you wonder if this will be his end. Don't give up on Talbot yet though. He's a tough a one to beat.
Holy crap! This story just gets better and better! Between Knox and his army and the vampires out for Mike…is there anyone else that wants him dead? I am really curious what is going to come up with the zombie baby. And does our trusty group ever find out what happened to Trip?? Can they finally catch a break? Off to book 12
From the first time we read one of Mark Rico's books, we were hooked. All of his books have been page turners leaving you wanting to read more. The action, horror, and humor are top notch, and would highly recommend not only this book, but all his other ones too.
