Alfonzo #27

Arraignment

Rate this book
"Volume 27 is a celebration of over 20 years since the birth of ALFONZO. The continuation of lawlessness, tragedy and love pays homage to Alfonzo and his extended family." -S.W. Frank

ALFONZO and Selange Diaz have recently returned to New York’s hustle and bustle. Finding time for a date night is important and Alfonzo figures an evening at the Opera is worth the ticket, if it gets him alone time with his Babe. Ironic, trouble is in finery with a bigoted tongue seated among African wood used to enhance acoustics. And the drama is an embellishment to remind a happy couple of the fragility of freedom. Alfonzo and Selange’s beautiful love song, turns into a climb up Lucifer’s leg to escape a charge and cope with an unexpected family tragedy.

"In an ideal world, fairness is a virtue. In the real world, fair-play is an ideal." --Selange Diaz

Whew!!!

This installment was the best I've read in a long while. I knew moving back to the states would be challenging for the Diaz clan. All the money and power in the world mean nothing if your skin is black or brown, but the Giacantis always prevail. Thank you, SW Frank for keeping it real while making it entertaining.

Reading this book was like being hooked up to a electrical system and overloaded with emotions through every single word, syllable and phrase that I read. Ms. S.W. Frank possesses something that is very unique and that I can only ascribe to a handful of authors that I have been blessed to read. She has a gift that allows her to infuse what is going on in our every day reality in a way that doesn't come across as preachy, judgmental, or overly invasive. At the very crux of this epic storyline these people are FAMILY!! Take away the bigger than life action, the running of an international conglomerate and Al is just a man. Albeit, a sexy man that inhabits my dreams, but alas, he is only A MAN. He loves his wife, he loves his children, he suffers from regret and he wants to be the solution to some of life's ills instead of an ever evolving problem. The issue with all of these honorable wishes is that the game is rigged. The die was cast long before he was born and as a result he is a player in a game that is set up for him to fail. The beauty of this however, is that he is such a formidable player surrounded by soldiers and knights that have the same mindset that he has that there is no way he can lose. What he has that no other like him has is his Queen Selange. She is the sun, she is brightness, she is that beautiful person who I've said before is Al's piece of peace BUTTTT when the chips begin to fall and her family becomes the target of this crooked game, Selange possesses the capability to dig into a dark place to protect her king and her family. As mentioned before I experienced a gamut of emotions while reading this book. I cried, I screamed, I cursed, and I damned Yosef's soul to the depths of HELL!!! Every single time I thought I had things figured out and could simplify the actions of the characters Ms. Frank threw in a twist or had my mind racing with the infinite possibilities of what could possibly happen next to this family as they progress. Honestly, I feel as if every single one of these characters are a part of me. I've taken this ride with Ms. Frank from the very beginning and I will continue to do so as long as God gives her the ability to craft these WONDERFUL story lines. Am I completely satisfied?? Nope not even. I'm a gluttunous individual that is sitting at the table stuffed full but still clamoring for more. SO sue me!! I NEED MORE!!! I need much much more. I can not bear the thought that this series will EVER come to an end because then where will I turn?? Where will I go to get my incurable fix of perfection?? No one else satisfies my thirst and need for more like Ms. Frank and until these eyes get weary and the brain ceases to interpret the plots, and meaning behind the words I will forever want to read more about my FAVORITE FICTIONAL FAMILY!!!

Even when this family is trying to just live their lives, something or someone seems to always be lurking just around the corner to wreak havoc on their peace of mind. Without giving to much of the story away, book 27 is an emotional ride for the diehard fans. Even if you're new to the Diaz-Giancanti family you're going to find it very hard not to shed a few tears. For those of us who have been along for the ride for the entire 27 books, you know that Ms Frank has a way of making you fall in love with these characters and getting so attached that when something happens to one of them, you feel what they are feeling, the joy, the anger, and the need for vengeance. Volume 27 is no different. One thing the many enemies of this family need to understand, they may fall and you may even take some of them out, but for every strike you make against them, you better be prepared for the many that will come back at you. I loved it and I'm already patiently waiting for my next fix of Alfonzo and the family.

From the first book in the series until now, it never gets old. SW Frank is one of the best writers who should get some kind of movie or HBO series deal for the Alphonso series. Just like our criminal justice system, there is so much disparity in minority writers. Nothing against “Fifty Shades this Grey” which I have read all the books, but it does not even touch the complexity of how well written the Alphonso series is and how I’m left breathless and on the edge of me seat. It is even intricate how each day title begins with an A. The latest installment leaves me sad as some of the Diaz clan is killed. All I can say is watch out Yousef because your days are numbered. Waiting for the next installment and if I ever get big money, I will definitely help see Alphonso brought to the big screen or cable. Sorry autocorrect changes the z in Alphonso’s name to an s.

Yeah It's Good!!

In order to have blue skies you must endure the rain.I have no words how good this story was.I love when a series settles into itself, and you get to see inside the lives and you get a believable character and story.I love that once, again the writer shows us the depth of the inner workings of this family.I however would have liked a longer story but then I never want it to end.I get we get to see a glimpse of the human in Nicole, but he is so good of a character when he is ruthless and that is what we need from a man who has given all of himself to this family. In the next installment we need to see a family recovering and dealing with the aftermath.I need too see the gangster squad come out and handle business! Also I think its time Nicole let up on Sergio, and its ok to have a mild crush on Ari.This was exactly what I needed in world of books another good story and great addition to a fantastic series.

Disappointed…
I was soooo disappointed in this one. There’s been a couple that were boring or lacked any new details but this one was just too boring. I’m thinking something was really going to come back and actually have me on edge about Al getting off but the issue was so lame I was just disappointed. All the scenery and fluff was back to being over the top as well so I was over it.

I did like the situation with Selange stepping up but I think she’s going to go back to being the dumb blonde again like her character has done in the past. Hopefully the next one will be something for move forward with because this one fell short.

Heartbreaking

I've been here through it all with this family's saga but this one hurt me the most. I felt every single emotion of every single family member and it about crushed me.

The injustice, the impotence we feel when the miscarriage of justice is so blatant, the pain and rage of not being able to protect your family, saying goodbye to your loved ones.... I'm bawling while I type.

Bravo Ms. Frank.... Bravo.

Catching up with my favorite family......

I was so happy to catch up with my favorite Diaz-Giacanti family. I absolutely love me some Nico but a few times in this book he made me upset. It was full of action, drama and suspense. I cannot wait until the next book to find out what happens next.

Again I was captivated by the story as I was 26 times before. The characters are really intriguing and the storyline is this never ending feeling of wanting to turn another page and than realising you are at the end of the book. Ahhh I want more..... I want to know if revenge is served hot or cold. I hope volume 28 will be released soon....

Wow!!!!

My only real complaint is that this book wasn't long enough. There were a few typo's, nothing to serious. I love this series. I also like it that it seems the kids are growing up with every continuing book. Keep the great stories coming!!!!

The Killings

More good people gone. This one was mostly sad and maddening. The Just-Us system was shown loud an clear in this book. I wonder how Andre will come out on this one, since he's a cool on scene of a crime?
Great stories though.

Can my husband family get a break

All I can say for book number 27 is can my husband family get a break. We catch up with the Diaz-Giacanti Family and they are back on the US soil. It is a change for them for the simple fact they left a place where they were judged and dislike because of their status of being in the mob and the fact they were royalty when they should have been so people said. To come back to their home country and the are being judged because of their skin color and status that some people feel that they shouldn't has AKA they should know their place and stay there. This book makes you look at some hard truths and will constantly have you taking a hard look around your inner truths to see if you should take the high road or the low because of you don't have a strong foundation even the hardest killers will be shedding tears of not being able to be all to everybody.

I want more!!!

No... I need more, just when everything is going good, the story ends. K need these books to be pinged. OMG...I just love the Diaz/Giacanti famiglia. Just don't mess with that family, but people have not learned, they mess with them anyway, when they are just minding their own business. I was so upset to read of the massacre. I cried like someone in my family died. That was so upsetting to read. The mark of a good writer is to draw the reader in with strong feelings and the author did just that. I have a feeling that people will be paying for what happened in the next book and I predict that Yosef will be in the crosshairs.

I miss reading about Geo and Shanda in this book. I would have love to read about their interactions since they are newly weds. I still love the chemistry between Al and Selange and Nicco and Arie. I'm glad to read that Nicco still has his act together and is determined to do good by his wife.
