Fairy Tale Heat #5

The Goblin Cinderella

Rate this book
I didn’t want to fall in love with the prince. He’s a high elf, rich and handsome, and…well, there are rumors he dabbles in dark magic. I’m half-goblin and I know he’d never choose me as his bride in the first place. I just wanted my wicked stepsisters to see him dancing with me before I run away and leave this city forever, to start a new life.

But it seems my goblin godmother had other plans.

The spell she cast upon me? The one she told me would make the prince want to “dance" with me? The moment he touches me, I feel desire like I’ve never imagined. And I can tell he feels the same. I’m not sure this is the sort of dance I had in mind. We’re drawn together by magic—but can magic forge the bonds of true love?

And if it did…would be stepmother ever let me find happiness? My goblin godmother isn’t the only one with plans. It seems my stepmother is willing to lie, steal, and even kill to keep me from a happily ever after. But goblins are known for making trouble, and I’m ready for revenge.

The Goblin Cinderella is a standalone fairy tale retelling for those who like an unabashedly adorable happily ever after with a side of serious steaminess! (And a cameo or two by Beauty and her Goblin King!)

Lidiya Foxglove grew up on a steady diet of fairy tales, folklore and fantasy and also reads way too much manga. Fantasy romance is her favorite thing in the world, but she likes it steamy. She also loves cats and tea--it's cliche for a reason!

I enjoyed this take on Cinderella. I liked the world that was built and the people in it. Although the prince fell for her with a love potion and knew that it was a potion I feel I would have liked a bit more romance. Although i didn't like the step mother I liked the evil deeds as it helped to show that she was rotten to the core.

This was a quick, sexy, and fun book. It was so much better than the first three stories in the series. I skipped the fourth, so I can't speak for that one. There are several editing errors, but they are minor enough to look past.

It was a nice Cinderella retelling... It sometimes felt like the price was a bit reluctant to be with Cinderella...

it was sexy and fun, but i still preferred book 4 as my fave so far!

Most of the time, erotic fairy tale retellings are so busy being erotic that they breeze past the fairy tale elements just long enough to create a plausible reason for the rumpy-pumpy.

I like reading fairy-tale retellings periodically (especially Beauty & the Beast), and this series' BATB caught my eye. I am actually not in the mood (heh) for erotica these days so I skimmed the erotic portions of the story. The fairy tale portion is so well-constructed and well-told that if I hadn't seen the erotica with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed for a moment that these were erotic retellings. That's a compliment, in case you weren't sure.

The reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 is because I did feel like the one section of the story which takes place after the ball was somewhat rushed.

Lots of fun!

I love most twisted fairy tales and this one was joyful, a little steamy, and a perfect HEA. I look forward to reading more by this writer.

Cannot keep away from this series!

I did make the choice to read #5 ahead of #3 deliberately, and for personal (writing) reasons. I'll have to come back to #3 later.

As many of the spins on the Cinderella tale as I have read, and as often as one gets upset by the injustice of the stepmother and sisters, this one totally made me seethe. And for excellent reasons - you really want

This really goes from 0-60 fast, but no complaints on that at all.

I did miss a bit more of the development of the male character here though. It is a really clever device, to switch between the main characters's perspective (especially first-person), and with the last two books, so enjoyable to see the guy's side of things. Here, I felt Ithrin wasn't quite as fleshed out, although that didn't do anything to lessen the appeal of the character. Let's be honest, many of us have had mental fantasies of getting it on with someone that looks like Legolas, Celeborn, or Thranduil (not leaving Figwit/Lindir out here, either!). And I did so enjoy the moment of realizing Perhaps it was just because I really felt that Ellara had much more character development in this story.

Anyway, I'm not detracting any stars from this review, no no! Incredibly satisfying story, on so many levels. That healing potion scene alone - oooh!

Ahem. Yes, er - just a great re-telling! Really. Well-done!

The king of goblins married a human, so why would the prince of elves disdain to meet a beautiful half-breed goblin? Ellara just wants to flaunt herself a bit in front of her nasty step-sisters before she leaves town for the spice farm she inherited. Her witchy aunt shows up, waves her wand, and she joins the hundreds of eligible women at the match-making ball. The trouble is, neither she nor the prince expected the love spell whammy that was set off as their hands touched.

Luckily Prince Ithrin knows enough dark sorcery to find a quick antidote before things go too far, but it turns out that this tiny thing with horns under her curls is actually just what he wants in his life. But will he be able to tell her that one night isn't enough before her truly evil stepmother absconds with Ella's fortune and justifies it in the name of elvish racial purity? Can he summon up allies from beyond the grave?

This version of the tale ratchets up the action and suspense levels as well as the amount of sensuality. Five stars.

I was able to get a copy of this book for free and while it wasn’t bad, I would have been disappointed if I had had to pay for it. The Goblin Cinderella is obviously a different take on Cinderella but still follows the narrative pretty closely. I liked the build up to the Ball but afterwards it was rushed and incredibly obvious that the author was setting up characters for two other books. While I understand authors wanting to create a world, each of these books could be a stand alone with little Easter Eggs in them for loyal readers. Plus I don’t like when authors add characters for the sole intention of another story but that is personal preference.

Really enjoyed this one just wish it had more to the ending and before the ending. A spoiled princess who also writes under another name get a letter that critics her book bit how this person know how to find her . To the princess the send insults her but het enjoys her novels.

At a ball her father sets up for her to pick a husband she is picky and rude to all suitors before especially to king of the wood elves dubbing him a nick name to insult him. Her father know she never wished to wed but he has had enough. With a trick up his sleeve with the help of the wood elf king he teaches his. Daughter a lesson. Goos book loved and enjoyed

So of all the Fairy tale heat books, this is my favorite BY FAR. I loved the characters, loved the tension between the two when they first met and by golly gee, the scene where Cinderella gets her horns cut off almost had me in tears!!!

Such a good book!!

Fairytale retelling that brings a plot with the spice

Read as a stand alone, even though it's sold as book 5 of a series. Recommended for fans of fae romance like ACOTAR. It has a plot with original twists mixed with the more violent elements of the original story that was eliminated in modern retellings.

Absolutely a must read

When I First started reading this book I didn't think that it would be very good at all. But after getting into it and reading a few chapters I sat and read the whole book all at one time . Definitely a very well-written spin on the Cinderella fairytale.

This Cinderella was a lot less sticky sweet than the traditional vein. Her goblin sense of mischief does come with a well developed sense of justice, so I think that she would be a fun queen. I'm hoping that we get more vignettes of this couple!

What a cute version of Cinderella! Not as many erotic scenes as the first book which makes it a little more sweet and enjoyable. Makes the reader focus more on the events of the story. Beautifully written.

this was a lot of fun, a different take on the Cinderella retelling. All the main points are in there, with little twists. I would love to read more about these other characters, my interest was piqued in how they were written. And surprise sexiness!! I didn't expect to see that!

A dark and erotic retelling of Cinderella

A dark and erotic retelling of the fairy story as only Lidiya can do it. It also included characters from previous books thereby linking the series. Much darker than the previous books which were written in a more lighter vein.

An interesting interpretation of the original Cinderella tale. It's relatively short so it sometimes feels like things just happen to work out with perfect coincidences, but overall enjoyable writing.

Very enjoyable

I read A LOT of fairy tale retellings, but this one manages to set itself apart, while giving the old story beats new context. Fun, magical romp with a touch of steam.

Palette cleansers

Whenever I get into a reading slump, I turn to these books because I know they'll pull me back. I love Lidiyas writing style and the quick and creative retellings of classic fairy tales. As many retellings I've read out there, these are always my favorites.

shorter than I'd like

But full of details, and some mystery. Parts made me cringe as it was a little rough but overall a cute little story.

Cute

This was a cute hot little story. The rebel in me wishes she didn't give up so quickly, but hey I'm not mad. She was under a spell.
