Twenty-six-year-old Zachary "Axe" Knox knows that with a face like his no one is going to love him. He knows that he is going to be alone forever, so why bother trying to find someone to fall in love with? He's okay with being alone. He likes it. Axe spends his days riding his bike and working at Thorns and Roses Ink, and he spends his nights with different men and women. Never the same man or woman twice. That is until Mason Dewitt comes along. From the second Axe sees Mason he knows that the twenty-one-year-old is going to turn his entire world upside down, and Axe is not prepared for it. Nothing could have prepared him for the clumsy man with teal eyes awakening feelings in him that he didn't even know he had.
Axe suggests that they be friends with benefits, it's not exactly what Mason is looking for with Axe, but he's willing to do anything as long as it means he is in Axe's bed, but soon Mason's feelings become too much, and he knows that being just friends with benefits is not enough, he wants more. He doesn't just want to be with Axe on a physical level, he wants to be with Axe on every level; he wants a relationship. Mason knows that there is more to Axe than the surly attitude and scars and the violent past that shaped Axe into the unsmiling, unhappy man who believes he's not good enough to be in a relationship with Mason. Mason wants to show Axe that he is a man that deserves his love....if only Axe will stop pushing him away, and embrace the feelings that he is starting to feel for Mason.
Hi, I'm Nicki. When I'm not writing the latest erotic fantasy that pops in my head, I am cooking, reading, watching movies or traveling. I write mostly short erotic stories featuring LGBTQIA+ characters. I like my stories to be about men and women who find love in each other, and can explore their sexual natures together. Sometimes my stories have a little BDSM, sometimes they are a little more...vanilla. I like to represent a wide variety of characters in my stories, that way there is something for everyone within the pages of my stories. But don't worry there is always a happy ending.
Not really a very good book and I did feel a little lost without reading the others even though it says they are stand alone.
On the positive side.... some of the sex scenes were pretty hawt and the relationship dynamic was compelling. Had there been more of them like the first few it would have helped.
On the negative side...the sex scenes taper off and aren't as dynamic as they started off. They become more telling than showing and skim over the whole d/s bedroom dynamic they start. Additionally. the weird, wrong word choices, made up words and over use of some words and terms irritated me tremendously. Add in the Tina plot twist which was absurd and unnecessary when Axe and Mason had plenty of other relationship avenues that could have been explored.
I have to conclude that this is a bit unbalanced and could have been better. In fact, it should have been longer, too.
This is my second book by Nicki Row. I love her stories. They could use a little better editor, but I can overlook that for the excellent storytelling.
Explosive and touching, exactly what you want in a read!!!
So many times you come across a book with so much potential but it just bombs. This book was explosive in all the right ways. The chemistry between the main characters, their push and pull, was what made this a five star rating. Yes the heat between them was great but the sass flying back and forth made me unable to put the book down. And not to mention i am a complete sucker for a wounded soul who heals. The journey Axe takes was touching. There are so many reasons why to read this book. It is worth the read!
This story was just an ok read for me. The whole moving Tina in because she was pregnant was weird to me especially since Axe's relationship with Mason was still in the early stages hell I could have done without the whole Tina thing.
