I think the first page tells you so much about this book. The author’s publisher asked if Jones would write an instant pot book and she did but really just did recipes that she thought would work. Most of the recipes in this book are not really instant pot recipes. I was disappointed with this book.
The photos are good, but not all the recipes have them. The recipes seem easy to follow, but I didn't get around to cooking them because the library needed the book back.
Having said that, my main gripe with the book is that the portion sizes varied greatly from 1/2 cup to 1 1/4 cup and several of the recipes calls for sides of some kind to be a complete meal. When it comes down to it, the weight loss essentially comes down to portion control, I just wish there was consistency to what makes a portion.
I saw Audrey on a talk show and was impressed that she lost 150 pounds and is keeping it off using her instant pot. My library did not have her book, so I got it through interlibrary loan. While she has 10 chapters from breakfast to sweets and treats, my favorite was the "Shred it your way." Audrey says that "She loved that she could cook a ton of protein at the beginning of the week and use it throughout the week for fast and easy meals." But that's not all, her recipes for pork, chicken or beef can be used in the wraps, pitas, tacos, sandwiches, tostadas, and rigatoni recipes.
I have not yet used my Instant pot as I am prone to accidents, but I think that I will have the courage to try it because Audrey has such good instructions. I will do a follow up when I try some of the recipes.
I haven't made any of the recipes yet but quite a few are earmarked to try. I was attracted to the book because of the name. The IP is great for getting dinner on the table quickly & if I can make recipes that sound good & lose weight at the same time, I'm absolutely on board.
I didn't get to try any of the recipes before it was due back at the library but this looked like a good cookbook. I wish there had been more about the author but it was an okay book.
I enjoyed reading through these recipes! Many (but not all) had accompanying photographs. I read the Kindle edition, but may purchase the print (my preference for the kitchen).
