Just as fast paced as the first, even more tropey LOL
The constant action is fine but the constant crisis situations become a bit tedious and decreases the tension that could be there. It's predictable, so you already know that everything is going to work out.

There's some decent zombie action and I have enjoyed Jen's character development.

Decent, again giving plenty of latitude for the genre. Everything is always in crisis mode and everything is constantly going wrong to the point that the tension that should be created dissipates. There is a core cadre of characters who don't all die off like the first book, but the slow attrition of the team follows a predictable pattern.
More things to stop putting in zombie novels:
--Groups of people who are irrationally territorial and thus hold vendettas against people sharing the same space
--Assuming "nuclear option" is always literal
--The living being infected with some latent version of the virus.

I know this is only book #2, but I’m really enjoying this series so far!! 😀 I’m a sucker for zombie stories. Classic zombies are some of my faves. ❤
The Gauntlet is a classic zombie big city plot. The story picks up right around where we left off in book #1. Now Jen finds herself trying to get out of the city. Lots of great zombie action!! Lots of homage to Dawn of the Dead it feels like. 🙂 I had so much fun seeing what would happen next.
Even though it is classic zombies, there are a few nice twists with the zombies as well. Yay for zombie animals!! 😀 I love zombie animals!! There are also some nice hints at the zombie behavior(s) evolving? Uh oh spaghetti o’s!!! I think things are about to get reaaaaallllll bad for the humans in the next few books. 😮 We also learn a little bit about what is going on as to why there are zombies. Yay! Answers! Kinda!
The action is go, go, go!! There is rarely any down time at all. The pacing is quick and once again I was shocked the book was over so soon. Did not feel like 5 hours at all.
The Gauntlet is a super fun #2 in this series. Never a dull moment. I can’t wait to see what will go down next. 😮

Still Running At Top Speed, What A Ride!
I wrote my review on the first book in this series early this a.m. Now I'm presenting book number two. The pace is astounding, and even greater wss the pull to keep reading! Our main character is still with us from her first introduction at "ground zero" in Alaska. Jen is a kick but, smart alec type, Alpha female. Love all her works and the fact she retains her vulnerability, too. We pick up some more characters, each unique and fascinating. The zombies plus the virus itself continues its rampage as we get to know the ever growing scope of impact on the State of Alaska, and it's inhabitants. Lots of surprises!!
I haven't read this day since i was securing books at an alarming rate in my teen years. Back in the days when I'd finish a paperback just bought that day, smile, and go back to page one for another spin.
Read this book, the first one, and the next. Plus any others that follow. Ok, on to book three! ENJOY!

Still lovely straightforward but a little less gory since we follow Jenn and her buddies through Anchorage in a timed race, with failure meaning certain death for all of them, will they make it?
This felt quite a bit longer, mainly because there's a lot of running/sneaking etc happening and lots of "which way to choose" talks but there are some great one person against a horde moments that were written well and were fun to read.
Jenn is slowly getting a bit more life to her as her background and reasoning are filled in a tiny bit more, the companions are still mostly, just that and not much else, which isn't bad perse.
tbh, Jenn is getting a tiny bit on my nerves and I'm pissed one of the characters died that I was rooting for so I'm taking a break on this series.

Zombie Uprising Series
A zombie series that evolves in each book. Jen remains an active character from the first book, as well as, a strong heroine. New characters to follow are introduced. The spread of the virus is linked to an airborne vector and the zombies. The rapidity of outbreak is realized. The mistakes of poor planning to prevent spread and save lives is evident. The ability to think quickly and change mindset to survive is essential in the characters who do make through the gauntlet. The book is entertaining and a fast read. The characters are memorable and manage to gain your interest in their survival. I usually like a more indepth tale, but this is fun and keeps my attention. I will continue to read this series.

Good Series
I accidentally read Book 3 before reading this part. No worries though, I saw how Jen met up with Mark, Zeke and Grant. Also found out who Doc was. I enjoyed this because they were going through all sorts of things while trying to get Doc to his destination. Book2 had lots of excitement and action. Surprisingly, Jen seemed to find humor running from the zombies. I was in tears when she handled her father and then that scene with Doc though. Now I'm all excited about book 4. I am hooked now.

Nice start but...
The story all to rapidly falls victim to relative close calls saved by almost miraculous good fortune. Chased by zombies? Not to worry because the only car in sight will have the keys in the sun screen. Too bad it has only enough gas to go a mile. That's not a problem though because someone will appear out of nowhere to give you a lift. When the entire book seems to be a series of misfortunes saved by unbelievable good fortune that rapidly degrade into another crisis you just want it to end.

I’m loving this series! This book picks up 24 hrs after the military picks up the 2 remaining survivors of this isolated Alaskan town that has been overrun by zombies. Jen wakes up at a military facility where she is asked for her help. She finds her father has turned and is used as a guinea pig. She befriends one the scientist that asks for her help. Meanwhile the whole city has been over run by zombies. The government is attempting to extract medical team in Alaska to gather more information and possible cure. And the non stop action begins. Moving on to the 3rd book!!!!

Good book, I did find I did find certain sections where they are trying to evade the undead abit dragging. Why not double back like they did in the first book - its not like the undead are rocket scientists?! Also, the adding in the zombie wildlife -perfect touch! Because everyone needs to be chased by a zombie moose at least once in their nightmares! If Anchorage was lost and it had spread to the wildlife, I think the government would just nuke the whole state not just one city.

Action and Great Characters
This is zombies series is action packed and I love the characters. The zombies are changing and becoming more intelligent, so Jen, Mark, and her group must come up with new tactics to stay alive. A new character Zeke is introduced and is a fun addition. Looking forward to Book 3!

The second book of this series will have you gripping the arms of your chair as you breathlessly outmaneuver the hordes of zombies with Jen and the gang. This is part 2 of a 5 part book from what I can tell. Same as book one. Fun zombie book but there are a lot of “nope that wouldn’t have happened” moments. The “good guys” are just too knowledgeable too quickly. Also, they make some bad decisions that get people killed but still insist on being stubborn.

Loved it! A strong female lead who's not a bitch. Every page I turned, there was more action, and I didn't know what was going to happen next. The title says it all - Jen and her friends were definitely running a gauntlet. Can't wait to read more and find out what happens next.

Well these zombie stories are really starting to grow on me a bit I have to say. Getting better book by book. It starts slowly again and then draws you in until you find yourself engrossed. Recommended.

This is book 2 in the Zombie Uprisung Series. I loved biik 1...and this one just leaves me wanting more.
The characters are entertaining and so real. The action is jam-packed, and you just don't want to put the book down.

Good book
Good book. Well written. But, typical zombie survivor book. I got bored about 65% into book. I would recommend this book, however. Just for me, I read lots of zombie stuff and was hoping for something not so typical.

This is all just becoming one big monotone fighting scene without much of a plot, but at least you know what you're getting. The main character, AKA the only character you spend enough time with to get to know them, is getting on my nerves. It's the catch phrases I think.

Just like the Awakening very action packed book. Great characters. Just loved how well the characters were developed and how they got along. Most definitely recommend this series to friend's.
