It’s been two months since Rune Leveau, aka Anna Masterson, survived the machinations of the Kodiak corporation and things have been relatively peaceful in the iconic bar, the Lucky Devil.
The peace couldn’t last.
The corporate entities that rule her Chicago are not through with the Finder yet and the other powers-that-be don’t intend to be left in the dust. The key is finding the Masterson Files, a computer program with the impossible ability to cast magic. Now the Magic Guild is wanting a word with her and as trouble in the form of the Faerie King converges at her bar, Rune finds herself in the center of warring factions battling it out with bullets and magic.
Which is exactly the right moment for the cybernetically augmented corporate spy, St. Benedict to come back into her life. But can these two survive the lies that lay between them? More importantly, can Rune get the Saint of Liars to help her answer the one question she’s burning to where is Justin Masterson?

I really enjoyed this book more than I did the first one. We got to meet some new faces, and reconnect with a lot of characters from the first book- as well as expanding the world building that mixes in magic and technology.
I was also glad to see Rune growing more into her role as the head of her House and learn more about her magic.
Plus I was enjoying St. Benedicts character a bit more this time around bc he wasn't as much of a jerk...more or less. But I'm still a bit confused
Rune Leveau thought she understood who she was, but when she gets attacked in an alley and saved by the cyberspy St. Benedict, questions from her past come rearing back to plague her.
Her cousin shows up and has a few answers, but before Rune can really understand her abilities, they are pulled into a mysterious conflict centered around the lost work of Rune's ex-husband.
In this follow-up to The Finder of the Lucky Devil, magic and technology collide and merge in a way I've never seen. Corporations are racing to unlock a technology that would allow computers to cast magic spells, thus leveling the field and making magic users obsolete. Is that a power anyone should rightly have? And what price must be paid to develop it?
At the heart of this war of industry hangs the misery of the broken-hearted. The fate of all magic beings depends on the fragile relationships of a small group. Our heroes must travel into a magically enhanced virtual reality and find the source of its manifestation. If they can work out their differences and work together, if they can set aside their feelings and focus on their destiny, they might find a way to survive this mission. Unless computer viruses destroy them first.
This book was a lot of fun and a great cyberpunk that blends magic with technology in a modern-day Chicago setting. There's more than one tragic couple, and plenty of nail-biting tension.
The Saint of Liars is the second book in The Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie. I am absolutely loving this brilliant series! After falling in love with the first book, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this second instalment. I dove right in and devoured it in a day. It is definitely every bit as good as the first book, and there is no way that I could pick a favourite out of the two. The overarching storyline is spellbinding and full of intricate details and incredible world building. This is an urban fantasy with cyberpunk/neon-dystopia and paranormal elements. There is magic, action adventure, suspense, some mystery, drama, tension, chemistry, intrigue, danger, secrets, different realms….as well as a slew of mystical and mythical creatures. We are back with Rune Leveau at the Luck Devil Bar. We Met Rune in Book one when she had inherited the bar from her Aunt who had recently passed away. There is a lot more to Rune than meets the eye, even she isn’t fully aware of what she is capable of. She had traumatic past event that had forced her into changing her identity and keeping a low profile. But when a mysterious and sexy stranger turns up at the bar, her past catches up with her and her adventure begins. Saint Benedict is a corporate spy who is on the hunt for a programmer and some missing files. Little does he know that Rune has a much closer connection to the case than he could ever imagine. Circumstances throw these two together where they needed to work together to figure everything out, all the while trying to stay one step ahead of the sinister forces hell bent of getting their hands on the information first. This puts them in impossibly difficult and dangerous situations that will test them both- and put her life, and the fate of the Lucky Devil Bar, on the line. This story picks up two months after the events in book one. Rune is still coming to grips with everything that happened and hasn’t seen or heard from Saint Benedict since her revelation. But when assassins target her, Saint Benedict turns up and another new adventure begins- as they try stay out of the clutches of their evil foe, elude the assassins, and continue their search for the missing Masterson Files. Which results in some incredible, action paced reading. Ms. Mackie has delivered a rich, vibrant and vividly detailed story set in a cleverly constructed and interesting world. This is world building on a masterful level. The characters are truly brilliant- so well crafted and fully developed. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, but the story is so well written that I didn’t have any trouble keeping up. I loved how the characters grow and evolve as the story progresses. One of the better things to come out of the whole experience for Rune was that she ‘found’ herself and continues to discover new facets about herself and about her ‘abilities’. I couldn’t help but think how much of Tatiana’s story mirrored Runes. I love the chemistry between Rune and Saint Benedict, I really hope something comes from that. I have been guessing as to how their story will play out and I can’t wait to find out if I am right, or wrong. The only thing I felt was not as on point as the first book, and became a little confusing at times, was when one characters POV flowed right into another characters POV, without any lead in. But this minor issue didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. The story twists and turns, with lots of surprises and unexpected developments that had me on the edge of my seat in expectation. I really can’t wait to continue this story/series…. I sooooo hope there is a book three!!!!!!!! I can’t recommend this story and author highly enough. You really should read it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!!!
The Saint of Liars (Lucky Devil Series Book 2) By: Megan Mackie 5 out of 5 stars
The story The Saint of Liars (Lucky Devil Series Book 2) by Megan Mackie is an urban/fantasy book. It once again has the characters of Rune Leveau and St. Benedict back together and facing dangerous situations. This story has action, adventure and had me turning pages to find out what happens next. I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the last page. Just when Rune believes that the most she has to worry about is keeping up the appearance of her bar, Lucky Devil, she again finds herself being pulled into a situation that poses danger for her and all those involved. There are questions that need to be answered and mysteries that need to be solved. Will St. Benedict be able to keep Rune safe as he promised he would? Will an all-out war between opposing sides be averted? Will Rune finally find the answer to the question of where Justin Masterson is? This is a story that blends together the world of magic and technology. It also shows the differences between the sides that wields them. This story also does give you a deeper look into both Rune and St. Benedict’s characters. As the story progresses you read about their thoughts and feelings. There are times when Rune experiences doubts and others when she must adapt to ever-changing circumstances. There is also a constant push and pull of emotions between Rune and St. Benedict. There are some characters that are carried to this book from the first one and other new ones that I enjoyed reading about. I personally would read this series in order as I found it made my reading experience smoother. Don’t miss out on a story with adventure, magic, and even a little romance.
The Saint of Liars by Megan Mackie a thrilling five-star read. This is the second book in the Lucky Devil series. I have read the first book, so I don’t know if you could read it as stand-alone, I would say read the series mind as it is a very good series. Rune is a great character and one who will pull you into her story, she will make you want to keep reading to find out more of her story. This author has somehow managed to create an environment with lots going on and lots of influences but still manages to keep you hooked and understanding what’s happening and keeping up to date with it all. Saint Benedict aww what can we say about him, he has his own story and what a story is he too complicated to be with Rune? Or will they be difficult enough that they balance each other out. Thank you once again for a great story.
The Saint of Liars is the second book in the Lucky Devil series. I highly recommend reading the first book before you read this one to get a good grasp of the characters and events that set this book up. Plus, the first book is an amazing read too. I truly love the blend of tech and magic in this series. In Saint of Liars, Rune discovers more about her abilities, which is a fascinating aspect of the story line. The tension between St. Benedict and Rune is nearly palpable. I’ll be interested to see how that plays out in future installments. St. Rachel is kind of a person I love to hate. Well, not hate really, but she keeps throwing a wrench in the potential romantic works. This book is a stellar read! Highly recommend it.
This is the second book in this series. I enjoyed this one as much as the first one if not a little more. In this installment Rune continues to try to hide her past and is now in search of her ex-husband's secrets. Then you have Saint Benedict added to the mix. Things start heating up and so does the danger. This story pulled me in right from the beginning. The characters are strong but both carry emotional damage which makes them great characters. I highly recommend this book.
This book is a great continuation of the first. Again, the cover is off-putting. The story is great. Mackie shows that she's grown in her writing of those chaotic moments. Only once did I have to stop and go back to reread to see what I was missing. Another great tale that I didn't want to put down. Now I just need to get the rest of them.
Loved this book! Loved the growth in strength that Rune went thru. From fearing her own shadow to finally letting go of her feelings for Justin. To embracing her powers and being ok with it. I hope there are more books in the future!!
In her first book, “Finder of the Lucky Devil”, Megan Mackie introduced us to her alternate Chicago. It's a place where technology and magic exist side-by-side, but the balance is shifting. With technology becoming more and more like magic, those who wield the older power face a bleak future. Corporations that virtually own their employees are consolidating their hold on the city, squeezing those they do not control out of power, or into their control. “Saint of Liars” begins where the earlier work left off. Newly made the head of an ancient magical house, Rune Leveau is struggling to find her place in the world of magic. She must deal with the pressures of keeping the seat of that house, the Lucky Devil bar, from going broke while learning to use her emerging magical powers. If that wasn't enough pressure, she finds herself enmeshed in the power struggles that are coming into the open. Old disagreements amongst the magic users threaten to shatter their last bit of political power in the face of corporations learn to use technology to work magic. But the corporations are far from united. Factions in their ranks are engaged in a covert revolt, fearing that a final consolidation of power in the hands of a few is at hand. Rune's sometimes love interest St. Benedict is back, and the two of them are soon working together to find out who is trying to kill Rune. Their efforts to solve that mystery takes then deep into Chicago's magical side, and uncovers a plot to develop a technology that would allow the non-magical to harness magic. Mackie's magic-noir Chicago may be populated by fantasy creatures, but the problems her protagonist faces, and the landscape she moves through, contain enough of modern reality to make the story believable. Her hero is not perfect, but her errors give her the feel of someone you might know in real life. Put all that into a story that draws you along with a relentless pace and you have a story that makes an ideal Summer read, or a good read any other time of the year. I am not sure if Ms. Mackie plans to write another book in her fantasy world, but I hope she does. I have enjoyed following her characters, and would not mind reading more of their story.
THE SAINT OF LIARS is the sequel to the incredibly good THE FINDER AT THE LUCKY DEVIL. The Lucky Devil series is about a young woman named Rune who is a trophy wife named June Masterson who reinvented herself after her abusive husband threw her under the bus for his crimes. Except, she has supernatural abilities like the power to find any object she wants and her adventures take place in a cyberpunk dystopia with fairies as well as wizardesses. Rune just wants to escape her past but can't as long as her ex-husband's files, which contained the secret of combining computers with magic, remain around.
The sequel reveals that Rune's ability to hide her past has been thoroughly compromised. Cyborg secret agent and occasional love interest, Saint Benedict, has informed his boss of her existence. His boss offers the protection of the Kodiak megacorporation in exchange for helping hunt down the Masterson Files. Rune doesn't trust the megacorporation as far as she can throw it, so things go poorly until she decides she wants to find out her ex-husband's secrets.
I am continually amazed at Megan Mackie's ability to weave fascinating stories that combine disparate genres like cyberpunk, urban fantasy, romance, and thrillers. Rune is a great protagonist and Saint Benedict is just the perfect love interest for her despite (or because) both of them carrying serious emotional baggage. I was a bit annoyed to find Kodiak wasn't just another megacorporation since I didn't think it needed to be a "good guy" group in order to be interesting. Despite this, I enjoyed meeting all of its crazy staff and characters.
The Lucky Devil series is a real find for fans of urban fantasy and I think it's probably my pick for self-published fantasy of 2018. I hope Megan Mackie continues to write this series for a good long time and it's amazing this isn't a "big five" creation.
The Saint of Liars is the second installment of the Lucky Devil Series from Megan Mackie. She was completely new to me when I picked up the first book in the series, The Finder of the Lucky Devil. I was hooked by the end of that book on the concept of this series as a whole and especially on the character of Rune. In The Saint of Liars we get a continuation of the story we read in book one. And… we get a five star read with this one! I loved this. It seemed like whatever was lacking for me to want to go with a four star in the first review, this one makes up for it. If I could rate it more I honestly would. I am not sure why but when I read the titles of these books, I think of the devil rubber duckie. SO, I would give it a solid 6 or more red devil duckies!
We still get the dystopian and magical world elements that shone in the first novel. Our favorite magical creatures make a few appearances as well and that made for some awesome imagery once again.
Rune and Saint Benedict,( holy hotness stranger!) find themselves wrapped up in a new journey together. Can they emerge from this journey unscathed? Will they find their romantic connection helpful or hindering? I loved reading about these two more so in this book. They have a great chemistry that really works well together throughout the book. Watch out for those twists and turns, I promise you won't see them coming, but they will so be worth the surprise! Now I wait with the anticipation building evermore, for book three to release! Happy reading! And thanks so much Megan Mackie for this new and wonderful series to enjoy!
This is book two in the ‘The Lucky Devil’ series by Megan Mackie, the storyline is set in an alternate Chicago where technology and magic are in competition with each other. This is an urban fantasy/cyberpunk novel with a fast paced storyline and some great characters. SciFi novels are not my usual genre but having discovered the first book in this series and enjoyed it I was happy to give this second instalment a try and I thoroughly enjoyed being back with Rune and visiting her ‘Lucky Devil Bar’. I was pulled back into the alternate world that Megan Mackie wonderfully creates and was fully immersed in Runes next adventure. Rune Leveau knew the peace couldn't last and once again finds herself at the centre of a battle between bullets and magic as warring factions converge on her bar. Everyone from the Kodiak Corporation, the Magic Guild, and the Faerie King himself, are after the ‘Finder’. The Masterson Files, which is a computer program with the impossible ability to cast magic is still the major prize wanted by all and they all think that Rune is the key as her former husband built the revolutionary code. Rune feels that cybernetic corporate spy, St. Benedict is the only one who can help her but she’s aware that they are both keeping secrets and telling each other lies. Rune finds she has to trust the, Saint of Liars to help her find Justin Masterson. This novel was full of action and drama all set in an alternate world where main character, Rune really brings the story together and moves the plot along. I was gripped from beginning to end and found the storyline exciting and the narrative easy to read.
Rune, Saint Benedict, and the rest of the gang are back! Plus a couple of new characters to push the story along. Megan Mackie is very good at piling on plot, plot, and more plot, without overwhelming the reader. The book is jam packed, in other words.
The story begins a couple of months after the end of the first book. Rune is having financial and magical trouble again. She just doesn't have the power to keep things running at the bar. Then Saint Benedict turns up, and her world is turned upside down again. Someone is out to kill her, and Saint Benedict's boss wants to work with her, and the Magical Guild want to replace her at the Lucky Devil, and...
Did I mention there's a lot going on? I admit, there were a couple of places where the story felt rushed, but not enough to lead to confusion. There was a dumb scene at the beginning that made me roll my eyes - you're really going to hand a woman in the middle of a panic attack a gun? Okay, then!
But! I really like Rune! I can't help rooting for her! She's such a decent person - kind, compassionate, determined to save others even at her own expense, and she proves that a character doesn't have to go around beating people up to be a badass.
The story is exciting, and fun. Saint Benedict is an emotional mess. I like him but dude, get therapy. And there was a scene close to the end that made me cry. I mean, books rarely make me cry, and I had tears in my eyes.
There were more than a few flaws, but the writing grabbed me. Story, characters, and the emotional beats throughout made this a satisfying read.
The Saint of Liars is the second book in Megan Mackie’s Lucky Devil series. It follows Rune Anna Leveau, who has a dark mysterious past, that seems to get closer and closer to catching up with her. Rune, with the help of her Aunt Maggie, buried Rune’s old identity, along with her connection to her husband Justin Masterson; after they were arrested for Justin’s embezzlement several months ago. Now everything has been turned upside down with the arrival of a cyborg spy, asking questions about Anna and her husband Justin. This throws Rune and St Benedict down a rabbit hole, as they discover that the world of magic and technology maybe closer than they initially thought. Saint of Liars, takes place two months after the events of The Finder of the Lucky Devil, and Rune and St Benedict are once again thrown together into a world of magic and technology, trying to keep Rune’s identity a secret from the megacorporation’s, that are after Justin’s code that would make it possible for technology to recreate magic. The world Megan Mackie has created is flawless. I was sceptical when initially reading the synopsis and questioning how polar opposite magic and technology is; but the way Mackie blends the two worlds together is fantastic. Her writing is fantastic, engaging and highly addictive. I was fully immersed in the world and characters she had created, that seemed to flow so beautifully. Everything was paced perfectly and I thoroughly enjoyed the second book in the series. Perfect for fans of steampunk, urban fiction, paranormal or fantasy readers. 5/5 stars!!
The Saint of Liars is book 2 in the Lucky Devil Series From author Megan Mackie. This is my second read from this author, and a brilliant introduction to her writing techniques, characters and compelling storylines.
This author has once again created a captivating storyline that has brilliant world-building, brilliant descriptions that help you mentally visualise the world that you are reading in your mind! This book was action packed from the get-go, and pulled you in completely, and had you on the edge of your seat with its various twists and turns throughout. This read is a brilliant take on the paranormal/fantasy genre. It’s filled with action, adventure, mystery and magic and some incredible main characters. This book flows seamlessly from chapter to chapters which makes it an even better read. Even after the small time jump from the end of the previous book into this one its smooth & flawless.
The characters from the previous book Rune & Saint Benedict still continue to stand out to me and carry making a great impact into this story. Along with some new secondary characters that also help give this story extra depth.
This is another great read from this author and I can’t wait to see what else Megan Mackie brings to this series, and more.
The Saint Of Liars by Megan Mackie is the second book in the Lucky Devil series. This series really needs to be read in order as it follows the same characters and the story follows on. To get the best out of it they aren’t not really stand-alone books.
Rune did it. She survived the onslaught of the Kodiak Corporation. And dare she say it but things had been pretty quiet ever since. Of course that couldn’t last for long. The corporate entities are still a lingering threat and a Faerie King has made his way to her bar. Everything is going crazy again. So of course the only way to make things better is to have St. Benedict turn up again. Just what Rune needed. With secrets and betrayals between them it could end up being too much to over come. Especially since Rune is trying to keep her head down and stay out of the war that is going on around her.
This book was a brilliant follow up to the first. As well written and as engaging it had me hooked right from the moment I read the blurb. I really do like Rune, her character is so interesting and entertaining it makes it really easy to read her story. Another great read and one that should be on everyone’s TBR list!
The Saint of Liars by Megan Mackie is the second book in The Lucky Devil Series a picks up two months after the last book left off. I am loving this paranormal thriller urban fantasy series. I was hungry to read this book after finishing the first and sat and gobbled it up in one day. There was no way I could put it down as there is so much going on I had to know where it was going. There is magic and magical creatures that are mystical. There is drama and action at every turn, adventure and danger that will have you holding your breathe, suspense and intrigue caught up in the twist. Searching for the truth between the secrets and lies is paramount as we traverse through different realms, different worlds that Megan has cleverly woven. Rune and Saint Benedict really make the story pop and their complicated relationship is one I hope continues to evolve. The only thing I found a little confusing was that the story was told in different POV’s and there was no indication it was so until you read and reread it a couple of times but once you knew what to expect it was ok. I hope to see a third book to this series as I feel there is so much more to be told and enjoy.
We are back with Rune Leveau at the Luck Devil Bar. We Met Rune in Book one when she had inherited the bar from her Aunt who had recently passed away. The Lucky Devil series is about a young woman named Rune who is a wife named June Masterson who reinvented herself after her abusive husband threw her under the bus for his crimes. Rune doesn't trust the corporations so things are rough until she decides she wants to find out her ex-husband's secrets. Rune is a great protagonist and Saint Benedict is just the perfect love interest for her despite both of them carrying serious emotional baggage. The story truly does deepen and expand, building on the characters and plots from the first book. The world Megan builds is so clear. Magic and corporate intelligence, is a wonderful combination. Once again Megan Mackie has created a book that has the old world and modern world colliding in the most amazing way. There is magic, action adventure, suspense, some mystery, drama, tension, chemistry, intrigue, danger, secrets, different realms….as well as a slew of mystical and mythical creatures. Who wouldn’t want to jump down this rabbit hole?!?!
The Saint of Liars was a great 5 star read. This is book two in the Lucky Devil series.
Rune is still learning about her magical powers, she has recently become the head of a magical house. She is also struggling to keep the bar she inherited from her aunt, in the green.
Saint Benedict is a Cyborg secret agent that has been in and out of Rune’s life. When he shows up again things start to get interesting for Rune. Can these two get past their issues? Can Rune keep her past in the past? Can Saint Benedict keep Rune safe?
There is so much that goes on in this book that I don’t want to give anything away. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. There are twists and turns. I did experience several emotions while reading. I really like the connection these two had. Both characters were great, Rune is a very determined and strong woman. Saint Benedict was great but needs some help. The author does a great job of pulling you into her world, I look forward to reading more from this series.
I give The Saint of Liars (Lucky Devil Series Book 2) by Megan Mackie, 5 stars. *This review may contain spoilers from book one.*
Rune thought everything was over. She officially claimed the Lucky Devil and is trying to get her life back to normal. Well, as normal as it can be now. Of course it was too good to be true. Now it all comes back to her ex husband and the files he created. There are many entities that want it, and many will do anything to get the files. One of them after the files is Saint Benedict. Can she trust him? Why should she? Or should she just run away from everything to save herself?
The first book took me by surprise at just how amazing it was. So I knew this book would be interesting, but it was so much better. Rune continues to grow into who she was meant to be, and the there is so much going on in this book. Yes, it is definitely connected to the first book, but it is its own story, not a rehash of the first. I stayed up way past my bedtime because I could not put it down. I cannot wait to see where the next book takes us and I hope the series last a long, long time.
The Saint of Liars is book two in the Lucky Devil series by Megan Mackie. If you haven’t already I would recommend starting with book one.
I really enjoyed this book, having already met some of the characters in book one I found it easier to follow and, as a result, more enjoyable. This story is jam packed from the start, and the fast pace keeps your turning pages and wanting more. The story starts back with Rune, just a few months after where book one ended. She’s having problems both magical and financial. Rune is a character that you can’t help but like and, for me, she holds the book together. Rune’s past is not a happy story and unfortunately it’s starting to catch up with her. You meet some familiar faces again in book two. Saint Benedict is back and has his own troubles. I feel for this character, but sadly I didn’t quite like him as much in book two. You also get to meet some much-needed fresh faces who help to breathe life into this story. If you like fast-paced action-packed stories then this one is for you.
The Saint of Liars Lucky Devil Book 2 By Megan Mackie ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ This is a full length novel, loaded with magic and suspense.
Rune Leveau is the main character in this fantasy fun filled story. After what happened with her and her ex-husband, she went Into hiding. Finding herself running the Lucky Devil Bar has many events going on. A visit from St. Benedict starts the excitement and the questions that follow. As she leaves the bar……… Reading this book will get you the answers you seek.
Megan Mackie wrote this fast paced story. You are sucked in on page one, and remain reading until the last page. I love the characters and their ability to use magic when needed. There are Fairies, Wizards and Rune. I love the story! The fantasy as well as St. Benedict brings you into this rollercoaster, just like Rune. Answers are needed and only reading this book will get those for you. I hope you enjoy Megan Mackie's book as much as I did. Be sure to read book 1 first. It will help you get to know some of the characters involved in this book. Well Done Megan Mackie!
I was interested in following on with Rune and St. Benedict. Sounded like an interesting adventure with looking for Justin Masterson.
I thought Rune grew in this book more than she did in other books. She's working on still getting over her Ex husband, and the terrible things that happened at Kodiak Corporation. In this book, Rune comes face to face with many things she's working to get through.
I'm glad Rune has become an independent person of her own here. I was worried for a touch there, but she's making her way and becoming a stronger person.
I had a few hiccups as I went through the audio book. There are a few errors that were missed in audio editing and there seems to be a volume difference between the characters. I thought there were a lot of unneeded "talking" moments where I felt things are drawn out.
Where the story ends is where the characters are to be. I had my suspicions about St. Benedict, but I think those were explained out. I do look forward to more with Rune as they go on to find what they are looking for and seeing her grow into her powers.
Our heroine's secret is out, or at least enough of it to make hiding difficult. Her life used to be easy-ish, but now things are downright complicated and look to stay that way.
This is book two of the Lucky Devil series. The story does pretty well as a standalone. You will be missing some of the backstory, but all the essential bits are covered early on.
This is something of a science fiction/urban fantasy story. We have a high tech future with supernaturals, so make of that what you will. The story is well written, easy to read and very engaging. Between the detailed setting where nothing is quite as it seems and the diverse characters that bring a lot of color to the story, there is never a dull moment. Frankly, I found it quite hard to put down, always needing to read one more page to see what happened next. Overall, a very enjoyable story and I look forward to more in this series.
Highly recommended.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book that I have read by this author and again I really enjoyed the story. Again the author pulled me in to the story from the very beginning and her writing was just as good as the first book. I enjoyed all of the twists and turns and the excitement that came with them. Rune continued to be a great character for me and I enjoyed following her story and seeing if she can find what she needs from her ex-husband in order to protect her past coming out. I liked Saint Benedict as a love interest for Rune, and I think they worked well together. I really have enjoyed experience Ms Mackie’s writing, the genre of these books isn’t my usual but her writing is such that I have really gotten into the story and the characters. They are so easy to read full of action and great twists and turns. I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future.
The Saint of Liars, Book 2 in the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie 4 out of 5 Stars
I have been waiting for this book! The Saint of Liars is the second in the Lucky Devil Series, following up with the Finder of the Lucky Devil. If you have not read book one, stop everything that you are doing and do that right now. You will get so much from the first book and you will enjoy the second book even more because of that knowledge. This urban fantasy book/ series will draw those who are in love with book types such as The Hunger Games, Divergent, ect. We find ourselves again with Rune and Saint Benedict. Two very unlikely friends, lovers and companions. This story has espionage, mystery, intrigue and all around quick witted writing. The author can suck you in and not let you out with the rapid pace of the story but it is such as easy read that you do not feel that you are suffering from paragraph whiplash. I loved every minute of this book!
The Saint of Liars (The Lucky Devil series Book 2) by Megan Mackie. I loved this book. I don't usually read this genre but I read the 1st book and I loved it. The 2nd installment did not disappoint. Its the story of Rune who in the 1st book was left The Lucky Devil Bar by her aunt who had recently passed. She also found out she has "powers". After her ex husband leaves her hanging for crimes he committed and steals the files that have all her magic in them she is determined to find him and make him pay. The only problem is Rune isn't the only one looking for this file and the people that are also looking for it will do anything to get it! Rune's new love interest Saint Benedict is going to try to help her by telling his boss. He promises to help Rune but he wants her help in finding her ex. Can Rune trust anyone? Will she find the file before its too late! Read The Saint of Liars to find out!
This is the second book in the Lucky Devil Series and I enjoy this just as much as the first one.
Rune is back and finds herself in the middle of a war between corporations. They all want to use her special ability to find something. Rune's husband was working on a computer programme that allows you to use magic. However this programme and the code got lost when Rune and her husband James were arrested and the corporations believe Rune is the key to finding it and allowing them to become more powerful.
The only person she feels she can trust in this is St Benedict but with the lies he has told her in the past can she really trust him.
Can she solve this mystery and actually find out what happened to her husband James and save the programme from the wrong hands or will she be betrayed by the people she thought she could trust.
Its an edge of your seat gripping ride that keeps you hanging on to find out what happens at the end.
