Got this free on stuff your earbuds day and I still think I spent too much.
Cheesy, cliched, corny, and overly horny. No one talks like this in real life, or at least I hope not.
The words folds, bean, dripping and alpha man were used way too much (once is too much but I counted at least five times in four chapters).
Too bad, I usually enjoy Wen Ross as a narrator but even he could not make up for this pile of absolute cringe.
Here are some great quotes to help you understand my aversion to this. Remember, all these happened before the 13% mark.

Sweet, sexy, and action packed! Dirty Tactics was a blast to read! With a hot SWAT officer that is the definition of alpha and a woman who is sweet, sassy and funny this book was quick to jump right up on my list of favorite reads! I flew through the pages with this one, devouring it all in one afternoon because I couldn’t get enough of Mac and Sarena. Peyton Banks is a totally new to me author, but I can tell you now I’ll be looking forward to everything she puts out in the future. I have a feeling she’s going to be an auto buy author for me after reading this one!
Mac is everything you want in an alpha hero and more. He’s bossy, fiercely protective, and loves his woman with all he is even before he admits it to himself. Sarena is easy to like. She’s got just the right amount of sass to keep you smiling and is all around adorable. The heat these two put off is scorching while their romance is full of swoony sweetness making a wonderfully addictive story with a bit of action that keeps you on your toes ramping it up to even more levels of awesome.

I never connected with these characters. The heroine is a strong woman who knows what she wants and I love these types of characters. We get a great description of the heroine, but I had to mentally put together the description of the hero from bits and pieces.
In this one, I liked the action more than the romance. This was a secret insta-lust, not love situation. The two neighbors tip-toed around each other for months until finally the hero makes his move. For some reason this didn't work for me, I needed some prior flirtation -- something leading up to the jumping off point of the romance. After that, the pacing of the romance was too fast and I didn't feel their love.
This story ended on a but left an important question, unanswered. The heroine's friend disappeared from the story and an opportunity for her friend to meet his friend was lost. I liked the writing style well enough so I'll be reading Book 2 to find out what I want to find out.

4.0⭐️ I loooooved this book. Marcas (Mac) is the consummate alpha male and team leader of the local SWAT team. He is described as having grey eyes, a smoking hot body and nothing else about his features. Yet, he’s just the epitome of alpha male deliciousness, and he’s a badass. 😍
The perfect match for him is Sarena, his next door neighbor. She is a head ER nurse, and she runs it like a drill sergeant, if necessary. She is feisty, has great self-esteem, and she is exceedingly confident in her sexuality. She is my kind of strong black heroine. There was one inconsistency with respect to Sarena’s hair. At one time her hair fell around her shoulders. In another part of the book, her hair hung down her back. My only wish is that authors could create black females with a bit more authenticity in hair and body type as well as eye color. I also have begun to hate the word “thick” to describe our bodies. Curvy is also overused. We come in all shapes and sizes.
The book had a lot of SWAT action that was exciting and nicely balanced the intensity of the sexual encounters between Marcas and Sarena. The action in the book also gave the book the depth it needed. There were 5 or less editing hiccups-YEAH!

I loved Sarena and Marcas! They were neighbors for awhile but had been eyeing each other. One day Marcas comes into the ER where Sarena works and she definitely gets put on his radar then! I loved both of their professions, as a SWAT member and a nurse, they are both heroes.
I enjoyed this book, it was a quick and easy read. I thought the plot and the story had so much potential! It fell a little short in areas. There were some elements and plot lines that I didn’t feel came together or made sense. And what I call a missed opportunity. Sarena’s friend is in a few different places throughout the story. In one of them she mentions meeting one of Marcas’s friends. I thought we would get to see the “meeting” and maybe lead into another story, but nothing comes of it and I was a little disappointed.
This is my first book by Peyton Blanks and I’m interested in seeing how her stories and writing evolve. I will definitely be reading more of her work.

What a great romantic suspense book (my favorite genre)! In this book Marcus (Mac) MacArthur is on the Columbia, SC, SWAT team and falls in love with Serena Rucker, an emergency room nurse. The suspense begins with someone tripping her house alarm. Why didn't they take anything? What if she had been home alone? Why did a violent gang, the Demon Lords, tag her house? Are they really after her or after her boyfriend, Mac? She gets kidnapped and soon the SWAT team is involved along with the FBI, ATF, and DEA, all trying to rescue her. There is a dramatic suspenseful ending, all leading up to an HEA, of course! I highly recommend this book.

This was a new author to me and I'm so glad I took a chance and read this book. This book has it all - suspense, drama, danger, friendship, bantering and sexy times.
These two characters were made for each other. I loved that they weren't shy of their interest. I don't know how I would have responded if a man this hot came up to my porch the very first time and said what Mac said to Sarena. I would probably faint right on the spot.
I felt like there was a nice mix of everything in this book. It wasn't too suspenseful or to romantic, the author did an amazing job mixing the two.
I really hope there will be more in this series!

This was my first time reading Peyton Banks and it won't be the last! Dirty Tactics is sweet, sexy, suspenseful and action packed! Marcus and Serena are well developed characters who I enjoyed very much... their romance, along with the unexpected twists and turns make this a great book!

Wow with every single story this author has written I have falling in love with them and this one was no different then the others. The story is a fast pace read but it comes with all the love all the emotions and all the action that I love in a story. And I'm definitely looking forward for more on this series.

This is a cute story. I liked the two lead characters. They were both independent people who went after what they want.
The story immediately dives into an insta-lust relationship that confused me because there was no initation into it. There is no flirting or anything. Marcas just basically went to Sarena and stated that he liked what he saw and he wanted her. Ok. No problem. They are two consenting adults but a little foreplay into my romance makes it stronger.
Marcas doesn't do relationships because of his job but after having sex with Sarena he can't shake her. Sarena wants to respect his decision but she wants more. So she goes after that. They both agree to a relationship...which by the way was only in the bedroom. I wanted interaction outside. Dating. something. Though the sex scenes were HOT!!!
The action seeps in the latter portion of the book. Things move very quickly and I wish we got more of that portion of the story but I was still pleased.
I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration. They were both new to me.
Overall, a nice start to the series. There were things that could have been delved into more to make the book stronger. I'm curious enough to read other books in the series.

DNF. The story did not appeal to me. There was zero romance between Mac, the alpha SWAT commander and Sarina, his ER nurse neighbor. The story started off well with a drug raid on a crack house. We’re introduced to the various members of the squad. The author of this story did a good job with the action sequence. The writing is well paced and I didn’t note any typos or grammatical errors.
My issue is that Mac walks over to his neighbor Sarena’s house and basically says “I’m your neighbor and I’m going to fuck you”. Yeah, Mac is an alpha but come on dude, work for it. Sarena is a strong woman who we’ve already seen doesn’t take shit from anyone so it seemed out of character for her to allow Mac to tell he’s going to have a sexual relationship with her without showing any love interest in her at all. That was cold!
Meh.

Tactics Indeed!!!
This story of Marcas/Mac and Sarena was off the charts muy caliente. There's Marcas who's a tough as nails ex-military leader of the highly decorated S.W.A.T. team alpha male, who is also well respected by his teammates as much as he takes care of them. Then there's Sarena who's a nurse that has been secretly lusting after Mac since she moved into the neighborhood right next door to him several months ago. Sarena has also gotten the 411 on Mac through the gossipy elderly neighbor Janet. Given Mac's job he's not interested in commited relationships as he doesn't want to put that kind of stress on anyone. But after one taste of Sarena he starts to rethink his stance on everything. Sarena is definitely a take charge kind of woman who has no issues telling Mac what's she wants and needs. They definitely are in for some new experiences some great some not so great. You'll have to read on to find out more about this intriguing duo. Find out exactly how far Mac will go to protect what's his when trouble darkens their doorstep. Highly recommend this book you will not be disappointed!!!

Sgt Marcas Mac Arthur did not play when it came to Sarena Rucker's safety. He'd give his life for her. All it took was their first non date and they were both addicted to each other. Peyton wrote a story full of drama and suspense. It was difficult reading her kidnap situation. Human trafficking is something I can not understand. It's a very difficult topic for me. Mac and his team came to the rescue. I can see more stories written about the other team members.

First time reading this author but definitely not the last. Enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Marcus (Mac) is leader of his S.W.A.T. team, ex Navy Seal, and a sexy dominating alpha lusting after his new neighbor. Sarena is a feisty nurse who puts up with guff from no man. She has been watching and wanting Marcus since she moved in. Now they are starting a relationship, something he never imagined he would have due to his job. Truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more about the team

Love this story. Max and his team is awesome. They are hot alpha male that haven't met their match until now. Serena and Mac wanted each other but was a little on coming together. But when they did. Not hot. No cheating .a must read. Waiting for Declan story

This book had all of the elements to be a hot and steamy read, unfortunately for me Marcas and Sarena came across as wooden characters. Not sure why but I lost interest almost as soon as I started reading it. I read several other books in between before making myself come back to it. I know other readers have gushed about the heat between them and Marcas being a hot seal and all for me it just never clicked.
It may have had something to do with the author using “flicking the bean” with Sarena that caused my brain to do a forehead palm and I just couldn’t recover from it. For me the dialogue between the two of them had a stiltedness to it that I just couldn’t get into.
Marcas obviously cared about the men under his command however for me it felt like there was a bit of a disconnect, or not the closeness that the author tried to engineer.
Marcas seemed to spend a lot of time in his head obsessing about wanting what’s best for Sarena and making decisions based on his own fears. Sarena was a nurse who was used to dealing with life or death situations on a daily basis. She was a strong woman and should have been able to handle his work and the risks.
All I can say is it may have just been my mood and I may pick this book up again months from now and totally love it. Presently for me it was an ok read that didn’t immediately pull me in.

1.50 stars. (BW/WM). An Audible audiobook narrated by Wen Ross and Trei Taylor, the male narrator was very good. Insta-lust. The heroine pulsates and the hero gets an erection just watching one another perform routine mundane tasks like mowing the lawn or bringing in groceries from the car. It's crazy, for all the sexual acts they perform, their interactions are totally void of romance. The heroine, Sarena Rucker, is a nurse and the hero, Marcas MacArthur, is the Sergeant of the local S.W.A.T. police force and they are next door neighbors. There's not much to this story...a local gang commits murders and kidnaps the heroine which causes the hero and his team into action and the time in-between is filled with tingling dripping throbbing genitals and moans and screams of pleasure. In the end, the loveless couple get engaged; but, who cares.

This is a fairly simple, but fun romance. A former Navy Seal, now SWAT team member, has no time for romance. Then a pretty nurse moves in next door. There's a bit of action in there, he IS a SWAT team member after all! But not a lot more than that. The book was mostly entertaining!

2.5 ⭐️ I’ve had this book on my tbr for so long I’m
disappointed that it wasn’t better. I didn’t feel anything towards the characters considering Mac was supposedly a hunky strong alpha Swat sergeant. He came across as bland and arrogant. The book started out ok introducing the characters then did a belly flop into insta-sex without any warm up. The characters had never spoken to each other, just glimpsed each other and admired from afar. If there had been some interaction or flirtation prior where they were both 100% sure of each others attraction then it would have made sense but considering they were neighbours they hadn’t even said in the months they’d lived on the same street. When Mac finally walks over to say Hi he basically propositions her the first time they speak. No. he tells her what he wants and is gonna do straight out the gate. Me and her both gasped. She liked it. I didn’t. I thought ok he’s an alpha but that was also very arrogant to assume she liked him that much and got down like that as they were strangers and neighbours. How awkward would it be living there if she’d told him where to go! 😳
After that the no chemistry sex was exactly that and the relationship developed in a fast ish kind of insta love way and a bit of action was thrown in around 80%. Ok maybe I’m being a bit harsh. It wasn’t terrible just unbelievable. I expect my insta love to still have a build up even if it’s love at first sight. This was lust and I wanna **** with neighbours.

She liked it. I didn’t. I thought ok he’s an alpha but that was also very arrogant to assume she liked him that much and got down like that as they were strangers and neighbours. How awkward would it be living there if she’d told him where to go! 😳
After that the no chemistry sex was exactly that and the relationship developed in a fast ish kind of insta love way and a bit of action was thrown in around 80%. Ok maybe I’m being a bit harsh. It wasn’t terrible just unbelievable. I expect my insta love to still have a build up even if it’s love at first sight. This was lust and I wanna **** with neighbours.

I thought Dirty Tactics was a really enjoyable story it would be the first one I've read by Peyton Banks and I know there will be more of the authors in my kindle . It's very suspenseful with a lot of shocking moments that I didn't see coming . The other thing that I really liked was the fact that the couple didn't fight the attraction it was very electric and had me a tad bit jealous of that . You don't want to miss out on this adventure .

Marcas + SWAT office + hawt neighbor Sarena = one freaking hot read. If you like, love and need more of a face paced, clothes dropping read this is your chance to grab it.
I adore this author, her writing and the fact that this is set I. South Carolina. Like seriously, feeling love it. The instant connection that Marcas and Sarena share is hard hitting. The SWAT team who we see through out the story is also a freaking hoot. These men all have a special bond and that allows them to tease Marcas in that special way on my a friend can. They keep him on his toes and just when he thinks he’s free of that pull to make his bacheloring, one night stand, I don’t do relationships kind of life more, the feel of Sarena under him makes all of it twist.
To say the man had a hard choice ahead of him is putting it lightly... what does he choose? You’ll have to read to see for yourself.

Marcus (Mac) MacArthur is on the Columbia, SC, SWAT team and falls in love with Serena Rucker, an emergency room nurse and his new next door neighbor. Dirty Tactics is a fast pace romantic suspense read that comes with all the love all the emotions and all the action and the heat that I love in a story. The story has a great pace, smoking hot moments and the angst to stop your heart. This is a must read if you love smoking hot romantic suspense stories.

Marcus/Mac and Sarena are neighbors and are aware of each other but have never crossed the yard to introduce themselves. Until Mac ends up in the ER with one of his team members who is shot (in his vest) and causing a scene and Sarena steps in to settle everyone down. This brings them toe to toe and that night he knocks on her door to apologize for his friend and, oh my, the chemistry between them is enough to set the house a fire. These two are great are H-O-T together and add in the suspense of a gang member lurking and then a kidnapping and all bets are off. Mac will do anything to save his woman. Definitely a great start to this series. I want more!

I really enjoyed this read! I love how protective Mac is and how accepting he was of the fact that he was falling in love when that isn't something that he has ever done before. I love the whole alpha male trope and I love a good romance involving some men in uniform. The spicy scenes in this were fantastic and I loved reading every single page of this book. I can't wait to check out more from this author!
