This is one of those few books that I wish I had read 10 years ago, but still feel very grateful that I got to read. More than a decade ago, the author himself ditched conventional career paths, moved to New Zealand, and have since practiced a minimalistic lifestyle there that allows him to be happier, more creative, and more attuned to the voice inside his heart. The writing is direct, sincere, and minimalistic as well, highlighting the various banes and distractions of modern societies that leave many of us physically exhausted, emotionally numbed, and spiritually hallow. By pointing out an alternative way of thinking and viewing things, the author convincingly shows how a simpler, minimalistic, and inward-looking lifestyle helps strip away a lot of redundancies and mental burdens, which in turns transforms our lives in terms of work, relationships, finance, health, productivity, daily routines, self-love, etc. Each section of the book consists of about only 200 words, but often packed with thought-provoking ideas that challenge or subvert the long-held beliefs we don't bother to question.
