Mí humilde opinión:

Grant y Theresa se conocían de niños. Tenían un amor secreto el uno por el otro. Nunca lo dijeron.

Grant es el chico problemático, sin padres, despreciado. Cuando el padre de Theresa lo echa de la casa que lo acogió injustamente, no lo vuelve a ver hasta muchos años después.

No sabe porqué ha regresado pero solo con verlo recuerda que lo que sentía por él nunca cambió.

Grant se convirtió en un empresario exitoso en Boston. Luego de recibir un correo electrónico de que Theresa está en peligro no duda en regresar a un lugar que nunca se sintió su hogar.

Porque no olvidó a Theresa y si ella lo necesita, allí estará él.



Lo primero que me atrajo de este libro fue la bella portada junto con la sinopsis. Pintaba una historia interesante... Pero sorpresa! No había nada interesante y me obligué prácticamente a terminar el libro.

Creí que por el título del libro habría algún héroe oscuro pero Grant era un chico rebelde como cualquier adolescente, nada muy escandaloso, que después crece y se convierte en un hombre de bien por su propio esfuerzo y trabajo. Me gustó él la verdad.

Odié a Theresa, fue la peor heroína! no podía creer que se dejara manipular por los hombres de su vida. Con 26 años me pareció muy inmadura. Quejica la mayoría del tiempo!

No podía creer que de repente aparezca Grant y decide enfrentar a su novio que la controló por 8 años, ¿Porqué no lo hizo antes? De repente, es tan fuerte ella que se enfrenta a todos y decide que tiene que ser esa mujer que siempre quiso ser y no pudo? No lo ví real, no había un desarrollo en eso, fue todo brusco. Y encima, luego ella también le echa la culpa a Grant que si él hubiera vuelto antes por ella no hubiera dejado que su novio la controlara? Que hubiera sido todo más feliz?

Hubo escenas de violencia, el novio de ella casi la abusa, lo arrestan y como si fuera poco luego vuelve y la secuestra para casi matarla? Todo eso fue tan loco que yo sacudía la cabeza porque no podía creerlo! Cuando pensé que cerraba el libro el novio loco volvía a por ella?!

Había muchas cosas que no eran creíbles. La verdad una historia muy pesada, costaba leer, y no veía la hora de que terminara.

Una historia sobre una segunda oportunidad en el amor terrible.

Me parece que pudo estar mejor si la autora lo hubiera dejado simple, sin capítulos de relleno, sin tanto drama innecesario y exagerado!

I am not impressed with this book! I made it to chapter 16, then decided that I couldn’t read anymore! This story didn’t have a flow to it. Seemed it was just thrown together! Theresa drove me completely insane! From what you could tell, she was a immature 26 year old!

This is a nice second chance romance. Split apart as teenagers before they could even admit their crushes for one another, Theresa and Grant have had 11 years to pine for one another. Grant is back in town after receiving a strange email alluding to Theresa being in some kind of trouble. Theresa is in an abusive relationship and finally finds the courage to kick the guy to the curb when she sees Grant. Once she is on the outside of that relationship, she realizes that both her father and brother are also controlling her. She wants Grant. Grant wants her. But her family and some of her bad decisions keep getting in the way.

A lot of this story was predictable, but it was still entertaining. The smut was average, the plot was average, thus the average rating. I liked Grant's character a lot more than Theresa's (she was a bit annoying at times).

This Time he Will Win The Girl Of His Dreams

Theresa has a major crush on her older brother, Hollis', best friend, Scott, who is a bit of a nerd. What she doesn't realise is that he likes her too but because she is 15 to his 18 and he is living with her family [they took him in because of the way he was being treated by his supposed family].  She is talking with her bff, Jane, and they're talking about which boys they'd like to kiss them. her mum overhears and misinterprets what was said, tells her dad and he kicks Scott out of the house even though Theresa stands up for him. He leaves town and no one hears from him again. He works hard and, with enterprise and good management, his construction firm makes him a billionaire.  But he still thinks of Theresa wishing life could have been different.  Meanwhile Theresa gets a college degree in business but he dad still has her working as a clerk in his business not using her abilities. But her life isn't even great in love as her boyfriend, Ike, is a controlling and manipulative jerk and those who care for her are worried.  Scott gets an email sent to him and it states "Theresa needs you. She’s in trouble. Please come home and help her." So he drops everything and goes 'home'. Hollis is in now in the police force but even he can't help Theresa.  When they meet again the attraction between Theresa and Scott is even deeper than before. But how is Ike going to react to Scott being around? What will Theresa's dad say with Scott being home??  To find out if you think that this time Scott and Theresa will get their HEA together you need to get your own copy and enjoy to find all these answers.  This latest story by Rye Hart is a real emotional tale that will make you feel so sorry for Theresa and Scott. The chemistry between them is so obvious and I loved the way Rye 'reintroduced' them to each other in the story.  Plus who has sent the email to Scott??? A wonderful story that I will be re-reading as it is so good. I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here.

** I voluntarily read this ARC to give an honest review*** I loved the way that Theresa stood up for Scott who was being accused of touching her. She had a crush on him and he on her, but he was 18 and she was only 15. Her mom overheard her talking with her best friend Jane and they were saying what boy they wanted to kiss. Mom told dad and he threw Scott out of their home where they had taken him in because his family was terrible to him and he was Hollis' their son's best friend. Jane kept telling Theresa she should give Ike the nerd a chance because he liked her. Eleven years after Theresa couldn't find Scott she hooked up with Ike who was very controlling of her dress, where she was at any given time and who she was allowed to talk to. One day Scott got an email saying Theresa needed him and he got in his car and went to see about her. She finally was tired of Ike's ugly ways and put him out. Having hooked up with Scott, and he had gone back to Boston, Ike attacked her in the apartment and tried to rape her. She was able to call Scott and Hollis and they saved her. But somehow Ike got out of jail.

When he gets back the two take one look at the other and they still feel the same. He tries to find out what’s going on and they try to get her to leave her abusive boyfriend. I have to say that, at times, I felt this book wasn’t quite up to the same standard as I’ve become used to with this author. I think it’s because Theresa was annoying to me at certain parts of the book.

BUT....
I still loved the story.
It was captivating and I was hooked from the beginning, where the author began the book 11 years in the past.
Like I said earlier, Theresa was annoying some of the time, but other times I loved her. Scott, I just loved him the whole time. Even with their flaws, I loved her dad and brother as they were a big part of the story.
One last thing, if the ending had been any different, I would not have purchased the book. I freaking loved the ending!! There were a couple surprises (Hollis- didn’t see that one coming lol) that made me mad that the story had to end.
This is a book that I would say is a must read!!

As always I absolutely loved another one of Rye Harts books!! Grant and Theresa were so amazing together. The path to get them there was hurtful and trying mixed with betrayal and heartache but in the end was explosive. A must read. One of my favorites so far this year. I know I say it with all Rye's books but it's absolutely true.

My. Heart. Soared. This story grabbed my heart, ripped it from my chest, stomped on it, resuscitated it, infused it with love, and restored it to me in better shape than when I started. Can a book really do that? You bet your sweet lady parts this one can!

One innocent teenage conversation overheard by Theresa’s mom changed their entire family one night. Before anyone really understood what was happening, Grant, the troubled young man who was considered an adopted son, was suddenly homeless. Thrown out of the house and family for something he didn’t do. This event so upset the young teenaged Theresa, she never really recovered from it. All of her relationships with men from that point have a bit of a toxic edge to them.

Theresa just can’t seem to have a healthy relationship with men. She’s never forgiven her father for what he did to Grant, and her brother Hollis is constantly telling her what to do and how to do it. Sheesh. Then there’s her boyfriend, Ike. He’s the absolute worst of all when it comes to controlling her. Everyone keeps telling her that. She knows it better than anyone else. After all, he tells her what to wear, who she can see, and where she can go. He’s a total jerk. But life is complicated.

Eleven long years after that night that changed everything, Grant returns with a mission. He received an email from an anonymous source telling him that Theresa was in trouble. She may not have seen him since that night, but she’s never been out of his head or his heart. While he’s been away, he’s been busy getting his life together. Now he’s the owner of a successful construction company. But he never got over wanting Theresa. Whether he can have her now or not, he will definitely make sure that she’s safe.

The author has created a novel full of vibrant characters that spring to life in very believable fashion. Grant is dreamy and wonderful, complex and unpredictable. Theresa is that interesting kind of strong and smart woman that’s sort of forgotten just how capable she is. Sounds silly, but it happens sometimes when everyone around you wants to think for you. But true to her nature, she pulls herself up and shows just what she’s made of when it counts. She’s a force to be reckoned with.

The plot line takes off from the beginning and doesn’t let up. The story is also a wonderful mix: there’s amazing passion between Theresa and Grant, great humor, suspense, intrigue, healing, and some interesting family dynamics. This novel would be rated as one that could be shared with your best friend—the sex scenes are woo-hoo hot, there is also some mature language, and violence in the course of this story. Readers be aware that some scenes are intense and could act as triggers. Having said that, this is a beautiful story of hope, and love that survives. Period.

you know the saying "dont follow the crowd, it might just kill you"? , well i fell for it. i followed the crowd and look what that got me ... a SHITTY book! gosh i actually believed all the "5 stars" this book was getting, it was even number 1 on most bought book on amazon!!.

ughh i hated this book! what i even hated more was that i wasted my money on this book!
hey, at least i know one thing now, and it is to NEVER believe what people write in their reveiws about a book!
yes that includes mine. i might hate the book but that does mean you would too .
anywayyy!, back to my review!

reasons why why i hated this book:
1. like seriously, cliche much?!!: ok, i know the title gave it away , but seriously?!!, when i saw the title and all the hits , i thought it would be different. yes about your brother's bestfriend but at least alil different.
It was horrible.The writing style, the conversations ,so predictable, in fact the whole story was preditable.
i have read two or three stories with this same plot ,so bear with me when i emphasize on the cliche.
2. too short and plain: there were alot of ways the author could have prolonged the book and added a lil spice.Like when the lead male character(dont remember his name) didnt know who sent the email , that could have given a lil mystery to add to the book. but NOOO! the dad just had to go and spoil and everything!
And the oddest thing was when the father just took up the blame for the email and everything...JUST LIKE THAT! ..i mean he could have disagreed and the book would have gotten a few pages😐😒.everything was just too easy! even when the lead male character found the lead female character when she was kidnapped... JUST TOO EASY!!!
3. I did not like the lead female character: she was too needy. always needing this snd that (for all her independent woman speech)(rolls eyes).
4.that's about it ! but did u guys notice how short no. three was😐😐😐...guess i just got tired then (shrugs).

thats the summary the of the most shitiest book i have read. i mean the clichest(if that is even a word) of cliches!

i have said my piece , but overall the main reason why i did not like this book was because it was screaming "AMATEUR". mainly from the words and plot. so if you are used to reading advanced books, with big words you didnt even know existed, with a twisted plot and a load of suspense, this book is NOT!and i repeat NOT! recommended for you.

Loved it

Grant found a home with his best friends family after his own kicked him out. Hollis little sister is crushing on him, so their father makes a preemptive strike and he is once more kicked out. Grant is 18, has a truck and some money saved and a p!an. His hurt and anger the fuel to make it happen. Eight years later Grant is back in his home town. An anonymous e-mail, only saying Theresa needs him.
The Peterson family all but fell apart when their father accused Grant of going after Theresa, then kicking him out. Hollis moved to the other side of the state and Theresa rebelled. When their mother died, Hollis came back. Theresa works as office manager and receptionist at her fathers dental office.
Theresa is ready to explode, between her controlling father, brother and boyfriend, she is at her breaking point. When Grant shows up, looking hotter than ever, 8 years of pent of anger and frustration come out, and it isn't pretty. She starts with her boyfriend. He isn't going to let her go easily.
Grant and Theresa are explosive together. Both angry about the past. Both uncertain about the future. They can't keep their hands off other. Their teenage crushes are turning into something stronger.

What an amazing read between Scott and Theresa, two people who when they were teenagers had feelings for each other. Problem was Scott lived with Theresa, her brother and her parents, they took him in and when they get wind of Theresa having a crush on him, they throw him out. Years later he comes back into town after receiving and anonymous email that Theresa needs him, he doesn’t hesitate and comes back to the town that he grew up in. Theresa is in a controlling abusive relationship for many years and until Scott comes into the picture she finally has the strength to end it all with Ike. Now what is going to happen between Scott and Theresa, a love that never died after so many years, but with obstacles still in their way....her brother and dad.
An amazing read that had me from page one till the end. A read with heartache, heartbreak, steamy scenes, some suspense and two people who have wasted years being apart. I loved this read and everything about it, there were no other women mentioned in Scott’s life or comparisons...refreshing...no women coming between them....refreshing....no jealousies or misunderstandings...refreshing. I loved how it all played out between them, when she stands up for herself with Scott...loved it...when she finds out the truth about why he came back and what happens after...loved it and so refreshing...how Scott doesn’t back down...loved it....how they didn’t run away from each other when the going got tough...loved it...how they stuck by each other...loved it...how she told him how it was going to be and how she was in control....loved it. Only thing missing for me was a more in depth explanation into what happened with his parents, how and why he ended up with her parents is a bit of mystery but even with that missing information, I could not give it less than 5 stars. The characters, the story, the actions and reactions throughout the story sets it apart from others and the ending with the truth about her brother....a great surprise and I loved it all !!

This is one wonderful story about Scott and Theresa. Scott has had a bad family life and ends up living with his best friend Hollis’s family. Theresa is Hollis’s younger sister and she has a crush on him that never even started before her father has the wrong information and kicks him out on the street with nothing. Theresa was heartbroken but went on only being 15 years old. Theresa ends up with a man who treated her horribly and he ends up being a thorn in her side. Scott becomes a very successful man with owning his own construction company. One day he gets a cryptic email that Theresa is in danger and needs his help so he drops everything to go back to the one place that holds so much pain and the one person he truly cares for. To Scott’s surprise Hollis is a policeman and Theresa works for her father as a receptionist even though she has a college degree. Scott realizes the feelings he has are very for Theresa and knows he will do whatever he can to protect her. Once Scott hears about her boyfriend and what he is doing to Theresa does he step in. They spend some time together and things get heated up right away and they go in their journey with ups and downs. Can Theresa walk away from her past and start a fresh new life? Rye Hart hit this one out of the park.. I have three boys and two girls and I tell my kids all the time that it’s something that can happen and to not be closed minded about it if it does.. I absolutely love it. I recommend to every one to read it.. ok here is a sneak peek into thins masterpiece. You have Theresa who has always and I do mean always loved Scott who happens to be her older brother Hollis best friend.. but the heart wants what the heart wants.. Glen is her father who after hearing some awful things push’s Scott away after treating him like a son to throw him away like that was hard on Scott. Scott leaves without a backwards glance.. Well time passes and her love for him has yet to pass but she is with a control jerk. The jerk treats her like she doesn’t matter and hurts her. Scott is back because somebody sent him a message that Theresa was in danger and he comes back for her.. things happen and Scott realizes that the feelings he had hidden for Theresa can’t stay that way.. he makes a move but is it in the right direction? Is it for now? Is it what’s best for Theresa? Can Theresa fix the problems between her dad and Scott is it a doom relation? What does Hollis say? I can seriously go on on about how great it is but really just read it.. I promise you won’t be able to stop.. forever mine..

Rye's done it again. Couldn't put it down was up half the night reading it to the end & it was worth it.
Here we begin off where we see whom the 2 main characters are. There's Theresa Peterson & Scott Hooper. Scott is Hollis Person's best mate & is living with them & without the other knowing how they felt but things to a turning point in both of their lives when Scott all of sudden got told to leave.
So it's years later when Scott got a sudden email saying that, he needs to get back as She needs him.
And what a man Scott is as he doesn't question it, he jumps in & drives to her & it's from here we see why she NEEDS him. And it's heated in areas of the way she's getting treated by Ike her boyfriend since senior's & not listening to anyone NOT EVEN her best mate since they were kids Jane.
But her life changes in many ways since she heard & saw Scott was back. And heck he's the way she knew he always was & hoping he'd be. But she did have to go through such deep things whilst the 2 of them were getting to know each other again.

This is one of my favorite authors. She always writes from the heart and pulls the reader into a tight, emotional hug with her beautiful stories. I say this about each book, but I think this one was awesome! The characters are well developed. The chemistry between Grant and Theresa is sizzling! The story line is good, engaging and holds the reader’s interest from the start. Get yourself a copy of this book and see what you think! A second chance type book that keeps you reading until the end with the passion, the twists and turns and of course the characters. Grant who is also Scott has had a tough childhood, first his parents kicked him out, his best friend Hollis' family took him in, Theresa was crushing on him but when their father thought he was making a move on her he was kicked out of another home. At eighteen he had a truck and some money and with all of the negative and anger from his past spurred him to succeed. Eight years later he receives any anonymous letter stating Theresa was in trouble and needed his help so he returns. Theresa is angry at her controlling boyfriend, brother and father and she has had enough. She breaks up with the boyfriend but he is the type who thinks that once you are his that is it, the father and brother feels her wrath as well. Grant and Theresa are explosive together but they must deal with their past, anger and their present issues if they are to get their HEA! Get your copy and enjoy their story, I did! Realmente pensé que iba a ser una historia con un personaje involucrado con bastante cosas oscuras, pero en realidad no lo fue este personaje masculino es un hombre que se forjó a través de malas experiencias y decepciones de sus más grandes allegados. Este hombre realmente es muy ejemplar, no le encuentro defectos en nada y es raro porque pensé que iba a estar involucrado en cosas malas debido al nombre del libro pero por lo visto nada que ver, él es un hombre exitoso nacido de entre las cenizas.
Su compañera es una chica algo loca, indecisa y perdida en el mundo que se deja manipular por las demás personas y bueno se mete en muchos problemas por tratar de demostrar su independencia y valía como mujer.

No es una mala historia realmente te sorprenderá solo que la protagonista es algo tonta a veces, pero algunas mujeres pueden actuar de la misma manera les es algo sumamente natural. Además de que pasa por situaciones en la que algunas lamentablemente han pasado y no ha sido nada grato, a veces las mujeres pasan por cosas que dejan huella.

OMG This was a fantastic second chance read by Rye Hart! Theresa has a huge crush on Scott, her brother Hollis's best friend. He lives with them after her family took him in. Scott finally had the family he always deserved. But after overhearing Theresa telling her best friend Jane all her dirty fantasies about him, her family throws Scott out. Even though he also has feelings for Theresa he would have never acted on them out of respect for her family. Not to mention, Hollis would kill him if he touched his baby sister. Now years later, Scott has returned for one reason-protect and watch out for Theresa. He received an anonymous email telling him she was in trouble. Can Scott protect Theresa from her abusive boyfriend Ike and prove to her family that he would never hurt her and that they are meant to be? There were a couple twists I did not see coming at all. Highly recommend. 5 stars. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

For a bad seed I think Grant is pretty fantastic. He has worked hard to overcome a less than stellar start in life, not only his own family rejecting him but the family that took him in as well, for no reason other than a father's overprotectiveness, unfortunately Theresa's dad's choice also almost destroyed her own family with it generating a lot of anger and resentment all round. I enjoyed Grant and Theresa. Individually they were strong and charismatic characters and together they were explosive. Their story kept me riveted to the pages all the way through and I loved the journey that these two took, again both individually and together, and Grant's intensity is something that leaps off the pages and makes him one of those characters that you cannot help but fall for. What adds to the appeal of the book is the entire cast of characters are so well-crafted that even when their decision making is flawed you can't help but be enamoured of them.

Theresa and Jane have been friends for years and shared all their thoughts and dreams about boys and life. Theresa always crushed on Scott, but knew he was out of her league. Funny, because being best friends with her brother, Hollis, Scott always fantasized about getting together with Theresa. Then her father kicked Scott out of their lives. Time moved on and so did Scott and Theresa. Now Scott is back, for a while, and he's still interested in Theresa. So many things can happen in ten-plus years, not to mention what happens when everyone is together again! A good , deep story with some really unexpected happenings. Thoroughly enjoyed the dynamics between Scott and Theresa! Loved Scott!
