White Horse #3

Booze O'clock

Rate this book
Love at first sight is real. Anyone who says differently can eat a bag of dicks.

I found Miss Right drunk off her ass in a honky-tonk, looking to put a bullet in the head of the man who both gave her life and stole it away. Her plan is suicidal madness. Considering dead isn’t a good look for my future wife, I swoop in to save her from a mistake she can’t unmake.

Heroic behavior isn’t my usual M.O., and I’m unsure how to heal the grief-stricken beauty. I’ll figure it out, though. If not on my own, my family of very tenacious busybodies will offer their advice—whether I want it or not.

Booze O’clock is the third book in the White Horse series. Book 4 (Cap) will be released later in 2018. Containing sexual content, violent situations, and extreme profanity, this book is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.

I received a newsletter from the author stating that Brick Shithouse was available. A book about the kids of Cooper Johansson and Angus Hayes is a must read for me.

Before I could download that book I noticed this one which had somehow passed me by. I was going to skip it and move straight onto Brick but all the 5* reviews won me over.

I’ve read the book and I’ve read several reviews and it seems obvious it’s a case of it’s me not the book.

I have to say I’m a huge Bijou fan I love her characters and the sarcastic humour that runs through her books. But this one just didn’t work (for me) and no one was more surprised than I was. I’d loved Junkyard and enjoyed Bitch Slap and all the characters but it just didn’t work here.
It didn’t help that I didn’t particularly like Tatum, her indecisiveness drove me nuts.
Bijou’s humour and fast dialogue are present but couldn’t save this for me.

It’s not a terrible book by any means it’s just not the brilliant sparkling read I look forward to from this author.

Ok I'm just going to say this now and get it out of the way. This is a must read, stop what your doing and put what your doing/reading away and read this book or at the very least buy this one so you can read it when you're done. I fell head over heals in love with this book. Not only this entire book(and I do mean entire book) but with Chipper. We thought we knew him, and of how wrong we were. I loved Chipper he is quite simply an amazing hero. Is he cocky, yes and I love him for that but he is also loving and caring and willing to do anything for those he loves and Tatum(our heroine) quickly, I'm talking lightning speed becomes the most important person in his life.

While on a regular work day checking up on his people Chippers world turns upside down when Chipper see's a beautiful woman he immediately knows he will marry. When he see's his future wife is about to make a stupid suicidal decision Chipper steps in and saves her then holds her hair when she throws up. The only other option he has left is to take her home. Waking up Tatum knows she isn't were she should be and soon finds Chipper the man from the night before, more importantly the man who quite possibly kept her alive. And though Tatum is beyond gorgeous he is also very crazy.

Loosing the most importantly person in her life Tatum is floundering and barley above water, moving was for one purpose but soon after meeting Chipper Tatum's purpose begins to change with the very determined man, even if some days still feel to hard to go on. Chipper set his eyes on Tatum and now he will not only keep her and make her his but also make sure she is healed and no longer hurting and introducing her to his crazy family while bringing her into the fold.

Soon Tatum and Chipper become everything to each other but the pain Tatum has is deep and the reason for Tatum's move stills stands. Good thing Chipper was raised to believe nothing he wants is impossible.

I really can't tell you how much I loved this book, I didn't want to put it down, I laughed(went into a coughing fit at one scene) teared up and just plain fell in love. The chemistry in this book is beyond words. Chipper and Tatum were perfection together. But not just that everyone is this book makes this read magical. Chipper, Tatum, Poet, Cricket, Cap, Bianca Bella, Hayes, Candy, Bon..... literately everyone in this book. I am over the moon with this book and yet so sad it's over.

We get so much funny in this book it's too much to even count but we also get sweet in this one. Chipper is head over heals in love with Tatum, she's his world. Tatum is heartbroken but finds her strength and a new family. The relationship between Hayes and all the kids was priceless and he and Tatum together were so sweet. And then we have Cap. What do I even say about him that they all call him cherub or an angel had me laughing so hard and then there's the fact that I can not wait what feels like another second for his book. I am so excited for his book it has a lot to live up to, or more acuratly whats in my mind. I would rate this one 10 stars if I could. I absolutely adore Bijou Hunter and this book right there is just one of those reasons why.

*Thank you Bijou Hunter for this beta read.

Although, I really didn’t like cricket, I love this story. It was an easy read with no real drama! And I loved getting to see my fave couple, angus and candy, again.

I was excited for Chipper's story. He and Cricket have such a sweet bro-ship.

Unfortunately, the heroine of this book just didn't do it for me. Also, virgin heroine alert. Every other character in this series is so freaking awesome, I guess it was a matter of time that we got an emotional, family-less, friendless, virgin heroine. I feel bad that I couldn't connect to the heroine, but it just didn't work for me. I never understood why Chipper was dead set on her other than his claim she was "the one".

The 2 stars are for the family and their hilarious ridiculousness.

Chipper was regretting the meeting he had with Camden, the President of Serrated Brotherhood MC in their stinky bar. He knew he just needed to get to business and head back to White Horse but then the woman who was meant to be his wife walks in the door. She is skittish and Chipper knows he will need to to step in to protect her.

Tatum's life is swirling around in an empty pool, she lost her mom and wants revenge with the man who broke her moms heart. Chipper though is an unexpected diversion. Chipper lays out his plans for Tatum, she thinks he is crazy and she is a bit timid but he has a plan if she is willing to take the chance.

This is my favorite in the White Horse series. I wasn't sure what to expect from Chipper because you don't get a firm read on him in book one but he is fascinating. I loved every moment of this book, it is humorous and filled with favorite characters from several of the books. Can't wait to see what is next.

Carla's Five Star Review

Booze O' clock is the 2nd book in the White Horse series, and it is Chipper and Tatum's story.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Well, if you don't, you will after reading Chipper and Tatum's story.

Chipper and Tatum are two of my all time favorite couples. Chipper is amazing! I love his heart along with his snarky sense of humor. I also love how he does everything he can to make Tatum happy.

Oh, Tatum. She is so great. She has suffered the loss of her mom, and, amidst that grief, she has come up with the crazy plan to kill the man known to everyone as Howler, but to her he will always just be her sperm donor. Chipper knows that if Tatum shoots Howler, Howler's club will come down hard on her, so he takes the gun from her and takes her to live with him at his house. It doesn't take long for these two to develop pretty strong feelings for one another. If ever two people were meant for one another, it is Chipper and Tatum. I love Chipper's family. They are nuts, but they love one another the way a family should.

Simply incredible book! I love each and every character. They are all so funny, and the back and forth banter they all use will crack you up throughout the entire story. I can't wait for Angel Cap's story!

This author is the best! I haven't read a book written by her that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. If you are just now hearing about Bijou Hunter, you are lucky because you have a ton of great reads ahead of you!

Keep them coming, Bijou!

I love this author so much, I just really enjoy her work.

This book carries on a couple of years after Bitch Slap and it’s drama from the go.
Chipper and Tatum are match made in heaven in my opinion Chipper knows what he wants (he admits he’s spoilt) and Tatum doesn’t need to be saved but she kinda needs saving from herself.
After losing her mother she moves to White Horse to kill her loser father ( washed up has been mc Vice President) you know who he is!!! That’s when Chipper steps in and saves his future wife!! Tatum learns she’s not alone in the world whilst making a new family. She really is a sweetheart. Chipper was his funny sarcastic loveable self.
I love catching up with past characters and seeing their kids growing up and finding love.

Bring on Cap’s book and Keanu’s and every second generation characters books because whilst Bijou writes them I’ll keep reading them.

This is just my humble opinion and was gifted a copy for an honest review. I really do in this authors work.

5 hilariously fun ***

This book had plenty of LOL moments. Chipper discovered that love at first sight is real. He's found his lady love in a dirty biker bar getting drunk before she shoots her no good bio father. Tatum is grieving for her recently deceased mother. Chipper comes to the rescue. He takes Tatum home and helps her get past her grief. Chipper's plan to make Tatum's father pay for his neglect doesn't go as planned. With the help of Cricket, Poet, Keanu and Cap they improvise with hilarious results.

It was nice to revisit Hayes, Candy and the rest of their sarcastically funny family. I love how they still get together for breakfast at the Waffle House. Nobody knows how to take care of a problem and keep his hands clean the way Hayes does.

I think this could be read as a standalone but I don't know why anyone would want to miss out on the fun in the first 2 books. I wish these books would be produced in audio.

Can't wait for Cap's story.

This family is crazy in all the best ways. Their antics crack me up and their bantering even more so. Loved Chipper in this book. I struggled at times with Tatum but for the most part it was great.

One of the best things about this series is that the author doesn't bring in other drama and instead just shows the craziness of this family as the characters find love.

Fantastic Book!

I love this book!
I have never laughed so much while reading a book in my life!
I loved Chipper and Tatum! When Chipper saw Tatum he knew she was his forever! He would anything for her! Tatum took a little longer. I loved all the characters in this book! They made the story enjoyable!
Thank you Bijou Hunter for this fantastic book!

I loved Booze O'Clock.  It is romance comedy heavy on the comedy, and I drop all my other reading to read her stories because it's all about the character conversations with each other.

The writing is not too invested in internal angst because it's all about working with what life throws at these characters and just dealing with it while leaning on familial support, booze, and bbq. Bijou Hunter has a natural flair at making dialogue fun and develop the story's purpose. But she does it better than many romance indie authors because she can put 9-10 characters into a room, and they can all talk and interact naturally. Many writers try to do this but sorta fail because they can't give enough individuality in their speech, and provide them enough comebacks and reactions for each character to make them equally colorful.  e.g. she can make Hayes say "Shut the f*** up" a dozen times in the book and each time it's still funny.

I received an arc for an Honest review.

Firstly she does it again you will laugh constantly throughout this story, the characters have no filter and there is no pause button.

If you haven't read the previous books in this series I suggest you start on book one so you know there history and see them evolve in each book.

Was great to see the gang again i say see as I was transported into the book alongside hayes candy cricket chipper and cap lol its a romantic comedy written beautifully I guarantee you will not be able to put the book down. Breezy is a great addition to the gang she quiet indecisive but with chipper she finds her place and her way into the crazy bunch.

I loved it !!!!!!! This book was my favourite in the series

If you like no filter no nonsence character's that don't take life so seriously, alongside hilarious moments this is the book for you. P.s don't mess with them as things get real if you do lol

5 stars!!!!!!

Chipper was so worth the wait!
Bijou Hunter's writing just has a natural flow to it and you fly through her books. So this one was over way too quickly. But I loved every minute of it.
Chipper fell instantly for Tatum and they were so sweet together. He gave her the family she craved (even if they are all kinda crazy!). And Tatum learned to trust Chipper enough to open herself up to the goodness that he was offering (even with the swearing). LOL
While I love the romance and journey of the mail characters I think that my favourite part of this series so far is the peek into the happily ever afters or previous characters; Hayes and Candy, Bonn and Ruby, Poet and Cricket, even Chevelle and her man. I can't wait to read more about these beloved characters.
Waiting patiently impatiently for stories about Cap, Keanu, and Bianca Bella. :o)

** I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

As with all this author's books, the characters and situations are a bit different but still feel REAL in a strange way, I am a big fan and always am eager for her next work.

This is the story of Chipper (who is the twin brother of Cricket and step son of Hayes) and Tatum. I thoroughly enjoyed it and seeing another side to Chipper - who I will admit to disliking a bit from the other 2 books with him in it. He won me over with his devotion to Tatum and his understanding and acceptance of her quirks, fears and self-doubt. Of course he wouldn't be the Prince of White Horse without a bit of arrogance, humor and his own slightly quirky view of life.

Ended up being a very touching read. Can be read as a stand alone but for best enjoyment I would recommend reading Junkyard Dog and Bitch Slap first.

3-3.5 stars. I didn't love this one as much as the first two, but still really liked it. This series almost reminds me of a PNR where the world building allows for things outside our norm to occur. These characters (more so in the first two books) are so strange that normal rules just don't apply to them and insta-love, including moving in immediately, marriage and babies doesn't seem rushed or crazy, but rather totally fine.
I will say the novelty of it all is loosing a bit of it's shine and I want to move on, but I'm trying this new thing where I finish series that I start... Crazy, I know. Usually I get bored and just start something else with the intention of coming back to the series at some point and then rarely do. I've only got one book left in this series and although I have about zero interest atm I think I'll go for it and hope for the best 🤞🏻

Review for White Horse #2 and #3:

I loved the first one, with Candy and Angus. The next two, which follow Candy's twins, Cricket and Chipper, were a total let down.

The brash attitude, overconfidence, and bawdy humor that made me love the first one did not translate well to #2 and #3. What felt novel became tired, and Chipper and Cricket felt like children playing at being adults playing at being children - plus cussing and sex. Whereas Angus and Candy were adults with real vulnerabilities, shitty attitudes, killer chemistry, and hilarious flaws.

Chipper and Cricket made me roll my eyes and gag a little. Annoying rather than funny. And whatever potential their respective romances had were ruined due to how annoying they were.

I couldn't finish it. Same old thing.

I loved Bijou's writing but every single woman she writes about turns out to have the same personality. In booze Tatum appears to be a depressed, neurotic girl trying to get over the death of her mom and within a few chapters is talking and behaving like all the others. Wow to go from a crying, whining virgin to a cranked up woo woo that's celebrating being able to take a d ick. In the same night . Ummm, No. Repetition, Repetition, Repetition...see how annoying it is. I bought this one cause the sample sounded like it might be different, but No, it's just the same comedic routine. I stopped reading and will not be buying anymore of her books. Shame that, cause she really can write, like sitcoms.

This is my first read from this author and after a few chapters of getting used to her writing style I fell in love with the characters in this story. The book is pure humor and insta-lust. It was filled with humor, spicy scenes, great dialogue, and fun characters. The characters were fun to read about and I could picture meeting them in real life and watching them as a real life soap opera. The steamy scenes were great and the plot of the story was wonderful.

There was only one issue for me was the way the author wrote the story. Some of the dialogue or situations felt overly dramatic, but for most of the story it worked there was just a few times that it became overwhelming.

I really enjoyed reading this story and look forward to more in the future. I graciously received an ARC and am leaving my honest review.

No surprise, I once again enjoyed a book written by Bijou Hunter. This time we are treated to Chipper, twin of Cricket, and Tatum's love story.
As usual, this is an instalove situation.
Chipper spies Tatum in a bar and wham! instant love. I know it's crazy and completely unrealistic but there's just something so comforting about knowing this is how Bijou writes her books. I honestly love the simplicity and certainty of these books. I understand some readers need meatier and more angsty stories but for me, they act as a refresh to my overworked brain.
This book is a simple joy from start to finish. We need more of that in the world imo.
I look forward to the next.

I loved this novel! I love a novel that can make you laugh out loud and leave you with a smile on your face. This novel did both of these things for me. I loved Chipper and Tatum's novel. I loved how we were able to reconnect with characters from previous novels. I loved the humor and the banter. So good! From the very first page until the very last I was hooked. I love a novel that when you finish reading you wish it could just keep on going and leaves you feeling happy, this novel accomplished this for me. I loved it! I can't wait to see what is in store next!

Chipper is redeemed! I worried for him in Bitch Slap, as he seemed to be sliding towards alcoholism, and that's never a good look on a romance hero. Enter Tatum, who's riding so close to the edge of disaster that she sobers Chipper up. Not quite as funny as Bitch Slap (for reasons that will become obvious early in the story), I still giggled quite a bit. Ms. Hunter has a way with snark which I adore. Again, there is plenty of Hayes, Candy, and Cricket to keep things light, but Chipper and his proposal steal the show.

If you loved Junkyard Dog, this series is an absolute MUST READ! Booze O’Clock is the second book in the series and this one centers around Chipper. Breezy and Chipper’s romance progresses quickly but the book captivates your attention also. That being said there is also a lot of interaction with the extended family and they are a crazy bunch! Bijou Hunter creates some of the absolute best characters. If you want some LOLs, you’ll find them in Booze O’Clock.

Great book

Another great read by the author, I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and their story, I laughed all the way through it. This book has so much going on, a dysfunctional family who somehow seems to work, a young woman trying to fight a wrong and the man who loves her at first sight and will do anything to protect her. I can't wait to read the next installment of this series.

Good to the last word!

As with all Bijou's books once you start you don't want to put them down. She always finds a way to help deal with personal tradgedies and emotional struggles.
This one had me crying and laughing at the same time. Never wanting it to end. Chipper and Tatums story makes you want to believe in love at first sight again!!
