Secrets and Lies

Rate this book
A Domestic Discipline Novella.

"When a man's allowed to enter heaven, he doesn't request the key to hell's door. I'm no saint, and I make no bones about it."
Gabe

Meg’s love life was missing a spark until she discovered her need to be dominated. When her fiancé shared the same kink, she thought all her birthdays had come at once, and then she came to learn their relationship was one big fat lie.

Gabe has loved Meg for years, watching her from afar, and always wishing he’d been the one to date her first and not his brother. When he has the chance to have Meg in his bed—even better, tied to it—it’s an opportunity he can’t refuse.

With disastrous consequences.

Can Gabe make Meg realize she’s the one woman he’s always wanted? But once secrets and lies have wormed their way into a relationship, is it impossible to establish the firm base of trust needed between lovers, and more importantly, between sub and Sir…?

This story features orgasm control in a BDSM setting.

I’m sad. I had so high hopes for the books of this author, followed her for ages on Insta and this book was so dissapointing… it was cringe & rushed, didn’t make sense, it was just not good… don’t know if I have it in me to read another book of this author tbh…

It's a novella so it's a super quick, too short of a read. I'm so enamoured by her writing that I wanted more...MORE!!
Again a very unusual story, unlike I've ever read before. I love cheating tropes, I love grovelling but this was a whole new ballgame.
Meg is missing something adventurous in her sex life, she tries bdsm and she feels at home with her boyfriend Terry dominating her.
It's bondage, humiliation, blindfolded sex. During one of the "plays" she gets a glimpse of her Dom and HE'S NOT TERRY!!!
OMG...WTF!!
Worst kind of two-fer betrayal. She's cheated on by her bf and let down by her Dom..
The humiliation!! Embarrassment!! OMG 😱

"To lose the woman was agonizing, to lose his sub was devastating. The double whammy meant the last six months had been hell. A deserved hell, but painful nonetheless. "

And her Replacement Dom is the guy she has actually enjoyed and fallen for!
It's minds battering reality that humiliates her completely. She closes up and stops all communication with the entire fiasco and tries to forget it.
But Gabe is persistent because what they had was special.
I'm telling you, this was juicy, satisfyingly delicious story served on a sizzling hot platter.
I need more Serena!

“She didn’t know if deep down she’d ever forget what he’d done, but she could trust Him enough to do this, to gift Him with her submission because she needed that side of Him. Needed to feel His dominance to feel alive.”

This novella appeared in the Dirty Doms’ Boxset circa 2019. I must have downloaded it as a freebie, but for the life of me cannot remember where. I was looking for a quick read this weekend and came across this novella buried in the bazillion books I have downloaded. I love Serena. This novella packed a punch. We get the sexy in the Prologue that ends with a WHAT in the hell just happened. That leads to some angst. Then some truths. And, the road to forgiveness.

Meg is a control freak who loves to be dominated. Thinking she has found the best of both worlds with her boyfriend. Then one night as they are in the middle of a scene she realizes she has been duped.

Meg has been trained to react to her Sir. He taught her to crave his kiss and beg so well for him. Only the man she has such an intense connection with isn’t who she thought he was.

63% in, read others in between, and I still felt oddly detached. I could not get into the plot. I don’t feel the characters. The scenes don’t seem to fit.

I honestly don’t know what exactly is wrong with this book but it’s just meh page after page and I just had to stop even if it’s just a short read I just can’t continue.

This is the first time I read a book and felt absolutely nothing. Even those I rated low in the past still elicited an emotion or two (anger, hate, disappointment, disgust, SOMETHING!). It’s so weird.

Also not sure how this ended up in my library?? Lol

I’m sad to say this left me wanting. Intro was great, just what you expect from Serena. After chapter 1, for me, it read as a 3rd person, and this made it lacking. As per usual, strictly no spoiling, so it does make it hard to express. There were teasing moments and a strange ending.
Was it naughty? Maybe. Was it leaving you wanting? This would be a choice for each individual reader.

Its Serena so obviously I was hooked from the first chapter. Its a novella so I went in not expecting much in the form of character development or storyline. But even with that in mind, this book left me wanting for more. The first chapter was amazing but then it kind of went down from there and it ended so abruptly.

1,5 ✨

This author got my attention out of nowhere and I got curious with some of her books/stories so I decided to pick up this novella.

To be honest, I was expecting more from the blurb. I ended up reading it till the end because the plot and the characters got me curious but it wasn't nothing too memorable.

Unexpected Love

Meg has been in a relationship with Terry for 6 years. The last two years they created a Dom/sub relationship in an adult club. Or so she thought.
Gabe has loved Meg for years and was acting as her Dom. He can’t give her up and Meg has to learn to trust after the lies.

This is a quick and okay read with an opening steamy scene and then the groveling begins.

Overall story was good.

Parts of the writing style felt juvenile with regard to conversations at times, coming across as artificial and not realistic.

I was very intrigued with the story first chapter alone had me hooked. It has a good storyline BUT it ended way too eruptly. I have no idea if this story will continue which I think it should.

This was a quick read, written with Akeroyd's usual confident prose. The premise didn't do it for me, but I can see how it would for some.

I hate this, when you think you’re getting the whole book and you only get the first 4 or 5 chapters. That’s why it’s only 1*. Authors should know false advertising gets you bad reviews.

So sad

I wanted more! It be a good story line it just finished too early for me. This book could have easily had another one follow it. I would have liked knowledge of the main chat but I still enjoyed it.
