I read an early edition of this book and liked it. The author offered an updated version, so I gave it another skim through. Much better the second time around.

It's written from the antagonists point of view.
Some scenes maybe trigger anxiety.

I cannot say enough great things about this book. The torture starts in the beginning and is pretty much non stop. I love creative torture. Some of it felt awkward how it was described, maybe because I just didn't know what some of the things were, but it didn't take away from the story. It still resulted in blood, so I loved it. Now as for the actual story, I couldn't think too hard about it. Kill after kill, even leaving behind witnesses and they don't catch this dude until after another dozen kills (or so)? I mean, they knew who he was and couldn't find him at his parent's house? If my ex comes in and kills my parents and cat, tortures me and leaves me alive you better believe I'm telling someone. And they could find him. Especially since he went straight to his parents house. Then the therapist. He tells her how many he killed. Runs away. Then she goes and meets him alone after he tried to kill her. Oh yeah, the fact he has been stabbed multiple times and still strong arms his victims? Like I said, the 5 stars is based on gore not story

What happens when we give Dexter a diary and take away his plastic addiction? This is not for the weak stomach or squeamish type, myself on the other hand enjoyed the play by play and detail on each and every page! Dave Blackwell did it again, grabbed me from page one and only continued to build the excitement! A few minor spelling errors and typos but other than then this was a dark adventure that started with an entry in a diary. Always looking forward to more from Dave Blackwell!
