A Sensitive Situation

Rate this book
One touch, and all your secrets are theirs... John Ballard is a detective with a condition, a sensitivity. He absorbs the memories of whatever or whoever he touches - but he's not the only one with the ability... When other sensitives use their gift to steal classified information, he's recruited to track them down. But these sensitives have more control than they can make anyone do anything. The deeper he digs, the more lines he'll have to cross. Because for once, it's not just his life on the line... If he doesn't find the perpetrators, sensitives everywhere will pay the price. A Sensitive Situation is a tight, action-packed thriller that harks to Iain Banks by way of Margaret Atwood, with a splash of Vonnegut and Philip K. Dick for good measure.

Lee Isserow's writing is so visceral it draws the reader in with all senses. In the Touch Sensitive series that means one experiences things on levels and perspectives never seen before! It is something not to be missed for that alone. However the series plot lines are also exceptional.

John Ballard is a detective with an edge. He absorbs memory through touch, not just from people, or animate (or once animate objects), but from anything he touches. It used to be painful in the extreme for John, each instance ending in a 23 second seizure, as it does for nearly all sensitives, no matter which sense they receive information through.

A year ago all of that changed for John. He met someone who changed his life. She trained him to use his sensitivity in a different way, to embrace it as a gift, rather than a curse. He learned control, and as a result is no longer limited by the restrictions nearly all other sensitives live with. In the end he was betrayed by the very same woman, nearly losing his life, his reputation, and his only friend Robbo, a police detective, John had aided in many investigations.

John has spent the last year rebuilding his life, himself and his business. Now a new case has arisen. It is another involving sensitives. Can John survive another involvement in such a case? Can he turn on others of his own kind? Where will his loyalties ultimately fall?

This third installment is a political thriller and delves deep into the dark heart of predjudice hiding within all societies. What makes a family, birth or loyalty to those most like yourself, those willing to risk their lives for yours?

Lee Isserow is an exceptional writer of our times, giving us entertainment with thought provoking themes as undercurrents. Each Touch Sensitive book can be read as a stand alone experience. I reccomend them all!

Helping everyone come together

John is having it rough dealing with his sensitive gift and always doing something that he refers to as stupid. One day he is called to London for a job by the majastesy and find out who is blackmailing the countries information. And ultimately killing innocent people. This book keeps you guessing and you have to really pay attention to grasp the details but it's a good series
