Hard times and fun times of an American family raising their children in The American south during the 1950's. No racism, no bigotry, as we were all poor struggling to just survive and to put food on the table. This is a fictional story of two towns, Redtown and Hampton. It's a story of an unsolved murder, young girls disappearing from the community and the rearing of children. All the while a deep secret is hiding in the shadows that all come together at the end of the book that reveals a secret that only the American south can produce.
This was a simple book about being a family in the south and I enjoyed every page, the only thing is I wish there would have been 50 more chapters to read !
This is a unique book written from a rural Southern perspective. The characters are rich and evolving. The secrets are really not surprising. Southern strength and comfort.
I was really enjoying this book, the characters seemed so real!! Then the last few pages felt like the writer said I'm done! and wrapped it up quickly. the ending was abrupt and careless and did Not match the rest of the book. Very disappointing
If you want to read a happy book this is it, it is nice to read about good things happening to the characters along with some mystery! I love time pieces and I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end!
